Great Game!!! Love beating the Giants!!! I still have a grudge that dates back to SB XXI.
Nice to see the team back in form. Yea, it took a few weeks but the “D” is back and RUNNING GAME was on track. Funny how we all talked about getting the running game on track the last few weeks and how it would help the offense.
Yea, yea, some will be saying we got to the red zone a few times and came away with three but it was enough this week. Like you, or many of you, I say, run the ball all way in. We’d get down close to the end zone and go to a four-wide set and I think that is a disadvantage … takes away the draw play and the defense knows Kyle’s not going to run a QB draw with his injury so the defensive lineman pin their ears back and only have ONE thing to worry about (the pass rush) and/or we see a blitz with it. I know I sound like a EX offensive lineman, (I’m allowed) when I say run it but I have to say, “when it ain’t broke (between the 30s) don’t try to fix it.” The linemen get in a groove and rhythm.
The dictionary says rhythm is a “regular recurrence of elements in a system of motion.” The offensive lineman’s definition is, “we smash em in the mouth, then slice and dice em while we pound them into the end zone.” I think I’ll call Webster’s Dictionary and see if they will add my version?? What do ya think?
)
Here’s what happens in a Mile High stadium. You pound those big defensive lineman and you chop and cut them to the ground everytime you can. They have to get up and chase the play and by the 3rd-4th quarter, they are tired … and that’s a distinct advantage at a Mile High. Bootlegs help make them run around and scramble plays too. Make those big bodies run, like they’re not use to. “Advantage Broncos.”
I was fortunately at the game this week and I have to tell you I really enjoyed watching the Giants fans all decked out in their jerseys, faces painted. Some had old helmets and new helmets without facemasks and stayed sitting in their seats (quietly) while the Broncos fans had the night of their lives cheering and jeering.
I was in the Budweiser Club box, which I love because I get to watch the game from the front and behind and see the running lanes and plays develop and see the gaps and the cutback lanes. Most folks say they like watching the game from the sides but you have to remember that’s the angle we use to watch film at as an offensive line, so, to me, it’s natural. We’d watch film from behind the offense and the DB’s were rarely in the picture as we watched everyone in the box to include linebackers and a strong safety for the most part.
So let’s see if the bandwagon fills up again this week as some of you got down on Moreno, Orton and Coach McDaniels over the last few weeks? Hey, don’t break an ankle jumping back on, we don’t want anyone to get hurt out there. I can see the moonwalking now!!
And Marshall … all I have to say is WOW!! What an athlete. He’s worth the price of admission himself when he plays like that. How many kids do you think will be out on the play grounds imitating those two catches he had??? I bet for weeks. I remember doing “exactly that” after watching games as a kid.
Hey, sidenote. I went to see Blind Side last night. GREAT MOVIE, brought back a lot of memories of those days as a high school kid being pursued to go to college. Wonderful story. I read the book a few years ago and it’s worth the read too!! You all will enjoy either the way you know your football.
Can’t wait to hear your feedback!!

DOOM & DJ – I BET YOU A BAG OF CHEDDAR AND PRETZEL GOLD FISH CASSEL CALLED YOU CHUMPS!
DAWKINS – PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE OLD
CHAMP – DARE THEM TO THROW AT YOU
OLINE – DO YOUR THING, LET KYLE PICK EM’ APART
MARSHALL – FOR PRESIDENT
MORENO – FOR VICE PRESIDENT
DAWKINS – FOR SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
MOVE THIS COUNTRY TO DEFCON 4 AND LET’S GET AFTER IT!!!!!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Broncfalls: I am from Newfoundland, Canada currently living in the great white north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada.
Why am I a Broncos fan? Well, back in 1987, a friend of mine who liked football, something I never really watched much of being from a small town in Newfoundland, was watching the AFC Championship game……and I watched this QB march his team down the field to tie the game….You all know I’m talking about Elway and the drive! Since that day I’ve been a hardcore broncos fan!
hey Coop: great article and I agree with you we need to get our lineman going forward near the goaline and punch the ball into the endzone. I also like how Mareno has been running of late in the zone blocking scheme. Marshall has been awesome and that shouldn’t change this week. I know all about KC’s record against us in december games there 16-1, but that won’t make a bit of difference if we show up and play Broncos football. Its time to send Dr Jeckyl on vacation and let Mr Hyde show up to work on sundays.
