I was reading the paper between shoveling this Friday and Saturday. Had a crazy week at the office with closings at the end of the day in a snow storm Friday. If you’re from here you know EXACTLY what I mean, wow, spring storms…crazy! Hope everyone was safe!!
The schedule came out and Krieger, I think, says 5-11. Before we get to far into the draft talks and picks…you guys are really good at this and I wanted to get your opinion on the schedule. We’ll have plenty of time to talk draft but I was really curious of your opinion and thoughts are on the schdeule???
COOP

IF MCHOODIE DON’T FIX THE DEFENSE this year, I don’t care whether your a pro-bowl QB, a 1st round rookie wonder boy QB, or a QB that’s been traded here or recently signed as a back up; you’re going to have to put up over 28 points to even have a chance to win games – the reasoning is that the Orange Peel defense gave up an average of 28 points a game.
No defense = 5-11 season
With a defense = 9-7 season
With a defense and a few botched calls our way = 10-6
With a defense, a few botched calls, a franchise QB = 12-4
Those are my predictions. Let me put my riot gear on now since it seem like a few will be reaching for some blunt objects. XD
If I’m not mistaking didn’t an ordinary Joe(as you say it) win superbowls. Lets see there was Brady(its true fans with the system make him great He couldn’t beat out Griese in college)Dillfer, Brad Johnson, Mark Rippen, and I could go on and on. All of the bitter I can’t believe we traded our guy fan fell in love with all the SportCenter highlights. I remember a time when you played a Mike Shannahan team. WE have players on the D-line to stop the run like Neil,Trevor,Traylor, Williams, and so on. The reason Ray Rhodes and Jim Bates left is that Mike drafted playes that would stop his offense not mesh with the scheme the D had at the time. For years Peyton was killing us so we let that big run stopping DEs and DTs go. Which made us start drafting small speed rushers. The thinking was our DB are getting beat because were not getting any pressure on him. Now look at the games when we play a team that has a since or play calling of a westcoast offense we shut them down. Now look at the team that run that old Jimmy Johnson type Dallas offense or Parcel’s Giant type of O we get hammered. Why is that? (I’ll see what comes down the pike before I post my answer. I’ll give some really tactical football head to drop there thoughts.) FYI BRANDON WILL NOT BE SUSPENDED! You never had an old girlfriend mad at you hitting on you so you push her off you and she run call the police saying you hit her? Then police start talking to her and then find out she did it over spite! Thats his situation he’s good!
All I can say is it’s a bad time to lose a veteran coach and franchise QB. I believe Shanahan would have addressed the defense this year if he had the opportunity, but now all I can see is that we have the wonder boy coach and two QB’s that haven’t done anything special ever! And we are going to try to get away from Broncos Football in favor of Patriots West…and that’s supposed to fix the team…not holding my breath
I say if we trade down any where we should leave usc qb sanchez alone…(played only one season and all of a sudden he likes he can play in the nfl)…..and pick an explosive rb to bring in and develop and next year grab a qb…..if sanchez stayed in school and had another great season I say he would be our pick next year…b/c he is a mcd qb type with the quick release. I take the rb thing back raji or jackson at our number 12….I dont know just excited…….I don’t have a fix on our record but I do think we will make the playoffs.
I fell you on the DB and S position but Barret has to learn from Dawkins. The death of Darrent hurt us more than people realize. Champ was never the problem but I’ve seen only 2 true games when he got killed back in the day when Carson and Chad tourched us. Had Champ Questioning his greatness.(no pun intended with the name phrase lol) Also this year at chargers when it was clear he should not be out there but what could he do we had none else! Dre’ used to get tourched FREQUENTLY! In the Draft when we got Darrent we Drafted 2 more DBs who are not with us and Foxworth is the only one we got something for. Darrent was better that DRe’ and 9 years younger that hurt us dramaticly! If Champ stay healthy he got give (im not even gonna try and spell his name so the guy from the Raiders) lol Mike trid to switch but it was to late if you remember in the 2nd game of the season they had at times Doom at OLB in the 3-4 but thats how the Chargers came back( the Sproils screen play for example) He thought he had the time to do this we know now he didn’t. They don’t need any LBs They need 2 DEs and 1 big Ron Brace type (hint) of NT. The Broncos brass knows this so thats why they working out Sanchez because its only one DE worth the 1st rd pick.(Jackson)Fellas its sad to say but I think the Lions are not going to take Stafford so Sanchez is gonna drop. Jags are gonna keep there pick if Crabtree falls as well. (which I think he will)Stafford will go to San Fran And we’ll take SAnchez thats why MCd didn’t really go for real. HE gonna put that pick all on X and McCoy. So all ya get your hate ready cuz its gonna happen! Best player there type of pick! With the top 3 picks its all about economy their gonna be safe that sorry! We need to Beef up the D-Line. Jackson Well be there at 18. You need to look at need rather than the bright lights of name and college they went to. They put ownus on a QB comming out of the first mini camp. So after they finish pleasing all the Cutler fans they will do the D-line then back up DBs and Special team players. We need a Return guy to help out Eddie remember he’s a starting WR to and I think toward the end of the year he ran out of gas some. Thats why you see all those big plays but he get caught from behind later on in the season? Who was the return guy before? GOD REST HIS SOUL DARRENT WILLIAMS!
