I got all the snow blown and the rest shoveled in time for the game. Maybe we’d have been better playing here this week. A snow bowl would have been great for the ski country. I don’t know about you all but I’m in shoveling shape.
Tough going in Washington. I enjoyed the running game and was impressed that we were getting that back on track and the blah blah blah about going vertical was taken care of early…simple. It’s easy to run a go route when you set it up with the run when you have guys like Royal and Marshall around.
The defense was dominated at the line of scrimmage and injuries are mounting. We talked about it earlier in the year and may be looking it right in the face now. Simms was rusty as we should expect and he’ll get a lot of work this week in preparation for the Bolts. I still like him but he took a lot of criticism after the game on the radio.
Boy, the stats we’re ugly in every category, almost not worth mentioning at this point. Tough day in the trenches. I said don’t panic last week but I’m a little concerned now myself in that the defense is taking it on the chin and I’m not sure what the fix is.
The fake field goal hurt when they showed it early and you have to rack that up to inexperience and a great roll out buying time by the kicker.
Hochstein played great at left guard. I was impressed and the Redskins put Haynesworth over Clady? You go figure that one out.
Folks were killing the team on the radio shows after the game. I had some errands to run and WOW, was I surprised how fast folks go for the throat. Concerned is one thing…still fixable….but jumping all over the guys is another.
After a game like that, it’s get over it quick…regroup…learn from mistakes and get back on the horse and let’s go get the Bolts.
New week, New gameplan and go. Great questions last week and I’ll always try to answer specifically or globally.
Go Broncos!! Big game this week to stay in the hunt.

That was a tough loss. Jay Glazer reported that Orton will not play next week, but I haven’t heard it anywhere else. I would rather see Tom B. over Simms, but I’m just a fan so what do I know. The D is struggling and that fake field goal for a TD was a hard one to swallow. Big game next week.
Go Broncos!
This is really bugging me… why didn’t McD call a timeout when the Redskins showed that they were going to run a fake field goal? In fact, the Redskins showed they were going to run a fake, called a timeout, and our team still didn’t make the adjustment. Next week is a big game and the season is far from over.
tough loss..Lets get ready for nxext week. so much things to work on..I agree, the trenches definitely not the highlight of the day, tackling a bit troubling..but I still love this team…
Bring the bolts here..welcome to 1 mile above sea level..lol..
good game for Marshall.
Hope Orton heals fast and Simms shakes off the rusts…
Brandstaters should be ready for sunday’s backup role
The last three games have made it pretty clear that the defense can’t overcome the offense’s miscues in the second half. The O needs to sustain some drives to let the D regroup.
Simms deserved whatever criticism he took on the radio. Playing like utter garbage then laughing it up? That’s not going to fly.
The hard truth is that we have no chance of winning next week with Simms as our starting QB.
Like I said, the Redskins are a classis trap game. Well, at least the “Orton can’t throw long” crowd will finally shut up. And, with 23 yards total in the second half, those who wanted to not have Orton playing got their wish in the worste way. Simms was terrible and it exhausted our defense. But, like you said, Coop, bring on the Bolts. All the weeping, moaninmg and gnashing of teeth won’t change a thing. So, on to report card.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Punt coverage: D- A 17 yard punt followed by a 60+ yard punt that rolled at least 20 yards!!! Berger is not the answer to our punting woes.
Punt return: C- Not even a hint of breaking one.
Kicking coverage: B+ Praterfinally boomed one. Close to the 20 on all kick offs.
Kick return: C- Blah, blah blah, same story.
OFFENSE
QB
Orton A+ Yes he can and did throw tyhe long ball successfully.
Simms D- GGAAHHHH!!!!
RB
KM A- He’s finally showing why he was considered the best RB in the draft.
Buckhalter D- Ball control!!!
OL: C Opened some nice holes for the running game.
WR: B+ Nice to see B Marsh bust some big ones.
DEFENSE
DL D+ Couldn’t stop the run in the sceond half.
LB D+ Same
SECONDARY C+ No big gainers
I think our biggest game is next week… If we win, then we can get back our momentum and division and continue riding out the season..