Go Broncos…………………….

@ broncfalls….. i live in Wray CO… almost to the NE border!
@ COOP…. still waitin on that explanation of the zone blocking scheme, and wheather or not we are using it! if someone else has the answer id love to know!
Go Broncos
“DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS”
@Broncfalls: Brookings, SD.
Alright what a great win we needed it, here is what I believe it comes down to our defense may have been a little down before the Giants game but they were still good, I truly believe Nolan was getting way to conservative with his using his zone defenses and thats why the Chargers games was way different than the first. Last week we played like we did the first 6 games balls to the walls blitzing, that is how we will win if Nolan stays true to it!!!!
Rosholt/New Effington/Sisseton, South Dakota!
What are the chances that Mcd would bring CHARLIE WEIS in be offensive cord? i think we need him… what do u guys thinks?
i dont see that happening. i think McD likes to for the most part be in charge of the offense!
Haha Broncfalls – as if I haven’t made it clear enough, I (sadly enough) live near that “CEPTIC TANK OF A STADIUM” they call Arrowhead… but once I’m done with school here in KC I’m moving back to Denver ASAP!! My hometown needs me! lol
If we play against KC like we did against the Giants, the Chiefs will be fighting for their lives. Our defense is hungry and anxious to put some pain on them and I can tell, Orton is hungry for another win. This kid has so much fire & passion for the game, it’s almost ridiculous! Still worried about our ST but if our offense can execute and get far ahead early on & if our D can “hassle the Cassel” (ahaha, that rhymes) we’ll be in good shape.
We should be able to win at least 4 of our next 5 games, but I’ll even go so far as to say we are capable of ending Indy’s winning streak. Go ahead, call me absolutely crazy but when this team is hungry, they are HUNGRY!! They are a great football team when they want to be, I just wish they would be that way every week. They did it 6 games in a row, no reason why they can’t become that way again. And in fact, this is the time & month for them to come out strong in the last 5 games and finish strong. Indy only gets better with each week and that will be one brutal game depending on how our boys decide to play & attack but that game is winnable if they so choose to take it.
One game at a time though. First, its time to focus on the Chiefs. Broncos have quite a bit at stake. They need to keep in mind that if they win this one, they will be staying in close competition with SD… and that’s what is most important. Give those beach bums a real run for their money. They have a tougher ending to their schedule than we do; but we need to focus on just winning OUR games. This is our time to shine and make a strong impression & ending to our season, that includes taking the West back from those beach boys.
Keep the faith Bronco Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!
07 Elway….totally agree..
San Diego..has:
Tennessee (WOW Vince is Back) – won’t be easy
Bengals – won’t be easy
Dallas – won’t be easy they’re still fighting for every win because Dallas has a brutal schedule ahead as well and only 1 game lead in the division with Philly to play them 1 more time last game of the season.
Washington – never know who shows up here
Cleveland – same thing. They almost beat Bengals last week.
* Both cleveland & washington could be trap games and the remaining 3 could flat out beat San Diego.
We have to take care of the rest of the division. PERIOD! KC twice and the other little turds from CA! (at home that ought to be fun!!!)
Philly – they come to play for the same reason Dallas will against San Diego because they need it for the division and they won’t get a wild card. However, Doom & DJ & Davis should have a field day.
Indy – I too think this is a win. Indy is dangerously skating through games. No dissrespect to them because a win is a win, but they’re falling behind early and fast having to play catch up….it’ll still be a good game but if the “Broncos vs. Giants” show up it’s a win!
Lastly, I would love to be leading the division, however, it’s San Diego’s to lose
and that folks would be freakin’ HILARIOUS!!!!!
It’s not about scheming anymore! It’s not about practicing hard anymore!
