Tim-tastic

October 24th, 2011 - 8:38am by mark_cooper

5:23 left and Tebow engineers a comeback. I get that. Prater misses two earlier field goals which is not very typical of this kicker and here we are. Tim-tastic….or Cardiac Kid?? You pick. I’ll take it either way.

Wow, what a way to start. Earlier in the game I know what many of you were thinking. He’s trying too hard, he has a lot of pressure on him, it’s his first start. Right? Had to. I was showing homes all day to clients yesterday and YES, they are Broncos fans so in between homes we have the game on and are listening in. The comments above are what my clients said and you had to agree. We even stopped for a quick bite between houses at 7:00 minutes remaining and the guy behind the counter asks us if we were listening to the game and what was the score and how was the game going and it wasn’t pretty….was it.

Third down efficiency and the sacks we gave up have to change as we move forward. I’m patient…are you?? New baby steps have to be established and with “some time” we’ll know how this team plays with our new QB.

Worrisome was McGahee’s hand after the game. Our running game will assist Tebow. I think we’ll see a bunch of folks start lining up in the box to stop the run and saying beat us with the pass.

Can’t wait to hear your take. Many of you have been calling for a change, so what do you think overall.

Coop
GO BRONCOS!!

I to think teams will stack the box and make Tebow throw……But I also think we should start running the “no huddle” more or even every offensive possession. We had both o our touchdown drives (which were mostly passing plays I might add) with the “no huddle.” It keeps defenses on there toes and tired.I think we should do that and we’ll be MUCH more successful moving the ball.GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!

Nothing beats experience,he will get better!!!

  3. O&BinCostaRica says:

The number 1 thing is the receivers need to step it up and a clear #1 must arise to open up the back end of these defenses. Our guys weren’t able to find the holes yesterday or get separation. Without open receivers it is tough to have an adequate passing game.

    GO Broncos!

  4. baylinorcrush says:

He better or here comes Orton, LOL.

  5. collies10 says:

Bay your right in what you say. Lloyd has had an adverse effect more so than his ability alone. Decker, thomas and royal were having serious difficulty getting open.

If they cant get open and Tebow does not improve his accuracy the line will be stacked against the run. This at the same time when McGahee might miss some time.

Still Detroit is coming and I find myself still optimistic.

  6. MemoMexDF says:

Will defeat the Lions, wait and see.

  7. baylinorcrush says:

This is for the Tebow/Gator fan here who says he knows the Broncos so well that he stated no one in the Bronco history ever came back down from 0-15 in the fourth quarter, NEVER, his words…

Oh well what does that Gator/Tebow fans really know about the Broncos?

    Not much.

In Elway’s rookie year on December 11th 1983, he entered the fourth quarter against the Baltimote Colts down 0-19 and proceeded to throw three 4th quarter TDs, the last one a 26 yd pass to Gerald Wilhite with 0.44 seconds left to win the game 21-19.

Just sayin, people who come on here bashing anything not Tebow about the Broncos has gotr some real issues and whatever they say shall be immediately dismissed, at least by mwe,

I finish a long post on the old blog right when a new one opens up, of course. Here it was…

I knew the blogs would be drenched in hysterics following this game. Haha.

It was definitely a team win. Major props to the defense, special teams and TT. I’d like to address one thing specifically: Passion.

Tim Tebow doesn’t throw properly most of the time. He doesn’t have the best reads. He holds on to the ball longer than he should. But he brings a passion to the field that acts like an infectious disease that the entire team contracts. ENTIRE team – offense, defense, special teams. If you watch your team play every week with your heart moreso than your brain like I do, it’s crystal clear to you; the Denver Broncos play hard when Tim Tebow is under center.

I always try to see things from every angle involved. In this case, one side says our team played horrible for the first three quarters. But the other side of it is that this game was in fact the first time that this particular offensive unit had played together in a non-practice situation. And TT starting is not the only difference; D. Thomas and E. Royal were back after injuries, and if I’m not mistaken, we had a new fullback this week as well. My point is that I think there’s truth in both sides of the argument – if you want to call it that.

