OK folks, getting geared up and wondering what your thoughts are??
No DC yet but interviews going on and Mora didn’t bite. Any thoughts here? Wonder if guys interviewing are worried about being a DC when John Fox is a defensive-style coach, that they think he may run the defense and they just get a title?? Just thinking out loud. I do that sometimes when I write. My impression is the new DC may not be a named guy as he will work hand in hand with Coach Fox going forward?
I like keeping Mike McCoy as OC. I like what he did the QB’s this year and he has history with Coach Fox and that’s a big part of a OC’s job — being on the same page with the head coach, the QB and knowing what the QB and team can run and NOT run for that matter.
I also like the new O-line coach. Watched some video clips on him and like his style, but we’ll see what the O-line’s feet and hands look like in preseason to really know because it all about foot and hand placement and hips together in double teams and moving the first level to the second level PERIOD — or will he zone block. I’m going to try to meet and talk to him at some point.
Mike McCoy (Offensive Coordinator)
Jeff Rodgers (Special Teams Coordinator)
Clancy Barone to (Tight Ends) from O-line
Adam Gase (Quarterbacks)
Dave Magazu (Offensive Line)
Wayne Nunnely (Defensive Line)
Eric Studesville (Running Backs)
Tyke Tolbert (Wide Receivers)
Real curious on your comments??

GO BRONCOS!!

Coopster, glad we kept McCoy too,Tebow needs some familiar faces to grow with,I hope Magazu impliments the zone blocking scheme, that has been our bread and butter forever seems like. Also glad to see Gase stay.
BTW,I think whoever we get at DC will do fine with Fox’s expertise helping them,a lot of us are wanting Trgovac,Green Bay’s D line coach, for the DC position, think he would make a good DC.
If the Packers win like I think then that makes it hard for us to talk with their D-line coach. So I say we keep an eye on Dennis Allen of the Saints who Payton speaks highly of. John Fox and Sean Payton are real good friends so that helps Allen a little bit. At first I was against looking at Allen but it seems like evey possible DC is either going with other teams or just unavailable for whatever reason.
Allen could be a good fit another a defensive mind like Fox. Who knows!!
Glad they are keeping some/most of the offensive staff, they performed pretty well last year. Obviously we need to run the ball better, most guys here think Magazu can do that, we will see/hope that works out. Glad McCoy is getting a chance to show what he has learned. I think for DC we just need a young guy who want to learn from a master like coach Fox. That’s why he’s here, because of his great defensive mind, who needs Mora? I was also glad Fox pinpointed the good things that were here, his experience will get this team better ,faster. We will be competitve next season. Go Broncos!
Yo Coop,
I think were waiting for a bunch of people from the staffs on the last 4 teams
Coop, glad to see you like the Magazu addition, so do I.
ya i agree imready..im not silly enough to predict playoffs next year but we should DEFINATELY be competitive at least! as for DC… really i dont care who we get.. young/old/4-3/3-4.. just want someone that is willing to work with Coach Fox, learn a little, implement Fox’s system, and most of all bring a little bit of fire, toughness, and respectability to our franchise! we have been too long on the decline defensively. time for a culture change in this one horse town!!
Coop, Glad we got Studs and McCoy back. I was rooting for studs all the way. I`m also glad we picked up Magazu so we can go back to our bread and butter. ZONEBLOCHING! HaHa!!
or zone bogging!
Funny how cold it is here today!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_localchi/20110121/ts_yblog_localchi/deep-freeze-settles-on-chicago
Its even colder than Jay Cutler at a media session!!!
Love to be a fly on the wall with that conversation you plan on having with Magazu!
or zone blogging!!!
i have two big hopes for next year!! because to me intensity and the will to win heavily outweigh pure talent on a winning team.
1st i hope that the move back to 4-3 gives woodyard the chance to be a full time starter at mlb. To me hes a big time tackler and loves to be the guy makin plays
2. We draft Mark Herzlich late in the draft. hes not an elite type player but he has all the makings of a true linebacker in this league.
