I don’t know if you guys agree but Peyton Manning could be the best I’ve ever seen. There’s a lot of talk about Favre and without a doubt he’s a Hall of Fame QB, no questions asked. But Manning absolutely, hands down, could be the best ever.
I’ve played with Elway, Kelly, Testaverde, Deberg and even Montana in the flag game a few years back and others and still think John was the best of that era, but Manning unharnessed like he is is in a whole different league.
If John would have been in a different system early on, no telling the records he would hold. Our system at the time was the old Dallas system of “three yards and a cloud of dust” and throw when we need to and be conservative about it.
Back to the game. I liked what I saw and I think we are making progress but we have still have a long way to go on defense. It was interesting how Manning picked on our linebackers versus our corners on many of the passing plays.
Offense is getting there and with a little more consistency and red zone activity we may get where we need to be in keeping the other team’s offense off the field and help our defense until they improve.
How’d you folks like the papers today, trying to start controversy between Cutler and Shanahan? That’s just not right. Hopefully we can get Javon back and if Travis can’t go I like Selvin Young at running back.
I think we take the Chargers next week. What do you think?
Go Broncos!!

I like the blog Coop!!!!! I think that to many people are quick to but our Broncos under the bus….. I know we are struggling to gel as a team on both sides of the ball…. I just think it will take time to get everyone on the same page… But when we do watch out…… I think we have great players that can make plays and I just hope we will get things together by the time the playoffs start if not I’m a firm believer that there is always next year and what happens this year can only make us stronger as a team next year……. GO BRONCOS!!!!!
Mark, I think you’re right that the offense is showing some positive signs, but unless Denver’s defense can figure out some way to stop the run (the most basic thing to do on defense) they will not be able to claw their way out of the hole they’re digging. After what I’ve seen these first four weeks, I’m personally petrified thinking about what LT is going to do to the Broncos defense.
ESTOY MUY MOLESTO POR LAS DERROTAS DE LOS BRONCOS , LA DEFENSIVA FUE PUESTA EN SU REALIDAD Y NO ES MUY BUENA COMO DICEN, TIENE NOVATOS SIN EXPERIENCIA Y TIENE JUGADORES MUY VETERANOS , NO HAY UN BALANCE OPTIMO. LA LINEA OFENSIVA ES MUY LIGERA (PARA LOS 90s ERAN BUENAS) PERO PARA ESTOS TIEMPOS SE NECESITAN TAKLES OFF. Y GUARDIAS DE 330 LBS O MAS . OFENSIVAMENTE NO VAN A LLEGAR MUY LEJOS. PLUMMER(NO ENTIENDO POR QUE LO CAMBIO) ES MEJOR QUE CUTLER . CON CUTLER LES VA A PASAR LO MISMO QUE CON GRIESE. TEMPORADAS DE 6-10 , 8-8 , 7-9 Y TEMPORADAS PERDEDORAS , LO VAN A TENER QUE CAMBIAR TARDE O TEMPRANO. AYUDEN A DENVER USTEDES QUE PUEDEN PRESIONAR .COLOQUEN A RAMSEY SI QUIEREN TENER UNA TEMPORADA
VICTORIOSA. ESPEREMOS QUE GANEN A LOS SANDIEGO CHARGERS EL PROXIMO DOMINGO.
We had our chances against the Colts, and while the loss still hurts (a call from a friend who’s a Colts fan didn’t make things any easier), from the objective perspective it’s easy to see the Broncos turning things around against the ‘Bolts. I don’t think it’s far-fetched that this team can be 11-5. It’s ludicrous to suggest that the Broncos won’t fold after this. All will be well and we’ll get a second shot at Indianapolis.
In the 4th quarter, manning audibled specifically when he saw bailey creep up a bit, then threw the ball right over the top of him for a huge gain.
That’s impressive. Period.
The offense is definately getting better and hopefully the defense can step up but the fact that matters most is that our special teams is terrible. I don’t know if it’s the players or the strategy but they are absolutely awful. To be honest I am happy just to get to the 20 on returns and on defense it is good for the other team to start before the 40. The game has 3 phases and unless we figure something out in the special teams department we are going to have a rough time in the playoffs. If we make it in?
