Turnovers Hurt, No Magic Against Jags

October 13th, 2008 - 8:02am by mark_cooper

Like we said a few weeks ago, turnovers in this league will kill you. K.C. proved that against us and so did the Jags. To open the paper today was like reading about a 1-5 team, wow. Anything to sell a newspaper.

Simple math: turnovers = losses, that simple. We’ve all heard it all the way back to little league….in every sport….not just football….it’s that simple.

Offense was off but Pittman ran well. We had a chance to stay in the game in the fourth quarter and we didn’t with three plays and out on offense. Three turnovers and a 4th-and-1 are tough for any team to rebound from and we still had a shot, so that’s what I mean by, we still had a shot late in the game.

Young team, getting used to each other and with three big weapons on the sidelines, Royal, Scheffler, Young. No excuses though, it’s a long season and Monday Night Football coming next week will be fun.

Speaking of that, those are tough games to play. When I say that I mean, you have to sit around all day on the East Coast to play a night game. The waiting around is a pain in the tail. Getting up for Monday night games is the only saving grace. Then by the time the games over and you get back to Denver, it makes for a short week typically, but we’ll have a bye week– so that’s good.

Any of you remember the Monday night game against Green Bay, back in 1984? The blizzard game…that’s what comes to mind everytime I see the Monday Night Football commercials. I think I have issues. :o )

yeah too many turnovers and scheffler stokley royal young add in torian all out on offense. the defense is improving. if we get all them healthy i think we will beat NE no problem

  2. Nachojuice says:

You know what else hurt …. two TERRIBLE calls that extended drives for the Jags!!! Come on people not that the broncos played their best game but only one WR, Nate Jackson missing a WIDE open touchdown and the game was still close. Those two terrible calls completely shifted momentum towards the jags, that was going to be a 3 and out if that ridiculous PI call wasnt made. Ref should be ashamed of himself for that one!

  3. BigBronco4x4 says:

I’m with nachojuice on that one, the defense did their job well in those situations which would have given us 2 great chances to get the win and then we get screwed by the 2 interference calls in the end on those 3rd and longs. Yes, Nate Jackson should have got that WIDE open TD but I guess s**t happens on those plays, but those ref calls were pathetically unacceptable. There clearly was no foul on either of them and we just got plain screwed.
Overall, I think we played a great game other than the turnovers and it was ours for the taking. Oh well, we’ll take it to the Pats next week, they looked like crap last night and our defense is up to the task of getting a few INTs against Cassell….he sucks. LOL

  4. Denwu says:

I think that Jay Cutler should own up to this loss and put it on his shoulders. That’s what leaders do and he could’ve played better. other than that, our Defense played great considering the circumstances. Bad PI by the ref, I guess we were due for a bad call after San Diego, but like Shanahan said, we should’ve done other things to not even be in that situation. GO GET TONY GONZALEZ!!!! We will win Super Bowls with him.

  5. dbronc71 says:

I’m a detail oriented person. Can someone share with me (or you Cooper) how the defense has improved. I wouldn’t say because they care more now than the first few games. So is it a better scheme? I haven’t paid attention to if they play a 4-3 or a 3-4. What does everyone think? Because the defense has definitely played much better. Bravo to them!

  6. B-Marsh=#1 says:

I think we are playing better, but Manuel is getting destroyed every game. It was had to watch him and McCree tackel each other rather than MJD. We really need to consider a change with the safety situation and I think we will eliminate all the 3rd and Longs. I also think Martinez is doing a great job on punt returns and should get a shot at kickoffs aswell.

  7. West Coast says:

Mark, are you seriously going to play the turnover card? We lost because once again we gave up 400+ yards and couldnt make the big stop when the game was on the line. Our Defense is horrible. Our offense will get better as the year goes on. I think with Torain coming back, all of our players are in place to have a great offense for years to come. However we do not have the skilled players/playmakers on the other side of the ball. (Thats why even the Chifs can rack up 400+ yards on us) Im sure next years draft will be about DEFENSE.