But, if we lose, it’ll be THAT MUCH more tuff…
We can do it though…
Orton finally gets going throwin’ deep and he gets hurt..man what a blow. The D looks like they had a meltdown this week. I saw an awful lot of arm tackling. I know they were on the field for a signifcant portion of the 2nd half. We’re still OK, we must beat SD. This weeks game could very well be the deciding factor of who wins the AFC West.
I said some things yesterday on the blog that I apologize for. Some profanity that was un-called for. I’m sorry if anyone was offended. I usually don’t get so upset, well actually I do but I just don’t post those comments. Sorry to the website and fans.
I know everyone is saying are D is looking bad but think about it its hard to keep going strong in the game when you are on the field for more than half of the game. If are O could keep it going all game like we did in the first or like we were doing in that 4th for the first six games then I think are D would be ranked number 1 right now.
The good news is that the Chargers, Colts and Eagles are the only “good” teams left on the schedule. Good is in quotes for a reason. Yes, we lost to a 2-6 Redskins team, but things MIGHT have been different should Kyle Orton have stayed in the game.
Chargers still have to play a red hot Bengals team, an on again off again Cowboys team in Dallas, and a Titans team that has seemed to finally find their identity. Maybe.
So even if the Broncos beat the Chargers, there’s no guarantee that they’ll “win out.” But it doesn’t look good when we’ll still have to go to Indy, and yet another EARLY game on the east coast in Philly.
Same goes for the Chargers. They’ll be pumped on Sunday, knowing that the Broncos blew it…. yet again, and the Chargers are back within an arm’s reach. But they have 2-3 challenging games between now and the end of the year.
The winner of the West will come from whoever finishes the strongest, but Sunday’s game will be an ever so important start in that ever so important finish.
But this week, is a playoff game in my opinion. You can’t continue to let the San Diego Super Sucking Chargers keep coming into our back yard, only to hand our rear ends to us… yet again.
Broncos need to man up, and stop the bleeding. This week would be a good week for that. Time to pull (most) of the tricks out the bag. I was thinking that McD was saving Hillis and going “down field” for a playoff run, but this week is when the playoffs start.
Hillis needs to get some carries to beat up that Chargers defense, and Simms (if he plays), needs to bring his A game, and keep plays alive. Broncos can win this one, but they’re gonna have to SHOW UP. They haven’t shown up for 3 straight weeks, and they didn’t show up in week 17 against San Diego last year. They knew that they couldn’t hang with such a P.O.’d Chargers team, and so they rolled over. They can hang now, and they need to play like it.
PS. Can everyone let go of the “Immaculate Deflection” game, please?! Sheesh! It’s as bad as the Ed Hochuli game last year… “Well, if it wasn’t for that bad call, Broncos would have one more loss.” “Well, if it wasn’t for a miracle, LUCKY play, Broncos would have one more loss.” I’m sick of it!
Who’s to say that the Chargers would have ran out the clock last year?! It’s not like they were exactly moving the ball with ease! The Broncos were the ones who ran the same play TWICE, to get a TD and 2 points.
And who’s to say that a Bengals DB wouldn’t have fallen down on the next play, and Orton would have chucked it deep to B-Marsh?!
Yeah, in each game it might be a “stretch”, but it’s not like there was a decent amount of time left in each game.
And besides, the Broncos were beating the Bengals (in Cincy), for 59 minutes! Don’t tell me that they didn’t “earn” that game.
A win is a win, and a loss is a loss. No matter how you spin it.
If we kept saying “if it weren’t for…” the Steelers would have a few less rings, and so would the Pats. And the Raiders would have MORE rings! Sick!
All the way from the “Immaculate RECEPTION”, to the “Tuck Rule”, to Jerome Bettis’ fumble on Indy’s 1 yard line (that wasn’t returned for 6), to the “Holy Roller” and the “Music City Miracle.”
Broncos won! Fair and square! A deflection is still within the rules. Give credit to the Broncos for being in a one score position that the deflection even made a difference!
Man, even 104.3 the fan is still bringing up that “miracle play” Let it go! They won! Be happy!
