Welcome to Denver Coach McDaniels!!

January 12th, 2009 - 12:05pm by mark_cooper

Hey Coach McDaniels WELCOME to the Mile High City. I’m not the first to welcome you, but have to tell you what your getting into.

The folks on this blog are passionate, rowdy, funny, well educated and know their football. They go off on each other like brothers and sisters do in the back seat of the car growing up, when they don’t agree with each other, but it’s even funnier.

Men, woman, boys and girls know their Broncos and the history of the franchise. We even have a few older southstanders that join in once in a while and southstanders is an attitude in Denver not a position in the stadium like it once was. The same snowballs that use to come out of the south stands now get thrown around in this blog from blogger to blogger like the one that bounced in front of the 49ers kicker years ago.

I personally learn quite a bit from these knuckleheads and they know what they’re talking about. Some real aficionado’s here with statistics and knowledge of the game and the personnel. Some great ideas and thoughts come from this group, so check us out once in a while.

GO BRONCOS!!

    Welcome Coach McDaniels!!!!

I am very excited to see the team under this new tutelage. I don’t think there could be a better fit for the Broncos than this!!

The only problem now is waiting for training camp!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!

  2. thundersrevenge says:

Oh and I’m sure monodono will be upset at not getting the first post on this! :)

  3. Cutlercountry08 says:

ok .. i wanna strt of by sayin wen denver let shanahan go i died a lil on the inside. lol buh im ok now. im actually pretty ecstatic about the situation we have in denver. i mean the guys only 32 nd if he does well jus think of the long career he could have as a head couch. im hoping tht mcdaniels comes in and builds quick healthy relationship with cutler, marshall, royal, nd my favorite reciever tony scheiffler. but more importantly wit cutler. i wanna have u kno the elway-shanahan vibe in denver or even the manning-dungy type relationship. i gotta im lookin forward to next season more than any other season. i think hes gonna do wonders. hopefully we make some noise in the offseason on defense. possibly pick up some safeties nd defensive tackles. im extremely excited with wuh the denver organization is doin (now i hear theyre tryna get mike nolan under contract as Defensive coordinator) AWESOME! now before i leave the reason im most excited is because we have a ridiculous offense. wit our offensive coordinator still in tact nd Mcdaniels running the show we should average 40 points a game. i mean this guy is a genious wen it comes to qbs he turned brady a 6th round pick i believe into qb royalty nd he turned a guy who hasnt started since high school into a strting quarterback in the nfl in 1 season. wit that much knowledge jus thnk of wuh he could do wit Cutler as his go-to guy! Ladies nd Gentle… We have a bright future ahead!! GO BRONCOS!

P.S. i know were gonna make a couple changes in the off-season buh lets keep hillis at running back nd if pittman doesnt retire. play him more often. strt hillis have ryan torain at 2 bck nd have pittman for the 3rd downs nd tough yardage. We can do some serious damage. Much love!! Excited bout a new beginning

  4. Broncos=victory says:

Matt Prater doesn’t deserve be call a Denver Bronco.

  5. Broncos97rule says:

Coach, welcome. Hope youre ready to fill some of the biggest shoes in Denver! Let’s go get something done.

  6. 07elway says:

Hey Coop – your funniest blog yet!!! I for one will not let this new HC get away with anything… he’s now on my radar. I’ll be like that really annoying person that just breathes down your neck every time he does something questionable. He’s got HUGE shoes to fill… so many people wanted this & they got their wish… he’s got to step up to the plate everytime and no striking out. He’ll make his fair share of mistakes like all of us but I’m keeping my VERY watchful eye on this one.

Still p’od about all of this but I won’t spoil the moment here…
McDaniels, Welcome to the Mile High City!!!

I for one take alot of pride in this team and have all my life. I care about this team so much there’s no way of putting it in words. I breathe & bleed Bronco Orange & Blue. Again I have VERY VERY VERY high expectations for the guy taking over Shanny’s spot so you better get us off on the right foot mister!

I’ve got all my faith in this team like I always have… just now paying closer attention to what goes on around here. But hey, I will admit with a hint of bitter-sweetness, if we get a SB win out of this guy – more power to us. I still say this was the nuttiest idea that Bowlen ever came up with but whatever happens will be solely on his shoulders, win or lose. I just hate to think if we did get a SB win out of all this that Shanny wasn’t really apart of it. Yeah, he picked some of our drafts that we have but its just not the same.