  8. monodono says:

COOP you do have issues you bleed Orange & Blue!!!
I do remember the Blizzard Game, I also remember watching The Broncos before Craig Morton came to town so I know how bad it could really get.
This loss was a total loss but if the TEAM can get back to what we did last week this TEAM will be fine.
I agree with Denwu if we could pick up Gonzales it would make the O better which would make the D better.

    GO GETTEM SHANAHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Samoanbronco says:

Why are we playing around with this 3-4 4-3 scheme? In past years the 4-3 scheme had the Bronco run-d in the upper echalons of the NFL, now, were are a complete joke. Is it the scheme and/or personnel?
Our Safeties are a shambles!! Manuel!?!? Damn I would like to see Barrett moved from the Practice Squad and getting some game time.

As for our offence – Its almost as if we have moved to a more conservative approach. We have Marshall/Royal & Stokes why change a good thing?? Okay they were injured but its like after rd 3 we put the handbrake on.. Cutler is a GREAT prospect and will only get better! Marshall and Royal are mean as!

Im glad Pittman broke the 100yd mark, as Yound has been pussy footing around and needs some healthy comp for the RB position.

where is anthony aldridge i didnt no he was hurt this bad

  11. Samoanbronco says:

    “Regather…refocus…respond”

Shanny you can use that quote in a post/pregame speech, lol

  12. 07elway says:

Well, where does one begin one this piece of work, eh??

Wow, its funny how in the first week we looked like the best team in the league and now it feels like we’re back to mediocracy. When will it end?? When does losing a game start to matter to these guys??? They said they were ready for the Jags but I only believed that when I saw a couple of players actually trying to pull off a miracle. And what’s really weird… that first drive of the game. We looked like football studs out there and then came the defense, oh brother and then came the downhill of it all when offense got their second shot. My mind is still swimming.

I love this team to death, I will always have Orange & Blue blood no matter what happens but things have got to change. New England looked like crap last night, which was kinda funny but not really because San Diego RAN ALL OVER THEM!!!!!!!! So now our lead over SD is slowly but surely shrinking to almost nothing and if we keep playing like we did yesterday and against the Chiefs we’re the ones that are going to be in 2nd place… as usual. I don’t know about our players for I for one would love to see POSITIVE change out on that field. Champ and Pittman were awesome to watch but that was about it.

Towards the end in the 4th we got another TD to close the gap and I really did think we could actually win this game, I had hope and then that went out the door in literally 2 seconds. Time in a football game is crucial and those players don’t have the time to even blink or we end up with the score we did. I was hoping we weren’t going to have a repeat of last year with the Jags but nevermind that idea!!!!!! I’m not very happy with how we played on either sides of the ball but I’m not furious, just frustrated.

And Cutler… I love the kid to death but I think sometimes he tries a little too hard and lets the excitement or whatever it is he’s thinking about get the best of him and he rushes through plays that don’t need to be rushed. He’s a very smart and talented QB but he needs to calm down. Against a team like the Jags, I want him to throw that ball I want to see what he can do with it but sometimes it’s just not a good idea. Like that I-wish-I-could-forget-it interception. Oh my, I thought our guy had it and them BOOM tragedy happens. That just gave me the heebie-jeebies. The millions of fumbles we had (I don’t even remember the real number it felt like so many) and then I think it was 1 or 2 INTs, I mean those just killed us. We gave up 10 points AND the lead in the first have on turnovers alone. That should’ve never happened. I didn’t want to say this but we got some butterfingers on our hands here and it needs to get fixed NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the refs, GET A NEW JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap, they made some bad calls and it helped in costing us the game. We started it by doing it to ourselves but when you got zebras running around blowing that whistle like its recess or something and just firing out calls without thinking about it…. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I was ready to jump through that TV of mine and just slap them silly for making THE WORST CALL EVER and calling a PI on McCree when he didn’t even touch the guy till AFTER the ball flew through MJD’s hands. That ball never even had a change for it to be caught by anyone in bounds. I’m still miffed about that one… I think I need therapy for that call alone.

