Baby steps is the key to Pre-season and I saw a number of them. I had a buddy txt me hours before the game that he heard the QB lineup was going to change…..Curious on your take??
Liked the emphasis on the running of the ball and on defense and our ones did a nice job against their ones. Our depth is worrisome but there’s a ton of guys getting cut in a few weeks and then again prior to the final roster I bet we see some pickups and/or a trade. Like I’ve mentioned with the way training camp has changed/restructured there’s some hidden gems in these camps that either aren’t getting reps or may have been dinged early so were slow to start and may help us if we can find a few.
What’s your take on Preseason so far. Late weeks blogs were pretty funny.
Curious what you have to say on the different fronts??
Coopster
Go Broncos
P.S. Like the new name with a local company that does so much for youth sports!!! Nice job Sports Authority.

So, you’re good lover? LOL.
Guys, I do want my Broncos to succeed but I`m a Tim Tebow fan also. Thats not a bad thing.
He sure does and he is also the first one here who ever mentioned the possibility that Tebow may be traded? Like a month ago.
Thanks royalbroncofan1, I try and add a little humor in my comments.
You know what I really liked was McGahee punching it in down at the goaline. That’s what I’m talking about! All aboard the K & W express…next stop paydirt.
The highlights only showed McGahee, how did Moreno do?
Man you gotta read the blog, Moreno did well, real well in fact mainly receiving though.
I can move on for now and enjoy the season but I get upset when you`ve said in the past that Tim should just be traded. All in all I want our Denver Broncos to win no matter who is playing. Just as long as they are ALL PROGRESSING ON AND OFF THE FIELD!!
You can find my game evaluation two pages back on this blog August 21st 4:19pm if you care.
I love Italian women too. LOL
I don’t think I’ve seen such a heated debate on who our BACKUP QB should be! LOL
Killerkod, rather funny isn`t it?! LOL
The one thing that will help and balance Kyle Orton is the running game. That`ll be huge for Kyles success. The one thing that scares me still is inside the redzone. If we punch it in on the ground we`ll be fine but Orton is average when he`s inside the 10 yardline or even the goaline for that matter, still a concern.
Sure would like to see another big back to help us punch it in. Didn’t Coach Fox utilize his FB’s in goal line situations? Maybe Larsen gets to crack a few in this year.
Hopefully with the improved defense and running game Orton will have better confidence in the team that he’ll take some more shots at the endzone knowing we have a defense to help back him up.
But with the new rule Tebow will be able to come in for those situations if Fox so desires.
Brian, that could be the case. If Orton is throwing darts on the money then we`ll be alright.
Beautiful italian women… Sophia Loren, Sylvia Koscina, Corinne Clery… strike the last one , Clery was French LOL!
Yeah, Larsen was in with the ones for those goal line situations and Sylvester the rest of the game. We are using FBs again, and TEs, amazing!
Yeah, Tebow is down right scary for defenses in those situations, heck yeah.
Fox uses his FB to help create the holes for the backs to get it in, conventional I know but it worked well so far.
Tebow kind of provides a “triple threat.” He could hand it off, run it himself, or throw it, similar to what we saw last season down near the goaline.
we just might be a little better than I anticipated in the offseason. Not saying we`re going to the playoffs but that we are going to be pretty darn good. If our D gets better through the season we might make a good splash and open some eyes.
It would great if Tebow can contribute in red zone or possible packages.
I’m starting to get some feeling back after being so numb last season.
Royal, are we related? LOL
This is embarrassing to admit but Quinn has surprised me this year and really proved himself. I`m glad he`s getting better. It goes to show how bad Cleveland was all around in Quinns days there, they sucked bad and it wasn`t just Quinn. Bazzarre to say that I`m liking what I see in him. LOL
trade all three and get rid of the the huge salaries and start over, keep weber sign delhomme for learning weber and start there if it doesn’t work this year then get the qb that they want and start over because that is what will happen anyways with a what we got might as well see what weber is made out of… orton will be orton when it comes to defenses who can actually defend not the cowgirls or bills defense anybody can look good against them just as the chargers showed and tebow will never be given a chance so just time to let him move on to somewhere he will be mentored and wanted…I am not mad just think it is about time to get rid of the rotten spot of the team
Ohh and the moore hit was sweet, I thought it was clean, but I guess it is about time to put on a flag start calling it nffl(National Flag Football League)….
strand- we just might be LOL.
With our ability to punch it in, I think our red zone, and Orton’s play in the red zone will increase dramatically. It’s all about the options, and last season, every D knew exactly what was gonna happen when we got a sniff of the goal line and defended it. I think it will be much different this season.
And I think we should all rally together and demand all squib kicks for kick-offs!!!
LMAO @ Timmah!
Yeah, great plan there bud! I’m sure EFX would be all over that……..Putting us backwards even further…..
Thanks for the chuckle…….
Actually I’ve got some French in me strand, as I referred to Clery who was a beautiful French actress back in the day. LOL.
killerkod – during Chargers/Cowboys last evening, they mentioned the only reason they haven’t decided to spot the ball at the 20 yd line is “only due” to the option of the onside kick.
Me too but little. I`m mostly Irish, Italian, and Norwegian.
With Timmahs idea, we`d instantly be in the makings for the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.
Yes we have a lot of money invested in our quaterbacks but we are getting our moneys’ worth.and we don’t save much by trading, we’ve already paid them a large portion, also the future is unknown, last year we thought BQ looked like Bambi now not so much, more like if KJyle gets injured we could still win.Go Broncos!!