You shouldn’t have to be sorry, nor make excuses for WINNING!
Thanks for reading. I’m out.
Coop, like you, I am very concerned over our D. Lots of people are blaming Simms over this loss and saying it’s the O’s fault that the D is on the field so much which explains why they are getting beat of late. Well, while those points have some merit, look at what happened yesterday:
On their very first drive of the game, the Skins drove it down the field in 12 plays for over 70 yds in more than 6 minutes to score their first TD. Where was Simms then, how long had the D been on the field? You get the point.
Why is it this year that the fans have been so quick to blame our O for all our short comings, and so reticent to say one bad thing about our D? I call it like I see it, our D was atrocious against the run for the second week in a row:
THE SKINS RAN FOR 174 YARDS RIGHT DOWN OUR THROAT!!!!
Yeah Simms really blew it (sarcastic). About him, I also blame McD for his performance. Obviously it was evident he had not given a thought that Orton would go down, because it was obvious Simms had no idea what the game plan was, he just got thrown into a Bear pit with nothing but his bare butt, excuse the pun!
Unlike a lot of folks out here who say everything will be ok, don’t count me in. We already have succeeded in the span of three weeks of going from leading the division by 3 games to been tied for the lead with SD. SOUNDS FAMILIAR, EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END OF LAST YEAR.
Now we are looking at a 4 game losing streak, the Chargers will be bent on revenge, they are getting better at the right time of the year like they do every year, and we most likely will be without our starting QB, there is very little to be excited about now, regarding either the division title or a wild card possibility. They have both become quickly a pipe dream. Don’t get me wrong, we still control our destiny, but rest aware this very well could be the last week we are in this position. Either way you look at it, what’s going on is trouble some to say the least, but as I said through the off-season an 8-8 season would be a successful season to me as I consider this a rebuilding year even so most here hate to look at it this way. I am glad I still have something to hold onto, we can beat Oakland and KC at home, right?
@ 83 Amen.
We’re seeing improvement from week to week in each of the three phases of the game. We just need them to come together at the same time in the same game from week to week. We saw Royal spark it during the 1st meeing with SD, the first 6 games our D was top notch, Orton ignited it yesterday with the deep threat (which teams will hopefully now respect), Prater making his kicks, Berger having some good punts and some bad ones (like the 16 yd punt yesterday), Moreno showed the reason we drafted him yesterday, plus a whole lot more. We have the talent, leadership, and coaching staff. We just need them all to come together every game every week.
Just like last season, from here on out all our games are must win. I don’t care what SD does, we have to win every single game the rest of the season. I thought KC and Oak may be for sure wins, but not I’m not so sure. Hope Orton is Ok, if not hopefully Simms gets the rust off fast.
We’re only OK if we win the rest of our games.
Nice post Coop.
I agree with most of the sentiments posted thus far. The Defense concerns me. They had such a great start to the season. How can they breakdown and let the Redskins run all over them like that? The offense was having moderate success running the ball with the lead. Why did we decide to roll out a rusty back up QB and ask him to throw the ball more than 10 yards? Why were the fans the only ones seeing the Redskins were about to run a fake?
Well good win for the Redskins and the Broncos better pick a couple things to fix before the Bolts come to town. What a letdown.
man we had the game if orton woulda stayed in…simms needs to be #3…brandstater needs to be #2 i think.
moreno is showing why he is regarded as pretty good…how many yards did he have anyone know?
we gotta get on track next sunday
I just wish someone, could go tell mcD that the denver fans want to see brandstater!!! thats my wish.
and 83, we were robbed, thats why sometimes, and maybe a lot of u won’t agree with me, but i believe that some games are bought. u know, lay down and lose. why? because of things like the fumble for 1 and so many other things i saw (that i don’t want to type it all up) in this game. i think skins had help by some rich man, that really wanted them to win. now that gentleman is totally unacceptable, fumble recovery and they blow the play dead! wow!
Moreno had 97 yards and no fumble, his best game to date, IMO.