You could say a lot of things went our way in this game. For example, the Miami player that dropped the onside kick recovery. And I’ll give you that. However, since our team plays on an entirely different level with TT at the helm, the special teams players that were on the field for that play were playing their hearts out and were able to pounce on the ball as soon as it was loose. Call this a stretch, call it wishful thinking, if you will – I just see a boosted effort by this team on all fronts when 15 takes the field, so that’s what I’m attributing this TEAM win to – its newfound leader.

I have a lot of respect for bay…he seems to be the big cheese ’round these parts, and for good reason. I for one, however, hope he’s dead wrong about TT not being a Bronco at some point. I want this kid to lead my team and I would hate to see him play anywhere else. I have to believe his passing mechanics will get better. I don’t know why they wouldn’t because Tim works as hard as he can on everything that he can. I also think it will take awhile for the coaches to figure out how to call plays that work best for him. The thing is, though, right now they’re probably just seeing if TT will even work out, and that will probably take the rest of the season for them to decide.

Ok, that was the most serious post I’ve had…it took a LOT of discipline to not crack any jokes that entire time. I must have Tim Tebow-like work ethic!

  9. Broncfalls says:

That’s was the most god awful exciting football game I have seen in a LONG time! LOL!

Coop, yes I’m patient! However, I think with this game under his belt, I believe we’ll see a confidence level spike! It’s needed, cuz Tim has to be comfortable throwing the ball. No matter if it’s on the run or in the pocket he HAS to trust himself.

I dissagree a little bit about the WR’s. They’re were many times they were open. In the flats or down field, Tim just missed the throw. Decker? Moreno? They all had good break outs where Tim just missed the throw. I still think with more reps at Dove Valley and continued work, it’ll get better!

The theme of the day was the obvious “never quit” and that’s what I saw! Also, D.J.’s play was amazing! That “never quit” attitude was evident on that particular play. He busted in, shed a block and even jumped over a guy to keep coming at Moore and make the play that created the fumble! Awesome effort D.J.

    Now, on to Detroit!

    CONGRATULATIONS BRONCOS! YOU EARNED IT!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

interesting comments from the blogosphere. first issue I have is this thought that complaints about the play calling started with tt at qb. sorry but I have not read anyone defend it untill yesterday and that is with 5 games ko starting.

now its about damn time our d is getting some praise. I hope that continues. but again it is only n because some people hate tebow that much.

tebow actually played exactly like I thought he would, horrible untill the game got to the point where it only required instinct, no analyzing. he came in under too much pressure. which is sad taking over a1 and 4 team.

I will make an honest statement. I want tebow traded. I would hate to see him brake under the pressure of playing qb in denver. with fox as hc and a rookie vp of ops in elway, its a no win situation for him or the team. get tebow to a team that actually knows how to develop him because we don’t. we do not have the coaching or personel department to create anything but failed systems that the game has left behind.

we saw it with orton, the play calling is so predictable I want to vomit. it doesn’t matter who is under center, our game planning is about the worst out there. sure every now and then the right play is dialed up, but so little barring something spectacular, it fails.

for being full time football minds, they are lacking. maybe they need some ot.

I will enjoy watching a few more games with tebow in a denver jersey but I will wait to see who replaces him. it is going to take a miracle for me to believe in this 3 year efx plan. we are still right on path to be the next jacksonville jaguars.

  11. baylinorcrush says:

Sorry posted before I could finish so I did not proof read, but the message came loud and clear.

Some of the discussions on here last night were just simply absurd, total trash in many instances, with all due respect to Bronco fans everywhere, the Tebow only fans are starting to give us a bad name, saw that coming a long time ago and the picture gets clearer as we go, they are not Bronco fans they are Tebow followers and aren’t worthy of our team is all I’m saying.

