What a difference a week makes huh!!! Crazy league, the Jets beat the Titans and we beat the Jets. Does that mean we’re better than the Titans? Of course not. That’s the NFL……even the “Old Man” can’t overcome a few turnovers. TURNOVERS KILL.
Six…..count ‘em, six rookies in the field and numerous injuries. Boy I love these guys and their heart (when it’s on their sleeve). Yea, a few guys out of position a few times and some lousy tackling under tough, rainy, wet…slippery conditions, an O-lineman’s dream game, and a running game that showed up.
The difference, Cutlers timing and accuracy. Three games up four to play. A third road win in a row, against a Jets team that has won five in a row. Wow!! The time to gel is at the end of the season and I keep hoping it’s all coming together……….Only time will tell.
I hope you guys enjoyed that game as much as I did!! Get ‘em boys!!

I think the thing I liked watching the most was seeing Winborn rallying the D all game long. He’d get up from making a play and have his hand in the air waving everyone back to focus. At times it seemed like the D we all love, know and expect to see weekly, a stiff D that didn’t give anything up!
Still saw plenty of opportunity for growth, but all in all a great game!
Thats right turnovers Kill, so does the TIME OF POSSESSION! I hope every one can see how important a good runnng game is. This is only the second game the broncos have controlled the TIME OF POSSESSION this year. 31:55 to 28:05 and to be honest with ya I was’nt sure the Broncos were going to do it.The play calls in the third QTR. seemed like the O Coaches gave up on the run, but BAM there was HILLIS.
I’m still not sure why the O Coaches called two good running plays in the third qtr. and then went to a shotgun formation to go 3&out, but that’s in the past. I hope the O Coaches can keep thier faith in the running game and continue CONTROLLING THE TIME OF POSSESSION! GOOD JOB!
Jay needs more of this and the D needs more of this, keep it up.
Ya the D gave up some big plays but over all they played well. DRE nice job! Winborn & Woodyard laid it out! Leather Head your the MAN. overall B+ for the D.
There is still room for improvement though, keep working hard and good things will come. Hillis need 25 carries a game, and Jay you need to sell the fake better, you could buy yourself a little more time in the backfield with a better fake. O Coaches please keep the faith.
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
W.O.W.
That was AMAZING!!!…
I’m impressed, Cooper. The Broncos were the better team in all facets against the Jets and right now I think I’d take Jay Cutler over Brett Favre every day of the week. Keep up the good work, BRONCOS!!!
I personally believe WE ARE better than the titans. Sure their defense is nice but their offense is sooooo one dimensional and their defense couldn’t stand the force of jets offense so I doubt they can stand the force of our high powered offense. You never know tho. This is just speculation on my part.
The only teams I fair in Playoffs are PITS (cuz they are all round good and messed up our Superbowl shot in 05) and Colts (Cuz of our playoff history with them). But we play our best when we step up against great teams and I think thats the X factor that can take us to the Superbowl. GO BRONCOS!!!!
Hey Coop!!!
That was one of the most amazing games I’ve ever seen this team play in, handle and WIN!!! I’m beyond impressed and very very proud of this team’s strong will to get the job done. Those 6 rookies were just phenomenal in stepping up their game. I love that Shanahan has that much faith and trust in this team and the players… but he really had no choice but to put those 6 in. We have had the most injury plagued season ever (that I can remember) and we have not done too badly at all. Its unbelievable that we done this well with the amount of injuries we’ve had and who has gone out. We’ve gone over a month now without Champ and we’ve won some HUGE games… like yesterday. I mean seriously, who would have ever thought we would have beaten the Jets but get ‘em with the score of 34-17?? I had my faith in this team but I did not see that coming at all. But I love it!!! Its almost like we’re a better team when we’re the underdogs and when people give us a reason to get ticked off and the players take that frustration out in the game by completely shutting down a really good football team like the Jets. I’m just tickled that they played with such heart yesterday… now the part I don’t get is where is all this in a game against a really bad team like the Chiefs and Raiders?
I have not one complaint, they did what they had to do to get that win but more importantly they EARNED that win. That game was all about the Denver Broncos. We can be a serious threat to other playoff teams as long as we play every game like we did yesterday – minus the INT.