    With faith…
    GO BRONCOS in ’09!!!!

  7. BroncosDominate says:

VERY EXCITING… WELCOME TO MILE HIGH!!!!
not too worried about any offensive changes because they had an excellent season, but i am looking forward to the improvements made on defense… improve the d, win the super bowl.

  8. millsdesign says:

WELCOME TO MILE HIGH and the BRONCOS COUNTRY FAMILY coach McDaniels.

We have high expectations for this team and we have faith in you and this team to succeed much further than recent years.

    GO BRONCOS!

  9. monodono says:

WOW COOP AND THE TROOPS! I like it…..

Welcome Coach McDaniels! Like 07elway and Broncos97 said you have some GREAT shoes to fill, 07elway don’t bird dog to much…hehe :-)

Thundersrevenge I’m not sad you got to post first infact I’m glad I didn’t have to get on the fan’s to get started, but I got the front seat next… and Broncos=victory DON’T MAKE COOP STOP THIS CAR AND COME BACK THERE! Wow where did that come from any way, I thought we were welcomeing or new Head Coach.

CLEAN UP ON ISLE 3 geez Cutlercountry08 do you need a towel or possably a drool cup? clean yourself up man HA! Let’s not start throwing the Genius label out just yet also who said Coache McDaniels will keep the OC? LUV the excitement though keep it up.

Now that I’ve poked fun at my Brothers and Sister I gotta say, I to am excited we have a new leader in Coach Josh McDaniels WELCOME SR. I can’t wait to see who He brings in and or keeps here. rumars have Him bringing in Dom Capers or Mike Nolan as DC two excellent choices. Im curious who will be the OC any Ideas?

I also think training camp is exciting to think about but we have allot to do before that… Feb. 18-24 NFL Combine, FEB. 27 Free agency begins, and APRIL 25-26 is The NFL Draft so much to do so little time.

anyway COOP great post, I thought I might have to take over, we didn’t hear from you in so long.

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !

  10. KiKo J.E. #7 says:

Welcome coach McDaniels! We have a pretty good offensive and a crap defense good luck! I really hope you’re the guy who can turn things around and make this team a contender again.

  11. KiKo J.E. #7 says:

I meant offense not offensive. DAMN IT!

  12. bronc fan in WA says:

    HAHAHA.

Broncos=victory is right, Prater doesnt deserve to be called a Denver Bronco. He doesn’t deserve to be called a kicker. Please find a good kicker for us McDaniels. We need change around here

  13. CARAMELLOO says:

WELCOME COACH MAC and please exscuse any of my brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles who are still tripping over Shanahan being let go. I for one don’t feel like you have big shoes to fill bc the shoes of Coach Shanahan can never be filled.

You’re really not being hired to replace Shanny! Instead you’re being hired to help bring back some of the Mile High Magic that we haven’t had in awhile. As well as restoring the Denver Broncos Organization as one of the top teams in the NFL.

I look fwd to seeing you and you’re staff lead us back to the AFC West Title and much more. One other thing coach Mac…… Please don’t try to be like Shannny or any other coach in the NFL! Just be YOU!

  14. monodono says:

    GOOD NEWS!

I just read it’s official Coach Mike Nolan as DC! ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !

  15. AussieBronco1 says:

I’m still scratching my head. A kid younger than some of the players as our new HC??? An offensive genius? What happened to the NEED for a DEFENSIVE thrust to the coaching pursuit? Our D suks!!!! We need a total revamp of this organization, not a whisk broom job. At the moment, my Mom could call the offensive plays and we’d score. “Throw deep to Marshall. Throw crossing to Marshall. Throw come-back to Marshall. Throw stop-and-go to Royal. Throw short to Stokley. Oh. Where’s my RB? Give it to anybody up the middle.” Big freaking deal! We are still going to be sitting home the next few years watching other teams play for the Big Prize. Bowlen and his Brain Trust suk!!!