  12. seweatherman1 says:

That’s kind of why I posted what I posted at the end of the last blog bay. That crap last night I read on here was disgusting to say the least. By the way, in case you didn’t see it, thanks for correcting me on that one stat. I, once again, repeated what I had heard without checking it out first. Some day I will learn.

  13. Atwater4HOF says:

I’ll be interested to hear about McGahee and if he will be able to play with a splint or soft cast.

  14. killerkod says:

Whoooo Hoooo!! I’m on the board in the scoring predictions!!!!

Let’s not get too excited here………

It was 55 minutes of UGLY capped with 5 insane and exciting broncos football. If Tebow fanatics think he can orchestrate that type of thing game in and game out, then they’re just kidding themselves.

He needs to play better throughout the WHOLE game……..and not be in that position late.

I understand he’s still raw and doesn’t have a lot of experience in this offense……..and he knows he needs to be MUCH MUCH better than what he showed yesterday. I know he’ll work harder than ever……and I’ll be interested to see how he progresses from game to game.

But like I said on an earlier post……….the team seemed to rally around him and it looks like they’ve built some trust and confidence that he can get the job done, as ugly as it may be at times. And that will go a long ways throughout the rest of the season.

I think we can score points on Detroit……….just wondering if we can stop them from scoring. Our D is looking much better so that’s a great sign.

  15. seweatherman1 says:

Good write Coop. I feel that time will tell, but, it was painfully obvious that the play calling was way too conservative. I am beginning to wonder if McCoy even has anything designed for TT and this offense or if he is still working out of the same hum-drum they used with Orton.

By the way, the new “game blog” format sucks. Need to go back to the way it was being done.

  16. CarnageBronc says:

But Bay, I had been saying we had a lot of Tebow only fans for a while…i think FLgatorBronco is clearly one…could be wrong though…but I said this thing puts our team in a sticky sitiuation which may take us a decade or more to recover from. Win or lose.

  17. killerkod says:

    I always say Tebow fanatics………

I’m a fan, not a fanatic……..there seems to be a lot of fanatics on here lately.

  18. CarnageBronc says:

It is funny Bay you are probably the most loved on this site and I the most hated. We can say the EXACT same things and people take it differently. I appreciate your take on things, most of the time (lol) but I have to applaud your candor and willingness to stick by your guns. admirable. What amazes me, is that when Lloyd got traded, folks were on the blog saying TIM DOESN’T NEED HIM…our receivers are better than EIGHTY PERCENT OF THE LEAGUE…then today, it is the receivers fault they wouldn’t get open for Tim. I said the SAME THING when Orton was qb and I was shunned. I realize that even for fans, it all comes down to perspective.

  19. baylinorcrush says:

I think the picture is someheow taking shape in my strange mind:

Wasn’t it the weirdest thing to see Elway at Stanford on that late Saturday night game against CU when the Broncos had a game in Denver like a few hours later.

Wasn’t it like the weirdest thing to see Urban Meyer on national TV in Miami during the pregame warm-ups giving pointers to Tebow, and not just casually, actually coaching the man.

I mean someting is up, not sure what, but the coincidences are weird.

I know Standford is Elway’s alma matter and Meyer coached the Gator team that was honored in Miami but it doesn’t take a genius to think that the Dolphins’ owner would love to have Meyer replace Sparano, that Meyer would love to do it with Tebow at the helm and that Elway would love nothing better than having Luck at his helm, even so he got pretty blindsided by that comeback win yesterday making it more of a fairy tale for it to happen now that 3 teams are 0-6 and we are 2-4.

But anyhow, all those things constantly go through my head, just attempting to get a clearer picture for my visionary thoughts is all.

    Weird stuff indeed….

  20. 3rdGeneration says:

Bay, I got DirectTV this week for two reasons. The first was because I couldn’t stand the public humiliation of being at a sports bar every week the Broncos are not on TV (as you mentioned last night). The second is because I had a baby so I can’t go to the bar every Sunday anymore. The football package is free this year, FYI.
I’d like to hear more about your deduction that Tebow is not a long term Bronco. He had a terrible game, but we won and it was his 4th start. How do you come to that conclusion?