I don’t know what else to say other than I hope this team steps up to the plate on MNF and DESTROY those Patriots. If SD can take ‘em so can we. We have the talent to accomplish this, its not rocket science. I hope Torain comes back REAL soon along with Royal, Scheffler and whoever else was/is injured. I definitely don’t want to see us start a really bad pattern here of winning every other week, uh-NO, I will not tolerate that. We lose to KC, then we win against Tampa, we lose again to the Jags and we better win every game from here on out. Don’t be flip-floppin’ on us here… I for one couldn’t take the agony that would come with that horrible idea and I won’t tolerate it either. We are better than that to be playing games like that.

Come on Orange & Blue make this a GOOD season not like last year – leave last year behind, make this season a fresh start and a better season. I know the team I”ve been a HUGE fan of my whole life (21 years) is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than what they’ve shown in the last 3 weeks. I want my Broncos back, I’m begging you!!!!

    With faith…
    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for writing a novel, I’m frustrated can’t you tell???

  13. bronc fan in WA says:

Like I stated earlier this week, Michael Pittman should be our starting running back. This guy is way more effective and experienced than Young or Hall and he proved that on Sunday. I was very impressed with his numbers and output. It hurt us to not have Royal and Scheffler but I believe this loss showed us something. We are still able to compete with good teams without some of our best offensive weapons. I believe we could have won that game without any doubt if Royal and Scheffler were healthy. But this is good that they will be rested and ready to come back for our big monday night game against those over rated Patriots. Go get em on monday guys!

  14. monodono says:

Hey West Coast I know you’re frustrated who isnt? But it wasnt just the D’s fault. COOP is right the O did give up 3 turnovers but they also went 3 & out 3TIMES 2 of them in the forth qtr. not to mention the TIME OF POSSESION!!!!! The reality is this was a total TEAM loss mistakes were made every where. Ya I see manuel & McCree stinking up the Safety positions but the truth is the O put them in horrable position in the first place.
    THIS WAS A TEAM LOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All those little mistakes every where add up to this loss. Not just the bad calls (the TEAM cant control them). Not just the Turnovers. Not just THE TIME OF POSSESION (my biggest critisism) Not just the Deffense. Not just Jay forceing the ball. IT IS A TEAM LOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This TEAM is young, its like the boy who just got his pubes and wants to have sex as fast and as often as he can without any strategy on how to protect himself. This TEAM needs a strategy on how to score but in a way they can set up the next score & the next & the next….without putting himself in a bad situation.

GO BRONCOS! ! ! oh & always use a condom.

  15. Detroit Reggie says:

I watched this game and I do not think it would have mattered if we had Tony or Royal, Cutlers passes was high and some was very short, he got lucky that the Jags dropped 2 INT’S

Pittman had a great game, B-Marsh needs to learn how to go down and stop trying to be a RB and Jay needs to learn how to throw away and live to play the next down, those corners had his number yesterday take away our bad play from our offense, and today way are 5-1

  16. scott2212 says:

ELWAY07 YOUR A FREAK GET A LIFE YOUR POSTS ARE WAY TO DAMN LONG FOR ANYONE TO READ GET A LIFE OR A GIRLFRIEND YOU PROBABLY NEED BOTH.