What happened during the bye week to make us go on a 3-game losing streak? We need to get back to playing the kind of football we were during those first six games before our bye week, especially defensively this week they need to step it up more than ever. The D needs to take it to Rivers like they did in SD. If we have to go with Simms against SD, I am hopeful that he will be prepared for them. I think that when the receivers have to catch a ball from a left handed QB when they are used to a right handed QB they have to adjust to the opposite spin on the ball, so I hope they stay after practice to work with Simms on this. Simms did show some flashes of being a capable QB in preseason, remember? SD was the last team we beat, what a prefect way to snap a losing streak it would be by beating them again, this time at home! A total team effort in all phases of the game will be essential to do this. We can’t turn the ball over. We need to establish the run and win the time of possession battle to help make it easier on Simms, and the D needs to force turn overs. If they can do this we will win. There is a lot of work to do but they can do it!
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!
The coaches should know what they are doing. If they felt like Brandstater was the No. 2 QB, he would have been put in the game instead of Simms. Brandstater will get his shot in the future, he is still being groomed. It would not be fair to the team to put in someone that is not ready just because some fans want this. We DON NOT need a QB controversy. If Orton can’t go it’s Simms, if he can’t go then it’s Brandstater, no matter what anyone else thinks.
There was not reason why Buck should’ve fumbled. The annoucers were sayin’ how he wasn’t expecting a hit from behind. That shouldn’t matter he’s a RB and he should be protecting the rock at all times. We need to have a game where we win the turnover margin.
Simms hasn’t played in a real game since he played for TB before he injured his spleen. That’s why possibly Brandstater could work out better. The problem is he doesn’t get the reps in practice which doesn’t put him in sync with his WR. I’m not sure where I stand if Orton can’t play this week. That’s why we need to establish our running game as a threat.
How come that low hit on Orton wasn’t a penaly?
Some of you just kill me. lol Some of you can’t beat the computer on all-madden if you have not played it in 2 weeks. So what do you expect from someone who doesn’t get any reps during the week. Come in cold and has to win the game for us. Unlike the first half, People were all around him. The game was moving to fast. You can be prepared mentally and look like that. Physically he was not ready. He will be ready this week if he has to go. Who ever starts gets all the reps. so if it’s Simms. He’ll be ready. If it’s Orton, he’ll be ready.
The D played 20 of the 30 in the 2nd half. People were tired and not playing their lanes. Tryna do to much to compensate for the fatigue. Look for Woodyard maybe starting opposite D.J. or taking Haggens spot. That is where our issues are.
However, more telling stats: against a team that had allowed 126 yards rushing per game this year, we could only muster 120 yards on the ground, on the other hand a team that only rushed an average of 107 yards per game racked up 174 yards against us. We are clearly being manhandled in the trenches, that’s where the majority of our problems start, mainly with our D line.
But that’s nothing we didn’t know, weren’t 90% of us, including I, calling for help in the D line in the draft?
Ok, just have to chime in. First off, Coop, great post as usuall. I agree with all that you stated. Second, why is everyone so down on Simms. One of the hardest things to do in football is come into a game off the bench to replace the starting QB after also not getting anywhere near the reps that he got durring the week. In a game of rythym and flow, the backup has to keep the O going without having been a part of the flow up to that point. Also, the one thing you do for a backup QB to make that transition easier and more successfull is to run the ball wich we seemed to do very breifly and then promptly abandoned it and had Simms doing more passing than he should have. I put his bad play on the coaches bad play calling. Rarely does a backup QB play as well as the starter and by not running more we not only took away his support but allowed the D to key off on pass only. As for the Defense, I dont know why they seem to melt in the second half. Its odd that they go from being the best at making adjustments at the half to seemingly one of the worst in the space of 3 games. I will say this, if anyone can fix this defense Mike Nolan can. He is still my pick for best offseason sighning of the year.
At least we can stop hearing about how we cant throw long, now we just need to see the off make deliberate and sustained long drives in both halfs to keep the D rested and win some more games.