For the first time in 10-years the Broncos have a professional coaching staff. You have to go back to Dan Reeves era to find such an experienced staff. I look forward to seeing Denver improve and it won’t take too long just wait and see what “leadership, teaching, and mentorship” will do to get Broncos back with the elite teams.
A friend of mine and a Broncos fan sent me this in a email im just passing it along to all the other fans!(thinkin he did send me vids of it but I’m not tryna get in trouble for showing it) lol
I was at his workout today and when we got there he was in the coaches office with Xanders and McCoy watching tape. Mark came out around noon and warmed up it was about 85-90 degrees with a slight breeze. The Broncos had him primarily work on intermediate passing routes of about 25 yards between the 45 and 30 yard lines, throwing balls to various receivers one of which was Patrick Turner his #1 receiver at USC. Former NFL QB Rob Johnson and his father split the workout duties with the Broncos and McCoy. Sanchez worked some roll out drills as well as short out patterns. At one point they took a quick break, Sanchez passed out water to all the receivers showing his appreciation for them coming out and helping him out. Then for about 20-30 minutes they moved him back to around the 30-35 yard lines and had him throw some deep routes down the left sidelines (60-65 yards) which he made look effortless. The zip on his short passes were incredible, his footwork looked great and his movement was fluid as well. Anyone who says this guy doesn’t have “arm strength” is crazy! He’s in great shape and worked out with his shirt off most of the afternoon. The Broncos looked impressed with his overall skills. Around 1:15 pm they all gathered at the 50, shook hands and spoke for about 5 minutes. I spoke with Mark’s father after the workout and he said the Mark is really enjoying himself and is looking forward to this weekend. Additionally rumor has it that the Broncos brass were taking Sanchez to dinner and the Lakers’ playoff game tonight versus Utah. As a side note, Brian Cushing also was in attendance and began warming up as we were leaving. I am assuming that he came down to also hold an impromptu workout for the Broncos. He is a physical specimen to say the least and I for one left the field thinking that this could be the future of our franchise! I think we would be in good hands with Sanchez running the offense and Cushing running the defense for the next several years!
If Sanchez can throw the long ball with ease, then I think we should get him, because the rest of his game is solid. The more video I see of Sanchez, the better I like him over Stafford. However, I think Sanchez won’t be around by the 12th pick. So the only way we’d get him is to move up on the board. I think bringing him on board would sure expedite a playoff run, with the new offensive scheme he would be able to compete right away with Orton and Simms.
Still, we should probably go with defense unless the new faces brought in are adequate enough to improve 100% over last years D. Holding teams to 14 points a game would sure help out the offense.
I like Cushing, but I think we have a solid corp of line backers already.
I think that Sanchez is gonna be great one day, but i don’t think that denver should pursue him due to lack of “experience”,if you will. He only played one fulle year and 16 total games for the Trojans. Don’t get me wrong, i think that he is great and ive seen him play several times, but i think that with our defense in the terrible state that it is in, i doubt that Sanchez will be the right choice. I can tell you that there will be any of these three at #12 overall come draft day 1) Rey Maualuga 2) BJ Raji or 3) Aaron Maybin. Tyson Jackson is the pick according to Todd McShay, but i do believe that he may slip to probably 16 and go to SD (things that make you go UUH!!!!) I think that if we do take Jackson at 12, Brian Cushing or the DE from Virginia (can’t remember his name) will be there at 18. Then denver takes Brace or another lineman at 48. if we were going to take a QB, make it Graham Harrell. He played three full years if i remember correctly, and set several passing records for the Big 12. He is also a late third-early fourth round pick.
12) Maualuga
18) Jackson
48) Brace
79) ?
84) Harrell
COOP!
This is a tough schedule, especially starting on the road at the beginning of the season and aftert the bye week and then the three games after that in so close to each other. TOUGH, but not out of reach.

TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !
GO BRONCOS ! ! !
Jeez, what happened to answering Coops question?
As much as I don’t like McD and his changes, he seems to have a plan and the players are all positive and motivated. I think it comes down to how well the coaches make adjustments as needed, game by game, and how well the team picks up the new offensive and defensive schemes.