It’s about the WANT! the WILL! the HUNGER! if we haven’t done it this season yet it won’t happen now….that’s the thing though. IT HAS! AND WE’VE SEEN IT! I will say this to I’m blue and orange in the face…..
If the Broncos play like they did against the Giants, which was a defense we saw from weeks 1-6 and better and an offense that we haven’t seen yet with as good as a balanced attack we’ve seen this year?????? there isn’t a team we can’t beat. AND you know the offense will only get better!!!
BUT YOU HAVE TO WANT IT!!!!
DENVER….GO DO WHAT YOU DO! TAKE IT!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!!
Yep, we’re on the same page here Broncfalls. The ending to this season will be different for us and SD, and in a good way.
SD is gonna get real cocky about taking our spot (for now) in the division but I’ll tell you what… they have had a tendency to get that way at the end of the season when we blow our lead, right? Well, I’m looking at this like, alright so they’ve taken over but in the MIDDLE of the season, meaning we can get it back and end their little hoo-rah. Point being, when they have won the West to get into the playoffs, they get cocky and when that happens they feel like they can slack off and they choke every time. Now that they have the first spot in the West but in the middle of our season with 5 games left, they’re start playing like they own the world and think giving 110% all the way won’t be necessary. That’s where we take over. We fight and attack to every last second of our last 5 games and we stun them at the end. We’ll see how they like it when they blow their own lead over us and end up in 2nd gear. Like you said Broncfalls… that will be hilarious!
Think I’m blue & orange in the face with ya! haha
This team got fired up vs. the Giants… if that team shows up in the last games… hello AFC West champs!! I know they have the will and hunger to take back what is theirs but they need to do more than say it. Show it! Do that and Flip will be crying one heck of a river at season’s end. Too funny!
Keep the faith Bronco Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!
I am so pround of the guys. I just hope we don’t have a let down after such an up-tempo game. Is Bowe back for KC?
It was great to see the guys play as a team again.
Go Broncos
07 Elway,
You know, one other thing just might play into playing with ENERGY and HUNGER! Tell me what you think….
I believe the 4 game losing streak could now be an advantage playing out the rest of the 5 games.
My thought is that was a HORRIBLE taste in the mouths of the entire organization. Through those 4 games, we saw a team scratching and clawing trying to find ways to get back to the winning way. I’m not so sure they fall into that same trap again!
I believe we will indeed see a team with a hightened sense of urgency. A high level of play both offensively and defensively. Here’s another reason why:
Isn’t it ironic that all through weeks 1 – 10 during the highs and the lows, we heard press conference after press conference about “It’s the next team on the schedule” or “We move on to the next opponent” right???
Well…then after Thanksgiving we hear an over flow of comments suggesting there was a plan. Marshall was one of the first to state the following:
“Back in preseason we talked about what we wanted to do from Thanksgiving on. We needed to be in a position to play for the playoffs starting Thanksgiving weekend and tonight we’ve done that!”
…uh if I could paraphrase here I bet this is what the team meeting looked like this week from JMac:
“Here we are guys! 7-4 and someone to the West has our spot! From here on out we GO! We drop the hammer like the NFL has ever seen! 5 games from now we’ll know where we’ll be at. But one thing is certain. We have the opportunity to finish it off! Our bump in the road has come and gone! It is now time to finish it off!!!”
I believe this team wins out! I truely do! There is too much leadership and talent to suggest otherwise…..again the 4 game losing streak has created a positive influence in not letting it happen again…
Just my thoughts.
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Couldn’t agree more Broncfalls!
I think our bump in the road has come to pass. We went through 4 games of playing like crap only to bounce back in the last 6 (that includes our win over the Giants). I think SD is gonna have a harder time keeping the top spot in the West than it will it be for us to get at least 4/5 wins, even though I’m convinced we can beat Indy.