Oh, and Coop, under the current rules shouldnt the fumble on the sack have been a reveiwable play with the result being a fumble regardless of when the whistle blew. As I saw it there was no proof of foreward momentum being stopped before the ball came loos, as I thought (could be very wrong though) that a review resulting in a fumble can be called such, but can not be advanced if the play was whistled dead at or near the point of fumble. Sorry for the longwindedness of this, but that call really bugged me and seemed to be the point that really took the wind out of the D.
we lost
people are getting on me at school i dont have any thing to said but we lost it really hurt i think we can and will beat the bolt and if we do i be really happy so i hope we beat them
Moreno had a few nice runs yesterday and did pretty well letting the play develop and following his blocks. Good to see Larsen playing some lead fullback, as Moreno broke loose behind him a few times. It was great to see Orton stretch the field with those big plays with Marshall. Just missed Eddie on another pass. Very unfortunate he re-injured his ankle. Our defense is taking it on the chin, as Rice, Mendenhall, and now Betts have had success thru C gap. Linebackers are flowing however opposing RB’s are cutting back against pursuit. (at 2nd level by then, usually positive yardage). The key is the D-line. Peterson hurt yesterday. Look forward to McBean getting back in the rotation sometime soon.
Coop, nice post.
Once again, the game gets out of hand in the second half. This week it was more about Orton getting hurt than anything else. The offense looked pretty good in the first half- 2 long TDs to Marshall. Unfortunantely a couple of missed opportunities- Orton missing Royal when he was wide open down the field (no big deal, that happens) and not getting into the endzone right before half.
Simms was definately rusty (like coop said, he has not played in a couple of years). I was supprised he did not take off and run more. There seemed to be a lot of plays where he had time but could not find anyone open. I thought he should have tucked it and ran.
Once again the special teams seem to be an issue. I agree with everyone, they should have been more prepared for a fake.
The Defense got gashed on the first drive but then seemed to settle down a little. Twards the end of the game they seemed to get wore down again.
Hopefully they can get things turned around. I hate to say it this early in the season but this weekend is a MUST WIN.
Any word on Orton?
we need to win 4 to 5 game to make the playoff i think sd will win the west but we can get a wild card we fight with raven, texan, and jets for the wildcard . sd will win the west just becuz they’ll schedule we have a hard schedule
It comes down to this. The Redskins were hungry for a win, the Broncos weren’t, period. I hope they can come motivated for the Chargers.
If the Broncos can’t get motivatated for the rest of the season there is a serious problem. Every game for the rest of the season is a must win. We will definately see how this team can bounce back. I think they overlooked the Redskins a little..IMO.
Tackling technique is now back to the way it was at the end of last season. Too many guys running up to throw a shoulder into the ball carrier/reciever and not wrapping up. Special teams play is killing us and I think that is on the special teams coach. No way that trick play should ever happend right after a timeout. C’mon Broncos let’s get back to playing with the intensity and smarts you guys played with the first six games. Get back to fundamentals.
I’m tired of everyone saying “we need to do better, we need to coach better, we need to perform better.” Stop talkin’ about it and show us that you can do better. I don’t care if you don’t say anything, just go out there this Sunday and show me that you can do better, show me you can coach better. Show me and the rest of the fans that you want to win, that you want to be successful. I’m tired of this crap about next week this next week that. Just bring it this week. It’s been 3 weeks since you’ve brought on the pain.
Brian, well said.
Looks like everyone got their blog wishes to come true (including self).
Wish Orton would throw the long ball !
Wish our running game would get going !
and lastly,
Wish Orton wasn’t our QB !
I do think we will be okay. Simms got the rust knocked off (a couple of times). It is hard for the backup to come in and adjust to the speed of the game. With a lot of snaps with the first team in practice, hopefully he will get in step.
Hopefully we can get better on the lines. That was our strength in the first six and our weakness in the last three.
Some how I do feel as if it is my fault. I went out and bought a new jersey. I wore it the first six games then my daughter borrowed it and left at school. I didn’t think it was a big deal, I have some older ones that I have put on. Now I will have to get down to business and get the new one back.