P.S. i leave for basic training in 2 days but thankfully ill have completed my training in early april. Jus enough time to catch the draft! im super excited for the year !! GO BRONCOS
Good luck domain. You should consider changing your handle!!! lol
wheres your bbot camp?
*boot…..ugh
Game time will be 20 farenheit, a day at the beach.
@ sndvl… LMAO.. i cant spell for crap today apparently! and agree domain… you should def change your handle. the admins will let you change you name if its with a former player so prob a former coach, especially as disasterous a one as McD (kinda a 4 letter word here!), would also count!
Mark Herzlich would be cool in my book. He`s a OVERCOMER! What he indured with cancer treatments and all he went though, Mark Herzlich has my vote. He`d make the team to. He has all heart. What an intense LB he is.
sndvl, it sounds like a Dave Wannstedt’s deal in Buffalo will get done, as FOX reported. But Wannstedt, Bills HC Chan Gailey still finalizing deal now.
Cheers Coop!
I don’t know why Eric Mangini hasn’t come out as a possible DC. That was what he did before being a HC, and did it pretty well I guess to earn a HC job. He doesn’t have it to be HC, but we don’t need him to be. Besides, he knows quite well how to use a 3-4 D, which right know we are more ready for (at least while the transition to 4-3 happens, as it is impossible to fix it in just 1 draft/offseason).
The Chiefs went with Crennell (same, ex DC turned HC and then fired from the browns) and their D was not bad. Mangini has no job, heading to a possible lockout, with his credentials not to high as a HC… so, maybe he can come here for a reasonable price.
Just food for discussion.
Go Broncooos!
With all due respect no thanks to another Belichick tree coaches.
LOL, I knew this was going to come out! And I completely agree with that.
I was just curious about it. Like it or not, he’s a “big name” DC.
I wouldnt be opposed to it whitebronco…altho i am not a fan of people from the belicheck tree, but to me McDaniels was just an unpleasant guy, so my disdain lies with him and him alone. Besides as you said, they seem to be good coordinators and position coaches but horrible DCs….but just so u know…Not gonna happen. While fox says he will evaluate to see which scheme we run, its all semantics and that we will be hybrid as we make transition and blah blah blah, all he has interviewed are 4-3 coaches. The day of 3-4 is done. But like Baylin said, everyone is a Hyrdrid D. The question is just which one is most dominantly used by your D, in our case all things point to 4-3…TRB out…
Coop I wouldn’t mind guys with inexperience coming in for the DC job. Fox will oversee the defense anyway and a guy like Martindale or the 38 DB Coach from New Orleans – as he’s been dubbed haha – can develop quite nicely. In the case of Allen, he’s learning under Sean Payton and Greg Williams – I’d say he’s off to a great start even though he has three years experience. I wonder if Fox and Trgovac have texted each other at all. I know you’re not supposed to contact a coach without the team’s permissionin the NFL, but when two guys who worked together for years both have each other’s cell phone number is it really believable that Fox hasn’t sent him a text saying something like, “Hey, just wanted to know off the record: would you be interested in the DC job if we get permission to interview you?”
that would violate NFL rules and i would like to think that Fox has more intergrity than that! not to mention our organization i think would GREATLY frown uppon that after the whole McDgate!
BBR, the last thing we need is any scandal. Lmao
NO WAY YOU CAN EVEN ATTEMPT TO GO THERE!
Calm down everybody haha. I was just curious how often that happens in the NFL. My guess is more often than we all think. I was in no way endorsing it or suggesting that we SHOULD do that.
Also it says that NFL rules prohibit INTERVIEWING assistant coaches while they’re in the playoffs. You can’t send the team a FORMAL request until after their out. So would asking a coach if he’s interested in interviewing violate those rules? Or informally talking to team for that matter. Please keep in mind everyone this is a football fan musing about the semantics behind some of the NFL regulation. I’m not trying to ruffle any feathers or bring back vivid flashbacks of McSpygate and give everyone heart attacks. I’m sure if what I’m talking about is a violation, Fox isn’t doing any violating. He’s well respected for a lot of reasons, and being rasied by a Navy Seal I’m sure he’s been taught about Honor, Courage and Commitment – the Navy core values.
