This post will probably get the same hundreds of responses that the Raider game last year warranted. Tough day…had a few of these over a seven year career.
The toughest part is while it’s happening, you’re trying to get something started. You’re in the huddle talking amoungst each other about getting the next first down. On the sideline the coaches aren’t pleased and every little mistake is magnified. You’re looking over the fronts the opponent are playing and talking about the way they are playing them. You’re fixing mistakes and getting a mini plan together for the next series and you head back out on the field and 3 and out before you know it and it’s like groundhog day all over again. No matter how pissed you get it keeps happening with a breakdown somewhere in the play. One guy/player each time.
Everyone’s trying to rally. It’s not going your way. Your fighting to do the best you can and it seems you’d have been better not getting out of bed that day. Sometimes it’s just a flat day at the park. Ask the New Orleans Saints this past weekend as they were beat by the Rams. And their fans were hoping for Luck in the first round??? Who knows.
Next days FILM….ohhh the dreaded film, back and forth, back and forth, slow motion, every mistake AMPLIFIED in slow motion, you know it coming and you almost contort your body into the right position……trying to fix the mistake you know you made, as if you can fix it before it plays up on the huge monitor. Talk about Halloween….it is!! FILM never lies.
It’s not a one man team. Patience. Yep, said it before and that’s the (Theme), really for the next 3-4 years. You have to let this staff have their fair shot at bringing in the talent and making the trades they see fit to run a organization they built not McDaniels and the prior staff. I have patience, do you??

GO BRONCOS!!

I have always read these blogs for the past few years and a lot of you turn on our team too quickly. TT has 5 starts and you want to compare his play to Orton 7 years…HTF! TT will learn to read coverages by week 13 and if not he’ll learn during the offseason. How many off-seasons has Tim Tebow had? How many with DT? How many with ER? Tebow messed up during the game, but he did make some accurate throws in that game that were dropped. Did you see how fast that Lions D-Line was getting to him. Foundation starts up front, the problem i seen with TT is timing and reading coverages. He hasn’t had a chance to work on timing with his receivers because they’ve been hurt and Elway couldn’t read coverages his first few starts either. I think we can win with TT..how many times do you see Brady out of the spread offense? If we go spread right now, TT will be successful and he can learn to be that Iform type QB in the offseason but not right now…McD ran a spread out offense and TT is perfect for that type of offense, thats why HE drafted TT. Timing comes with patients. Support your team and LETS GO BRONCOS!!!
Side note..I think he should sign T.O., his work ethic can make a positive impact on our WR core. Champ and Dawk can keep down the drama.
Dawk couldn’t keep the drama down in philly with TO. So no TO.
We aren’t comparing Tebow to Orton, we are saying the offense is the same regardless of QB.
I think with time and “COACHING” and proper game planning and offensive adjustments during the game that Tebow will improve. But our play calling needs to tailor to more confidence building plays early on to get the QB into the game. And adjust to give him quick routes to throw to when the D comes after him, like they’ve been doing. That’s on the OC to make those calls. Where’ve they been?
Even Lynch yesterday during the game was pointing that out. While the fans may not know as much about football as the coach, we do know when something isn’t working you change it. Whether that be on the fly during the game or after. But the coaching staff is not showing they can game plan correctly or adjust on the fly. Not saying we fire them but at the end of this season a long hard look must be made at the whole organization, not just 1 piece.
Hey Coop! What did you really think of the game? Lol.