My bad everyone. But if you have to blame someone- blame my daughter. LOL
It’s pretty much the “put up or shut up” type of thing. We fans are not as stupid as they think we are. Just feeding us b.s. in press conferences doesn’t fly, do it on the field, that’s what we pay for, period. We expect better, and we demand it.
Our season rests on this next game. (The only game all season I will miss!) If the players/coaches have are care for play in January, then they better make sure everyone and I mean everyone is prepared for Sunday’s game.
This was what I was afraid of. Everybody doubts the Chargers in September. But man, do they get hot in November and December. We are a good team and winning the AFC isn’t out reach. But you gotta want it. You gotta want it bad. And the whole team attitude is dull and boring right now. And I’m not sure they want it bad enough. We gotta wake up and play football, like we know how to play football!
cut mitch berger. terrible
patientbronco-
I know the question was for coop but thought I would take a crack at it.
Once the Ref deems the forward progress is stopped and the whistle is blown, the play is dead and cannot be challenged.
I think it was a horrible call that his forward progress was stopped. He was in the pocket and they had just wrapped him up when the ball went out.
I do not think it was a call that decided the game because if I remember correctly, the Broncos ended up stopping them on a 4th down on that same drive a couple of plays later.
patient bronco – They cant review forward progress and the refs have started using this to avoid replays. Which is bs. Especially here since it clearly wasn’t forward progress and the wistle didn’t blow until he went down.
They already limit coaches to 2 challenges so I think they should be able to review anything with those. Just my opinion.
Hoping the broncos can turn it around as it would be a shame to waste a 6-0 start.
On another note, cant believe we let them get a fake punt after a timeout.
IMO instant replay has helped the game. It helps the refs get missed calls corrected. At the same time though I feel that is is making the refs lazy. They don’t have to make the correct call cuz if they are wrong the coaches will just throw the red flag. Using the “foward progress”, I agree is total BS, if you watch the replay you can hear the wistle blow after the ball is out and Campbell is on the ground. If his forward progess was stopped the refs would’ve blown the wistle already. Not only that but there were holding penalties all over the place on the Redskins and on us too. The refs are getting lazy, they aren’t making the calls they should be.
where is the fight in the defense? there is no ferociousness and hunger like before. the tackling was terrible. but i have faith that McDaniels will right the ship
i love this team…go broncos…
Well that was the first Broncos game I’ve ever gone to (being from DC and all) and I just have to say, god that was ugly. The field goal fake was no excuse, and I don’t know about you guys, but McD has been hyped as an offensive mastermind, but I really didn’t see it or haven’t seen much of it this year. Our offense needs to step up, especially the passing game.
I’m not gonna blame our defense for our loss, yes there were holes in the line like no other, and thats something we gotta fix. But god when the offense goes 3 and out every other drive and we have a terrible punter ruining our field position, that puts our d in a serious hole. I mean god what happened to brett kern? he was perfectly fine, but we bring in a steelers punter just cuz he knows what it takes to win a super bowl.
I’m not hating the broncos, just questioning a lot of things, even tho i still love the broncos to death
I never thought i would say this but if Orton didnt get injured i think we win this game. Personally i think people should get off Chris Simms back. back up quarterback is a hard position have, they dont get any of the practice snaps and arent prepared for the team.
I still belive that Chris Simms is the better QB of the two, looking at all the tools, and people shouldnt crucify him over what he did in 1/2 a game. Remember what everyone said about Orton after the first preseason game?
no matter who we have at QB on sunday we have to win this game. I think we will come out on top. Hopefully our D will remember that the game is 60 “Football” Minutes.
I say our charger predictions for this week should all predict us losing…maybe that will make us win….stupid but we need all the help that we an get right now lol
oldsouthstander,
wow, now thats looking from the outside-in..good realistic grading..
broncos504,
hei dont worry my fellow fan, you’re not the only one in hear getting it in the face…lol…true we lost to that suspect team…i’ve been getting it all day from my friends at school. i join in on the laughs (faking it) and they lose interests and just bug off for the rest of the day…lol…
wow, simms was thrown into a fire..things were close and he went in..he better loosen up well next game..
