Ram Tough or Bronx Mistakes

November 28th, 2010 - 8:49pm by mark_cooper

It was another tough game to watch. We get out of the gates like a team on a mission and the get shut down for the second and third quarters.

I had to keep watching and it almost happened. Almost!! Dog gone it and few other words… Man, that hurts. There were too many turnovers and at the very end a early snap late didn’t help the affair and the sack. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

The telling fact was simply (1-9 or 11%) success on third downs. Stats, don’t you love em. Guess what our average yards per carry was??

Yep, 6.6 and 119 yards??…And we throw for 330 yards. That’s what gets ya. The stats. Not like we can’t get up and down the field. Now the killer….turnovers. In the NFL, that means disaster.

It’s not like we couldn’t move the ball… it was just inconsistent as always. Even the broadcasters were dogging the team, which was a little weird in that they went back to all the draft picks and the prior offense that we had and the guys that are gone. When the game got close again, they didn’t say a word. I guess everyone’s inconsistent…except us here in blogosphere.

Man, that one hurt but the 3rd downs just killed us.

A few friends texted me from the game and said the crowd was booing the coach and the stands were empty…. That kind of bums me out. If anyone has folks that don’t want to go to the game, have them jump in here on this blog and I know a TON of kids that would love to have the chance to go to the game.

I do a radio gig each Tuesday at 4 pm with Mac and Doog and I’m going to reiterate that because the stands should be full every week in this town and I’m a little upset about that. Wow!!

So, how does Invesco compare to Mile High?

  2. bronco-blaze says:

    Gruden Gruden Gruden…..Tebow Tebow Tebow

  3. baylinorcrush says:

You might have to take Gruden out of your chant since he is interested in the University of Miami Head Coaching job, see bottom of previous page.

I don’t have a lot of time so I’ll keep it short. Josh McDaniels for the love of God must realize we are now over-eliminated from a post-season run. Tim Tebow needs to start now for the experience, along with Thomas and Decker. Orton has 3,300 yards passing and 20 TD’s (6INTS), for all intents and purposes he has put up a full season. The young guys on defense should be starting now too, so we know what we need to do in the draft and have a better understanding of what the team will look like overall, most of the old players should be shipped out, this means the D line and Dawkins, Goodman, etc. Champ Bailey, I want to stay, but it looks unlikely. The best thing to do is start ALL the young guys and see what they can do and how much they improve over a 5 game stretch, again this would give a good evaluation of what exactly needs to be done in the draft, and overall what the team will look like going into the off-season. Josh McDaniels, you’re not going to be around for much longer, at least have the class to do ONE thing right before you go. Tebow…..Gruden, yeah that sounds real nice.

    Bay,

quick question for you my friend. are you up to speed what would happen if in fact there was NO CBA? In terms of the college draft, how would the CBA impact the draft? Would it still take place without signings or would it be post poned until a CBA was reached?

    Just curious

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  6. baylinorcrush says:

Last I heard the draft will be held regardless and they haven’t figured out the contract specifics, they may have to do the signings later, but that way the teams will at least have selected the players.

  7. samurai713 says:

yeah read the Gruden thing…….Bill Cower is unlikely too I’ve heard, so where does that leave us with available coaches?

  8. Broncfalls says:

i must admitt, i’m at a loss for words!

As some may know, I am from Illinois. My family are all Bears fans. For pure enjoyment here are the text messages I received from one family member in sequential order last night: LOL

    1. “Denver trying to pull off the come back huh?”

my response: uh..nope! LOL I LOVE EM’ YES!!! at home too! lose to the rams YES! ** Breaking News ** …and the #1 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Denver Broncos select TIm Tebow’s brother who is in the 8th grade! Denver has stated they have no plans on using him either other to generate revenue by selling his jersey to every middle school in the state of Florida

    2. “I can’t believe how bad they are struggling. Where is the d at?”

my response: It’s in Miami with Nolan

    3. That side of the ball has been killing them

my response: Have you been watching them this year? It’s the other side of the ball too! LOL

    4. The Bears got Johnny Knox with the draft pick u gave us for Cutler too. Not to rub it in of course. LOL Seriously though McDaniels might be in trouble though.

    my response: Yep

    5. They are not used to losing in Denver and they won’t put up with it for long either.

    my response: hope not!

I know I have held my breath on JMac while respecting other opinions. However, I thought it was interesting that a Bears fan looks at our organization and knows something is wrong and is wondering what’s taken so long to fix it!

Interesting and entertaining at the same time!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  9. Orange_Crusher says:

my short list; Tony Dungy, Bill Cower

How about John Elway as GM and Either Dungy or Cower to coach……

    Dream’n Orange Dreams…..