Have faith and keep believing Broncos Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!
This game was huge Coop! it was exciting to watch, i was at the edge of my chair the whole game. you have to give it up to Cutler and the receivers. yes they dropped a few but with how hard Jay throws and the rain, i was surprised not to see more dropped. it was an all around effort.
Now for the D. it was huge to see spencer go out, Fox, Bell, and Barrett all had good games, Bly was great again, now i hope you guys will stop bashing him. he is good, but lined up against Champ he’ll get more throws his way, he’s being holding his own and i’m for one proud. Besides a few big plays, their running game was stalled. We never really got to Brett but you could see Doom almost there a couple of times. Our O-line was superb once again. opening holes for Hillis and keeping Jay protected, can we just send them all to the ProBowl now!
This team keeps playing up to it’s competition and i hope they can continue to play at the level they played on Sunday, if so i could see us winning out, taking the West and then it’s the road to the SB. yeah the odds are against us but we have been huge on the road and thats what we will need to do to get to the Super Bowl so maybe it’s a good thing.
Can’t wait for the next sunday, let’s crush those Chiefs.
Keep the faith
GO BRONCOS!!!!
It’s good to see the orange jerseys again this year, eh Coop?!
Coop I can’t agree with you more…an offensive linemen’s dream conditions and with a guy like Hillis running behind you…what more can you ask for! I would love to hear your opinion on Hillis Coop. I think this guy is amazing. I love the way he dips his shoulder and runs over safeties. I know when you played Coop you had some pretty good runningbacks behind you but this Hillis guy has won me over. I’m sold. He has to be on the field! His character is solid too..I have watched his postgame interviews and he appears to be first class. Anyone that gives credit to Jesus Christ and tells the press he prayed before the game for strength is alright in my book!
As a high school football coach and teacher, I wish more student-athletes realized great character is what propels you to bigger and better things. It excites me to see the type of players on the Broncos. I believe for the most part they have great character and it is paying huge dividends on the field!
Cutler is is amazing but he still worries me…he is a self-admitted Favre fan and if you ask me he is careless like Favre too. I guess you have to take the bad with the good. The thing in Cutler’s favor though is solid WR’s and a nice pair of TE’s in Scheffler and Graham.
The Jets game was testament to the heart of the Broncos. The Defense was incredible. Stopping Favre and the Jets three times on 4th down was unbelievable…is it smoke and mirrors or are these guys starting to figure it out? I don’t know but I will enjoy the win over the J E T S Jets Jets Jets all week! Once again Coop it was a joy to read your blog and I look forward to it all week! Take care and snag a big one for me! Peace!
Elway07,
I know we’ve exchanged post and replys several times and I totally agree with what you said.
Secondly, how many times have I said it on this website. This is a very, very dangerous team! they will put up points on you and in a hurry!!!! That is exactly what happened.
Monodono, great post and to just throw something out there. Hillis was again a force out there getting TOUGH, TOUGH YARDS! but I had no problem with them going to the shotgun over and over because Cutler was on and as long as he stood back there it never gave the JETS to get comfortable. he was seeing the field very well and picking them apart.
Die hard fan here saying once again, this team will go deep into the playoffs if not the super bowl because they WILL SCORE POINTS.
The ravens won a superbowl soely on their defense. Well I’m here to say that I’ll take my 2nd ranked NFL offense into the playoffs along with a defense that is playing very well. WITH ROOKIES!
The defense is coming around and if you take away the long run Thomas had (and I know you just can take away a run like that) they played very well.
VERY IMPRESSED ONCE AGAIN!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
COOP,
Good news ex-rays on Larsen’s hip were neg. Bad news Josh Shaw could be out for the rest of the season with a dislocated elbow. Whats your thoughts on the conditioning in Broncos land?
I could list a whole lot of players names that did well yesterday,(and probably will) but the one stand out for me was Casey Wiegman! I hope he does’nt get fined for that. He really took it to Kris Jenkins man. no solo tackles only three assists and zero sacks! WOW! Not to mention opening up some great holes for Hillis up the middle. GREAT JOB CASEY!
