Did anyone know how to spell the kickers name, because I had to cheat? Nice drive at the end of the game for the win. Tough injuries and like we’ve SAID….hmmmm they keep piling up and they hurt with DJ and Bunkley out for a while. DEPTH kills when you don’t have it. But boy do I like the intensity.

Was all day at a Pee Wee (Faulkner) football tournament and our 12 year olds did well and I’m proud of our Creek Royal team. We took some lumps today as a team and it’s funny/interesting to watch players figure it out and get better. Same in Pee Wee as the Pro’s promise.

Liked the pass pro I saw with the ones and again someone made the comment that it’s only Seattle but one more with Arizona and we have RAIDER WEEK coming. Those of you that have been around know how I dislike preseason. The tempo picks up quite a bit as the regular season opens.

What’s on your minds along the lines of our defense with Doom and Milller???

Baby steps is the key to Pre-season and I saw a number of them. I had a buddy txt me hours before the game that he heard the QB lineup was going to change…..Curious on your take??

Liked the emphasis on the running of the ball and on defense and our ones did a nice job against their ones. Our depth is worrisome but there’s a ton of guys getting cut in a few weeks and then again prior to the final roster I bet we see some pickups and/or a trade. Like I’ve mentioned with the way training camp has changed/restructured there’s some hidden gems in these camps that either aren’t getting reps or may have been dinged early so were slow to start and may help us if we can find a few.

What’s your take on Preseason so far. Late weeks blogs were pretty funny.

Curious what you have to say on the different fronts??

Warren and Thomas, tough day for the D-Line

August 17th, 2011 - 11:30am by mark_cooperOther posts by

This didn’t post the other day as it ended up a draft and wanted your feedback on it and also the new naming of the Stadium. I like Sports Authority and all they do for kids programs around the mtero area and was happy to see a sporting name associated with the Broncos.

Pulled this from ESPN site and heard it around the lunch hour.

Marcus Thomas (strained pectoral) and Ty Warren (torn triceps) won’t be back on the field anytime soon.

On Thomas, the Broncos made the former Patriots star interior lineman the centerpiece of their free agent class by signing him to a two-year, $8 million deal that included a $2.5 million bonus and $1.5 million salary for 2011.

They also re-signed their own free agent defensive tackle, Marcus Thomas, at $1 million for one year.

Both were injured within five minutes of each other when they lined up with the first-team defense during a 9-on-7 drill Monday.

Thomas’ chest muscle wasn’t completely torn off the bone like Elvis Dumervil’s was when he suffered a season-ending injury early in last summer’s training camp. So, the Broncos are hoping he’ll be ready to play by the time their season starts Sept. 12.

Ty Warren is out indefinitely. The Broncos are hoping he won’t need surgery and can return to the field at some point this season, although that would mean going with a 52-man roster for a while.

With the hip from last year and and now the tricep, if it needs surgery might end Ty’s career…not sure and hope not or that would be a tough way to leave the league.

I’m still wondering how much/many injuries we will see this year with the limited contact and reps the new CBA allows???

All QB’s looked good to me.

So will my title start a new QB controversy….nah. I liked what I saw out of everyone and I have to tell the truth, I had my little guys football practice last night till 8pm. Creek Bruins 12year olds (GREAT GROUP) by the way and having a blast teaching them hands, feet, body position, HOLDING :o ) and few other tricks of the trade…SO I missed the first part of the game but caught as much as I could afterwards on NFL Network and switched around for all the highlights and the late news and early shows this morning.

Great comments on the last blog. As you can tell I have a different perspective on things often as a former player. Overall I thought it was a good game for the fellas only being together for such a SHORT time as a new staff and players andhaving such a short camp and the lack of contact that the have these days. HAVE to share a comment that was made during the negotitations that you may not have heard. Someone made the comment, that the owners, “gave the players everything they could possibly want, except for someone to play for them’. Is that funny of what???? I had to laugh BUT I also have to say, it will be interesting when we compare this year versus past years injuries?

I don’t want anyone to get hurt but you have to wonder if guys have had enough contact and the new guys enough reps to be competitive. I think a few guys will get cut that just never had enough of a chance to be seen in action….will be interesting to watch over the next few years.

BACK TO THE GAME..I enjoyed what I saw and thought for the short amount of time together the offense looked ALOT better than I expected. Same with the Defense and we didn’t get to see a lot of the #1′s so I hold those comments a bit.

Pre-season is a tough time to judge a team, both offensively and defensively but it was fun to get cranked up.