Imagine, Bowlen, Elway, Dungy and Tebow run the Broncos….

    ILMSDB!

  10. rayjr26 says:

gruden is not off the board yet!
GRUDEN GRUDEN GRUDEN….. TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW…..
whats up Blaze… sorry i disappeared yesterday, got myself temporarilly banned from the blogs. . . oops.
Keep on buckin broncos (and fans)
THE BATTLE IS WON IN THE TRENCHES

  11. Broncfalls says:

Thanks for the input Bay! much appreciated!

    samurai713,

You know what I wonder? How good can former players be at coaching? Not necessarily head coaching but positioning. John Lynch? Rod Smith? Mobley? just wondering….

Also, I wonder what impact Elway has on McDaniels. He has said several times that he has his back. That he likes what Josh is selling. Does that resinate with Pat? Probably not…just curious is all. I mean, the guy visited the Broncos and spoke to the team. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  12. rayjr26 says:

@ OC… ive been actually thinking about having elway come back as a coach in some capacity. maybe start him at QB coach for a couple years, then promote him to Offense Coordinator for a few years and finally HC. now THAT would be cool!

  13. sndvl says:

First things first. McD has to go.

  14. Yovi21 says:

Sounds like a Dream to me OC, a very very good dream!
Like I have stated in previous posts, I WANT TEBOW TO START! at the very least get this guys career started! He was a blast to watch in preseason. Even though he was playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers he looked great! If he isn’t starting by the next home game I’ll be even more upset with McD than I already am, and I dont even know if thats possible!

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  15. Orange_Crusher says:

I like Grudens’ credentials but he basically won the SB with a team Dungy built… Albeit against the team he himself built… But after that he kinda ran the Bucks into the cellar and left on a bad note… Soo, I’m not quite sold on Chucky…

Give me Dungy or Cower and you will be giving me INSTANT INTEGRITY and a proven leader who has already earned his respect…

This ship needs an established captain to sail into calmer waters.

I’m tired of sailing the rough seas with gilligan steering the S.S. Minow…lol

    ILMSDB!

  16. bronco-blaze says:

    Its ok rayjr,

Ha happened to me plenty of times..it scares me, thought id never blog here again hahaha.

    TTT—–GGG!!

  17. ORANGEPRIDE24 says:

Well I have been a fan for many years and to see this type of a season take place is very disappointing ! As with alot of things, it has to get worst before it gets better. A new coaching staff is the answer to this problem we face, Tebow is not the answer ! Orton is a solid quarterback, oh and maybe a seasoned runningback would help to fix this mess we got ourself into. Defence needs to coached by someone else. Does anyone remember last year when we were ranked like number 8 or 9 overall in the league ! hmmmmm, we had Mike Nolan, yup I think it was a great Idea to let him leave ! It’s time to react and start fixing this now, not wait until the offseason !!!!!

  18. strandoftds says:

Old Mile High is far better as far as I`m concrned. Invesco seems more spread out as far as the stadium is. Not as loud, not even close. The Mile HIGH mistieqe is gone out the window with the 12th man. The magic is gone in my opinion.

  19. strandoftds says:

Invesco field is a nice and pretty and fancy and a beautiful stadium. Thats all fine and dandy and everything, but where`s the OLD MILE HIGH MISTIEQE? Where`s the 12th man? It`s gone!

  20. luigi303 says:

    wat about chilly for hc?

  21. The Dane says:

what do you guys think about bringing back Ted Sundquist for GM next season if McD is not fired? I don’t know much about him because he started for the Broncos before i was born and was gone before i began following NFL/Broncos

  22. strandoftds says:

Old Mile High used to be like going to a Motorhead concert. Thunderuos. When the fans were in the game it was near impossible for the other team to score. The stadium of old was louder than hell. Northstands, southstands, and everything in between.

  23. rayjr26 says:

ya… all the metal in that place made it insane!! the louder the fans got, and the more feet stomping that went on the more the stadium would start to vibrate!! it would actually hum remember? too cool. never see the likes of that again!
Keep on buckin broncos (and fans)
    TTT-GGG

  24. Orange_Crusher says:

Yes! Orton is SOLID..Orton is soo SOLID that he is almost STATUE like…..hahahahahhahahahah!!!!

  25. stevecan2 says:

it looks like Culter may end up having his FIRST winning season since his senior year in HS. (9-7 in 2006 he stepped in at 7-4). We are 1 of 15 nfl franchises with less than a .500 record. 2 of those teams have fired their HC during this season. The Rams are 5-6 and would not be tied fro 1st place in any other division in the NFL. With Spag as HC this year, and Mike Nolan still on D. (who was also 2-8 the final 10 games last season.) Would it be safe to say, that we would not have the poor turn over ratio or injuries, etc.

