Team-Tim-Thomas-Tastic Win!

January 9th, 2012 - 2:03pm by mark_cooper

It doesn’t get much better than that, does it, you BRONCO-MANIACS? Wow!! 11 seconds into overtime and a 80-yard touchdown strike. Tebow reads the defense and Thomas does the rest. The defense was dominant and the O-line gave Tebow all the time in the world. Way to go fellas!!

Have to tell you a funny story. So all week I’m going back and forth with one of my very best friends who played 12 years with the Steelers and has two Super Bowl rings, Gary Dunn (pictured above). We both played at the “U” and played against each other in the league. He owns a hotel, restaurant/sports bar in the Florida Keys called the OV which stands for Oceanview, in Islamorada. Many of you have heard this name that read this blog.

We talked all week long about a friendly wager and right before the game we decide if the Broncos win, I get a dozen Stone Crab Claws and if we don’t, I have to send him a 32 oz buffalo steak. Game on.

This gets a little longer. Game time, I’m at Valor High School for my 13-year old son’s hoops games and one of our teammates’ parents has a small portable TV set, so we’re on the sidelines seated and standing watching TV/cheering the game on and the kids at the same time and everyone’s laughing and asking what the score is throughout the first quarter and almost to the half. The basketball game ends and we hightail it home and watch the rest with the kids and family and I’m texting back and forth the entire game and laughing about Gary sending me extra mustard sauce and making sure he uses Fed-Ex and on and on, sooooo funny.

So the game ends and I have my son who (by the way) wears a number 7 in all his sports does the Tebow in the living room in front of our fireplace and I text it to Gary and he promptly replies with his own version in front of an outdoor fireplace they have at his hotel/sports bar. I posted it on my Facebook page and everyone chimes in within minutes. I also posted my son’s picture below so check it out for a giggle.

Back to the action: I don’t know about you but all week the backing into the playoff comments and the radio guys’ comments about we don’t belong, were ticking me off and I knew we had a pretty good shot. I talked on 93.7 with Mac and Doog on their show about how I thought we would win this game and you know what takes the cake? All the humble pie being eaten by all the commentators on TV that said it wouldn’t happen.

I do have to give them credit though. I think they are having as much fun as we are in this victory. The O-E-O Teeeeeeeebow chant is hysterical. Gotta love it

GO BRONCOS

Away this weekend so no chance to see the game but what a great suprise it was to open the laptop monday morning an see that result.
Bay what do you think of the “glassman” now :-)

  3. S.D.Bronco30 says:

I guess I just saw that bomber mentioned the 50% completion thing, sorry man.

also re-post sorry, darn new blog while I type!

I know lbf, and I agree with that assessment. He does it consistently, but again he is in the growing stages. I don’t think he is all world but i am a Tebow supporter. I do always say he nees to improve his passing game, but people need to give him time and the opportunity. You are right though some just get all excited and don’t always keep a real perspective on things, they forget his flaws. I am a realist I try to see it all!

Nice post Mr Cooper. enjoyed the story and the pictures.

  5. alex4serg says:

BTW,great pic of your son Tebowing, lol.

    T-N-T-BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. seweatherman1 says:

Great article Coop! Enjoy those stone crabs when you get them.

  9. BeastFromEast92 says:

BTW…spot on about Tebow having great pass protection ALL DAY LONG!

  10. S.D.Bronco30 says:

Great blog coop. I love that chant as well, was watching NFL network and laughing at Irving, Sapp and Deon chanting TEEEEEEBOW O-E-O!!!!

  11. alex4serg says:

    Love the pics, Coop.

It’s funny, after the game I found myself Tebowing for the very first time.

I regained my composure and sat back down in my recliner, only to find myself Tebowing again moments later.

    O-E-O TEEEEEEEbow

  12. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Coop I was angry about the backing in thing too … it wasn’t giving to us .. we won games in the season to set us up for the opportunity to make it in win or lose. Sure we got some help but it is what it is. Not the best way to get in but u get in. In the playoffs, Records mean nothing. Its a whole new season … 0-0 one and done. And the team that brings it advances. We brought, We Won, Im estatic.

    Go Broncos.

    Later days, TRB

  13. baylinorcrush says:

London, already addressed all that in my game impressions.

  14. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Irvign has really backed Tebow and I appreciate that … its a lot simpler to go with the popular opinion on Tebow … its another thing to believe and see what others don’t. Im sure they have wanted to laugh him off the set many times just like skip. TRB

  15. BeastFromEast92 says:

SDB30…Did you see Irving riding the miniture rocking horse with Tebow’s name on it,was way funny man, lol.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

Stone crab, yum… only allowed to cut one leg off when harvesting and throwing them back in the water so they can grow a new one hence keeping the food supply forever….

  17. UKBroncos says:

Game finished at 1.20am UK time and I was up at 6am for work, but it was worth every minute!

Next one at 1.30am kick off UK time! Blimey. Least it’s Saturday night!

Amazing ride this season. Simply amazing. Tebow is even mentioned on the BBC Website. He’s crossed the Atlantic like only Montana, Favre and Elway before him! Now there’s some company…

  18. alex4serg says:

Yeah, Irving did a 180 this season about Tebow. I forget which game it was, but before the game he was saying he would be p1ss’d if Tebow were his QB, after the game he just about broke his ankles trying to jump onto the Tebow bandwagon.

