Tebow Time!!!

December 19th, 2010 - 9:22pm by mark_cooper

CONGRATS on your first start Tim. I loved playing in Oakland. It was a great place to compete. Like I mentioned last week, kind of a cross between a Halloween party on steroids and a biker convention.

Tebow time!!! The blogosphere here has been waiting for you to start, so I am not going to keep them waiting. I’m going to leave this one WIDE-OPEN for the fans comments!!!

You have finally received what you have been asking for since the day Tim Tebow was drafted. Let’s hear it!!!

I’m just glad we are able to even talk about getting a new staff, before McD was fired I was beginning to think we would never see the Sun again.lol.

  2. milehighmagic88 says:

Ha! I know how you feel. I felt like I was in the twilight zone during McD’s reign. Like Dorothy on the Wizard of Oz would say, “We’re not in Kansas anymore” except in this case it was more like “We’re not in Denver anymore” lol

  3. BeastFromEast92 says:

When I saw Tebow run it up the middle for the TD,I was like YES,I knew he was gonna be special,he just needed a chance,I hope he gets to start the final 2 games, with that and training camp under his belt this spring,I think he will be ready to take on anything that gets in his way next year.

  4. BeastFromEast92 says:

I think we have the players on Offense for Tebow to be successful,if we get back to zoneblocking, and maybe get a pass catching TE.The main thing is to get this Defense of ours back to a nasty mentality,we need a smashmouth leader like Al Wilson.I hope we draft at least 1 good LB.

  5. milehighmagic88 says:

Yeah bro, I totally agree. Greg Jones LB from Michigan State with our first 2nd rd pick. I’ve mentioned this before on the blogs. The guy’s a freak of nature, a nasty tackler and a truly inspirational vocal leader. He’s got Al Wilson written all over him.

So my dream draft as of now is Fairley in the 1st, and Jones in the 2nd.

  6. milehighmagic88 says:

Most of the draft experts think he’s an early to mid 2nd rounder, so we’d be in prime position.

  7. Broncos Born & Raised says:

You guys have said it all, quiete eloquently but this bares repeating several hundred times: Tebow is the man. We knew he was the man, and he was hampered by the ultraconservative play calling. I didn’t understand that element of it. Why not let him make his mistakes now? Running it so much on third and long? Even the announcer knew the plays before they happened. I know, I know – Studesville is auditioning for his job or whatever. Didn’t want to take risks. That’s fine. Regardless of what letter went up in the W/L colum, we had the pleasure of seeing the future of our organization – a reassuring future at that.
Maybe my favorite moment of today was watching him in the post game press conference. He was an untested rookie playiing his first start, and doing it in a lost season. How dissapointed could he – or anyone – be with the performance he gave? Yet clealy he was. You could see it in his eyes. Hear it in his voice. He’s the same guy that made “The Promise” after the Old Miss upset. Now he’s OUR guy, and he won’t tolerate failure. He’ll make the guys around hinm better. Here’s to hoping he starts his last two games. I don’t see why he wouldn’t considering he’s outperformed Kyle’s last two. What an exciting time!

    The Tebow Train.