  16. joker704 says:

Woo hoo looks like we will still have an offensive minded coach. Not only that but his experience in the Patriots organization with their defense can’t hurt. Boy he looks really young, is he old enough to shave? Hee Hee I am real excited about this year for us Bronco fans.

  17. KMB says:

WELCOME TO BRONCOS COUNTRY COACH MCDANIELS!!! New Year New Start….I’m excited to see what changes will be made to help our beloved Broncos get back to the ultimate goal…..Winning the SUPER BOWL!!!

07Elway…..I have to ditto everything you posted above. I have been a die hard Bronco fan since the Days of the Orange Crush….stood by the team through all the SB blow outs.Never once gave up on them…Stood strong and by their side through all the ragging and insults I endured all these years. Always will be a Bronco Fan through thick & thin. As a matter of fact a new addition to our family will be arriving in April….my daughter is pregnant with my 1st grandchild, which by the way is a BOY who no doubt will be raised as a BRONCO FAN!!!!!

    GO BRONCOS 2009!

  18. milehighmagic88 says:

Welcome Coach McDaniels! I have faith that you will be able to bring some new life to this team. The one thing I can guarantee is that we Broncos fans are the most supportive in the NFL, and we are behind you all the way. Good luck and go Broncos!

  19. peterg says:

    bronc fan in WA:

    Broncos=victory:
You guys are spoiled. Matt replaced the G-d of kickers and did an fair to adequate job. You can’t replace Jason Elam. Like no one can replace Patrick Roy in the net. Give the guy a year or two. He may get better. That’s a hard shoe to fill.

Everyone needs to look at history. ! NO ! Belichek protege has been successful in the NFL on his own behind the reigns. That just makes coach B look even better. He is the muscle behind the Pats run.

  20. BRONCOBAILEY99 says:

I’m not sure if someone has written something similar but I don’t have time to read all these replys

So… I think that if we didn’t have a bad defense, he would be great. But since we don’t, I’m not 100% sure about him… But, I have faith in him and Pat. Hopefully they’ll still get a Great new D-Coordinator

  21. BRONCOBAILEY99 says:

Oh… Nevermind, I just read some and now realize that he brought over Mike Nolan… So yea, ignore that last part

  22. BRONCOBAILEY99 says:

Mike Nolan…18-37 record… I just got sick to my stomache

  23. #80fan says:

Welcome Coach McDaniels! Nolan as a D-Coordinator is great. I am hoping that some toughness and excitement will be added to our team.

  24. BRONCOBAILEY99 says:

K… did a bit more research… Nolan’s 18-37 record was as head coach… So hopefully if we do get him he is a better D.C. than H.C.

  25. Broncos=victory says:

I don’t want to sound spoiled by saying Matt Prater doesn’t deserve be call a Denver Bronco, I just want someone who can make a 15yard field goal.

  26. imready says:

Good luck coach McDaniels. One bit of advice, THINK DEFENSE! If you don’t the fans here will eat you alive after what has been going on here in Denver. More advise, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Egads, too much excitement for me, I need to go fishing. Head north Coop, I know a few good spot to drill some holes in the ice and catch a few nice ones! Man, coaching changes ar hard on me! Go Broncos!

  27. milehighmagic88 says:

Alright I said in my earlier post above that we are the most supportive fans in the NFL, but with all the negativity I’ve been reading in other peoples’ posts I’m starting to feel like I’m on a Chargers blog. Show a little pride people.

I understand being skeptical, but come on! It’s only January and everyone’s talking like this guy has already failed us fans. That’s not what I’m used to hearing from Broncos Nation, and it really bothers me when I hear this much negativity from my fellow Broncomaniacs.

But maybe that’s just me being hopelessly optimistic as usual. Still, I think everyone needs to have a little more faith and just give the guy a chance.

There I’m done with my rant.

  28. thundersrevenge says:

    You’ all crack me up!!!

Coop you called it, “pull the car over and take off the BELT!”

Man….there has to be enough pressure coming in has a new H.C. but add this blog to the mix……If I were coach MAC, I’d stay in New England for an extra day just to remind myself what it’s like to have oxygen in my lungs!!!!!

    Love it!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

  29. BroncosFan973 says:

Coach McDaniels should keep Bates and Dennison. Also, he should keep the line, it was unreal. he NEEDS to fix the D.