I dont care what anybody says…Next Week is a Playoff Game. If we lose we are hoping for a wildcard. 10-6 will get us to the playoffs…but to win the division we must win this game…beat the chiefs twice, and the raiders at home.
Hey Coop, great post.
mad_orange_devil_27 – that was my whole take before we played this game… if our boys really wanted to win, they would’ve found a way. I can’t say much about the game since I missed the whole thing but from what I know sounds like they let some unexpected moves get to them (the main one being Orton getting injured so Simms had to come in). I think they let that take control instead of our team controlling the game. Simms was unprepared to go into the game so they all let it bother them. Good reason to be concerned but not in the middle of a game. They let themselves get distracted. Point being, with a change like that or the Skins taking the lead… if they wanted to win, they would’ve put all the changes they had to make during the game and set ‘em aside they could’ve and should’ve won that game.
I have another case of the Monday blues cause I just can’t figure out why they let a 2-6 team take the win. They had this game and the D let it get out of hand. Still a TEAM loss but alot of this rests with the defense. They just didn’t come out to do what they were supposed to leaving me disappointed in them. This game was sitting in the palm of their hands and they let it go.
Well, I said plenty yesterday and today about a game I didn’t get to watch so now its time to focus on the Chargerettes. They are going to be hungry coming into this game and for several reasons. 1) They want to be atop the West – we cannot let that happen. 2) We beat them (and good) on MNF at THEIR house so they will be looking for some revenge in this game. They are coming to the Mile High City and based on our last 3 games they will be expecting us to hand them the win. Uh-uh… not again. I won’t stand for it. If we hand them anything, it should be one surprise move after another to catch them all off guard. We’ve become too predictable, 3 games of that is more than enough. Time to put it to an end. We’re no longer a threat, no longer a dangerous team… time for a change. This rests on McD’s shoulders. He’s the coach, he’s the leader…. DO SOMETHING!! They are better than what they’ve shown the past 3 games. If there’s a certain game in which they should unleash their frustration… the SD game is it.
East Coast teams are never easy (apparently even when they’re 2-6) but this is a division rival. We play these guys twice a year… we should be able to read them like a book. You wanna know why we can’t… they aren’t that predictable. We are. That’s where we need to come out in full attack mode and just surprise them. They expect to read us like a book… don’t let them have that advantage over us. If we do, it will be a very long and tough game for us. Make them panic. This game will say alot about us.
After watching the Pats-Indy game… WOW… we have some MAJOR work to do. Whew, Manning is one dangerous QB. They were down by 17 and then came back to give the Pats the shock of their lives. Sound familiar? No matter how big or small our lead is, our defense had better get their act together cause by the time Dec. 13 rolls around if they aren’t prepared, saying that game will be ugly is an understatement. I’m very worried about the Colts game. First we play at their house, against a VERY dangerous team. They need to put all their focus on the upcoming game but we only have 3 games left before that one and that isn’t much time to prepare for a team like the Colts. We have 3 games to get our act together, so they better make the most of it.
Only our team can control their fate… they need to show by how they play that they want to be a great football team. Not good, but great. I don’t know where my Broncos team went but hopefully they’ll show up in full force on Sunday. There’s my novel for the day. lol
Keep the faith Bronco Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!
Nice blog as always Coop.
This game was a huge let down.
What happened to our aggressive D??????? Or should I say what happened to our aggressive D in the second half of the last 3 games?? They looked gassed- I know thats largely due to the porous Offense.
At least we saw that we can get the running game going and the deep passing game. If our D doesn’t revive to playing like they were in the first half this could be ugly.
That game was scary!! I had flash backs to last year-poor tackling and missing gaps-the line get man handled in the trenches. Uh-Oh.
I still have all the faith in this team, but I’m not sure the players do
there is one easy reason for the defensive struggles in the second half. look at the last 3 games. its not the defense, its the offense. In the past 3 games, TOP is terrible for us and the offense is getting nowhere. They are giving up short fields and are making costly mistakes. When we were on the winning streak, the offense always controlled TOP especially in the secong half. A Defense cant stay on the field for 40 mins and be expected to stay fresh and strong. the offense needs more consistency and we will be just fine.
