Mr. Cooper,

Thanks for the fishing report but sorry for the cold front. It seems like every place from Denver to the west coast got your sun shine. Good luck to your team on Sunday.

The KC game should be intriguing to say the least. I'll be interested to see what changes the Broncos have made over the coarse of their bye week. At this point in the season the game almost seems to be an academic study of how a young team handles adversity. More than anything else it will be good to see the Broncos take the field again. Here in San Diego, all I have been hearing about is how the Chargers are going to beat the Broncos next week then climb to the top of the AFC West. I find myself wishing for heavy solar activity when this happens!

On a side note; rumors are starting to crop up that there is a new legitimate organization that has put together a proposal for a "Sports Complex" in L.A. that may be designed to house at least one NFL team and that team is more than likely going to be the Chargers. Do you have any feeling about the need for an NFL team in L.A.?

Dominate their will to compete!

Good stuff as always and good jokes and yep, I got the same e-mail and that was funny. I turned the Broncos part to Cowboys and sent it down the street to my neighbor.

Fishing was as tough (cold front) as I've seen in 20 years at the Redbone Tournament in Islamorada. 20+ winds. Day 1, 26 out of 36 boats came back with a goose egg, nadda, zilch, skunked, etc. You get my point. Day 2 was worse and that's 2 anglers per boat in this Redfish and bonefish tournament. Did bring home honors in Celbrity division and Team Grand Champions with my partner Tony Ortega a buddy from Miami. We caught over 50+ redfish day 1 but all came in under the 18 inch rule, except 1. Day 2 we caught 3 bones on bait. Talk about tough and it was warmer here than there....BUT being on the water is great therapy and the radio show was fun too.

archangel77, there's no such thing as saving yourself at that level or you get hurt or cut and are sitting at home wondering what happened.

Greatness007, interesting interview, I missed that one. Where is that so it can be read by all of us?

Crazyhorserider, you have to give a head coach 4 years whether you like him or not to see how he molds a team or not...by year 3.5 you have a good idea. Rebuilding...period right now.

BeastFromEast92, I know, I know but rebuilding is tough on everyone especially the fans........was cold.

I agree with a bunch of you on we didn't (L) one this weekend...now that was funny...hadn't looked at it like that?

BIG KC week and my little 11-12 year old Creek Blue (AYL's youth team) is undefeated and headed to the Superbowl this weekend so I may miss some of the KC game and I KNOW I can count on you guys to fill me in RIGHT? We play at Regis Sunday at 12:15 Kickoff.

Mr. Cooper,

I hope the fishing in the sunshine state went as fantastically as I think it would. Shallow, big water means big fish! Some of my family lives in Florida and have talked about the amazing heat this year. How has it affected the fishing down there? I'm sure the event was a great mental break from the Mile High Melodrama that continues to hang over Denver and the corresponding sports air waves. I have another question and I'm sure you have another answer. The season may have a mile high miracle left in it however it is always better to plan for the worst and hope for the best. That being said; as a coach and as a player, what do you do with the remainder of a season that has you at 2 wins after being 9 games in. Do you make whole sale changes and get younger players time on the field to get them experience as well as getting extra time to evaluate them? As a player, and yes I remember, a gladiator, do you ever take the mind set of saving yourself even if its in the most minor extreme, for the next season. The question of where the Broncos are going to go for the remainder of the season has been beat to death and I feel that even Josh McDaniel's isn't completely sure what to do. As you have been very clear in your message; this is a young team in the front office, team administration, and overall personnel, I will listen to your counsel and be patient however having a more concise set of ideas to chew on can only help my personal debate of what I think will happen. Thanks again and warm sun and smooth water to you!

Let me share with you a interview we conducted with Joe Ellis that’s on Espn.com and Fanhouse right now. I told you I go to the horses mouth not talk radio!! Like I said everything goes through Pat!!!

Not sure what’s worse for the coach of a sinking team — getting a vote of confidence from team brass or not getting one.

In the case of Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, a vote of confidence was noticeably lacking in comments made by Joe Ellis, the team’s chief operating officer, to the Denver Post.

Ellis spoke to the Post in the midst of the Broncos’ bye week on behalf of owner Pat Bowlen. Ellis said Bowlen is in good health but is stepping back a bit from the spotlight.

Ellis told the Post that while Bowlen retains confidence in McDaniels’ coaching and in his ability to turn the season around, he stopped short of guaranteeing McDaniels would be back for a third season as the team’s coach.

The team has lost four in a row, including a 59-14 loss to the AFC West rival Raiders in its most recent game at Invesco Field at Mile High two weeks ago. The Broncos went into their bye at 2-6 and in last place in the AFC West following a 24-16 loss to the 49ers in London.

McDaniels apologized to Bowlen and Broncos fans in general after the lopsided loss to the Raiders but that’s done little to stem the wave of talk-show criticism, much of it aimed squarely at McDaniels for his oversight of the team.

“We’ve had a culture of winning here under Pat Bowlen for 27 years,” Ellis told the Post. “When that started to slide (under Mike Shanahan) there were expectations that when we brought in the new head coach that would change immediately. When that didn’t happen as fast as our fans wanted it to — we all wanted it to happen quickly — there was a lot of angst among our fans.

“Then you take into account the start we’ve had this year, with the type of loss we had with the Oakland game at home, and the fans’ emotions and feelings are understandably raw in terms of their anger and disappointment. Pat understands that. Josh understands that.”

Ellis said team management wants to see a turnaround as much as anyone and understands that’s the best way, if not the only way, to win back the faith of the fans.

“Because of the way that game went, we made our apologies, we told everybody how embarrassed we were through our head coach and players,” Ellis said. “But those words right now ring hollow. The only way you can win back the fans’ trust is to earn it on the field by coaching better, playing better and performing better and winning.”

Coop - I hope you have had a great time with the fishing, just wish I was at the Keys.

Thanks for your wisdom and extolling the virtue of patience, but I don't have to tell you that sports fans are not patient, so it would help if you could give us an idea of how long you think it will take this team to develop.

Have we got the best HC for the job or should we change him? What do you think of McDaniels.

When should we start using Tebow, and do you think he will make it?

Obviously, facts aren't your strong point.

"we win the rest of the divisional games we win the division were 2 games back ppl are acting as if its impossible 2 win"

We are 2-6. Do you understand? 5 div wins + 2 wins = 7. 7-9 is not going to win this division. The Chiefs are already 5-2. Oh, perhaps what you really meant is that the Broncos will win every remaining game to go 10-6. If you really believe that, your grip on reality is very tenuous. This team is in total disarray and look like crap on the field. There is no magic fix that is suddenly going to have them ripping off 8 wins in a row.

You want to cling to false hope, fine, go ahead... but it's you who are going to eat your words when the Broncos pick up that dreaded seventh loss soon after the bye.

I understand the growing pains. Pain is also a good description of watching it! I digress.... I actually like the potential of our young O-line. I'm optimistic the communication will improve and the missed assignments will disappear.

We definitely need an infusion of youth in the front 3 though. I suppose a pass rush would help in the TOP department (missing Elvis), and thus aid in not being so worn down in the 4th quarter. Either way this team really needs some added depth in the front 3. This team is a completely different ball-club when Vickerson goes down. We really only have one viable 3rd man in the DE rotation, and that's Marcus Thomas, who has played very well, but has had limited snaps at RDE.

Anyway, my ramblings don't help anyone. Good article Coop-