  30. ramboskithefan says:

he is going to make eddie royal into a lil wes welker and give bmarsh alot of randy moss deep routes….i love it!!

  31. monodono says:

Coach McDaniels should do what He feels it takes to bring this TEAM back up to par.

  32. broncos14441 says:

Thanks for mentioning us Coop! reding this week blog made me proud to be a blogger and proud to be a member of Bronco Nation. Can’t wait to read your next blog and see what you think about the rest of the new coaching staff!

  33. headlesshorseman says:

I have to say I was devastated to see Mike get the pink slip. But really I had been wondering if Denver needed a change a couple seasons ago. Changing a HC can put a team in a hole for a few years or, with the right guy, you can see immediate results. I think the right move was made, I only hope a good DC is brought in.

I also saw some people mention Prater. He had his shot, get someone else in there to kick.

    GO BRONCOS!

  34. raidrhadr says:

Thanks for mentioning the south stands Coop. section EE row 23 in the old building….Sec 132 row 5 in Invesco. Since 1965 for my family. You’re absolutely correct about the attitude of the true southstander too. I would personally love to welcome Coach McDaniels and Welcome Coach Nolan back to Denver. It would be awesome to return that Orange Crush frienzy to Mile High. Hope we do well in FA and the draft. There is a long list of talent in the FA market this year. Taylor Mays or Laurenitis at #12. I’m pumped. GO BRONCOS!!!

  35. papaj2007 says:

WELCOME COACH! I have been a Bronco’s fan since they first became a team. Up, down; I’ve been there and supported them AND STILL DO! You do have some big shoes to fill, but I’m sure you’ll do fine. Just remember; DEFENSE! I have never been to a Bronco’s home game (lived in So. Cal all my life) but I hope 2009 I will be able to make it up there and see them beat the crap out of the Chargers! :-) Best of Luck to you!

    GO BRONCO’S!!!

  36. monodono says:

    NICE papaj2007.

COOP, did ya see Casey Wiegmann got in? I Knew it He was the real Rock this year on the O Line!

  37. midwesternbronc says:

Pratter couldn’t seem to make an important kick even when he had his kicking shoe on. Of course, a kicker is a pretty easy choice when placing blame. I was dispointed when the Broncos let Shanny go, but over the lst few days, I believe it might have been a good move. Change was needed when reviewing how the broncos flatered the last few games. I hope our new coach will prove to be the right individual for the job over the next couple of seasons. I will hate it if Shanny comes back to kick our #$@ like he seems to always do to the raiders.

  38. monodono says:

    COOP!

I just read that Coach McDaniels is looking at brining in former O Lineman and current Carolina Panthers OC to be The Broncos new OC. What do you think? It seem’s unlikely to me Rick Dennison will want to stay after being passed up as a HC candidate. I know you did’nt play on the same TEAMS but do you know him? Do you think He would do well in Denver? It seemed like The panthers know a little something about a good running game and Lord know’s we could use a little help there. Any input?

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS! ! !

  39. monodono says:

Sorry I meant to put his name in there some where…. HA!
Jeff Davidson What do you think?

  40. Broncfalls says:

    Elway07!

come on now :) aren’t you the one that says “Give everyone a chance”, “People make mistakes, let them learn from them” “this is a team sport not an individual sport”

Give the guy a break! He’s the new head coach……and here’s the best line you’ve used that fits.

“How will we know if we don’t give hima chance?”

Just givin’ ya a hard time! :)

p.s. I personally love Shanny and respect the man 150% However J Mac is the man now and I support him 150%!!!!

    That’s right I called him J Mac!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  41. thundersrevenge says:

    Coach MAC……J Mac…….What next??

    Big MAC…….MAC Attack!!!……MAC Daddy?

Just curious to see how many nicknames we can give the new HC!!!

  42. 07elway says:

No worries Broncfalls… I have a sense of humor. And I have said I will give him a fair chance, he’s just got to show me that he can do this. I’m not totally sold on him yet, he hasn’t got me convinced. My whole life, the only coach I’ve known to this team is Shanny, not easy making this transition as fast as everyone wants to. This is gonna take time for me to get used to this. He does deserve a fair chance and that’s exactly what he’ll get from me.

