The fundraiser was for Dani’s Foundation that raises money for pediatric sarcomas, which is a rare form of cancer that strikes children and young adults.
It was a comical roasting of one of the greatest men in Broncos history, Steve Antonopulos. The Greek. The hosts were Ron Zappolo and Dave Logan. The evening started out with the Mayor cracking on “The Greek”, then Vic Lombardi, Rich Karlis, Billy Thompson, me, Keith Burns, Claudie Minor and Gary Zimmerman taking shots at him, along with many others in the crowd, as Roasts are suppose to be. Zappolo and Logan chimed in occasionally between speakers too, taking shots back at some of us that fingered them out a few times.
The event, like all Roasts, ended with “The Greek” getting the last shots/cracks in at all of us individually and then on many of the alumni in the crowd. He was hilarious cracking back on everyone.
It was a wonderful evening for a wonderful cause for a man I love. Steve kept me and many of my teammates, current and past players on the field and in the league, probably longer than some of us could have without him. He is loved dearly.
The side note that has been written about is how Jay wasn’t there. No one actually expected him there with the media circus that’s been going on that’s hopefully cleared up tomorrow so we can get back to the main agenda in Broncotown… winning football games, period. He made a donation to the cause, and I respect that. Thanks Jay, that was the right thing to do.
Like I said before, people make mistakes… you – me – the President – all of us. I can agree to disagree with anyone and still get along… that’s what we do for the betterment of the TEAM.
Some folks have asked if I cracked on Jay. You bet, just like I cracked on “The Greek” and about 10-15 others……. because that’s what you do at a Roast.

Are Josh McDaniels, Brian Xanders and Pat Bowlen the only people in the country who dont see how talented Jay Cutler is. I have never seen such dumb move in any profession.
The rhetoric about how Tom Brady isnt above the team in NE is irrelevant. Jay Cutler doesnt think he is above the team he just wants to be respected by the organization. Do you think NE has ever thought of trading Brady.
If Jay Cutler is traded, Josh McDaniels and Xanders should be roughed up big time. The fans should boycot the organization. You dont trade a top 5 qb for anything or everything. Give Cutler a new deal and make him happy.
With socialism on the rise again, I say the Broncos fans unite and boycot the team until they resolve this issue. We the fans have to hold them accountable for their mistakes. Why is the “theres no I in team” always thrown at players. It has to apply to coaches as well they are no different, a team is a relationship of the players and coaches. What are coaches with out players….. nothing. what are players without coaches nothing. Just like a player doesnt have the right to stand and say “look at what i did all by myself” neither can a coach, the schemes and plays he creates are not fail proof, plays wont work just because its drawn up greatly. Basically what im saying is this is a two way street and no one should be too fast to point a fingure at one party.

Truth is I don’t see anybody who really stands out, I don’t see that guy who every team we face will command a double team on every down. That is crucial in a 3-4 Defense.

The TRUTH is any QB in the league has the talent and ability to win the SB. You simply don’t understand the reality of the NFL if you think otherwise. It’s the ultimate team game, and defense has everything to do with it. Just go look at Petyon Manning or John Elway’s record when their defenses gave up 30 or more points. It ain’t pretty.

Just one last thought about the Cutler crisis then I hope to never speak of it again. McDaniels is here to bring this team back to the Superbowl according to conversations from Mr. Bowlen and McDaniels, ok fine that is the one thing everyone can agree with. One thing we are forgeting if he is here to coach this team back to the playoffs, am I to understand that he can’t do it with Cutler as his Qb. If you were the best coach available then you best be able to make this team into a contender every year. I don’t want to hear that you needed that one player to make it happen, you are the coach, get it done or don’t let the door hit you in your backside on the way out. Mr. Bowlen needs to take Jay and Josh aside and make a simple point, you both get along or you both can find employment somewhere else. Support and praise in public oand censure them in private.

He played Offense and Defense in high school and I think He is a step ahead of all the other DE’s in the draft except Brian Orakpo who will go early. The way i see it, cutler is still our quarterback and until that changes i will support him and the denver broncos. but if we have to rely on simms next year the nuggets will be my new favorite team.

Anyways If there is any one who has a way to get the attention of Bolen or Cutler, please convince them to keep this relationship alone. We want Cutler!!! Sure, the Broncos would go on without him, but the fans want him. The only way he stays is if Cutler stays and McD gets to take partial credit for a good season. I read some of Bowlens comments that were posted on nfl.com and I see that he wasn’t toatally backing McDaniels. He just isn’t going to publically call out his new coach. I am sure the owner of the broncos has to see Cutlers overall value in staying in Denver. There is a lot more money in Denver the next 10 years with Cutler than without him.

I just read Pat Bowlan’s comments on NFL.com about the Cutler situation. Maybe he should just sell the team if he is incapable of running it anymore. He would rather destroy the franchise than admit he may have made a mistake when he hired McDaniels or that McDaniels screwed up. He doesn’t know if he had a conversation with Cutler about the offense remaining in tact when he fired Shanny? This is the man in charge? I am glad he came out and said something, but the waters are just as muddy. He supported mcdaniels and that is the right thing to do. He should publicly support his coach in order to maintain what little stability remains within the organization. However, I do hope he took him into the office and said, “boy, you better know what you are doing.”
Some of the comments online have said that mcdaniels is implementing NE style of player interaction. All I can say is that we do not need bilicheck’s man in Denver, but someone who is going to be his own man and maintain the class act the Broncos have been for years. I hope this works out for the best.
All this nonsense starting before the season and all everyone wants to talk about. I read this blog and hear the frustation of us fans because Cutler is being traded. I think that no matter what happens with Cutler and where he goes, if the coach is truly as good as he thinks he is and god bless amercia does he think he is something great, then next year should be exaclty what all us bronco fans want(winning season). IMO I believe and have always believed that the broncos will prevail even when here in Texas I have to hear about the freaking cowboys everday, and how the broncos will never win another super bowl now that Elway is gone, and reminding them that Mr. E Smith is gone so??? But seriously changes must be made and if the change is that Cutler puts himself before his teammates then good riddens. I like His size and speed and He has great tackling ability, but He is still a little young and I’m not sure how that will translate into The NFL.

Someone w/that kind of size+speed should be mak’n plays (unless the scheme messed him up) all over the field like Polumalu. I like Patrick Chung for our 2nd rd pick (I”m a monster Colt Anderson fan, but I’m sure we can get him either rd 6-7 or FA). He’s a proven player for 4 years @ Oregon. Great hitter+leader. Maybe McDaniels thinks that if we beef up the defense enough we can win with only an average caliber QB? Although we have some great deep threats at WR, I’m just worried that if we don’t have Culter’s strong arm we may be missing out on some big plays. I guess even the good QBs are expendable.

2. Pull your QB & Mac in for a 3 way sit down

At this point, I am thinking that Jay Cutler will not be in Denver next year. He is still under contract and has decided to turn his back on his teammates. So his beef is with the coach, he was not traded and if not traded he has to play or loose out on millions. Why in the world would you turn your back on your teammates. At first I was upset with McDaniels, however, I am growing less fond of Cutler for his antics. I believe he is the one who can put an end to this fued. Jay, be a man!!! Show up, play your game and get a new deal. Remember, in this league you must produce championships and play off wins. You have not done either. You are hurting your teammates and the fans who adore you. Be angry with the coach, but channel that anger effectively and show everyone that your the best qb for the job.