Oh yea, on the fishing thing that got out of hand and I never commented on because it wasn’t worth it. I fish Celebrity charity (catch and release tournaments) 80% of the time and I host one September 22-24 in Basalt that have raised $MM of dollars that have impacted lives of folks with Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis..no regrets. The tournaments buy science. It’s a passion of mine since leaving football. A lot of you know that I do them on weekends during the season so I’m late commenting sometimes. So yep still fishing when I’m not doing the family thing/kids football coaching or selling real estate. :o ) I work to fish.

Love to hear your thoughts.

The media can be brutal and I hope Orton learns a lesson and John Elway can be his best teacher. Early in John’s career the media was brutal and still is. He and I were room mates and I know how tough it was. John handled it like a pro. There was even a guy that published the type of candy he gave out at Halloween….seriously. The reporter was an idiot.

Think about it, we’re out here in the wild-wild west, nothing around for hundreds of miles but media bored to death.

Rockies are struggling, Av’s who? and basketballs going to have a tough CBA so, outa site, outa mind, and it’s August, so nothing to do for them but be HOT and create as much controversy as possible to get folks all riled up to call into radio shows and sell newspapers. It’s a game and don’t buy the ticket.

You’ve seen it before. It’s a rerun of years past. Just because McDaniels drafted Tim in the first round doesn’t mean he’s ready to play. Tebow will be ready when he’s ready and I’m a big fan of his as an athlete, but Rodgers sat at Green Bay for 4 years and now look at him. I’m in no hurry to see Tebow play. I saw Vinny Testaverde struggle early in his career due to being thrown to the wolves too early.

We actually have bigger issues than the QB spot. We have an offensive line to get together before the Thursday opener against the Cowboys. Hate to say this but if we don’t get that ready, we may need all three QB’s before the season ends.

The offseason probably hurt us as much if not more than any team in the league, because we could have used the OTA’s as bad as anyone and I also think the limited hitting is going to really hurt the young guys. I can promise you, I needed the contact at this level when I showed up here as much as the rest of the rookies and I played at the “U” where we ran a Pro-Set with Jim Kelly behind me.

So I don’t really care who the QB is, I just want the team to do well and that’s why I’m a homer and pulling for whoever’s in the drivers seat and the O-Line that’s going to be driving the bus.

It all starts upfront!!

P.S. And yes, as many of you know that have been on the blog awhile, my neighbor is all Cowboys so I’ve already started on him about the upcoming game.

GO BRONCOS!!

OK, I know you broncomaniacs have been at it behind the scenes and I stepped out of the blogo-sphere for a while because I was honestly tired of all the speculation. Did the Mac and Doog show a number of times over the past few weeks and was pretty fed up with the finger pointing and who said what stuff…….had enough of that bad press on both sides…….to an attitude of let’s see how all this plays out………………so here we are.

Still don’t have all the details and on how it affects the retired guys like myself as I said, “Show me how the additional benefits will be handled accounting-wise”. So far everything I read sounds good BUT you never really know until you can read it to REALLY know what it says. Outside that, you know what???

I’m really excited that FOOTBALL IS BACK and we’re ON!!!

So tell me your main thoughts on Orten being on the blocks and who you really would like to see as we’ve seen some moves already today with McNabb and others being signed to their current teams?

Love to hear your TAKE?

EX-NFL Guys Grapple with Sails

April 1st, 2011 - 2:08pm by mark_cooperOther posts by

Not much new on the horizon but a lot of wraggling in the lockout talks.

Mentioned I was in Costa Rica with as few X-NFL players a few weeks ago. We had Jake Grove (Virginia Tech-Raiders-Dolphins) who just left the League after and injury with the Dolphins formerly with the Raiders…and the only reason I let him on my boat was he was with the Dolphins last or he’d have had to swim out to catch fish.

Big Dave Rimington of Nebraska, Outland trophy winner and the host of the Rimington Trophy each year given to the top offensive Center in Division 1 NCAA football is the chair and CEO of the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Dave’s staff did a great job putting together this CF (Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser) that raised money for kids in Costa Rica. 17 boat entrys and a absolutely wonderful tournament was held.

Not new but wanted to sit a day or so to think through these and see who else might get let go with Bonus money coming up.. Understand the finance aspects and have seen the Broncos looking at the TE from Notre Dame. But really was curios on your take on these?? Any thoughts.

Also, love the extension for negotiations…hopefully they get something done so our guys get to work together under Coach Fox as much as possible this off-season. Need every day we can get.
