Team-Tim-Thomas-Tastic Win!

January 9th, 2012 - 2:03pm by mark_cooper

It doesn’t get much better than that, does it, you BRONCO-MANIACS? Wow!! 11 seconds into overtime and a 80-yard touchdown strike. Tebow reads the defense and Thomas does the rest. The defense was dominant and the O-line gave Tebow all the time in the world. Way to go fellas!!

Have to tell you a funny story. So all week I’m going back and forth with one of my very best friends who played 12 years with the Steelers and has two Super Bowl rings, Gary Dunn (pictured above). We both played at the “U” and played against each other in the league. He owns a hotel, restaurant/sports bar in the Florida Keys called the OV which stands for Oceanview, in Islamorada. Many of you have heard this name that read this blog.

We talked all week long about a friendly wager and right before the game we decide if the Broncos win, I get a dozen Stone Crab Claws and if we don’t, I have to send him a 32 oz buffalo steak. Game on.

This gets a little longer. Game time, I’m at Valor High School for my 13-year old son’s hoops games and one of our teammates’ parents has a small portable TV set, so we’re on the sidelines seated and standing watching TV/cheering the game on and the kids at the same time and everyone’s laughing and asking what the score is throughout the first quarter and almost to the half. The basketball game ends and we hightail it home and watch the rest with the kids and family and I’m texting back and forth the entire game and laughing about Gary sending me extra mustard sauce and making sure he uses Fed-Ex and on and on, sooooo funny.

So the game ends and I have my son who (by the way) wears a number 7 in all his sports does the Tebow in the living room in front of our fireplace and I text it to Gary and he promptly replies with his own version in front of an outdoor fireplace they have at his hotel/sports bar. I posted it on my Facebook page and everyone chimes in within minutes. I also posted my son’s picture below so check it out for a giggle.

Back to the action: I don’t know about you but all week the backing into the playoff comments and the radio guys’ comments about we don’t belong, were ticking me off and I knew we had a pretty good shot. I talked on 93.7 with Mac and Doog on their show about how I thought we would win this game and you know what takes the cake? All the humble pie being eaten by all the commentators on TV that said it wouldn’t happen.

I do have to give them credit though. I think they are having as much fun as we are in this victory. The O-E-O Teeeeeeeebow chant is hysterical. Gotta love it

GO BRONCOS

You can’t put Moreno on that list of injured Broncos because he was a non-factor even when he was healthy. NoShow Moreno…. Just sayin

  2. BeastFromEast92 says:

We depleted their Dline tho,so we got-r-Done!!!

  3. baylinorcrush says:

    Absolutely!

  4. millerqbkiller says:

you can put moreno in that list because he did do some good things for us mostly the last game or two he played

  5. MarshMelo15 says:

    Moreno is a BUST!

  6. baylinorcrush says:

You move on knowing you made the right decision at the time.

When you own something you can’t look at all the bad possibilities, you just go with what feels right, formulate a plan and go for it and may the fallout be what it is. Taking the approach you are suggesting is just a sure way to stagnate. Imagine what you can do with 28 mil!

  7. millerqbkiller says:

even the play that moreno was injured on was a big gain and was having a big game before he was hurt

  8. baylinorcrush says:

Can’t argue with melo on that one, you are talking to the guy here who disliked that pick since day one.

  9. BeastFromEast92 says:

Did anybody see how big Franklin stepped up in pass coverage, this man is going to be a Beast for a long time,we have a young Oline with a nasty demenor, with Kuper back next year(hopefully)we will be set for years to come,I was mad when we released Harris and drafted Franklin, but it’s paying off,Franklin is a Helluva man,run and pass blocking!!

  10. MarshMelo15 says:

Soooo… That makes like 4 good games in his 3 seasons?

  11. millerqbkiller says:

    whatever man!

  12. Kengro says:

BFE i totally agree with your statement that we need to keep McCoy.

I watched all the playoff games this weekend and one huge thing i noticed yesterday with us was that the broncos seemed to have improved there tackling. Tackling has been an issue for alot of teams including us but it seemed better yesterday IMO.

Also the hit on Decker was totally clean. Harrison still has the ability to hit a reciever to jar the ball loose….he just cant go head hunting. Sucks for Decker but i doubt he is mad at Harrison for that hit.

