Royal….Monday Night!! 41-14

September 9th, 2008 - 8:05am by mark_cooper

Eddie Royal, I love you baby!!! Way to initiate the Raider Nation to Broncos Football.

Playing at the Black Hole in Oakland is like going to biker bar on Halloween. Did you see the costumes? Always cracks me up. I liked everything I saw, especially the trash talking and the shoving and even some late hits and a few chop blocks with defensive lineman crying to the referees. That’s rivalry football, semi-clean and hard hitting.

Jay was on fire and looked in mid season form. Brandon will be back next week. The O-line played well and gave Jay a lot of time.

I was a little worried early with the success the Raiders had running the ball but it looked like adjustments were made and we started shutting them down for the remainder of the game for the most part.

I enjoyed the way we spread the ball around to the different receivers and the variety of running game, mixed in. It seemed to have the Raider defense somewhat off guard all night. Great game plan. A lot of mis-direction too.

OH, congrats coach Shanahan, because I know you had to be serious and professional about the WIN………but I know you wanted to smile and laugh and maybe even talk a little trash yourself after pummeling the Raiders. I know you wouldn’t because it’s not the right thing to do….or professional………..but the thought of it is kind of funny!!

I digressed…I’m allowed, I was an O-lineman and that’s part of the the (loose bolt theory) we had, to play the position :o )

Hopefully the Defense was what we can expect to see throughout the year…”Bend don’t Break” and the Raiders didn’t really challenge us vertically, only underneath passes and with a running attack that got shut down. Loved the hit Windborn and Webster put on McFadden early. He needed to come out of the game for a play to gather his marbles.

441 yards of offense was fun to watch. The only question mark I have is the kick coverage teams, but it’s early and hopefully they can gel to create the web coverage or big plays can make or break a game.

P.S. got run out of the Keys by Ike the Hurricane so Wade Boggs and I didn’t get a shot at our rematch.

Bolts up next.

hey coop i think if we can score first in every game we will be hard to beat . lets stop the run sunday and then maybe rivers will try to throw against us i really believe champ and bly will shine. take one game at a time and play hard. mr. royal you are fun to watch. go broncos

man i aint to worried about our d at all, to keep the Raiders to 150 rush yds or so is a good thing, ain’t to many teams can do that, they’ve been a real good running team in the last couple years. i think we looked 1000% better than last year. our d-line was getting pressure, our corners held and our lbs swarmed to the ball. we looked pretty good, our real test will be against the saints, that’ll show what we’re made of….if we can stay effecient and get the ball in the hands of marshall and royal then we’ll be okay. clady is the real deal. keep it guys. go BRONCOS!!!!

broncos need to shut big mouth rivers up this weekend and come out and crack lt in the mouth on the first play of the game.

  4. Professor Broncs says:

The run D did look a lil suspect at first but I think it was because of the zone-blocking that they used with smaller faster line-man ( just like ours ) that we had to adjust to coming from a different team. We have stuffed the run against normal blocking schemes like the one in Dallas so perhaps we will fair a lil bit better against San Diego.

I just listened to the audio on here with Rivers talking and that’s about all he’s good at is talking & talking & talking… yeah it kinda goes like this blah blah blah blah blah… BLAH!!! He said he watched some of the tape of our game and he sounded kind of shocked at how GREAT we were and he should be because we’re going to knock his stupid little trash talking socks off. Oh my, Sunday’s game ought to be twice as funny on our side as it was against Oakland. I think everyone in Broncos Country will be getting the last laugh and I can’t wait to see the look on SHIVERS face. HA HA HA.. ooh I’m good.

Anywho, we had a great game and I just hope we get better & better… that this win doesn’t get the best of us. I can’t wait till Sunday.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!

With Merriman out will the Chargers defense suffer at letdown, or play over their heads? The whole game will revolve around the Chargers D and how they react to his loss.

our first real test was oakland, then chargers we have a very tough first month if we get our first four were gonna go to the playoffs as a shoe in.

    Coop,
I just tried to listen to the various Wednesday videos. as always, the person asking the question was totally inaudible. How about passing along to the Broncos that they need to give a mike to whoever is asking the question so it can be understood by one and all? I find it very frustrating that all we hear is this vague mumbling followed by an answer to a question that ony Shanny has understood. It certainly helps to know what is being responded to.

  9. SportHess says:

I agree, I can never hear the question that is being asked.

  10. Cisco24 says:

I’ll agree to that. You can tell sometimes what the question is by the answer. I love it when Shanny gives a smart ass remark to stupid questions though! haha

I enjoyed that game tremendously. Ya Coop, the O-line played extremely well. Well it might be nothing to worry about but one ting that bothered me at the start of the game was Nate Webster. McFadden ran right over him. Don’t get me wrong, I know he was stopped right there, but I would like to see Nate attack the ball carrier instead of waiting for him. I know he did play well the rest of the game though. What do you think Coop?

    Lance

  11. mark_cooper says:

Cisco, funny you say that about Nate Webster, because I saw it to. I think he was trying to not over run the play and get set into position to deliver a blow but if you remember he was on the dirt part of the field that’s a baseball field and I thought his feet slid a little so he was vulnerable. There’s a saying in football, “Sometimes you’re the hammer and sometimes you’re the nail.” He was the nail :o ( that time. I caught myself giggling when I saw it because I know what was going through his mind. His thoughts were, “man this isn’t going to look good on films tomorrow” guaranteed. You know they’ll run that back and forth a few times because he got run over like a freight train hit him. He did make the tackle and really that’s all that matters, but it was pretty funny.

I remember being in a few positions at times and as it was happening your saying to yourself, Oh #@^&, this going to look bad on film and then there’s other times when you spread someone like peanut butter and you can’t wait till they run that one back and forth a few times. It happens to everyone, believe me, it’s just comes with the territory.

The moderator of this blog will pick up the comments on the videos being tough to hear and I’ll make a call too.

Bolts this week baby, how about the quarterback controversy they are trying to start in the paper with the big spread in the Rocky?? What do you expect and Rivers is playing it down which didn’t surprise me after a last minute loss last week for them. He should if he wants that QB image, but I think it helps fire up the D and little so as far as I’m concerned keep talking and it gives our guys something to say to him after they knock him down.

Who knows, maybe this turns into a rivalry game?

Boss is back and if we can play on D like last week this game may be more fun to watch than last weeks and I agree with GOCUTLER on the Bailey and Bly comment. EMALDO, why do you think the real test in the Saints?

Brandon and Eddie the “real deal” Royal should really be fun to see how they turn out as a duo. You all might start thinking up a name like the three amigos had when we had Vance Johnson, Mark Jackson and Ricky Nattiel. Can anyone remember their numbers (without Googling it).

Also, everyone please say a prayer for Andre Hall and his mother who passed away last week before the game. God Bless her and their family and Andre. Hang in there buddy everyone in Bronco Town is behind you buddy!!