Which leads me to Hillis who just is that BEAST of a running back. He almost doubled his season total in rushing yards. He said he thought 99.9% of the people did’nt believe in him, I do Peyton keep it up! Hillis needs 25 carries a game. I also believe in this TEAM when they run first good job O Coaches! (I thuoght you gave up on the run in the 3rd qtr.)
Which leads me to the Tight Ends you guys really blocked well and made some fantastic receptions. Scheffler#1 in receptions and Graham #2 in receptions in this game Great job.
Which leads me to the recievers Eddie you just keep being Eddie and I can hear the fans chanting Eddie, Eddie, Eddie… like they use too! Brandon you are the man!
Which leads me to Jay. Jay you were superb! Keep it up. I hope you can see what a good Ballanced game plan can do for you. Run first control the clock, then hit your tight ends after the linebackers and safeties commit, then your wide outs will be man to man. (sell that fake better and you will own the linebackers every time!)
Can anyone see the progression here? run the ball first, a good fake controls the linebackers, then BAM! you gottem. Now go do that to the Cheats!
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
Offense performed very well with minimal mistakes.
Defense made plays at key times as well as forcing turnovers!
This team is making plays!
When the Broncos play like this I like to think they can play with anybody.
Keep it up!
Is there any reason why we can’t finish this season and start ’09 with Hillis as the feature back? I don’t see why not.
I could see a Thunder and Lightning backfield with Hillis and Alridge/Pittman next year.
Or maybe a Thunder and Thunder backfield with Hillis and Torain.
Either way, just because Hillis isn’t 200 pounds with a 4.3 40 yard dash doesn’t mean we can’t keep giving him the rock 20 times a game!
ITZ AMAZING HOW WE HAD ALOT OF OUR OWN FANZ BAGGING ON BLY AND NOW EVERYONE IS QUIET. THE BOTTOM LINE BLY IS A TOP CORNER IN THIS LEAGUE AND WHEN HIS OPPERTUNITY APPEARS HE PLAYES REALLY WELL…..NICE WIN ON THE ROAD BY THE WAY LETS GO HOME AND POUND THE CHIEFS WITH A STATEMENT GAME TO THE REST OF THE DIVISION……. AFC WEST CHAMPIONS ….GO BRONCOS
No, Bly still is a so-so corner. Always will be. On the play he got the INT his receiver was open but Favre over shot him. Otherwise we’re talking about how he blew coverage again.
He won’t be off my hook until he makes good tackles and shows continued good coverage.
Not a bad game tho.
Here’s a thought. How about the Broncos wear their road uniforms at home? After all, it seems to work on the road (LOL!)
But seriously, GREAT game! I was nervous throughout the whole game, mainly because you never know what’ll happen when it rains. If I had anything to gripe about (and even that would be a strech), it would be Winborn being out of position on that long run by Jones. But anyone can miss a play every now and then. Other than that, it looked like a total team win. Way to go Denver! Oh yeah, I also wish that second TD Hillis scored would’ve counted.
GO BRONCOS! SCALP THE CHIEFS!
I don’t understand why we have played so poorly at home and great on the road. Actually, I do. Cutler has put up great numbers on the road and had a lot of turnovers at home. I hope he isn’t trying too hard at home. This win is great, but we need to follow it up with another solid performance. We have yet to play 2 straight solid games on both sides of the ball. KC took it to us last time, so we need to make up for that. I just hope the Colts slide late and don’t make the playoffs. I feal Manning even when their offense has struggled. I can’t remember a game against the Colts that our defense has not been destroyed (post Elway days of course).
I dont know how you can say dre is a so-so corner jack-fan when laverneous coles had 2 CATCHES!!! jus 2 for only 2 yards… dre is a stud and he doesnt get credit when champ is there because he gets picked on constantly by the QB’s. but wow, i really didnt think hillis could be a lone RB and control the game like he did. I was one of the fans who said we needed to air it out more and i was very very wrong. ALl of u who said we need to control TOP were right. the D yet again is getting better every single week and i think once we get into the playoffs we can be dangerous. WE have beaten 2 very good playoff teams now in NYJ and ATL and next we have the cheifs. Lets kick their a** and get in the playoffs!!! 2 more wins and were in, or one win and a charger loss!!!
