I don’t know about you guys/gals but what I saw Saturday night, I liked a lot!!! D.J. Williams was in All-Pro form. If he can play like that and the defense can keep that pace and get better throughout the year, I’m pretty fired up!!
Going in, the Cowboys might have one of the best O-lines in the league, and they average 320+ pounds, I think, and they’re very talented. Jarvis and Elvis showed the speed they have, and I really liked what I saw overall on defense a majority of the night. I also saw some receivers behind our secondary which bothered me a little, but it’s pre-season and I’d rather see the corners take chances now rather than during the season.
Cutler was on fire, going 12-12 early, and Royal made a super catch. I think both tackles played really well against what I thought going in was going to be a good test, with the size and speed of the D-ends at Dallas. Jay made some real nice throws and was impressive. I think this year he may come into his own.
What’d you all think?? I’m curious?

I think our team looked very good. Foxy did a great job on TO, and DJ brought the wood. I am most impressed with our run D. With the run D, I think that will increase our wins by 3 or 4 games, at least.
It was just a preseason game , teams are just taking a look at the whole roster at this time of year , nevertheless out team looks pretty good overall . Going into the preseason i was a little nervous about our kicker and so far , so good but hopefully this guy won’t have a game to tie or to win in the last second during the regular season ( or postseason evenmore !! ) .Go broncos !
Overall, for a preseason game, I have to say it was pretty encouraging. It’s pretty easy to get excited ANYTIME the Broncos beat the cowgirls, but I’ve just been sick of the ‘girls for years and years anyway. I had to watch the game on a pro-cowgirls broadcast and there was some pretty funny stuff to say the least. First, when they interviewed Romo on the sidelines, he seemed WAY pompous acting like it wasn’t a big deal that they got dominated by Denver’s starters. He even had the audacity to say, “If we (meaning the starters) had played the whole game we would’ve probably had some big plays…..” Yeah, Tony, you probably would of thrown a couple of picks and been sacked several times if that’s what you’re talking about. Then as our 2nd and 3rd teamers were beating the ‘girls, the broadcasters resorting to bragging about how much bigger their billion-dollar stadium is going to be than Denver’s. HA HA! We don’t care, Dallas, ours has just a few thousand seats fewer than that one will and OURS is sold out for EVERY game. EVERY game since ’76 if I remember correctly. Dallas has tons of talent, but they also have tons of ego and they don’t have a coach that’s gonna be able to keep all those egos satisfied. If the ‘girls have a tough start to the season, which they will if they don’t drastically improve real quick, then I look for a complete meltdown in Dallas this year. I will be watching and smiling if it happens…….
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Romo also said the reason that he missed that long pass to a wide-open receiver was because the air in Denver is thinner and the pass sailed on him. ARE YOU FRIGGIN’ KIDDIN ME? I almost blew beer out of my nose I was laughing so hard! If that’s the case, then thank goodness Cutler knows how to solve the aeronautical engineering equations and compensate for the increased air density when he plays on the road! If it wasn’t for the fact that he’s dating Jessica Simpson, I wouldn’t have one ounce of respect for that chump.
How about that Niko kid? I see DJ said the kid is a leader and makes him play better.
I read that too snake53. They raved about his leadership in Seattle, no wonder he was a captain for the Seahawks!!! If DJ just has to worry about playing he becomes that much more dangerous, works for me!!
Snake53 or greekbronco9…..
where did you guys read that at?