Well I’d like to talk about Kyle a little bit first. I like Orton. I think he is a good quarterback. I’d take Orton over a lot of guys in the league honestly. But the fans have never been behind him here, and for what ever reason the fans and media haven’t been behind him where ever he goes. like Rodney Dangerfield, He gets no respect. But let the chips fall where they may. Despite Orton’s hard work and dedication and his obvious skill as a quarterback, there is just something missing. even when we win. There is no Fire. what happened to the mile high salute? when players were proud to be broncos. when they were fired up to be playing on one of the greatest american football teams ever. Orton is really good, but he obviously doesn’t inspire his teammates. i have never seen anyone rally around kyle or kyle rally around anyone else. Everyone respects Kyle and everyone likes him. but he isn’t great. Tim Tebow is Greatness. Pure and Simple. Ok, i admit. i didn’t youtube his highlight reels. i am not into college football. other than the few snaps he took earlier in the season, ive never watched him play ball. i’ve heard what hes done and i know of his reputation and achievements. Ive always taken an approach to letting a rookie player learn in a system, especially at quarterback position.i dont believe orton has done anything to deserve being fired. i always felt that we ride Orton this year and possibly next. let Tebow grow and start him in 2012. after i saw Tebow today, would i want Cutler back? not in a million years. I hated cutlers sour attitude. Cutler has skill, but i never felt like people liked him much. I liked Kyle as a football player and as a man.but with this season hurting more than any i can remember in 25 years of watching the Broncos play, its Tebow time in Denver. Tim brings something to the team that Kyle can never in all his days bring. Tebow brings spark and emotion. He has heart and determination and a will to win.Reminds me of how Elway willed us to win games. With drive and determination. With athletic ability and heart. Leadership. the intangibles that no one can write down on paper. But as Orton got banged up last week against Arizona. a little voice whispered in my ear. and i wished that Tebow would come in the game. For the first time in a very long time i began to hope. as the week progressed towards our inevitable loss to Oakland, i found my self anxious to see if Tebow would play and then rejoiced when i heard he was going to make the start. Orton who? with all of Kyle’s grit and hard work, by the first snap of todays game many of us had forgotten his name. by the time Tebow was running down the field, shedding secondary as he went on his way to a 40 yard touchdown, i was sold. ill take a one way ticket on the Tebow express, please. and i believe in my heart that everyone one of the players, the fans and the coaches. were running into the end zone with him, believing in him. believing in themselves. Finally. He showed true brilliance today, even when limited so severely, and for the first time since we drafted him, I’m believing too. Believing that he is finally the one that will bring us back to Greatness. The Tebow Train is coming through. There is no stopping it now. Good luck to you, Kyle. Thanks for the 2 years of hard work. and i wish you the best in life and a successful career. Time to let the future have his turn. Time to take a ride on the Tebow Train.

    AK…

That about sums up my sentiments exactly.

  10. tiotom77 says:

Could Tebow match Elway? (I’d like to think so)
    The Tebow Era Has Begun!
Get him the right coach.. the sky’s the limit (or Superbowl)

  11. Lafienny says:

I sure hope they increase Tebows accuracy on madden because he is way more accurate then what madden has him at

  12. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    Lol Bay,

I was off in my prediction…I didnt see that u accepted my new prediction and was talking about my first prediction. So not only did i not read the post when u said we could re pick cuz of wheather i missed the post where you posted the post that we can repick and accepted my pick lol. So yea I see it now…

…Man im still excited about watching Tebow yesterday. Future looks bright. Hope they let him do MORE against the Texans. I think we can win the game with the right play calls. His deep accuracy is as good as they come. The corner pass in the endzone to lloyd…and the pass to ball that hit him RIGHT on the numbers that he dropped.

Im with you lafienny, I pray they boost him. Cuz for a first round pick who was great in college…madden did him NO justice…

  13. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    AKsouthsida

well said, Orton gets no respect like dangerfield indeed but he isnt a bad QB…wont call him great but he is a good QB at times. Other times he isn’t. I think he can start somewhere else like minnesota who isn’t sure about QB next year. I feel bad for Orton, great guy and all but he is just missing a lil thing that would make him great…a lil thing that makes a BIG difference. Doesn’t help that this team is bad either…put him on a good team like the Vikes and I think they go to playoffs (great running game) just need to fix defense.

  14. 1nOnlyTRB says:

By the way its official. Tim Tebow to start in final 2 games

    http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/40749490/ns/sports-player_news/

  15. caramelloo says:

1nOnlyTRB – I’m with you 100%! Orton isn’t bad and he isn’t good. Anyone who watched that game yesterday saw things from Tebow that they didn’t see from Orton.

    1. Intensity
    2. Calmness like he had everything under control
    3. Getting buck and jumping up and down with the Defense before they went on the field or after.
    4. Standing and watching the FG attempt and going shake they hands of the guys as they are coming off the field.
    5. I can go on but don’t want to waste yall time.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

Nearly everything I wanted happen happened yesterday:

Wanted to see the rookies get more work, saw that.

Wanted to see Tebow start, saw that.

Wanted us to be competitive but lose the game to stay near the top of the draft order, saw that too.

An exceptional day it was my friends, by far the very best losing Bronco game I have ever had the pleasure to watch.

