HOT off the press, interesting??

REPORTS: BRONCOS ENTERTAINED TRADING CUTLER

Adam Schefter of NFL Network & Vic Lombardi of CBS4 in Denver report that the Broncos have been shopping quarterback Jay Cutler.

The Bucs and Broncos were trying to swing a three-way deal pursuant to which Matt Cassel would have been traded from the Pats to the Broncos, Cutler would have gone from Denver to Tampa, and the Patriots would have been compensated presumably by the Buccaneers.

According to Schefter, the Lions also approached the Broncos about a trade for Cutler.

Schefter’s version creates the impression that the Broncos didn’t initiate the talks, and merely responded to the offers presented. Vic Lombardi’s version suggests that the Broncos were and are shopping the eleventh overall pick in the 2006 draft.

“I’ve heard the rumors,” Cutler said. “I know what they’re trying to do. Even though I love Denver and I’d love to remain a Bronco, I know how this business works. If they want me to play somewhere else, so be it.”

Despite Cutler’s generally P.C. comments, sources say Cutler is angered by the news.

There’s a consensus in league circles that Cutler has plateaued after showing some improvement early in the 2008 season. He has been criticized in some circles for having a nonchalant demeanor.

The reality is that, whenever there’s a new coach, there’s a chance that he’ll want to pick his own quarterback. Regardless of whether the Broncos initiated the trade talks, the fact that the Broncos said anything other than “hell no” suggests that new coach Josh McDaniels wants to go in a different direction.

We can get into the new signings later. A buddy called me from Kansas and told me about this story.

What’s your take Broncomaniacs??

Don’t even get me started on this.

I’m ticked and angry that they would even think about trading Cutler. Yeah its kinda flattering that all these teams are wanting him now b/c they see his potential and I understand all that. What I don’t get is why would anyone trade him… do you have any idea how stupid that sounds?? He’s got some things to work on… who doesn’t?? But he’s got so much potential and if we get rid of him (DUMBEST MOVE EVER) we’re back to NO offense. The solid foundation to a solid offense starts with the QB… this is insanity. I could rant & rave for hours about this… I just might. I’m fuming at the thought of this. I just can’t imagine Xanders & McD are this crazy.

And Coop, don’t get lost in that Bermuda triangle you were talking about in the other blog!! ;)
    With faith…
    GO BRONCOS in ‘09!!!!

  2. broncofannsd says:

As 07elway says… I am pissed off and disappointed that Xanders and McD would even entertain the idea of trading Cutler. I understand that the NFL is a business, but the fact remains that the relationship between the QB and coach is EXTREMELY important and crucial to the success of the QB and team. These kind of rumors only hurt the moral of the team. Those negative fans supporting the trade make me sick. If Cutler was such a loser and bad QB, why would other teams want him as their franchise QB? FOOLISH!!!!! Elway threw more picks than td’s in his 3rd year, but did he get traded? Give Cutler a defense and a solid running game and he will SHINE.

What’s next… trading Hillis, Royal and Clady. Freaking JOKE!!!! Makes me mad…

  3. milehighmagic88 says:

I think it’s insane. I have been one of the biggest supporters of the new regime but if they were to actually go through with this, I would lose all faith in them already. To McDaniels and Xanders: don’t even think of going through with it. If you do, I won’t watch a single Broncos game until you’re both gone.

This news made me sick to my stomach. Let’s hope they aren’t really that stupid.

  4. HomeTeam007 says:

Well,… Cutler is the man here in Denver. He has a lot of love and respect. The fans aren’t pinning any of the losses this year on Cutler. Just read the bloggers above. In thier minds, it is the running game and the defense’s fault. My opinion, Cutler is not perfect and he is not the Broncos; he is one man. I’ll be it a good one and a good quarterback. But, If it meant that we get to and win the Superbowl if we trade him, then I am all for it.

Bottom line is, McDaniels knows quarterback talent, and Cutler is still here as a Bronco. So good job for looking at all the possibilities McDaniels! I am sure that type of mentality is one reason that we now have Dawkins on the roster.

    Orange Crush!!!!

  5. Jack_Fan says:

I could understand “thinking about it” when Detroit offered the number 1 pick for Cutler.

But who would replace him? Who would you draft #1?

    Doesn’t make sense.

On top of that. This staff would become very un popular with this town and with the team.

Hope it doesn’t happen. I also hope Cutler chills out and plays ball. His attitude could would affect the season greatly.