Don`t be to sure that Quinn is the backup to Kyle Orton. We still have two more preseason games and anything can happen. Tebow could be in at 2 nd team this next game to get a good shot at whats really going on in the minds of EFX. Lets not jump to conclusions.
Quiin could even be traded, we do not know. I doubt it though, Brady is looking fine and pretty sharp in both games he played. Good for him.
I am glad I could make somebody laugh.. HEHE it was just a thought and idea..
Yeah – Moreno definitely looks quicker and stronger than in years past.
He made some nice moves to avoid first tackler. Also made a nice run following his blockers to left side behind Clady and Beadles.
I agree……….Moreno has looked better so far this year. Let’s just hope he can stay healthy. He just might change my attitude towards him yet…..
I think he will be most effective in some well designed draw plays and swing passes………….let him get some open field and he’ll be gone.
Running between the tackles is still not his strong suit…………but that’s why we have McGahee!
Bill Williamson at espn has this to say about Quinn.
“Brady Quinn deserves credit in Denver”
Buried in the nosedive of Tim Tebow, is the revival of a former first-round pick.
QuinnThe Denver Broncos didn’t make Brady Quinn the backup to Kyle Orton just because they don’t think Tebow is ready for to be a backup.
Quinn is currently the backup because he is playing better than Tebow. Quinn is not ready to compete with Orton, but he has a chance to salvage his career.
Quinn was the No. 3 quarterback in Denver last year and Tebow was the backup. Quinn was brought over from Cleveland in a trade in March of 2010 that featured running back Peyton Hillis. We all know how that deal has turned out.
But, again, give credit to Quinn, a former starter in Cleveland, to committing to improve his game. Many folks in Denver think he has made great strides this summer.
He has looked solid in the preseason. He completed 10 of 16 passes for 130 yards on Saturday against the Bills. He looks like a competent NFL backup.
Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. studied Quinn’s play Saturday night and he thought Quinn made strides. He looked at the way Quinn has improved in getting rid of the ball faster. Williamson isn’t ready to say Quinn is ready to be a star, but there are improvements and he can see why he is ahead of Tebow.
“Overall, I would say that he is an improved quarterback from his days in Cleveland,” Williamson said. “I didn’t see any wow throws though. He looks like a promising No. 2 quarterback without a lot of starter potential.”
The offense is making good progress – though still hit and miss a bit in the running game. Orton and the receiving corps look great and the backs were turning swings and screens into solid yards. I’m truly loving where the defense is going – playing loose and getting after people. I haven’t seen this much excitement from our defense since at least the first few games of 2009 – or maybe even more like the Super Bowl years. It’s great how the young guys have jumped in and played hard. I felt bad for Rahim Moore – he was flying around from the get-go and I thought the hit that he got flagged for was borderline at best. Von Miller is going to be an absolute stud, barring injury. He’s still figuring things out in coverage and run fits sometimes, but his burst off the line in the pass rush is flat-out scary. I pity any offense that gets into a lot of 3rd and longs against our D – DA turns Von, Elvis and who knows who else loose and they go after the QB like a pack of hungry wolves. QB’s who get hit = bad decisions = more turnovers = more wins – I’m drooling already.
As far as the QB situation is concerned – I know that the press is making this huge deal out of it, but I really think everyone’s getting too excited over nothing. With Orton having the starting job locked down, I think it makes a ton of sense that they give Quinn a shot with the second team – you can’t say it’s a competition if you always give one guy the more talented group of teammates. This way, you get a chance to make a fair assessment and Fox looks like a man of his word in the locker room. Another plus is the fact that teams can see that Quinn still can play, which would increase his value to a team that needs another QB due to injury or something down the road. Besides, it doesn’t really matter in the short term what they do with Tebow as long as it involves parking his butt on the bench and learning for another year, maybe two. For example, Aaron Rodgers didn’t exactly set the world on fire in college and Alex Smith was the #1 pick. Smith played right away and Rodgers sat for 3 years behind Favre. Look at them now and tell me it wouldn’t have been better for Smith to hold a clipboard for at least a year or two. Think Rivers would have been as good in SD if he hadn’t sat behind Brees for a while? Think of all of the recent “busts” like Carr & Harrington, etc. Think they might have done better if they hadn’t been thrown in the fire when they weren’t ready? I love Tebow’s attitude and leadership and could care less about his mechanics (Rivers has one of the ugliest throwing motions I’ve ever seen – doesn’t seem to keep him from being productive). However, for now I’d love to see him take notes for another year (maybe two, if they can extend Orton’s contract).
Oh, and btw, I just checked the depth chart and the order of the QB’s hasn’t changed since before the first preseason game…
Yeah, we need a new depth chart.
…of course, nothing else has, either, as far as I can tell. Heck, LenDale White is still listed with the RB’s.
Ya, I just browsed through it just now. Like Lendale White is still on there along with Mark Dell, old news.
Still, I don’t think they’ll change the QB’s the rest of the year unless Orton gets hurt and they’ve got to make a decision on who to play. Barring that, our QB situations will probably look like:
1 – Orton
2a – Tebow
2b – Quinn
practice squad – Weber
Change the order of the 2′s if you like – I don’t think it really matters.
I`d put Weber on the practice sqaud.
Be careful, when Clayton said that about the back ups sharing the #2 spot some folks here screamed murder, wasn’t it you strand. LOL.
Yeah, that was me, MURDER!!! LOL
If Orton does go down, it will matter.
Unless of course the season is lost.