  17. broncos20 says:

defense improved…Denwu,,the idea of bringin in Gonzalez is not bad..but we have Scheffler(given he remains healthy),,but there’s no way the Chiefs would think of trading w/in their own division,,,especially with a rival,,imagine the pain of them goin against Gonzales every other week..AHAH..that’d be funny,,,but realistically cant happen….i think…

I praise the O-line,,,,they’re outstanding,,so far allowing 2 sacks i think?and rarely commit penalties….i think this is where Shanny wanted to improve since the offseason,,he knew his mindset going into the offseason and look it is completely turned around….next offseason,,i bet he will be totally set on the defense improving,,and no doubt it’ll be better….

we cant be hatin on Marshall for tryin to make plays after a catch…he is amazing,,u love him when he makes the big plays and complain when he loses it,,,for what??let the guy make plays any possible way he can…but jst remmber to tuck away the ball…lol..

  18. 07elway says:

scott2212… excuse I am a girl so I don’t think I want a girlfriend, that’s just sick and nasty, thank you very much. And I did apologize for writing such a long comment but I am very frustrated by how this team is playing, EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why don’t you get a life and stop commenting on me on a football blog and start giving a crap about this team, that’s what this blog is for my dear. Why don’t you go get a life and boyfriend or something… you probably need both!!

Was this short enough for you?… or should I only limit myself to one word comments. Heaven forbid I care enough about this team that I say something. Golly, I must be crazy for loving football and this team.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. 2champ4pickSIX says:

07elway when someone criticizes you on a long post like what you had, do what I do. You take it with a grain of salt and move on. I understand where you are comming from, and I enjoyed reading your post. Wouldn’t have thought you to be a girl, you are a master of disguise my friend lol.
Anyway scott2212, it’s plain and simple if you are going to criticize someone for posting on here and expressing their thoughts concerns and frustration or what have you NO ONE HELD A GUN TO YOUR HEAD AND SAID READ IT BI__H! Its freaking easy to just scroll down a little more and move on. Only other thing I have to say about that is, like I said 07elway, take it with a grain of salt and move on because chances our they are just pissed because you posted what they wanted to post and they don’t wanna copy you.
Now I have forgotten what I wanted to say on the topic at hand.
I will add that I really hate it when people rag on our D, I was glad at the first of this that this post everyone wasn’t on their back. I disagree with west coast, I think we have play makers on that side of the ball, we just need a D Cordinator that has the mindset Shanny does, and puts the players in matchups where they can change a game. I really don’t like our safety situation though. That is our weakest spot I think, corners are solid, Bly just needs a little help from a pass rush, backers are containing their gaps, see how Webster improved?
We just need to wrap people up and tackle better. Why did we let go of Hamza? I miss that guy, last year he was a hoot to watch! McCree has his moments, but Manuel I have never been a fan of, HELL PUT ME IN! I averaged 2 picks a game my junior year in high school!
Someone once said that imagine if our D played 4 quarters the way they did the 4th quarter how good we would be! I say ya it was a team loss, but Jay came out trying to prove his arm was stronger than Elways and he overthrew pleanty of opportunities. And since our D in my mind has stepped up a lot lately, and will only continue to improve the way we all say our Offense will, I counter your saying and ask my own. “What if the Offense played every drive the way they did the first one?” Oh one more thing, don’t get Gonzalez, first they wouldn’t trade him to us, second of all, they are going to want atleast a 2nd round pick or more. I would think you guys would be smarter than that, you keep ragging on our D and say next year Shanny will draft that side of the ball, cuz of his rotation.
THEN WHY DO YOU WANT HIM TO SEND A HIGH PICK FOR GONZALEZ, WHEN THAT WOULD BE A GOOD SAFETY, DEFENSIVE LINEMAN, OR A SOLID MLB!??! Come on guys, common sense!
As always, final note…. We will work out the kinks, I hope we can go deep this year, but either way we will be a force for years to come.

  20. 2champ4pickSIX says:

Forgot to apologize to any of you that don’t like long posts, and don’t have the brain cells to rub together to know that you don’t have to read it. So here is my apology for MY novel once again, and not for your incompetency to overlook what you don’t like! :P

  21. G funk says:

Those turnovers KILLERS to the O, we were on a driving play for the score that would of put the Jags on attack to score but what happend fumble, D back on the field. the D gets a turnover what we do turn the ball right back to them. its easy to blame the D yes they do not get pass for the way they are playing but the two losses are on the O.