thanks much
I’ll be happy if the d can get a little more pressure on the quarter back. The offense is gonna rock. Jay Cutler is going to shred defense’s passing coverage. If the linebackers and d-line can do their jobs the broncos will have no problem making it to the playoffs.
Run D looks good; passing D not as good but Champ is out. Safeties gave me some comfort – Not Lynch but played pretty solid. I believe our running backs are too small for the red zone, but outside of the red zone they should produce a decent, not great, running game. Cutler looks really good and if he keeps improving he will be one of the better QBs in the league. Broncs have a tough schedule but I believe a 10-6 season could happen.
I liked what I saw for the most part against the Cowboys. I thought also that R. Clady and R Harris played very well against the cowboys. They played well against Houston except for some mental errors by Harris, but I notice each time he made a mistake he picked up the intensity the next play and dominated his opponent. Both those guys are gonna be good for a long time. The o-line did an excellent job pass blocking, I don’t think Cutler got touched till the end of the 2nd quarter.
DJ is a force a weak side, his natural position. Niko and Nate both do a good job in the middle, if DJ wants Niko, I say Niko. Sounds like he is the kind of guy that makes the players around him better. Lots of improvement from the d-line and they will get nothing but better. Lots of sure tackling was what really caught my eye, especially Foxy.
Offense looks like they will be unstoppable. Put Marshall,Royal,Stokley, Sheffler or Jackson on the field , how do you cover that much talent. Solid at running back and the o-line will get better and better as the season goes on. Cutler looks awesome.
Special teams still need some work on the punt and kick off coverage. Prater will do a good job for the Broncos once he gets past those first kick butterflies. The punters both look good but you got to get the kick off in the NFL. so I vote for Sam at this stage of the game.
Another thing I notice is that guys are in the right position to make tackles this year, hats off to the coaches.
I loved it, Coop. More performances like these will silence the skeptics as the Broncos become one of the league’s better teams. The Cowboys starters, nowtithstanding their offensive excellence of a year ago, were shut out. That speaks volumes about the Broncos in my book.
Eddie Royal is EXCITING !!!! He looks like a starter already. If B-Marsh can wiggle out of the suspension, those first two games don’t look so tough. With Brandon & Eddie on the field together, we really have som S-P-E-E-D on the outside. They should take some pressure off the run game by keeping the safties honest. Andre Hall looks very good, small, but good. Selvin also. We’ve got to get Anthony “Quick Six” Alridge healthy so he can add more pressure on opposing defenses. yes, the offense is coming along very well under the leadership of #6. Go Broncos !!!!!
COOP LETS TAKE ONE GAME AT A TIME AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS HOPE CHAMP STAYS HEALTHY. I THINK THIS YEAR COULD BE SPECIAL. GO BRONCOS.
Hey Coop – thanks for posting. I think these games are a good measuring stick to see where we are. We looked good. I think it is important that our defense gets some confidence going into the season. You are correct our DB’s got burnt couple of times but having a healthy Champ will help that. Cutler looked great but I was really impressed with our O-Line. Coop, you know all about that. I think the Offensive line is the most important on a football team. Look at Brady last year – I counted he had five seconds to throw. Cutler even said he was impressed the the big boys up front.
Being excited for the future is an understatement, so i won’t say it
What a talented young group of players
I can see Cutler coming into his own this season; i don’t think, i know.
Go Broncos!
Film Analysis(wish I had coaches tape)
O-Line
Kuper can accelerate well, and is playing well with only one hand. However,When pass blocking, his feet go quiet, and gets left behind. Head down and high pad level at times.
Harris and Clady are doing a great job, but will have their rookie mistakes, but they look like athletic bookends for a long time!
Hamilton looked rusty, hes better than that. I think the same with Weigman.
Cutler helps his O-Line a ton when he makes his reads and gets the ball out quickly, A+ grade for him.
Scheffler and Nate Jackson-are we getting better in the blocking department?
D-Line
I think Thomas and Robertson will do well. To me it looked like Thomas needs to learn double team skills.
Engleberger is a hard worker/character guy, but my lord, get some pash rush moves please!!! Effort alone makes plays sometimes, but use some skill!! I did not see any basic swim or rip or anything!! If you are not a high quality bull rusher, develop other skills please.
The first thing I notice in the secondary was that Bly was not locked up with T.O. This tells me something…I think Fox did a nice job, and I would call it a battle for starter with Bly and Fox.
If the front four doesn’t get a pass rush, blitz D.J.! Its great having him in coverage and running down plays, but he proved last year that he can bang inside and play in the middle. I havent seen enough of Niko to make a grade, seemed to be in decent position enough.
Having Stokely and Royal is a huge help for the Offense.
Stay Healthy!!
Marshall looked great!!! He’s gunna have like 23 catches and 3 TD’s by week 3. Wait, he’s suspended. DAMN!!!
Nice commentary, I had to laugh a few times like blowing beer through your nose and guys needing pass rush skills and the Romo dating Jessica comment, pretty funny stuff.
I hear they are selling the pink Romo jersey that Jessica wore on National T.V. last year…”off the shelves” and all the gals in Dallas love em…….me too.
)
Pretty funny stuff!! I can tell many of you are bored with the pre-season already….zzzzz. This week’s in Arizona and not many of the starters will play very much. Roster cuts have started so we’ll start seeing somethings happen.
I’ll throw a post up after the AZ game. Oh by the way..18 game seasons and less pre-season?? What’s your thoughts? I’m curuous what you all think I have a opinion and I’ll share it after I hear your thoughts. It’s probably a bit different than yours but curious what you all think??

Glad to see someone is keeping up the blogs with the season almost HERE!
Do you really think the Players Union will jump UP to 18 games immediately? I mean once yo play 18 there is NO-WAY the owners and League will ever consider coming back down to 17 or 16 again, and lose that revenue.
I’d like to see 3 pre-season games first so you have ONE game to shake out the rust, one game for real (like the current 3rd game) and one game to start your 2nd stringers (currently like the 4th game). That would mean 17 regular games first, then move it up to 18 in a few years time.
But that opens the debate on 8 or 9 home games…
Moving to 18 games makes me wonder about the longevity of players careers … I mean really do we want to see any more players end up like HOF’er Earl Campbell? A great man and a great player, but his physical state now is painful to see.
I think an 18 game season would need a 60 man roster…?
Hey Coop!
Honestly, I think we do need less pre-season games. 2 would be ideal, but so would 3. Like Broncos D-Under says (The starters need a game to shake the rust off, rookies need to be in some real game situations and get a taste for the spped and tempo of the game. Also veteran additions need to find a chemistry with the team as well.) But like Champ said. You want the fewest games possible that don’t matter so there are no unneccisary injuries.
As far as 18 game seasons; I like 16 games. I just think “Why mess with a good thing?” But we will see what happens.
By the way, thanks for staying loyal and giving us fans online some great topics to talk about. I live in Canada, so this is the one place I know where I can interact with die hard Broncos fans! I know it’s been a while since i put in my 2 cents, but I always read what you all have to say and we really do have the best fans. Go Broncos!!!