  6. thundersrevenge says:

I can’t imagine that Cutler would actually be traded. It doesn’t seem like a smart move to disrupt the one thing that was working for the team last year….the offense!! The only scenario that I could see as being remotely lucrative for trading Cutler would be another first round draft AND an awesome CB or MLB. But I still can’t imagine that coach McD would see Patrick Ramsay as the number one guy.

Cutler was pretty vocal about Shannahan getting axed, so maybe he has been less cooperative than the media has been able to see.

I don’t want to see it happen!

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  7. monodono says:

Personally I’m going to wait to hear from The Coach before I jump to any conclusions. The Media can really strech things sometimes, and I have faith, were’s yours? This would’ve had to be The Biggest Trade in Denvers History, no wait that was another QB.

  11. BroncoAussie says:

There is no need to worry. Cutler isn’t going to be traded because Xanders and McDaniel’s know that if they do trade him 07elway will hunt them down and make them pay.

  12. texark-fan says:

that lombardy dude can’t tell what day it is. trade on sunday. last i checked it is still today, saturday. is he so good he can see the future? this man is the one starting all the B/S. now jay is mad, ok he’ll get over it with a ring on his finger b/c he aint going anywhere. i am glad to see he plays for the players, i just hope he knows who runs the show, the one who is going to take him to the NEXT LEVEL, the one puts him threw 2-a-days.
ps this was posted on the 28th

  13. thundersrevenge says:

Thanks monodono for posting that phone interview with Cutler!

The one thing that bothers me about this whole thing is that it doesn’t sound like Coach McD has had a conversation with Cutler about this yet. I know that Cutler is the player and doesn’t have a say in trades made by the Head Coach, but if Shannahan was still in town Cutler would know exactly where he stands.

Granted September is still a long way out, but this kinda stuff can kill the team before we even get to training camp. Just look at the Cowboys last year. Locker room bull#$!@ lead to arguments between players and coaches then BOOM, the Cowboys became their own worst enemy.

Just ask Dawkins about it! I’m sure he loved every minute of the Cowboys last game at Texas stadium.

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  15. monodono says:

I think Lombardi is a Chiets fan. Next subject please….

  16. kase78matt says:

yea im scared that jay maybe taken it to far now. i mean how stupid could a coach be to get rid of a pro bowl QB before givin him a shot. jay will be in a bronco uniform next year but with a bad relationship with mcd im concerned

  17. monodono says:

“He’s not the only person in the last few days we’ve received calls on,” McDaniels said. “We’ve received trade calls on a number of players, which is not uncommon this time of the year. I also think the sensitivity of the other trade that was occurring, with my relationship with New England and the whole Cassel thing, I think that stirred the pot even more.”

And then McDaniels made a point of emphasis: “We don’t want to trade Jay. We never did. He’s our quarterback. We’re excited about this season. And excited about what we’re doing here in free agency to improve our team.”

  18. monodono says:

CBS4’s Gary Miller spoke with Broncos GM Brian Xanders Saturday afternoon. Xanders denied any plans to trade Cutler, saying “We are not trying to trade Jay Cutler. We will not trade Jay Cutler. He’s a Pro Bowl Quarterback.” He went on to say, “you can ask Josh McDaniels, and he’ll tell you the same thing.”

  19. jab9417 says:

I’m sorry, and you can all me a conspiracy nut for this, but this whole thing feels like McDaniels and Xanders feeling the pressure to succeed in Denver, their first HC and Gm jobs, made a move for a QB that was a known quantity to McDaniels. When the deal fell through, and the fans lashed out upon hearing about it, they fell back on the tried-and true DENY EVERYTHING defense.

While Xanders can say that they weren’t trying to trade Jay Cutler, it really doesn’t fly. If they weren’t considering it, why did they even entertain offers for Cutler? Why did they cut off communication with his agent? Finally, why is it now being reported by ESPN that it wasn’t the Broncos who nixed the deal with Tampa and NE, but the Patriots who backed out last minute?

Sounds like two inexperienced, new head honchos have soem explaining to do to the fans, and more importantly to their team.

  20. imready says:

I was one of the last to jump on the Mcdaniels bandwagon. That being said, this sounds like a “news” story to me.
If you are Zanders and McDainels and you are trying to build the greatest team in the NFL, you have to entertain every offer that comes to your team ,even the ones you have absolutely no interest in completing. Why? What if next year the same team has a player you think will put you over the top. If you hung up on them the year before they won’t even consider your offer. You have to let them think you are entertaining their offer if you ever want to do business with them in the future.
It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to see that Jay Cutler has considerably more talent than Matt Cassel. They are not even in the same class. McDaniels has a chance to have the most prolific offense in the NFL with Jay, I don’t see him willing to give that up for anything.
Have a little faith here Bronco fans, Jay Cutler is still our QB, isn’t he? Because other teams report a story to the media it doesn’t make it true and I’m going to give our the coach my support on this one. Guess Tampa and Detroit were pissed we wouldn’t budge and leaked it to the press who ran with it. It sure would be the first time the media twisted a story around to boost their ratings! Go Broncos!