  22. bronco-blaze says:

Heh…Its a blog posting, of course there is going to be long inputs! Thats the point! I agree with many of your posts and i was a bit dissapointed in the way Cutler threw the ball….I think he got nervous and let the jags lead get to his head a little. The thing i see in Cutler that is great is he wants to do what he can for the team to win..From not sliding some times to trying to make those tough throws..But he really needs to watch his choices some times. He is getting great time in the pocket and he has many great players out there, but he must see split seconds where marshall gets open because thats where the ball goes heh. And for who ever said Marshall needs to stop acting like a “RB” is ridiculous…Marshall just needs to protect the ball is all when he switches around. He made great plays by stopping and turning around..I believe if he didnt fumble the ball on the 10 he would have scored. For the D i like the 3-4 we just need to work on the Techniques and get a little bit closer on the coverage…I noticed every team has chopped us up on the sidline passes and all short passes. Besides that i think the Broncos re-bound and hopefully beat the wounded pats and get their game better.

—By the way the O did great but the pressure got to them..Notice Cutler was perfect on the opening drive and only missed a few if any before Marshal fumbled. Turnovers kill us…If we didnt have those turn overs and those HORRIBLE calls we would have won by atleast 3 points.

    Go Broncos!

  23. 07elway says:

Thanks 2champ4pickSIX… and I really do take that kind of stuff lightly I just had had enough of people… again I vented my frustration and that’s what popped out. And yes, I am a master of disguise, and apparently a pretty good one. Mostly, I responded to that little fruitcake b/c he assumed (and hopefully we all know what that means and how that turned out for our dear friend scott2212).

While I’m on here I mine as well stick to my own words and talk about football. I couldn’t agree more with you 2champ4pickSIX, and I enjoyed reading your comment too. Sometimes those long comments just pop out and by the time I’m done I don’t even realize I’ve written so much. There’s just so much to talk about. A good game or a bad one, there’s alway going to be something that we need to work on and something that gets everyone talking.

I really do hope Cutler can improve his game and accuracy, he’s just got so much to give to this team and leadership I just want to see him go above and beyond. He was getting good reviews from commentators and people on nfl.com but for the last 3 weeks he’s been overshadowed by mistakes the TEAM has made – it can’t all be put on him, he’s only human and he’s only one man on this team, he can’t play for the other 10 players on his side. He can only do his job that’s why we got him, he’s FANTASTIC at what he does and I want to see him do well.

One thing we REALLY need to work on, which we all know by now and I’m pretty sure we’re all tired of talking about it but it REALLY bugs me… turnovers. It’s something that’s gotten the worst of us and our team. It’s just to difficult to swallow that kind of stuff and more so b/c its happening more often. That scares me more than anything.

Oh and one more thing about Cutler, I’m sure its true but I find it really really hard to believe he said his arm strength was better than Elway’s because everytime he’s done a press conference or interview the interviewer always asks him about what he thinks about being compared to #7 and he never even tried to compare himself to Elway. And I haven’t been able to find that article to read it myself, I just find it really hard to believe Cutler would say something like that. About the only way I’d believe it is if there were a video interview with him saying that, proving he actually said it. I’m not asking anyone to give me a link for that so no need to go to that effort. Anyhoo….

Well, I hope scott2212 and the Blog Police don’t come and arrest me for writing more than a paragraph of a comment and giving a crap about this team. What a horrible thing it is for some of us – caring – fans to say what this team should fix. And I’m not apologizing to the Blog Police for this long comment.

Come on Orange & Blue, come out strong against New England on MNF… I can’t wait to watch it. Go get ‘em!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!