9-7 at the worst and maybe 11-5 at best. Tough schedule, but this is no push over team.
GO BRONCOS!
lol We been answered his question just other things came up! 11 wins
My theory new team and coaches. New players and scheme! New attitude!
If we get Sanchez with the 12th pick and Raji with the 18th, i think we go 10-6
I’m like Raji at 12, then Maualuga at 18 only because of what we need to accomplish on the D….BUT it could be tough to pass up Moreno if he’s still on the board??
I don’t think Sachez will be around or will Denver move up to get him, this will be an interesting draft? I always wait a day to see how it really irons out with after draft trades, etc.
No doubt we need Defensive players, so I’ll be listening to the radio all day.
Sanchez and Raji will both be gone before the 12th pick.I believe that we only tried Sanchez out was just in case he would fall to the 12th pick.I think we will finish 7-9 worse or 9-7 best.
P.S. What happen to everybody’s season record pick???
I thought you all would have a guess?
By the way I like Monodonos pick at #48 DT Ron Brace 6-3/329/ SR- Boston College. That would round out my first three picks for Defense.
This may sound wierd but what I saw of Stafford??? Not sure it warrants a number 1 pick in the draft. I’m a little supect of his size and I watched a lot of Georgia games as Coach Mark Richt was one of my college room mates so I pull for the Dogs in the SEC and I hate Florida, like I hate the Raiders.
I wish him and everyone of those guys the best, but coupled with going to the Lions…could be a tough way to start a NFL career for a young QB. Hmmm
COOP!
I will be listening to the radio all day as well, fishing the tail waters of Catamount res./ Yampa river. Can’t wait to get into some of those bruders.
Personally I think The Broncos need more help in the backfield thats why I picked CB Malcolm Jenkins 6-1/201/ SR- Ohio State as my first pick at #12. I also think DT Ron Brace 6-3/329/ SR- Boston College is the better True NT and will do the dirty and unselfish work needed in the 3-4, He is a big part of why Raji is projected were He is. Raji got all the praise while Brace eat up double teams. Thats what The Broncos need the most out of the 3-4 NT position.
I also like DT Terrance Taylor 6-0/319/ SR- Michigan, NCAA Wrestleing Champ and powerlifting Champ, This guy will command a double team as well.
As far as Stafford going to Detroit, I have my doubts but That would be par for Detroits course.
TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !
GO BRONCOS ! ! !
No doubt this would be a challenging season with an experienced team, our Broncos however, are untried and tested, losing our QB is something we are going to feel this season, and since none of us can predict whether the changes in D will be effective I can only hope for the best. This will be one of the most ???? seasons I have seen in my 35+ years as a fan, so I am keeping my fingers crossed and my cooler stocked. But it’s springtime and like some other fans here I have my fishing tackle out and heading up for some early mountain fishing.
GO BRONCOS
10-6 because our D is going to dominate this season.
If there is a silver lining to this, the schedule they have been given is a blessing. This team has to mature, grow, fine tune, and despite what some are saying . . .rebuild. We have been mired in the Shanahan world for at least 9 years too long. While I feel that Mike Shanahan is bound for Canton, He overstayed his ability to coach in Denver. This schedule will make or break them. If they come out with a winning record, great. If not, then it means more needs to be done. If growing is needed why not with a young coach with fresh ideas and coaching styles. It’s sad to think we as fans have to go through another period of rebuilding, but it happens to the best. It happened to Pittsburgh, San Fran. and Dallas.
Waiting to hear what the draft brings so….let’s change gears and see what the day brings.
Interesting all the speculation all week and today up until draft time.
LOVE STINKS COMMENTS, alot like mine it getting a young QB that’s going to come in and get killed behind a line that can’t protect him and has no running game. Tough way to start an NFL career.
Let’s go to the next post.
we will be luck to get 5 wins.
Why the hell did we give our first next year? That’s probably going to be a top 10 pick the way our schedule looks. Damn frustrating.
Wow, any potential optimism that I could have had has been tempered with the fact that the DL that was/is broken remains unaddressed. I’ll be happy to be wrong, but the meat of this schedule is going to punish this defense and the O will be playing from behind all of the time. I don’t think this O will be able to post the numbers that our defense will allow to produce many wins, if any. I originally thought that there could be wins at the end of the season, but if this team is beaten up and demoralized enough after running the gauntlet that they are going to face, they may have checked out by that point. One has to wonder if Mr. Bowlen is second guessing his master plan in his mind. I know that I am. Given the fact that Shanny is still on the payroll, IMO Denver would have been better off keeping him as the coach in the short term and likely make a playoff run this coming season instead of the spring fiasco we all went through and the even larger potential fiasco that awaits us this fall and winter. Should be interesting.