Damn nice game, I agree with you guys about it is funny how the negative fans are non existant today, now on to the Chiefs!
i cant argue how awesome that game was. my brother is a big jets fan and that game really sets me up for the next couple years. but to those of you that are hating on the haters, there is no way that any of you can convince me that you were not astounded that our team lost at home to the raiders. i EXPECT wins against KC and buffalo. if we cant win those games then what the hell is the point of going to the playoffs.
Any corner put across the field from champ bailey is gunna struggle when they have 90% of the deep balls by them selves lol
This was such a great win! I’ve been knocking on Bly for a while, but he’s been stepping up like he should and let’s just hope he keeps the play up. He will see more balls once Champ gets back.
Great blocking up front by everyone, giving Hillis the chance to crash and bang in there…I love his style of in-your-face running. Kinda reminds me of how Davis would just drop his head down and GO!
I just hope this whole Jeckyl and Hyde things ends and we play consistent football the rest of the way. I never know which team will show up. All I know is that when Cutler is ON, we will win the game.
Royal blows my mind! By far one of the most exciting players in the league today. That catch and run was off the hook!
We have to humiliate the Chiefs next week…..no more let downs.
I can’t wait to see River’s face when he plays the Broncos knowing he’s on the outside looking in…..he might want to just sit it out and cry like the little baby he is!
I HOPE WE PLAY LIKE THAT AGAINST THE CHIEFS NEXT WEEK @HOME.
Great game guys. I have to admit I was not sure about Hillis being a feature back but yesterday sure proved me wrong. He was awesome and the entire team played incredible. Our D which I consider average at best really stepped up on those 4th downs which is more about heart than talent. Great job guys…..West Coast
1. Hillis is not a RB or a FB, he’s a HB, and no that doesnt stand for Halfback, its Hybrid-back, this guy is a beast and will be an important player in our offence for years to come.
2. Bly is a great corner no matter what any of you nay-sayers think, he’s made so many great plays in the last few weeks and is playing with confidence now, i cant wait til Champ is back and these two live up to the hype they had when we first signed Bly
3. For anyone who doesnt like how Culter takes his chances please go sit on your own face. We wouldnt be where we are without him taking those chances, he’s established himself as a top 5 quarterback in the league and in my opinion it goes 1.P. Manning 2. Brady 3.Brees 4. Culter 5. Romo
3rd rank run D my @%%…lol….our terrific O-line owned that Jets defensive line anchored by non other than Defensive Player candidate Kris Jenkins….I praise our young line men, anchored by superb veterans Hamilton and Weigman…Hillis is the hulk…humble off the field and around teammates but punishes opposing defenses on the field..
monodono…i give you credit my fellow fan.. You kept mentioning TIME OF POSSESION as the key and in the end thats what happened…great posts..
I hope it rains or snows next week…so Cutler can pick apart that KC defense..lol..
Look at this scenario…
AFC Playoffs
1 Titans
2 Jets
3 Steelers
4 Broncos
5 Colts
6 ?
AFC Wild Card Round
Colts (Dome Team) @ Broncos (Mile High)
I Think We can win this one!
#2 WC @ Steelers
I asume Pittsburg will win.
AFC Divisional Round
Broncos @ Jets
We all know how that turned out!
Steelers @ Titans
I would take the Titans.
AFC Championship
Broncos @ Titans
I really think we match up well but I just can’t make a prediction yet.
jack_fan is being a jack_a** again.
bly is better than a so so corner and you know it. he has done his job when champ has been out by shutting down top recievers in our league along with 2 int’s. and it doesn’t matter how he gets the INT, a pick is a pick.
But this was a great win. The rookies continue to impress.
Is there any word on Larsen?
I feel that when DJ and Nate are back that Woodyard and Winborn have both deserved to get some good amount of snaps in. Larsen too if he is healthy.
Hillis should remain HB for the remainder of the season even though i would hate to see him get worn down or injured.
bronc fan in WA, Bly is not better than a so-so corner. He has not done his job since champ’s injury and he hasnt done his job before champ’s injury. Most of the big play’s that come on Denver’s D is Bly’s fault. Bly is one of the many weak links in our D. Where have you been the last two years?