Got to feel for the guys out there on the field when nothing is going right. There’s no place to hide from the embarrasment from getting the tar whooped out of you. The only thing I can thing of more deflating may have been some of the superbowl beating the Bronocs took many years ago. Such high expetations and such demoralizing results. The sun will come up tomorrow and the guys will get their chance to beat down on some Raiders. It takes time to build a team like the current superbowl champs, in the mean time I’ll be cheering for the Orange and Blue regardless we win or lose. It’s only a matter of time and I’ll be glued to the screen cause I ain’t going to miss it when it happens. Go Broncos!
Some of these posts are laugable….the difference between Elway and Tebow….uhhh….TALENT! No one didnt think Elway could play. Look at where he was drafted. Tebow was a fluke first round pick. Second rule in the nfl were different then. Pass interference was not called. You could hit the quarterback. The game was totally different not slanted for the offensive players to succeed. Playcalling is predicated on the defense that is played. You cant run screens with eight men in the box. U r gonna get the back killed. I watched the game….when we caled screens Detroit read the back. Bubble screens work when the cb is playing off….they were in press man all game….not the pass to call. Slants require the qb to be accurate….we threw a slant on the goal line….100 yards later……you get the point. Tebow’s problem is he cannot throw…..Cam is six starts in and he looks good….Dalton….Ponder…look good. Bradford did well last year…so stop babying Tebow….either he bette r play better or ride the pine….all the wishy washy TEBOW FANS….who dogged Orton because he threw a pick six….tebow threw one..fumbled one and all….the difference Orton was good enough to recover from mistakes…LEADERSHIP? No one asked to get traded because Orton was starting…..did Champ look happy out there…listless performance all around….bbut people said TEBOW wouldnt let that happen….he needs to play like an NFL qb…nnot a college one with 19 NFL players on the roster…..people forgot about that at Florida…..POUNCEY TWINS??? HARVIVN? MURPHY????? How could he fail…We are not out of it in a very mediocre division….unless we keep this Tebow experiment continue to fail. In the NFL one man cannot make u win…..but he sure can make u lose.
What I’ve been saying all day but dont forget the Tebow Luck Smith comparisson made lol
First of all I was disappointed when they didn’t hire Swenson as head coach. Swenson is a true Bronco. Has played for & coached for the Broncos for many years, they should have given him a chance. Foxes offensive scheme has no variety. My two sons & myself sit in the living room & take turns calling the plays & 70% of the time we are right. If we know whats going on then I’m sure all the other teams know also. Is it that the pass routes are taking to long to develop or are the receivers not getting open or Tebow just can’t find them. My opinion is alot of bad play calling & the pass routes are to deep & we have no one out in flat to throw to if the rush is to strong. All teams are going to stop the run (of course I think I can stop Moreno & I’m 60 yrs. old)
& then speed rush Tebow on passing downs. I think we should shorten our pass routes & have an outlet receiver in the flat so Tebow can get rid of the ball quicker. Of course I don’t think Fox or Mccoy are smart enough to think of that. The receivers need to get open quicker & stop going for the long pass all the time. With Moreno the run game suck.
Someday everything will all make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the haters, smile through the tears, and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason… Risky305… well said… Go Broncos… I will always bleed orange
Mark Cooper, THANK YOU for speaking some reality into all the blame game I’ve been reading. Patience is needed like you said, as well as our SUPPORT while they grapple through new approaches. We don’t expect a baby to instantly walk. They will take steps and stumbles along the way. Same here! This team is worth supporting rather than crucifying. All the negativity accomplishes precisely nothing…except perhaps harming their ability to keep at it when it’s brutally hard.
Let’s show them some patience as fans. They need hard work, creativity, patience and support to do this thing. They’ve got my support.
GO BRONCOS.
risky305, you’re right about some folks and BeastFromEast92, on the Rams…do you think they wouldn’t take him even with Bradford?? Or make a trade to improve their pick position within the first round? Thnk about that one?
sndvl, I thinkwe took some steps back on the offensive and defensive lines and this is about the time of year that other teams in the League start to get a read on wat your tendancies are and hae enough stats on you down and distance, efficiencies, blitz package tendancies, etc, so if your not changing things upit can get ugle kinda like the year we went 6-0 and never won another game.
Now defenses are going to make us pass and stack the line of scrimmage and stop the run. McGahee’s out so we have our work cut out for us and will really know how good our offensive line will ro won’t be. Simple fact i we are short players and depth and until that gets fixed we will stay in the middle to bottom of the pack and that takes patience, time and new/more players.
We’ll need to create a plan around Tebows strengths and weaknesses and he needs playing time in the heat of the battle just like ALL young players do.
Tough love but we can improve as a team while that happens.

GO BRONCOS!!
It is great to read a little bit about your experiences, Mr. Cooper, and I, for one, deeply appreciate your willlingness to share a bit about them. It doesn’t feel good to lose games, but after a season, I found for myself, as a player, losses go away, eventually, and the question you are left to answer is how do you feel about yourself, and the way you played for the year. Having grown up a Bronco fan, I learned that football is not a game where you expect wins, but is a game of strategy, implemented by discipline and will, matching and countering an adversary’s strength, speed and determination, with one’s own. It is difficult for a team to maintain the continuity required to build a winning team. It is a process that can literally require a lifetime. As far as winning Championships, I know that as a longtime Bronco fan, winning a single Championship was something special and privileged — my attitude was a Championship win was something to be grateful towards for all time — and then, to win a second Championship, back to back — there weren’t any words to describe it, although, to be honest, I was more conceited about it back then, than retrospective.
I am not a Tebow lover. I but I am looking for a W no matter who is under center. But, I saw several things that as a team raised serious question marks for me. And possibly made me think we are farther off than I thought. First of all, Tebow is young and is going to have trouble with coverage’s. I did think there could have been better play calling. I didn’t know the game plan, and I don’t know what Fox is telling McCoy, but I have doubted the play calling all year. In the games I saw Orton hardly ever threw long and now that’s all Tebow is being asked to do in these past two games. I understand the 8 man in the box situation, but there has to be some three step drops that can be thrown against an 8 in the box.
They got away from some things that in my humble opinion are some of Tebow’s strengths. He does have problems with getting the ball out on time but he did have a few good three step drops in the second half. But, they went away from it. I remember only seeing one bootleg and Tebow had to throw that away. Why not try that again? What about a straight roll out? Change the point of release, to make the defense read something. They only threw 2 screens that I saw. They tried play action pass, 7 step drop all day from the pocket A.) that isn’t Tebow strength, being from the pocket and B.) is not playing to your strengths against Detroit’s front 7 or even 4 for that matter. I just saw him try to make long throws in duress all game and I thought would have been extremely difficult for any QB much less a player like Tebow. If you watched the game, Stafford had shorter completion points to his receivers and a more diverse play calling, (screens, three step drops ect) than Tebow had and he is the better QB.
On Tebow’s fumble Detroit rushed 4 guys and three of them hit him before he had a chance to get rid of the ball. Quick release or not, that is unsat for the offensive line. The whole game was frustrating and raised more questions for me than answered. Next week, the O-line will be pushed around again because they can pick up a blitz (as seen against Green Bay) but they don’t do well against a physical defensive line. I hope there is a better game plan that helps Tebow out and sets him up for success. I dont think there isn’t a QB on the roster that could execute what was tried on Sunday.
Go Broncos
Hiring John Fox for the Bronco head coach was a big mistake. Look what he did with the Panthers last year. His offensive scheme doesn’t work. It may have worked 15 yrs. ago but not in todays pro football. All the other teams already know what his game plan is because he has no variety in his scheme either that or McCoy just does not know how to call plays. Is it the coaching or do we have 2 QB’s that failed miseribly. I think its the coaching & the coaches offensive scheme. I’m afraid that if we try all our QB’s that every one of them will fail because of what I’ve said about the coaches & their scheme. John I think you made your first mistake as VP.
Definitely have a good point amschroed89!!