BBR, maybe their wives know each other and Mrs F has told Mrs T that it is lovely in Denver, why don’t you visit!!!!!!!!
Whilst I am all for all the teams being fully respectful I do think some of the rules are unmanageable and with the current ability to communicate in so many ways it does beggar belief that those who are being targeted, so to speak, know nothing about their options or the teams interested in them.
That’s all I am saying, Crazy. Not that Fox is doing something taboo in the league, but that NFL coaches across the league may have an understanding with each other and that it’s likely that things go on behind the scenes that officials, the media, and fans don’t necessarily see. It’s hard to believe that Mr. T doesn’t have a thermometer on how interested we are in him and equally unlikely that we have absolutely no inkling whether or not he has any interest in becoming a coordinator. How that kind of info gets around I don’t know, but I don’t think Fox would do anything to discredit his fellow coaches and players.
As it is against the rules to contact anyone about a job opening before the league says you can do so, no one wants to hear a thing about anything that goes on between the coaches including between their wifes and I’m all for it, keep all problems at bay with a ten foot pole would be my motto on all those matters, including here, sorry guys. I even went as far as to say the league’s rule about the matter were right down prejudiced, but the rule is what we need to change, whatever goes on with the coaches about it is irrelevant to me, better not get caught if anything does go on is all I’ll say about that.
Lmao @ baylin
Hey Coopster!!!
Looks like we have a nice coaching staff coming together. I like the choices Fox has made so far. Very curious to see who will be our new DC. The drama continues in Denver…. what else is new? lol
GO BRONCOS in 2011!!!!!
Is there no way to get Nolan back? I would love to have him as our DC again. I guess that is out of the question. I believed one of the reasons we failed so miserably was getting rid of Nolan. He knows defense. That is too bad. Nolan for DC is my input.
usc#1, in order to get someone currently on another team you have to offer him a higher title than what he has now, Nolan is DC of the Dolphins now, can’t be ours unless fired by the Dolphins, it’s that simple.
And you can thank McD for that…
Domain, Good luck brother. Kick some butt and have have a great time.
HEY COOP!!!!!!! WHOEVER IS CHOSEN AS DC IM CONFIDENT IT WILL BE THE RIGHT CHOICE WITH THE MAN ELWAY-FOX AND COMPANY IN COMMAND. GO BRONCOES 2011!!!!!!!
DOMAIN!!!!! GOOD LUCK IN THE MILITARY I AM RETIRED NAVY HATS OFF I SALUTE YOU BROTHER….
Larry Coyer for DC! I think he got shafted last time around.
what about singletary
Glad to see you all back…still missing a few though.
I thought you deserted me after my post didn’t stick and it was old news.
Just call me Nostradamaus or whatever that guys name was that predicted everything. Dennis Allen got the DC job. Got both games and points this weekend and have to stay with the Steelers in the Superbowl as a AFC guy, even though I played in the NFC too.
DC pick was kinda like I called it too, so I should run out and buy a few lottery tickets on the way home tonight.
Wha-da-ya-think?
)
Like everything that’s shaping up..no beef from me. Pretty happy guy…who you all picking for the SB. By the way SuperBowl XLV as in 45. Man I’m feeling old after playing in XXI. Not really but it was a while ago. Lots of great memories.
O.K. who’s your picks??
GO BRONCOS
Glad to hear we got Allen. He’ll be a great addeition to a defensive back field that really needs some help. As for the Super Bowl I’ll be going for the Steelers. I’m an AFC guy too. The only exceptions being when the Patriots were trying to go undefeated and when the Raiders got destroid by Gruden and the Bucs. That one was bitter sweet only becuse Denver wasn’t in that game.
As for this season I’m raelly excited for Tim iIhope he gets the starting job. I also hope we can get Champ re-signed ASAP. Come on Elway make that deal happen. I really don’t want to see him go to a pro bowl with another team.
GOOOOOO BRONCOS!!!