On a better note Denver did win the game. This team has been the weirdest Denver team i have ever seen. We do great against the better teams and we are horrible against the bad teams. Good example of this is the losses to the Cheifs, Jags and Raiders. Hopefully they can find a way to pull together and come to relize that every game is a challenge. There is no such thing as a “free win” in this league.
With all that being said i can see Denver losing again to KC in Denver where the Broncos have done horribly this year. I just hope that last ass kicking has left a nasty taste in their mouths and they dont take KC lightly again this time.
Once we get champ back and if dre plays like he has the last couple of weeks, we will shut down the pass.
P.S. Josh Bell rocks!
bold predictions broncos14441, but I like them..ahah…
I’m especially anxious to see us play the COlts…they’re a different story..
our O-line has dominated/held up its own against most defenses with atleast one premier passrusher…(i.e Porter,Abraham,JEnkins,Burgess, and pretty soon Peppers, etc) but the Colts have two of em’…Mathis + Freeney…its going to be a challenge that I am looking forward to watch..
as for now, we need this win against KC…the Chargers have Oakland and KC for the next two weeks before TB and then the Broncos…I cant believe SD has such an easy schedule yet they’re on their backs..ahah
.. we have the Panthers then Buffalo then finally SD…till then we cant rest.
broncos14441: i agree with your playoff picture but you made a mistake..
3.steelers vs. 6. _______
4.broncos vs. 5. colts
now if the broncos and steelers won the divisional round would be:
1.titans vs. 4.broncos
2. jets vs. 3. steelers
Also, anyone who is still trashing Bly, go play in heavy traffic, he’s made play after play after play these last few weeks.. a couple INT’s, a huge key forced fumble, a stop for a loss and a pass deflection yesterday, and he has kept bigger name receivers like L. Coles, R. White, and B. Edwards contained
That’s right Monodono: Casey Wiegmann did an outstanding job against Jenkins. I’m glad you watched that matchup.. it was a big key per our blogs conversations from last Friday & Saturday. In fact the whole offensive line had a solid performance yesterday, allowing Cutler the time he needed to find his receivers & opening up some big holes for Hillis to find daylight !!
Hats off to:
LT Ryan Clady
LG Ben Hamilton
C Casey Wiegmann
RG Chris Kuper
RT Ryan Harris —- You Guys were ROCK SOLID!!!!!
COOP,
There seems to be a real controversy over DRE BLY and his talent. Why do people either Love him or hate him? To me I see it from a different point of view. I’ve got a Dealers perspective. Ya see you win with pocket Aces about two out of three times but when the players lose with pocket Aces it’s unjust and they can’t believe thier luck, “pocket aces should never lose!’ and thats all those players can remember. They lose a big hand so it hurts and they never forget and they never let it go.
Face it the Cornerback position is full of big losses thats the nature of the position. The missed playes hurt bad and people wont let it go. Remmember Darion Gordon I thought he was very tallented, and he was, but he missed a few plays and the fans wanted his head. He moved on and had a good carrer. I think Dre is playing his heart out, and He’s very tallented certainly better than so-so.
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
royalbroncofan 1 I could’nt be happier with the O Line! Last year I was worried big time! Now they look as sharp as any O Line the Broncos have ever put together. If they continue to work on the running game this TEAM will be feared again. It all starts here.
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
A couple of weeks ago, i said that hillis running style is similar to john riggins…and so far it has showed. Yet am worried that next year shanny will either put hillis back on FB or as a TE. I hope what he said in his interview was just a thought…Nothing more.. We have a great HB since TD…We can actually make it to the promise land with this guy running in the backfield. Hats off to the OL once again…Keep up the great job in pass and run blocks
CAN I JUST SAY THAT OUTSIDE OF MY 2 YEAR OLD TRYING TO SQUEEZE OUT “GO BRONCOS” THE BEST PART OF SUNDAY WAS WATCHING THAT BOTTOM FEEDING, NON PLAYOFF APPEARANCE, WHINNY, JAG BAG, OVER RATED QB IN SAN DIEGO GET HIS A$$ HANDED TO HIM IN HIS OWN STADIUM….
RIVERS WATCHING YOU STOMP AROUND THE SIDELINES WHILE A ROOKIE QB TOOK YOU TO SCHOOL WAS PRICELESS!