  24. scott2212 says:

ITS NOT EVEN LIKE THAT YOU PEOPLE HAVE NOBODY TO TALK TO ABOUT THE GAME WICH I MEAN BY FRIENDS OR G/F OR B/F SO YOU SPEND ALL YOUR TIME VENTING ON HERE AND ITS PATHETIC. I WENT TO THE OAKLAND GAME THIS YEAR REPPING THE BRONCOS BUT THINK ABOUT IT LOOK HOW MUCH YOUVE TYPED JUST TODAY AND I BET YOULL CHECK IT TONIGHT GOD WHAT A LIFE YOU HAVE. 26. 47rocksurworld says:

Wow after reading some of these posts thought i was reading the usually critical post writers, heh there was poor play on both sides of the ball. I really hate hearing how awful Dre is and our safety’s are. When you have champ on one side , heh guess what the ball is going to come to Dre’s side.In the last three weeks Champ has probably got thrown at 5 times and Dre probably thirty times. You can not be perfect every time, sunday he played very well, safety’s did better than you think. Seems like i saw some brook up passes, coverage that the pass had to be perfect and was. If Garrard has that much time in the pocket he can pass the ball perfectly. The pressure has to be turned up on the opposing QB, When you look at the last of the third quarter and the fourth we put some pressure on and got the ball back. Turnovers can hurt, but sometimes it just happens, some fans are saying that Cutler needs to shut up, some even say that we need to trade Cutler and Bly. John Elway retired, Cutler is still heads and tails above other QB’s he was drafted with, I sure as hell wouldn’t want any of them. Others are saying that Marshall should just go down after the catch, what the hell is going on, why the hell would you want the best young receiver in the NFL to be passive. Anybody who has ever played or coached would love to have this kind of talent on their team, quit the hating support your team, you can still offer unbiased assesments of your team, but lets not get carried away. This is a young team, they do things more veteran teams don’t but it is way to early to be doom and gloom, but if that is what you have to do at least go work for the post.

  27. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

    Fellow Bronco fans,

This weekend in Utah sucked as our CBS affiliate showed the Raiders/Saints instead of the Broncos. Throughout my life, we’ve ALWAYS had the Broncos on and it really angered me that Oakland/New Orleans was on. I did take solace in the fact that we had Falcons/Bears and Cowboys/Cards beamed to us and they were both good games. In any case, we’ll be fine. Cutler makes bad plays at times, but Eli Manning, last year’s Super Bowl MVP cost the Giants in the Monday-nighter at Cleveland. Yes, even the mighty Redskins and Giants as we saw this weekend fall short of their talent level when they turn the ball over. If the Broncos don’t cough up the ball, they’re tough to beat. Thus, let’s decimate the Patriots which we always do anyway, with or without “flamethrower” Brady. I agree Coop, jackasses ERRR print journalists (I’m a broadcast journalist, so that’s different) will do anything to sell a few copies. True Broncos fans have confidence, those on the fringe complain and say asinine things like “Cutler must go.” I’m not one of them Coop, thanks as always for your thoughts and GO BRONCOS!!!

  28. may25 says:

I’m amused that people on here are so shocked that 07Elway is female. Is it so hard to beleive that women understand the game of football that well? ;-)

I was at the bar (in TN) this weekend and the second that Cutler started missing the receivers and trying to force throws into double coverage someone said “Someone needs to check his blood sugar level”. Like that’s the only possible cause for a less than spectacular performance.

  29. mark_cooper says:

Hey!! That could have been the most entertainment I’ve had since we started blogging. I was laughing out loud a few times this morning at some of the comments back and forth. I love you guys and gals!

O.K. rules are: Anyone can write anything they want (and) as long as they want. I actually read them all. I don’t always agree with them but sometimes I pick up things I haven’t thought about and it gives me some insight. Also, you gals/guys can bust each other as much as you want but be nice!! LOL

So let’s agree to disagree and all have a good time here. I appreciate the thoughts and the ((heart)) that goes into the comments. It’s fun an entertaining for all of us. Most of you bleed Orange and Blue and that’s why we chat. Insight, blow off some steam, rant-rave, yell, it’s all good.