  26. beefdirkus says:

I live in MN. I do not think Chilly will be a good fit. MN was more disfunctional than the Broncos. IMO they need to go for a defensive minded coach (although I thought that when Shanny was fired). I think Rivera with SD or Frazier with MN would be good.
But with that being said, I do not think McD will be fired unless the season really unravels. I do not think the Broncos will want to pay for 3 coaches next year.
I just hope they use every draft pick on Defense. Please no more offensive players, the offense is okay. And do not draft someone high like Alfonso Smith and then just let him go.

  27. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Every monday i go to NFL.com to see breaking news Broncos fired Head Coach Josh McDaniels, and every monday so far, I am dissapointed….sigh….

  28. strandoftds says:

Chilly would be far worse. Never in a million years.

  29. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    Beef,

Ron Rivera aint bad. Done alot with the bolts defense. He also has an impressive history as a defensive coach if u look at all the teams he has coached. Would be hilarious to poach a head coach from our hated rivals however lol.

  30. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    strand,

we’ve been 5-16 since the fluke 6-0 start don’t get much worse than that lol.

  31. strandoftds says:

I think Childress`s attitude sucks. His team with the Vikings wanted his head. They hated him.

  32. strandoftds says:

TBR, I hear ya on our 5-16, and Thats uncalled for. I hate the record and there needs to be some changes. But Childress will only continue to make us go backwards. He sucks big time. The Vikings players couldn`t stand the guy. Bad attitude.

  33. Orange_Crusher says:

Dungy and Cower both left teams they built to perfection and took to champoinships… and they left on good terms.

We don’t need a HC (chilly) that was fired on bad terms and couldnt get the job done..

  34. strandoftds says:

OC, Do you think Coach Dungy would come back and coack again? He would be superb. I think Cowher is going to the panthers. From what I hear he bought a house out there a year ago if I can recall. Not sure though.

  35. BeastFromEast92 says:

I like Gruden but he is interested in coaching Miami, and is at the top of the 49ers list.I ain’t saying we can’t get him,but we would have to jump on it NOW,not wait till the season is over,he’ll be taken by then,GURANTEED!!!

  36. BeastFromEast92 says:

strandoftds, yes Cowher lives in Carolina bro!
so he’s probably waiting on that job,and it will be vacant I’d say!

  37. BeastFromEast92 says:

What about Dick LeBeau?….DC for the Steelers.

  38. Orange_Crusher says:

I don’t know if Dungy would ever come back but I couldn’t imagine a better fit for Tebow…. Or a coach better suited to bring stability to a team and fanbase in complete turmoil.

  39. rayjr26 says:

    le beau may be good!!

  40. rebelbronco says:

Grudden, Cowher, and Dungy are all long shots and pipe dreams I’m afraid. I hope they find further evidence that McD viewed the tape, then Bowlen can fire McD and not have to pay him. If that happens (oh please, oh please, oh please) I wouldn’t mind us taking a chance on Harbough’s brother from Stanford.

  41. BeastFromEast92 says:

Tony Dungy would be a great fit!

  42. BeastFromEast92 says:

I think we need a proven NFL coach,we don’t wanna go thru what we are going thru now ever again!!!!!!!!!

  43. strandoftds says:

Ya I thought so BFE. Thanks dude. Wow! LeBeau would be furocious for our D. Just what we need. I`d say he`s primed and ready to be HC. Hell ya!!

  44. strandoftds says:

    OC I agree.

  45. strandoftds says:

I`m curious about something. We have two draft choices in round two. What team is that from? I completely forgot.

  46. Orange_Crusher says:

    Miami, BM

  47. Yovi21 says:

Maybe, but isn’t he old as dirt? haha If we got Dungy I would act like a kid on Christmas morning! I’m assuming that we won’t get him tho, I haven’t heard anything about him even considering a comeback. I bet he could make a great system for Tebow!…well for McD’s sake I hope he doesnt read this blog, I think he might be upset to find all the fans talking about his replacement. With everything said, it would be a shame to sit through another awful season because we dont have the finances to fire him.

  48. strandoftds says:

    Thanks OC.

  49. CurtOU says:

Not sure where you all keep reading that Gruden is interested in Miami. He already said he doesn’t want to go there and has no interest. Just because some idiot writes an article doesn’t mean you have to believe it and repeat it. We definitely could get him in Denver. But Dungy and Cowher will not happen so you can stop dreaming about that.

  50. strandoftds says:

Me too Yovi21. Hey, Christmas is around the corner. After Christmas would be a fine gift. I`m dreaming.
