Well some of you called it and some of you expected it and the Jags brought it.
The run defense showed some signs of hopefully what’s to come. Some downs they were all over the run with big stops at or near the line of scrimmage and on others … Well, let’s say we left some holes that a truck could drive through.
Consistency is something that takes time but the next four weeks are here and will be a big telltale sign for the season. Hopefully we can improve on the run and get through these next four games with two or three wins.
Brandon Marshall kept you on the edge of your seat after each catch, that’s for sure! Boy, is he fun to watch. But we’ll have to do a much better job of getting drives going and sustaining them to keep opposing offenses off the field over the next four weeks.
Manning, L.T and the Chargers, the Steelers and Favre are a BIG-BIG four weeks. So let’s get fired up and behind the fellas and hopefully we get a bunch out of the films and start pulling it all together. Right?

as indi proved last year, there is something to be said for the psyche of a football team as they approach a game. even though the broncos got it laid to ‘em in the jaguar game, one can’t help but think of how sorry the colts’ defense was heading into the playoffs last year. but when it came down to crunch time, particularly in the super bowl, the defense for the colts was what kept them alive in the shadow of a so-so performance by manning. so yah… i guess we could get p-off, and run rampant with gesticulations of “they stink!” but what fun is that? the truth is, we watch because we love… and if you don’t bring a little hope to the table… well just crawl back into your hole and mutter “life stinks…”
alright then… go broncos!
I dont really want to think about what happend on Sunday and I don’t think that there will be a repeat performance. But to look on the bright side we were still in the game until the last 3 minutes of the game and that gives me a lot of hope. For how flat the defense played, they still only gave up 23 points, but got thrown on inside our 20 twice. Not too bad, but still lots of work to do.
As poorly as the Broncos played at times against the Jags, they still had a chance to win in the 4th Quarter, and in my opinion, Daniel Graham was robbed on his “drop” on that fateful 4th-down play. Nevertheless, this was kind of a wakeup call and we’re going to bring it to the Colts this Sunday. I think we’re completely capable of going into the RCA Dome and obtaining a huge victory, but the defense must be better and the offense must be more consistent.
I would like to say one thing, If we dont come into these games not being able to run the ball with travis, why dont we try doing it with someone else?

I think you know the term punched in the mouth and I think thats where they lost the game, the Jags won on both lines. Game’s are won in the trenches sounds cliche but true. Also Dj is not the hitter we need at the MLB position.
Go Broncos!
I said it before & will say it again. Consistency !! This team is still not being consistent in anything they do. Just like Bronco teams of the past 3-5 years. Sometimes we run well, sometimes we can’t run at all. Sometimes we pass well, sometimes we can’t pass at all. It seems we cannot make an important 3rd down and cannot stop the other team from making an important 3rd down !! Same goes for the defense. Also, what the heck was Champ doing on the sidelines when the jagoffs scored on a pass play in the red zone ? Are you telling me that just because Lynce was hurt, our defense fell apart ? I don’t think so. The scheme is not a good one. Heck, Sam Adams is so fat when he “runs” he waddles like big fat duck. As far as the “gap” responsibilities are concerned, what the heck did they go over in the OTA’s, mini camps & training camp ? I think D.J. is capable, I think they guys in front of him are letting the offensive linemen get to him too much. Again, consistency, the big problem. We better get it together against the next four teams or you can kiss this season goodbye by week 7. Let Go Broncos, get it together !!
The writers in your town call Jacksonville names like Hooterville! Well how do you like Hooterville now! The jags stroll over and punched the Broncos in the mouth. We wooped you on both sides of the lines. Heck we did not even have John Hendrson and still stopped your running game! Two things you need to do, run the ball and stop the run. You did not do either. Well the next time you have some wings with your Coors, think of Hooterville… I was laughing how soft the Broncos have become! GO JAGS!
Bronco Howie, DJ Williams is worrying me. If you look at some of the traps the Jacksonville line through at the Broncs. DJ was always going into it, and it let the running back out the gap for the secondary to make the tackle. The linebackers have to be hawks towards the ball. He seems to be constantly going away from the ball. He is getting a little better every week. But, he just hasn’t shown that big play or given us that big performance. Everyone is getting tired of saying we are so hopeful for a replacement for Elway.. (Which finally we have the real deal QB that can lead this team).. But, right now I am itching for a replacement for Al Wilson!! One that stands up to the challenge and hits the right gap, and hits it hard. The offense is coming around. Their 3rd down percentage isn’t that bad. I’m loving their 4th down percentage. Even though Graham’s drop was a heart breaker.
Lastly Scottne-coors is a Canadian brew now. Fat tyre and wings? Bronco’s aren’t soft sir.. Just bested by a second rate team that had a better Sunday. They were impressive on the run, I will admit. But, only to a team who hasn’t quite gotten a brand new scheme in the right gaps. What stopped our running game was being behind. Your anemic defense can’t stop a good passing game. Your team lost to TN!!!
When an organization has to beg with “triple play games discounts” to get fans in the stands, and their website is begging for fans…Don’t come on to a classy teams web site and try to trash talk. Especially an organizations that in the last 20 years is a model of what a NFL football club should build towards. It really isn’t becoming. When a lady knows more about football then you. Might want to humbly go back to the hooterville! Thanks Coop for the great blog!!
Shannon
Hey Shannon!!
I loved it!! Tell the Jag (scottne928) what’s up. Hey, we have to give Jacksonville some credit, they came to play, running the ball. Like many of you said, new system, new players in different positions and DJ making the adjustments. And no John Lynch isn’t our defense and hopefully he heals up for this weeks games, but groin injuries are tough. We have 10 other guys that have to do their jobs and be in the right position on every down. I have hope.
You’d be surprised what you learn from a game where you run out of time.
) As you can tell, I don’t know that (L) word.
Broncohowie, I agree, I’d never take Champ out of the game or Bly for that matter and BradjamesbroncoFan, the Graham drop hurts but he’s a great addition and I think will really help us in the upcoming weeks.
Lang and Tellie, I don’t see anyone going off the deep end, right? We’re not going to win ever game this year and we all know that so we’ll keep things in perspective and get a little better every week and get through the next 4 weeks and we’ll really know what kind of team we have this year.
I have to laugh though, don’t you just love the newspapers. GLOOM & DOOM to sell a newspaper. If we keep improving well have a shot. It’s a long season and I like you guys enjoy every week, win or (the L word) you know what I mean.
Go Broncos!! and you all are the best, I enjoy your feedback.