Back to football now. No one heard me blame the Refs because we got a (few calls) :o ) weeks back and I called it Mile High Magic. We’ll get some calls in our favor and we’ll get some against us, so you have to take the good with the bad. That’s life in the N.F.L. Remember a few weeks ago when we discussed the statistics as in Offense first and Defense last. I had never seen that before, hence the issues we are having on D.

Gonzales won’t be here, to expensive and inside the same conference, never happen. And the DB’s and LB’s didn’t get horrible overnight. You all know we need a pass rush and a blitz package that gets to the QB and makes the QB either nervous, have happy feet or he starts throwing the ball earlier. Pretty simple stuff….and yes, I”ll hang my hat on TURNOVERS…why…to many years in sports…..turnovers=losses, that’s the math, pure and simple, since I was in pee-wee football/basketball, except I was a BIG pee-wee. :o )

No one is dominating the AFC, and in the NFC, the Cowboys lost to the Cards….who’s the dominate force? The Browns beat the Giants. My point being, all we have to do is take it one game at a time and make the Playoffs.

Last comment because I’m getting long ;o) the injuires. Believe me when I say this, there isn’t a team in the league that can play without 3-4 of their starters and really compete these days. I’m a little worried about Stokley’s concussion. We all know what happend last year with all the injuries. A good team turns mediocre pretty quickly. If Stoleys out, we may see more of two-tightend offense and start pounding the ball and I’m glad Pittman is here!!

    Coop

  30. monodono says:

I hope Stokley is allright to. Two yaers ago I got Tboned on my motorcycle & broke my neck, Back, & fractured my skull but that was’nt the worst of it . The concussion was I could’nt rollover in bed for 2months without getting motion sickness it was terrable. Brandon take care of that head it’s the Best thing you have when you get old!
COOP your a class act GO TEAM!!!!!!!!
    GOD BLESS!

  31. Broncfalls says:

    Hey Coop,

Good hearing from you. Just a couple of things. Royal, Tony & Young out hurt. Actually, I was one that said it would be o.k and we would be fine., but I was wrong. Pittman was amazing at pounding the ball. He was acutally the only “fill in” without missing a beat.

But back to Tony & Royal, these are big targets and when you take Marshall out of the equation due to coverage….well things don’t tick right.

However, with that said, I still think we are fine. Turnovers killed us. In a sense we beat ourselves out there. KC was the same. I’ll take this loss, cuz I know we did it to ourselves. It wasn’t like someone was just outright beating us down…..

    It’s all good.

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

I have to agree with you coop, it’s fun reading one fan bash another for being a fan!!! lol.
It’s kinda like seeing a guy with three american flags on his truck tell the guy with only two american flags that he is un-patriotic! (funny stuff)

I also agree about the turnovers. We stopped our own momentum, and that hurts.

Looking down the schedule……it appears that the fight for the AFC West is happen may happen in San Diego on Dec. 28th. (Play-off before the Play-offs!)

    Whaddaya’ think Coop?

    Dear Coop,

You bring a lot of game “Cred” into this sight, and I for one am very appreciative. I fun to disagree and banter about. However, I find myself thinking about how it must feel to step on a professional field on Sundays. Your POV’s make good sense. You’re right, the math says turnovers ALWAYS kill you. Additionally, you can’t play without your starters, that’s why 2nd string is just that…2nd string. Doesnt mean they’re not good, it just means they’re not as good as the starters.

Keep the insights coming, and providing some commonsense perspective in here! As you’ve seen, we can get pretty wrapped around the axle at times…but it’s because we love this team so much, it’s like a spouse. You love’em when times are good, and you love’em when times are bad. However, the good times are much easier on us all…

COOP I got a question for ya.
Which would you rather have 3 turnovers or 3 3 & out’s ? I know the turnovers hurt more but I just cant forgive the 3 & out’s. Either way the D is sent back on the field & I cant take the lack of time of possesion it’s driveing me NUTS.
I’m obsessed, And I cant get up.
    I need a life line!