Didn’t think you’d spend your whole comment on me alone! ;)

Oh and I’ve already given him the nickname McD… although when I read Broncfalls idea for J Mac… couldn’t stop laughing. Sounds like he’s someone’s homie – J Mac for real, man!! Oh my, this is getting funny! :)

    With faith…
    GO BRONCOS in ’09!!!!

  43. raidrhadr says:

    I’ve got one….How about….Coach.

  44. raidrhadr says:

    which just tops: J McDizzle

  45. raidrhadr says:

But if your ready to talk about nicknames I’m hoping to dust off the best one in Bronco Country ever…..The Orange Crush Defense. It’s making a comeback thanks to Coach Nolan. Anyone feel me on that one?

  46. monodono says:

    I GOT YOU!

  47. since 86 says:

Can you say Nolan AND Capers! So yeah i feel ya dawg! Monodono if your right about Jeff Davis being the OC then can you say Super Bowl XLV!

    PUMP BLUE,BLEED ORANGE!

  48. monodono says:

I’m right they’er looking it’s wheather they bring Him in or not. Also Dennison interviewed Tuesday who know’s?…. and it’s Jeff Davidson.

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS! ! !

  49. HomeTeam007 says:

Oh Yeh, I am feeling the Orange Crush rolling back in to Denver!!!! Welcome Mr. Nolan. WoHooo!!! I really think that most Bronco Fans, me included, would rather see a Ravens style Defense (Cue Orange Crush), smash the raiders, chiefs and chargers in the mouth, keeping them under 10 points/ game, than Cutler needing to cram the leather in to Royal and Marshall to keep up on the score board.

That said Coach McDaniels is making the right moves already. Welcome to Denver Coach!!!

I am super excited about the change of guard. A new, young coach like McDaniels needs the wins, needs the credibility. And I know he will do everything, use all his resources to make it happen. You have our full support and criticism.

    Go Broncos!!!!

ps. Please find a place for Peyton Hillis on this roster, he is all heart and lays it on the line every game.

  50. mark_cooper says:

thundersrevenge, that was funny busting mondono….mondono, nice comeback but I had to tell the truth about you all :o ) and you know the drill I was too freaking busy with biz and coaching my two boys practices and games and in real estate I go 7 days a week more often than you’d think. Biz baby biz. No complaints here though, biz is good with rates under 5%.

07elway, on funniest blog…kinda hit the nail on the head didn’t I?

BRONCOBAILEY99, the Mike Nolan…18-37 record has been a bone of contention with the media types, they are jumping all over that. I was listening to aradio show the other day and they mentioned something I hadn;t thought much about that some coaches are better suited and DC or OC and thought they should stay in those roles and that just might be the case for Mike….no telling. Another guy made a point..can’t really get much worse. I like what I know of Mike, but I guess we’ll see, right?

imready, drill holes in the ICE?? I’m a ole Florida boy still trying to figure out this winter fishing stuff, but thinking tailwaters first, not ICE fishing. I’m running down to Tim Wakefields charity golf tournament next weekend and getting a day on Mosquito Lagoon chasing redfish while I’m down there to golf…warm water, palm trees, boat drinks.

I went to the fly fishing show that was in town over the weekend and just drooled about fishing and talked to my buddy’s with Cowboy Drifters up in Casper about heading that way again this spring to fish Gray Reef. You all want to see some fishing pictures, check out my facebook page and you’ll see why I speak so passionately about the sport.

broncos14441, I agree, it will be interesting to see the entire staff. I’m excited.

raidrhadr, southstanders rule…..but I still have a hard time saying Invesco. It will always be MILE HIGH STADIUM to me.

monodono, yep Casey is the starter but I heard today he’s debating wether he’s coming back?? That was news to me. Anyone else hear that? I didn’t hear the reasoning behind it? on Jeff Davidson, I thought he was headed elsewhere? Haven’t heard, but I think Dennison is gone simply because I think he’s looking for a HC or better position than what he has. Also, once a guy interviews for the HC job, the new HC usually doesn’t keep them around.

I have to be honest, I don’t know much about Davidson and you know me if I don’t know, I’ll tell you because some of you would eat my lunch if I tried to pull on over on you. That’s why I love this blog, I learn quite a bit from you all.