Right off the bat, a designed Tebow run up the middle for a 40 yard TD, the longest TD run by any QB in the entire Bronco history!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! Unfreaking believable is what that was.

Then he perfectly lofted a bomb in the corner of the end zone for a 33 yard TD reception by Lloyd, making him only the third player in the NFL to throw a TD pass at least 30 yards and run for a score of at least 40 yards in the same game. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?!?!?!

AND ALL THAT IN TEBOW’S FIRST START!!!

Like I said last night a fan is only going to be blessed having top notch franchise QB’s on his team two or three times in his lifetime, and that’s if he is lucky. Call me lucky then, I had Elway and now I will be enjoying watching Tebow trying to put his own imprint on our history. It couldn’t of been a grander debut, like a zillion times better than Elway’s first game, not getting carried away here, just calling it as I saw it.

    Now on to business:

Orton must now accept to be demoted to #2 regardless of his health, because Tebow time must be now and for good regardless of the difficulties he might encounter. If Tebow doesn’t start Sunday because Studs says something like I don’t believe a player should lose his starting spot because of injuries, I swear I will blow my top!!! And for next season we need to trade Orton if at all possible because there is no way on earth we neeed a 9 mil back up QB next year.

Just like Studs needs to tell Orton the truth now that he is no longer in our plans as far as a starting QB, Bowlen and Ellis must show the same respect to Studs and tell him he is not even being considered a long term option as HC, and same goes for Martindale, someone, anyone, needs to tell him he is not even slightly considered as a long term solution as our DC.

That would be the manly thing to do, the right thing to do, let everyone know where they stand on this team, there is no fairness in letting the current charade continue with these individuals. Thanks for your services, you’ve done the best you could, we appreciate you finishing your employment contract for the year and we already wish you the best in your future. Period, that’s the best way for us to move forward from this unbelievable 3-11 season so far.

Please be transparent and honest with your current staff so we can move on with interviews and what not RIGHT NOW.

So what if that might make it that much harder to win any of the two remaining games, THAT’S WHAT I WANT, THAT’S WHAT’S IN OUR BEST INTEREST! No excuses, we must be assembling our future organizational structure NOW. IT’S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT TIMING, we need to let no one walk out on this because we didn’t jump in soon enough, that would be utterly stupid considering where we are at.

Anyway, that’s my advice for the day.

  17. BeastFromEast92 says:

Bay,I will accept you advice of the day, why? because I agree with everything you said.

    TRB,thanks for the link bro!
Glad to see Tebow starting the final 2 games.

    SIGN CHAMP!!!!!!!!!!

  18. vraptor567 says:

lots of ways a rookie QB can perform in his first NFL game, but when TT took the field yesterday he made a distinct statement rarely seen in rookies: leadership, I have never seen a rookie rally a team like Tebow did yesterday. Gone was the demoralized hang dog look our Broncos have had for the last 4 games. Tim stepped in and showed us all commitment, dedication, passion, leadership and a willingness to take our Broncos to the next level, in a word he was AWESOME and clearly the future of our team. We may have lost yesterdays game but the Broncos gained a team captain who is sure to take us back to the glory days. Best loss I have ever seen, can’t wait till next weeks game
    GO BRONCOS

  19. PNG Bronco says:

Bay great read… It was the best loss we’ve had all year. We stayed competitive and the rookies did well despite the loss. One thing I can take from that game is that we certainly have a future to build upon. As much as the word “REBUILD” is hated and disdained around our staff and admin, we need to accept that that is what it is going to take. Great debut Tebow and great leadership shown!!! Definitely something we can rebuild around!!!

  20. BeastFromEast92 says:

    A picture is worth a 1000 words:

    http://www.denverpost.com/broncos

Have you ever seen that much enthusiasm and intensity on Orton’s face?

Tebow is full of enthusiasm and intensity, and he IS the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. BeastFromEast92 says:

I agree that we need to rebuild, but I don’t want to trade down in the draft to get more picks, like most teams do when they rebuild!
I think we can rebuild just fine with Fairley/Dareas with the 1st pick and maybe Powe DT and Jones LB with our two 2nd round picks.