Credit too him though, he hasn’t gotten off that little wooden pony since.

  19. BeastFromEast92 says:

I loved watching Dilfer eat crow on NFL Network last night!

  20. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Sorry it was on Sportcenter!

  21. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Bama/LSU in about 4 hours!

  22. alex4serg says:

I think it was that Jets game on NFL network where most of the NFL network crew (esp Irving) did more or less an about face on the whole Tebow issue.

  23. hometeam007 says:

    Thanks for the post Mark.
All my non Bronco friends are sending me pictures of them or their family Tebowing as well.

As much as I love any Broncos attention, even if it is 90% about Teeeeebow- o-e-o; I am eager to remind people that football is more a team sport than most and win the Broncos win….. it is a real team effort. I love me some Broncos…..
Hey maybe we should pull T.O. in for the rest of the playoffs?!!

  24. socalbigbroncofan says:

Just heard the greatest line on a radio show from a bronco fan.
“To mr. anonymous in detroit, ur one and done and we our moving on in the playoffs. And oh yes, he is our quarterback.

  25. BeastFromEast92 says:

Well I started out backing Tebow big time, but in the 3 game losing streak,I jumped off the bandwagon, glad it slowed down,so I could jump back on.
But seriously tho, when he was 6/22 60 yards int, fumble, after the 4 int game against Buffalo,a lot of fans were dishearted, and discouraged,I know I was, hence I lost faith, don’t mean I wasn’t still rooting for the kid, just lost sight of him being the man,but if he can continue playing lights out, like yesterday,he will make believers outta the whole world, but he has to be consistent, can he?
With a full off season, and drafting a good RB,I think he can!

BTW,I hope McCoy stays,TT needs familiarity and consistency, imo.

  26. BeastFromEast92 says:

Glad we got a total team, unlike the 2-14 Colts that fell apart without Manning!
I think this team is coming together,Ayers and Carter turned it up a notch yesterday.

  27. brian_schneider says:

I have a feeling Manning’s day in Indy are over. Isn’t he due a huge roster bonus?

  28. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Yep 28 million,I think.

  29. MarshMelo15 says:

Yeah Manning is due like 28 million in March

  30. baylinorcrush says:

Lou, hate to burst your bubble but just heard Brian Griese on ESPN saying that what surprised him the most about Tebow this week was his accuracy, guess I’m not the only one to see it that way….

  31. baylinorcrush says:

They’ll save the 28 mil and cut him right before then, that’s why Irsay fired the Polians.

  32. BeastFromEast92 says:

Somebody will pick him up for a lot less,is my guess,I don’t see him retiring, and if he is still able to play,Indy is making a huge mistake by letting him go,imo.

  33. MarshMelo15 says:

hometeam007…. Why in the world would you want T.O.?

  34. baylinorcrush says:

BFE, you have 28 mil you are willing to bet on a bad neck?

  35. BeastFromEast92 says:

TO would ruin our locker room with his drama queen antics.

  36. baylinorcrush says:

I mean 28 mil is like getting a top QB in the league for three years, and this is just a bonus….

  37. MarshMelo15 says:

BFE…. Agreed, There is no way I would EVER want T.O in a Broncos uniform.

  38. baylinorcrush says:

I don’t even have to answer that since I didn’t want Marshall, LOL.

  39. since1972 says:

Does anyone know what the scenario is for hosting the Afc championship game if Denver were to win the N.E. game ? Enjoyed the article MR.Cooper.

  40. baylinorcrush says:

None, all the remaining AFC teams have better records than us.

  41. BeastFromEast92 says:

Bay,the man has played his heart out for you,for 11 years, when he gets hurt, you cut him and draft an unproven Rookie QB,kinda dirty don’t you think?

I know this is a business, and you are more of a business man than I am,but I think if the Doctors tell me he can play for 3 or 4 more years, you have to pay him, jomho.

  42. MarshMelo15 says:

Which ever team has the highest seed will host the AFC Championship game. With Broncos being the 4th seed there is no way we host a home game…. At least I’m pretty sure thats how that works

  43. baylinorcrush says:

My dream is we win this one, Houston beats Baltimore and we play the AFC championship in Houston, three hour drive from where I live and I’m there for certain!

  44. baylinorcrush says:

Like you said it’s a business and that’s why the owner shipped the GM out, so he can move on without Manning.

  45. baylinorcrush says:

I mean if you have Luck, it’s a real easy decision, would be for me.

  46. BeastFromEast92 says:

Cincy was #6 seed,Pitt was #5 seed,so we(#4 seed)are the lowest seed left,so no way we host any more playoff games this year!

  47. millerqbkiller says:

i love how everyone picked the steelers to win knowing well before the game they were banged up but still gave denver no chance but we kick there ass and all the sudden the same analysts are now giving little credit to our team and more credit for the win saying we won because of the injurys pitt compiled. with that said denver has a lot of guys banged up as well with kuper,dawk,decker,moreno,ect.. we played a great game and all teams have guys hurt this time of year.

  48. baylinorcrush says:

Pick up the tempo you guys, LOL.

  49. baylinorcrush says:

Steelers were depleted though, entire D line….

  50. BeastFromEast92 says:

    I guess you’re right,but if Manning returns and wins 2 more SBs,with another team,and Luck is a bust(I don’t think he will),what then?