  21. seweatherman1 says:

I bet Meyer and the fins owner didn’t discuss the weather the entire game yesterday standing there on the sidelines.

  22. 3rdGeneration says:

Bay is whipping up a conspiracy theory.

  23. baylinorcrush says:

The reason I can stick to my guns is probably that I think it through before I speak, LOL, at least most of the time, and don’t be fooled, if you were on more often Carnage, you would know that a handful of bloggers absolutely despise me, a lot worse than they ever disliked you, but that comes with the territory, I’m here all the time and I’m bound to drive some bloggers crazy, their problem though.

  24. killerkod says:

bay…………I’ll hop in the DeLorean and let you know! haha

  25. 3rdGeneration says:

Its still very early to tell who will get the coveted #1 pick, but if St. Louis or Indy get it we have a shot at trading. If Miami gets it we could be in trouble unless Bays conspiracy theory has some truth.

  26. baylinorcrush says:

Well, my record shows that when I smell something at least like 75% of the time I’m onto something, my wife always tells me I’m a bloodhound, can smell stuff no one else can, size of my nose I guess, haha, not saying it will happen that we ship Tebow out, but if I was forced to lay my money on it in Vegas it would definitely be Tebow playing somewhere else next year.

  27. 3rdGeneration says:

I’m surprised that STL is as bad as they are. I thought they were on the up swing. Hurricane Josh usually does put up offensive numbers.

  28. killerkod says:

I also heard the announcers say that Elway professed that they are in a 3-4 year rebuilding phase? That would prob include a new QB next season.

  29. baylinorcrush says:

    Moral of the story:

Tebow disciples and followers everywhere, enjoy your short stint as Bronco fans and may you love the next team Tebow plays for, LMAO!

  30. 3rdGeneration says:

I wish we didn’t have to play the Lions after a two game losing streak…..but I’m convinced Champ can shut anyone down and Calvin is their primary weapon. Their running game hasn’t been that good as of late. If Champ can shut down Megatron and we keep their run game in check we have a legit shot at winning next week…..barring we score a point.

  31. killerkod says:

    disciples……….LMAO!

    love it!

  32. 3rdGeneration says:

My wife (who literally knows nothing about football, for example, I was explaining her how the “downs” work yesterday) was watching the game with me and was like, the guy throwing the ball looks very uncompfortable and indesicive (she knows nothing about the Tebow saga or QQ other then that Tebow is “cute.”

The stage is set and while we know how the team stacks up so far, let’s take a look at how the new Bronco fan generation stacks up in this; the Tebow era II beginning.

We pretty much got a divided fan base that goes something like this:

    1. The Tebow disciples

They are at Tebow’s table waiting for the feast to be served.

    2. The Tebow followers

They are at the table hoping a feast will be served.

    3. The Tebow neutrals

They don’t care to be at the table as long as the Broncos eat some fish today.

    4. The Tebow naysayers

They say why would we sit at the table for crummy crumbs.

    5. The Tebow haters

They rather starve to death than sitting at that table.

  34. seweatherman1 says:

If things happen the way I think they are going to happen, his next uniform just may be a Miami uniform.

  35. mcmcnees says:

ANYONE ELSE STOKED THAT BAY BAY DIDN’T GET INJURED???? :)

  36. mcmcnees says:

Thought I would throw that in…

  37. killerkod says:

    lol bay……….thanks for that chuckle!

I guess I’m a neutral then………..which is nice cause I can still think objectively about things.

  38. royalbroncofan1 says:

LOL – seweatherman1 re: Myer talking with ‘fins owner re: weather!!