With leaders like Dawkins, Champ, Orton & Stokley, among many others on the team, I can’t imagine that they’d let this team go down like that again this season. I think the energy in this team was restored last Thursday and will only get stronger as the season comes to an end. We will screw up SD’s so-called “lead” over us and finally take back what belongs to us. The “Wild West” will be owned by the Broncos this year. I think everyone on this team is sick and freakin tired of SD taking it every year… this time around something will be done about it. The West is gonna get smothered with some Bronco lovin’!! muwahahahaha
Keep the faith Bronco Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!
Samoanbronco, easy on the beatdown of your laptop, they’re expensive (LOL).
Thanks for the kind words, I try to bring a different perpective to the blog and goofy/funny story here and there.
Speaking of which: We’re in K.C. and it’s cold…duh, right. We have a player Marshan Graves….BIG lineman and the crowds absolutely ruthless about how big he is and he’s jawing back (mistake) and he has a big winter coat on that looks like Omar the tent maker made it (Kinda Circus sized Cape) Big Guy….so he’s jawing back towards the end of the game and turns around to close to one of the flame thrower heaters and his Cape catches fire and he’s running around in a circle trying to get it off and it was so funny because he now had his own cheering section and the folks behind the bench went crazy laughing at him and busting him coming up with new jokes throughout the remainder of the game.
The rest of us had to keep our faces turned away from the crowd because we were laughing just as hard at the new jokes that sprung up.
Back to football:
On the draw play question. If you’re in a 4-wide set, and Kyle is still hurt. His last option is to scramble because we can’t afford to get him hurt, right. Well thinking like that only one thing happens, you throw the ball. One thing. (Advantage Defense)
Defensive lineman pin their ears back in a sprinter stance and bring it with no thoughts other than a sack. (Advantage Defense)
With a back in the backfield, you have a blocker on the blitz and a draw play option, a shovel pass option and a swing pass option (all dangerous) and have to keep the defensive line a hair more honest. (Advantage Offense)….kinda like going to Vegas…..play were the odds are in your favor, right.
Personally, I say, let’s just run it down their throats as well as we ran the ball and hopefully continue to……in my humble opinion
)
AND, what’s up with the Orton comments. I’m amazed like a number of you are??? I like him, he suits this offense, he’s a winner and I can only count about 6-7 other guys in the League out of 32 that I’d rank ahead of him, and most of them have been starters for a long time. He’s my guy and I still like Simms and you can’t judge the guy on a weeks work and a fumble and then being pulled. If his reads are slower then you move the pocket a bit and make the offense work around his skill level. I have to blame that on the coaching staff. And you know I’m a fan of them but they’re not perfect either….who is?
I’ll take the footnote in the dictionary for my definition of “Rhythm”
)
Broncofalls, brings up a cool question….add where you’re from in your blog…I’d be curious to see where everyone’s from too. He’s from Illinois.
We’re back to “ONE IN A ROW”…let’s go get two in a row at K.C.
Curious to see where everyone’s from.
COOP
Austin here, but I think everyone knows that already.
From Chicago the land of Cutler. They love the man. He is the only person not at fault for there losing season.
God save me!
Love those Broncos
South of Dayton Ohio.
TOP is so important to this team, because the D plays so fast and with so much energy they do get tired. The O does not need to score every time they touch the ball, but the three and outs do hurt us. Now that Kyle is back and the O is doing things with the ball, things are going to be awsome. I think like most of you, we could win out or at worst loose one more. Hopefully Cincy does not sell out against Detroit and I get to see the game at home.
GO BRONCOS
Grand forks N. Dak now living in Centennial, Co for last 17 years.
From Wheat Ridge, CO. Family has had tickets since ’65.
Bring on the chefs….Champ will own Chambers. DOOOOM with at least 2 sacks. They are banged up a little at linebacker so I say 150 yds on the ground for us. 225 and 2 TDs for Orton. Coach McD will be able to disect Cassel.
GO BRONCOS!!!! South Stands Forever!!! The Orange Crush Lives!!
rayjr26, answer on the zone….no I don’t consider the running game a true zone blocking scheme…I’d call it more of a zone step with assignments than the traditional zone blocking scheme other teams play.
broncoterry..shhhhhhhhh, I won’t tell…..see you all on the backside of the KC WIN!!!!!!!!