I can not tell you how my eyes lit up when I read your post Coop! Don’t know if many of you know but I had to make a new account (this one) and never really ever saw a blog writer post on his blog. So cudos for that Coop, really have always been a class act.
I can’t believe someone would want to trade Cutler! I mean I understand someone wanting to trade for him, but come on!? Bly I can see why people would say to trade him, but I totally disagree. I mean like I have always said and I’m glad you pointed it out again 47rocksurworld, that the ball has to be thrown somewhere, and it just happens to go to bly. I mean if we had champ, and nhamdi asomougha however you spell it, one of them would get criticized! I hated the 3-4 at first, but its starting to grow on me as we start to actually execute it. I couldn’t agree more though again Coop, blitz or get some sort of pressure on the qb, you explained all the problems it develops and pressure like I said, breaks down even the greatest of things!
One last thing before my signature final note, I want to apologize just in case for any low blows there scott2212. I went over the top with my lash at you, all I intended was simply put as if you didn’t want to read it, skip it and post.
Thanks again for a great read everyone, I rant and vent on here because I don’t have any friends as scott so kindly pointed out. ….. Just messin, but really no friends here in Utah that are serious bronco fans and it’s much more fun to discuss this with someone who understands and feels strongly about the situation. Oh ya and to the guy that said Utah whatever chose the raiders game over the broncos. What part of Utah do you live in, cuz the only 2pm game I got was on fox, cowboys cardinals.
I will always have faith in the team, just keep of the good work and work out the kinks. Broncos on the rise, a force to reckon with!

monodono & Broncfalls, not to bring up last year but we turned mediocre with the injuries so I’m hopeful these guys heal up if not this week, at least after the bye week. Royal and Scheffler hurt are targets that help Brandon with the double coverage break free from time to time. Stokley is critical too.

Oh, monodono, I hope your not riding that bike anymore or I may have to question you?? Also, 3-3 & outs versus turnovers, anyday because it doesn’t shift momemtum as quickly and cost you points which in this league it usually will.

thundersrevenge, your comment on the San Diego game may ring more factual than you think. I agree. I liked the flag comparison…it’s about passion…..blue and orange!!

Hogblog, thanks, I’m having as much fun as you and ejoy sharing a different perspetive. I even watch the game differently.

2champ4pickSIX, were all having fun and get a little wrapped up in the action and the comments, so not to worry, the comment on trading Cutler. I haven’t heard that one but no one remembers but back when #7 was here the guys at the paper wrote stuff like that too, so nothing would surprise me these days. I can’t tell you how much better off we are with him versus the snake and Greise.

Think about it, run around the league in your head and count the QB’s that are real standouts…better yet, look at the stats.

Last note: I”ll catch you all after the game on the next post, headed to Key West for a charity fishing tournament over the weekend that was cancelled by the hurricane last month. Check out the series at http://www.redbone.org. I have a rematch with Wade Boggs for celebrity champion, he got me last year by one fish. :o ) sissy baseball players!!!!

    COOP

  37. monodono says:

COOP you’re right, I would reluctantly take the 3 3 & out’s as well but my coaches & players would pay for it in practice ! ! ! This is something the TEAM should be able to control and the turnovers are just bad luck.
Just like in fishing, THE ONLY LUCK IN FOOTBALL IS BAD LUCK THE REST IS SKILL. If you study, put yourself in the right position, use the proper PRESENTATION & DELIVERY, use the right gear, & your technique is sound you should trounce that sissy baseball player! unless you run into some bad luck.
Sadly enough I dont have a bike right now.
    GO COOP ! ! ! ! GO BRONCOS ! ! ! ! !