  39. monodono says:

    COOP!
This game went exactly the way I thought it would except the poor passing in the first three quarters. Tim was either over, under, or just threw some sick ducks out there. When He wasn’t throwing ugly passes He couldn’t pull the trigger and couldnt make the right reads. We can chalk this one up as a bad game for Tim, or maybe just maybe Miami played better D(I doubt it). Tim will get better and we all know the TEAM believes in Him and will fight harder for Him. This TEAM will gel and soon. Will they beat detriot, meh? I don’t know, but I really can’t wait till Sunday to find out.
I saw a lot of good things and some bad, unfortunatly some fans cant see past thier TBoner to be objective and will probably call me a hater. They have to make up excuses as to why it was such bad play for most of the game. I for one felt the recievers were open most of the time and the play calling was very balanced 41 pass play’s called and 32 run play’s called. Not bad if you ask me. I also felt the OLine did a Great job moving forward with 186yrd rushing but the 7 sacks are alarming even though thats a by product of the QB holding onto the ball and just not having alot of time playing together. The OLine will get use to this and Tims left hand, it will just take some time.
I hope Knowshon can step it up next week The TEAM will need Him. Get well soon Willis.
This TEAM finally pulled it together in the end with some good passes, and some great catches (Daniel Fells, Demaryius Thomas, Matt Willis). Special TEAMs played well late and The D was Awesome!
Bottom Line it’s a Win and a good TEAM Win at that!

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !

  40. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah and weatherman knows about weather!

  41. killerkod says:

that’s the way it is on the blogs……….

some are extreme one way or the other, and some of us are trying to be objective about the games and the play.

Wins are great, but until we shut a team out completely and blow them out of the water, there should be some sort of critique on the play………….there’s always places to improve upon.

  42. 3rdGeneration says:

Remember all the crap Rogers got his first year for holding onto the. All too long? Now look where he’s at.

  43. 3rdGeneration says:

    *to the ball

  44. BroncosLAX says:

Bay you said everything I wanted to say before but didn’t know how to… If you read what FLGatir was posting yesterday (I think thats what your comment was aimed at) It just pointed to how some people are thinking completely ubsurdly and who are a fan of the player and not the Team. I want Tebow to suceed because he is a great kid and is our starter… but if he tanks I want Andrew Luck. You know a fan is mental when they say McD was a good coach lmao I could not get over that

  45. killerkod says:

I think you should get banned from the blog for even mentioning the name McD! He’s the reason we’re in such a freaking mess right now……..

Hope I don”t get banned for mentioning his name! hahaha

  46. strandoftds says:

There was another amazing come from behind game by John Elway that the announcers forgot to mention that reminds me of this game. We were playing the K.C. Chiefs in our own backyard. It was during the Wade Phillips era. We stunk up the game for 55 minutes and John Elway threw 2 TD`s in the last waning minutes. A real miracle game. Elway struggled the whole game then two TD`s in a very short amount of time. It was incredible. Yesterdays game was pretty close to that game in the day of John Elway.

  47. Carsonic says:

mcmcnees, I had exactly the same reaction!

  48. buck484 says:

I can’t remember Elway ever having that bad of a throwing day. Even when Tebow connected it sure wasn’t pretty. That said,if we are honest, really bad game but a win. In that I salute Tim and our amazing D. Champ once again shows why he is the best.

  49. strandoftds says:

I was watching the Washington vs Stanford game to check out Andrew Luck again. Simply amazing to watch. One announcer mentioned that, Just because the worst NFL team picks Andrew Luck doesn`t mean that they will keep him as there future QB. It was said that Andrews Father and he just might pull a John Elway (Baltimore Colts) and a Eli Manning/Archy Manning) S.D. scenerio just might be in the makings. I smell a Stanford Alma Mater (John Elway) wanting to bring in a future Alma Mater (Andrew Luck) and whispering in his ear and vise versa. Just saying.

  50. bronco4L says:

we should all be in the same page and know that it was a team win. I like tebow but everyone did there part, now it’s just about getting better as a team. We can still have an okay season but only time will tell.