ENJOY THE OFFSEASON!!!!! O.H. YEAH, THE MICHAEL TURNER LET GO ISN’T LOOKING SO SMART RIGHT NOW….HE HE….LOL!
face the facts..we are a young inconsistent team…so why is everyone so hyped up all the sudden..you guys are idiots for thinking all the sudden we’re gonna go “deep” into the playoffs..we don’t have a solid defense, our offense is gonna get stuffed eventually and were gonna need it not a medicre defense but an above average one
raider hater is obviously a fool, i had to stop reading that crap get off this site dre bly is a great, not a so so, not a bad and damn sure not a terrible corner. this guy can make any quarterback pay and he has proved that over his career what the hell have you done? your a fatass, broke bum who cant see his own …. go learn something about football if you post one more bad comment about this team ill hunt you down and put a chargers jersey and an oakland hat on you cause your a punk ass bitch
WOW!…..
Hey COOP bad news, they put Josh Shaw in IR. Good news they signed free agent Herana Daze Jones this Kid looks great on paper especially special teams. But can he play safety. What do you know about this guy? Why did the Bangles of all teams waive him?
The Broncos have thier hands full with the cheats again. Larry Johnson, Tony Gonzales, and this monster Dwayne Bowe. I hope the O Coaches do the same thing they did last week and keep this TEAM Ballanced. Run the ball on first down, to set something up later and control the clock. If they can once again keep thier O and our D off the field The Broncos should win this one.
bailythebronco, hey man lighten up raider hater has every right to express his opinion no matter how wrong it is, or how stupid it is, or how blind it is, or how fat, or how broke he is. Right COOP!?
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
Easy fellas this is a place to have some fun…and sometimes it’s just better to ignore comments… I ignore Mondono all the time
) hee! hee! had to go there. Way to stay on em buddy!!
raiderhater did have a point though, you have to admit, this has really been a funky team with the youth, the injuries, losing easy games, losing home games versus road games. Rookies fillinh big shoes, Larson going both ways. Hillis out of no where. It has been an odd year. Actually others have commented on tha whole league being weird this year and I agree 100%. It’s a crap shoot in my view.
Hey, on Hillis, I’m having trouble trying to figure out who he reminds me of. I heard Riggins on the Lou from Littleton Show tonight on the way home from the office, working late…….nah. I was thinking he’s kind of a cross between Larry Csonka running style and Jim Kick catching style out of the backfield. It’s his size that has me baffled.
What do you all think?
He’s such a hulking guy to do what he does for a running back? I’m a fan of his athleticism period…you have to admire that alone…….and a humble guy…rare today. Like that!!
O-line, exciting to know we have a franchise style line that will get better and better and hopefully keep the running game on track…that running game and no turnovers WILL get us deep into the Playoffs IF we keep at it, and only IF.
I’m going to make a weird comment here. I just wonder if DJ and Webster were so fast that they were getting themselves out of their lanes simply because they were so fast? I’ve seen that before where they are so fast they overreact…..any thoughts.
Coop
Hey who’s Mondono any way?
raiderhater, I’m sorry. I did’nt really mean you were fat and broke I was just trying to make a joke.
Czonka, ol # 39. the strongest fullback to ever play the game. I don’t think Hillis is quite that strong but I could be wrong. When he carries four defenders on his back before the fifth comes in at the knees to take him down thats when I will compare him to my Favorite player of all time. I would rather just call him Payton Bam Bam Hillis and leave it at that. I can tell he wears cowboy boots all the time, I knew a guy in high school who wore cowboy boots all the time and he ran the same way something about those heels. I met Larry Czonka once, second biggest hands I ever shook, Doak Walker had the biggest, Huge! Hillis is a throw back and I for one admire that the most about him. Infact Doak Walker was a very humble man as well, wow, what do you think of that combo COOP? I never got to see Doak Walker run the ball but I knew he was one tough man.
I also agree that the running game and no turnovers will take us along way, if the O Coaches keep the faith but lets focus on the Cheits first. All this talk of the play offs is a big distraction and I would rather stay focused on one game at a time. TIME OF POSSESSION! ! ! ROCK SOLID! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