Im shocked that i havent read much about how the refs almost stole this game from us with the backwards pass fumble/incomplete pass. Pit got a TD on that drive and the fumble happened inside there own 30. That atleast a 10pt swing. Huge mistake by the refs. That killed our momentum just like it did to Detroit in there playoff game. I was fuming mad that the game even went into overtime but i guess the saying is true at least for today. THE BALL NEVER LIES.

  13. baylinorcrush says:

And you know I didn’t care when we released Harris, no clue why they brought him back last week after Kuper went down just to make him inactive for the game… Obviously he is not what they thought he was…

  14. BeastFromEast92 says:

Yeah we could have had Orakpo or Cushing!!!

I didn’t like the pick at the time either, but thought Moreno would be a great RB,boy was I wrong!!!

Anybody know how long his contract is?

  15. MarshMelo15 says:

Just another BAD Decision my MR. McD…. I would love to have Cushing or Orakpo over Moreno any day!!!

  16. baylinorcrush says:

A week ago EVERYBODY wanted to get rid of McCoy at all cost while I never went there, always said most the responsibilities for the bad games were mainly on Tebow’s shoulders but I’m not going to do a in your face like we had here last night to all the Tebow disciples who said coaching is the worst ever, Fox included. Everybody says stupid things and are eventually proven wrong, no need to drag others in the dirt over it.

  17. BeastFromEast92 says:

Harris is only like 26-27 isn’t he?

  18. BeastFromEast92 says:

    maybe 28?

  19. OrangeTsunami says:

Our scouts better be at this LSU/Alabama game, and the rest of the FO better watching… I was in the car earlier, and heard a guy on the radio say that he had 20 of the 22 defensive starters in this game, not only making it to the NFL, but contributing soon…

  20. alex4serg says:

    I call BS:

Before he was injured Knowshon Moreno had 37 Rushing attempts for 179 yards. Good for 4.8 yards per touch. He also had 11 Receptions for 101 yards and 9.2 per reception.

In the KC game where he was injured he started off with 4 touches for 52 yards.

I am still a Moreno fan. He has a lot of bad. But he flashes enough game for me to have patience with him.

  21. millerqbkiller says:

when moreno was healthy he showed flashes of a quick shifty back that is when he is healthy but health has benn an issue.

  22. baylinorcrush says:

Who cares about Moreno now, seriously, he is in re-hab…

  23. BeastFromEast92 says:

I think Fox is a great HC,and he is letting McCoy run the Offense now, something McD didn’t do.

I posted earlier this year that McCoy was learning just like Tebow was,and neede time, just like Tebow needs time!

I think he will turn out to be a good OC.

  24. Kengro says:

Marion Barber did more for us at running back this year than Moreno.

  25. millerqbkiller says:

    thanks alex4serg.
melo you dont think mcdaniels pass happy ass had anything to do with our pour run game with moreno. i do

  26. baylinorcrush says:

Or he’ll turn out a Jaguars HC, haha.

  27. alex4serg says:

Hehe, In the “show me the light in the strangest of places when you look at it rihgt” category goes the following quote, taken out of context.

“…you can’t look at all the bad possibilities, you just go with what feels right, formulate a plan and go for it and may the fallout be what it is.”

    Nice post, Bay.

  28. baylinorcrush says:

    LMAO @ kengro.

  29. BeastFromEast92 says:

Maybe with Fannin being healthy next year, and drafting a RB in a later round,we can lighting the load on MaGahee,Ball ain’t Ballin’….

  30. S.D.Bronco30 says:

bfe, no I did not see that, sad I missed it, had to be pretty darn funny. Did anyone see on NFL network when Deon and Irving were making fun of Big Bens hat in the post game interview. While watching it I was making fun of it then when it cut back to them they laughed at it and and were making comments about it. One said check out tht lid, thats a game winning lid, he thought he was gonna win that game. It was hilarious!!

He looked like he was either going swing dancing or he was out of the late 40′s or 50′s and headed to rob a bank in his 54 hudson and tommy gun. (I know if he was late 40′s he could not have a 54 Hudson, you get the picture though)

  31. baylinorcrush says:

That’s my business background alex, learned a few things over 25 years of doing just that.