  22. baylinorcrush says:

Just to add on to what Tebow truly accomplished yesterday:

John Elway in his first pro start (1-of-8 for 14 yards, 0 yards rushing). Tebow was 8-of-16 for 138 yards, with a 100.5 passer rating, and 216 yards overall.

  23. baylinorcrush says:

BFE, about Tebow’s pic, I like that look on our QB way better than I liked it on our HC McD, haha.

  24. BeastFromEast92 says:

Bay,I’m gonna start my ‘Defensive draft is a must campaign’ early this year.lol.

  25. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Yeah I heard that bro!

  26. BeastFromEast92 says:

Bay,What do you think about Kubiak and Dennison coming back if Houston fires them?
Also what do you think about Wade Phillips as DC?

  27. BeastFromEast92 says:

I’m gonna post this link for all the Bronco Country fans that haven’t read it yet,it’s about Xanders,if you haven’t read it,you need to.

    http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/broncos-stick-with-xanders-but-will-his-role-be-expanded-or-diminished-112125054.html

  28. BeastFromEast92 says:

Xanders said he would relish the idea to be the GM with descision making abilities,so that proves McD had ALL the power, and Xanders was very limited in the failure of this season.I could be wrong,I would like to see us get a legitimate GM,but if Xanders is kept on,he will be limited, and maybe Elway and Ellis will have final say.

  29. baylinorcrush says:

Talking about our D, this is the proof of how old our D has become:

While starting out the year half way decent, in a similar collapse as last year, this is some of the points scored on us the last 8 games:

    59
    35
    36
    43
    39

An over 34 points average per game score against us for the last 8 games!?!?!?!?!?! I think that has a lot to do with why a guy like Cowher would have no interest in coming over here. Way too much re-build needed on that side of the ball. That’s what you get when you fail to address the D for so many years, and hiring McD was the final touch to the complete decimation of our D, and only Bowlen and Ellis can take the blame for that. They must really be feeling awful about that, and deservedly so.

  30. baylinorcrush says:

    No to Kubiak.

    No to Phillips.

    Yes to Dennison.

Yes to Greg Williams, Spewell or Rivera.

  31. oldsouthstander says:

Like everybody else, I was highly impressed with TT’s performance yesterday. Much more impressed than I thought possible. He’ll still make his share of stupid rookie mistakes, but he sure seems to be able to learn in a hurry. The play calling was an absolute joke! TT showed by the incredible TD to LLoyd that he has a srong arm. Why not pass more? The Raiders were geared totally to stopping the run. The only thing I can think is the McD never gave TT any passing reps and so OC felt he couldn’t handle it. Sure hope it’s Tebow time the last two gmes.

  32. baylinorcrush says:

CANADIANS? CANADIANS? YOU’RE QUOTING CANADIANS!?!?! WHAT DO THEY KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN FOOTBALL… CANADIANS?

    Hahahaha!

  33. strandoftds says:

Ya Bay, I said that last night. Trade orton. He`s way to expensive for a 2nd string. Dead money.

  34. baylinorcrush says:

About the OC’s play calling, Gaffney couldn’t of said it better without getting himself in trouble:

“He’s going to be something special. They’ve just got to let him play,” Broncos wide receiver Jabar Gaffney said.

  35. strandoftds says:

I`m looking forward to next weeks game and into next year. I can hardly wait.

  36. broncosfreak30 says:

Man, I have watched the highlights over and over again and Lance Ball just keeps making me sick with how he dropped that wide open TD!!! That would’ve given Tebow 3 TD’s on the day and would’ve been even more impressive!!! If that was Moreno, that’s TD ALLLLL DAY!!!!

  37. baylinorcrush says:

Can’t count on Moreno, definitely has proven to be injury prone, and as TRB has said all year Lance Ball couldn’t even catch a cold, that’s how bad his hands are, so no surprise there, just saying.

  38. sndvl says:

Our D is awesome at setting the edge! Too bad they forget to cover guys out of the backfield, get pressure on the QB, cover TEs and tackle.

I’m still in disbelief about our D basically giving up 1 point for every ten yards gained.