What’s up Mark…
Manning may end up being the best QB to play the game. He controls the game like no other and he’s been a Bronco killer for a long time.
That being said, we need a couple things. Please can we figure out a way to stop the run? In my opinion, it comes down to heart. Looking at the guys next to you and saying, “We’re not going to get beat.”
There’s no intensity and it’s very disappointing. We watch football because it’s strategy vs. chaotic violence. That sounds strong but it’s true. You can’t be soft and still play this game. It just seems like there’s no intensity out there. There’s no will. There’s no pride. Am I being too judgmental?
It’s not like teams are coming up with these elaborate strategies to beat the Broncos. It’s a basic, pound it up the middle, football. There’s nothing more demoralizing to a defense than to just run it straight at em, over and over again.
Hey Coop,
I think the bad press on the broncos is really overated right now, I for sure thought we slipped up on the jax game but right now early on in the season with a very young QB and a new defensive scheme we are not up to level of play it`s going to take to beat Manning and the Colts in the dome. I do like how we looked running the ball and how bout that O line with Pears, Myers and Holland coming along nice. I still like our chances this years as long as we can find our groove and come on strong late as opposed to the vice versa years we have had of late.
What do think about my comments Coop?
Mark you rock!
My Spanish friend, Bronco fan, Cutler is heads and tails above Griese with pure talent alone and I think we’ll bring it to the Chargers this week. Like many of you, I agree we have a lot of work to do and we made some temporary changes last week to confuse Manning (not sure possible) because he made the adjustments. That’s why my comment was he could be the ALL-TIME best any of us have ever seen to-date, a la thundersrevenge’s comment. Yep, got him on that pass play.
Izaiahmj, some special teams moves we’re made this week so that will keep things interesting and like the players said that part of the game HAS to pickup to have success in all three areas. Myjeko and Spikerman, I like what I see in the O-line work, we’ve had Myers fill in and a few guys nicked a bit, but that’s going to happen. They’re coming together nicely.
Want to hear something interesting?? I’ve know Chris Meyers mother since Junior High School in Miami and his Grandfather was an NFL referee. I use to walk up to his Grandfather before a game, when he was referreeing our game and tell him we need some ole “hometown calls today” and he’d laugh and say. “Coop get outta here before I throw a flag on you before the game starts!!!” Funny stuff!
Yardo…..ease up baby, come on man, you’re losing it just a little. You know, you can’t get to this level without heart, intensity, etc. This is the BIGS baby, but you’re right about the need to D-up. In the 80′s if we could pound it down the D’s throat, we’d tell Gibbs, Shanahan and Reeves let’s keep pounding these guys and we would (and that was fun) so unfortunately it’s happening to us and until we stop it, we’ll see a lot more of it.
Utah#1broncofan, like you, I read the papers to see who’s writing to tell a story and who’s writing to sell newspapers, we’ll be O.K. it’s a long season.
Bradjamesbroncofan, 11-5…..hummmmm, I have to think about that one right now.
mlordodu, thanks, you all do too!! San Diego Super Chargers this week. Brings back some memories. In the 80′s they seemed to match up with us pretty well and it was always a great game with Fouts and the core of receivers he had and then their defense with Louie Kelcher, Dean and Billy Ray Smith, always seem to give us problems.
Funny Story: I won’t say the players name but during one of our San Diego games they had a guy from my college and all he did is run his mouth and talk smack even when he was getting up off his back. So it’s late in game and we drive down and score and are kicking the extra point to win with no time left and there’s a timeout or something and he’s still talking smack. So we’re lining up for the PAT and I lean out past the line of scrimmage and yell down to the end of the line, Hey, &%$* when are you going to finally shut that big trap of yours up??…..and everyone including his own teammates started laughing. Needless to say we kicked the extra point and won and he shut up.

Go Broncos!!!!!!!!!