  32. HardHitting27 says:

Still not on board with McCoy. The way the game started out with the same old playcalling had me fuming mad.

Once they started to mix it up and do some things I settled down.

As for keeping McCoy, I agree we should for the sake of consitancy, only if he continues to be inventive and mix things up. But if we go back to vanilla, boring, predictable….. I’ll be leading the mob with torches and pitchforks (or just a moving truck) to get him gone.

  33. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Barber,LMAO!

  34. alex4serg says:

I have been borderline neutral to full on negative about McCoy since we hired him. Recently I have been extremely anti-McCoy.

But that offensive game plan for the Steelers was brilliant. So I have to take like three or four steps back on the whole McCoy issue. I just don’t know what to make of him as a coordinator. But I am starting to lean towards hoping he doesn’t get hired away from us now.

  35. BeastFromEast92 says:

    McCoy a HC……..LOL.

  36. BeastFromEast92 says:

Winning a playoff game heals a lot of wounds and cures everything!

  37. baylinorcrush says:

The fact that we are still in the playoffs might make it harder for the Jaguars to wait on interviewing McCoy for HC, coupled that with the fact that now Elway’s hand has been forced in keeping Tebow, maybe the Jags won’t be so quick in wanting McCoy and try to acquire Tebow.

  38. baylinorcrush says:

It’s only the second playoff win since 1998!

  39. BeastFromEast92 says:

Even if we go no farther,it’s been a Helluva ride this year,a Helluva lot better than the McD/Orton tenure, which was the worse dibacle in Denver Broncos history!

  40. baylinorcrush says:

    You mean the McD/Orton manure?

  41. hometeam007 says:

Alright.. why would I even suggest T.O. for the next three games…
    1. He has been there before
    2. He is a good strong wide receiver that knows how to run block ie. Eric Decker replacement.
    3. He is a productive wr
    4. He would be super happy to have another shot at a super bowl.
    5. I can’t imagine locker room drama in Tebow and Dawkin’s locker room.

  42. OrangeTsunami says:

McCoy’s play calling was the best I’ve seen all year, no need to place him in the HOF just yet… We need to see him do it on a more consistent basis… LOL

  43. BeastFromEast92 says:

It’s great to be a Denver Bronco fan!

    ILMSDB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. alex4serg says:

I was sad when we let go of Harris. He was our bookend Tackle along with the rookie Clady back in 2007 under Shanny when our O-line only allowed 11.5 sacks on an ungodly number of pass attempts.

He struggled under McD, but hey. Who didn’t. I think McD is hugely under-rated, but one thing is for certain; he lost the locker-room entirely and the players wanted to lose for him in hopes he would get fired before they did.

  45. baylinorcrush says:

    Let’s call it a truce.

The ones who always said Tebow was the bomb and coaching sucked.

The ones who said Tebow was the problem and the coaching was not the major issue.

Both camps can shut the hell up and be polite with one another, LMAO!

  46. BeastFromEast92 says:

Worse drama locker room in history took place in Tebow/Dawks locker room,McD was there, remember?

T.O. is a cancer,we don’t need him to rub of on any of the players we brought in to be character guys, imo.

  47. baylinorcrush says:

    Harris was purely zone though…

  48. BeastFromEast92 says:

Bay..Totally agree with your 3:43 post, whole heartidly bro!

    Broncos Country reunited!

  49. BeastFromEast92 says:

I like Harris, but when I watched Franklin bulldoze players outta the way yesterday,I was impressed.

  50. Kengro says:

I have been wishy wash with McCoy but i hate that OC and DC dont stay with there teams anymore. Question……y is Pittsburgs always a good defensive team. Because Pittsburg has had the same DC and HC for years. If guys would stay put they could do something really special. But the way HC get fired like there is no tomorrow in the NFL its hard for a great OC or DC to say no to the $$$$. Cant really blame them for that. Guys like D. Lebeau or however its spelled are rare. He is content to be a DC and thats it. McCoy should stay and see if they can be even better offensively next year as the team grows and improves. Still has alot of young players on O who are not in there prime yet.