    DEFENSE in 2011

  39. baylinorcrush says:

Funny, Legwold just posted something about how bad and old our D has become due to lack of drafting for D over the years, just what some of us are always talking about here:

The Broncos have spent most of their draft capital in recent years on offense.

And the bill has most assuredly come due.

Josh McDaniels often talked of balance in the playbook and on the roster. But he called plays on offense and still used 11 of the 19 draft picks he made in his tenure on the offensive side of the ball.

That total included three of the four first-round picks he made in two drafts to go with two of the four second-round picks the team made as well. That’s prime draft real estate with plenty impact defensive players still on the board.

Overall, the Broncos have just 20 of their own draft picks on their current 53-man roster. That’s not even 50 percent, so it’s no wonder the Broncos are where they are at the moment especially since just seven of those picks are defensive players.

That has left the Broncos trying to use free agency to fill in the gaps. And their gamble on a defense that lined up seven starters at least 30 years old when the season began has failed.

Veteran leadership is coveted in the league, but players have to be on the field and in the lineup to lead effectively. It’s just the way it is, just the way it will always be.

After years of the approach — including under former head coach Mike Shanahan as well at times — and now five years without a playoff appearance, the Broncos may simply need to go more organic.

As in don’t try to buy so much, but grow it themselves.

  40. rayjr26 says:

ya, its definately starting to look like Moreno may have injury problems. lets hope lendale doesnt have that prob next year. hopefully between the 2 of them we can have some kind of running game.
… so here is my HC pick = ron rivera. OC = rick dennison, DC…NOT WINK! LOL Honestly i dont know who i want at DC, but preferrably someone that has rebuilt a defense at some point in their past! and for the record, i would still prefer Gruden as our HC, but have a feeling he is going to be out of our reach.
    TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW
… this game just made me even more excited for my game this year. i will be at the home closer! sure hope tebow beats the chargers. i know we are all worried about our draft slot, but I JUST CANT STAND THE CHARGERS! ESPECIALLY RIVERS!

  41. baylinorcrush says:

Ray, if we get Rivera for HC as per your wish, I really don’t think it matters that much who we get for DC as long as they run it the way Rivera wants to, just about any yes man would do.

  42. baylinorcrush says:

Rivera could probably bring one of his assistants along.

  43. rayjr26 says:

I read the article on DP today by krieger… not NEARLY as up beat as we all are! rather critical of our new QB actually. from what i gathered, in HIS opinion, pretty much all of Tebow’s completions were just lucky. and he further went on to say that even the dropped TD by ball was really just a bad pass from Tebow. geez…. go write for an oakland paper or something ya negative Nancy!! :)

  44. rayjr26 says:

that works for me bay!! i just think he would do a good job for us!

  45. sndvl says:

I’m still rooting for Nolan as HC. As far as coordinators go, it depends on what scheme were going to run! 3-4, 4-3, 4-6, Tampa 2.
No to Ron Rivera though. At least as the man running the show!

    Defense in 2011

  46. baylinorcrush says:

This is what Raider DT Tommy Kelly had to say about Tebow:

“I like the guy,” Kelly said. “He gets a couple more starts under his belt, he’s definitely going to keep D-coordinators up at night. He’s got a very bright future.”

    He also said:

“He’s a wonderful athlete,” said Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, who was in on the first career sack of Tebow. “And he’s definitely a better athlete than I thought he was. You see him running plays in college and you think, ah, he’s running past 180-pound guys, and you’re thinking, get him up here with the big boys and see what he can do. But he got in there and he was making 230-, 250-pound guys miss.”

    And he would know….

  47. baylinorcrush says:

Krieger has ALWAYS been like that about EVERYTHING, that’s the man’s disposition, a bear of a man, an unhappy fellow, a down on his luck type of attitude dude. It pays to know your writers so you don’t get side tracked one way or another by their way of thinking, at least I don’t.

  48. rayjr26 says:

well i read the broncos articles daily but this was the first time ive noticed him being super negative…. or maybe its just the first time i disagreed! ;)

  49. DenverOranges says:

Tebow Time Baby! Lets get the OC calling more pass plays so we can see this kids arm alot more. Would have been nice to get the W but I dont think Orton would have done any better

  50. sndvl says:

Krieger came over from the RMN if I remember correctly.