  21. texark-fan says:

i am with monodono on this one, old story. lets move on.

  22. thundersrevenge says:

I’m sorry, but Coach McD’s comments saying, ” we’ve had many calls about a lot of players…” doesn’t fly with me. The facts are that there WAS a three-way trade involving Cutler going to Tampa and Cassel coming to Denver.

You don’t get that far into a trade process WITHOUT the intent to proceed with the trade.

That being said, I still think that McDaniels and Xanders were smart picks for Denver and will do a great job. However, this whole situation was BUNGLED and one of them needs to step up to the microphone and put it to bed for good so that everyone can concentrate on the season at hand.

  23. monodono says:

This would ‘ve had to be THE BIGGEST TRADE ever to follow through with it. I would be pissed if Xanders and Coach McDaniels would not have listened and thought about it. These guys know what they’er doing let them do it.

  24. imready says:

Hey Coop, you gonna chime in on this one or plead the 5th?

  25. 07elway says:

imready - Coop left a comment on the other blog before he started this one and said he was going down to the Bermuda triangle for some fishin’… we might never know what he thinks about this, if you catch my drift!!! He’ll pop in at the most random moment and say something.

Now that I’ve had a nights rest and slept most of this off… I’m a little more calm. The part that would anger me the most is if they actually considered trading Cutler. I’m not trying to jump to conclusions about McD or anything but I could see why he might of thought about this. I just hate the idea of some young hot shot coach like him coming in here and trying to change OUR system. This is Denver, not the cheating NorthEast. These are 2 totally seperate franchises with 2 totally seperate ways of running a football team… last time I checked Denver had some standards they went by and lived up to them through the players. Its a huge compliment to Cutler that other teams want him - I get that, I understand, that’s just the NFL business. That doesn’t bother me a bit, its why would we trade him?

Seriously, think about it. If all these teams are wanting him so badly, that should be the most obvious news that we should KEEP him!! Duh!!!!!! That’s what I made myself mad about yesterday, thinking they might actually consider making such a foolish decision. I hope this does wake Cutler up though and make him realize he’s got to fight to KEEP his starting position, its not just going to be handed to him… not in this league!! And for it to feel totally worth his while and time and effort and the money, its better to have earned something than have it just given to you. He’s got some growing to do and he’ll get there but it won’t help if we just trade him off like some throw away towel. He’s got all the makings of a GREAT QB, he’s got some growing up to do and learning and the people above him need to work with him and not just toss him aside b/c coach wants his QB he worked with up in Cheatersville. That’s all.

    With faith…
GO BRONCOS in ‘09 with Cutler!!!!!

  26. kase78matt says:

im sure that this will all be cleared up by next week. im just concerned jay maybe readin a lil to much into this now.

  27. texark-fan says:

coop, heard about the boat out fishing glad it was not you. they said there were 4 boats altogether. they are nfl players, can you give us any insite? are you part of their party?

  28. thundersrevenge says:

Just read this article about the whole situation.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-broncos-cutlerrift&prov=ap&type=lgns

According to this no mending or further conversation is going to be entertained by McD, Xanders or Bowlen.

Well, I guess it is completely up to Cutler to be the “bigger man” and make this season work.

I still think McD was the right choice for the job, but I can’t help but miss shanny just a bit right now.

  29. broncomesa says:

Why does this team hate me so much?
I knew better than to get too excited when I saw how aggressive Josh McDaniels was coming out the gate cleaning house, and filling in gaps in the Defense. I knew that at some point my Broncos would not fail to disappoint.
The first time we have dominated the news cycle in ages, and it turns out to be filled with nothing but palace intrigue and conspiracy theories.
Coach, why couldn’t you just continue to revamp our defense before trying to pull off a risky, exotic three way trade that was so fraught with danger? Why are you trying to perform open heart surgery on the offence when all is needed is a little nip and tuck?
This is turning out to be a bush league, Raideresque move.
Yes, at the end of the day THIS IS A BUSINESS, so Jay is going to have to sack up and meet with coach and hammer this out. But, McDaniels is going to have to break radio silence too and fix this. And, if it turns out that he lied about being contacted by other teams then he needs to step up and take his knocks before this thing gets too toxic to save next season.
P.S. Brandon has to go. Brandon, I love you man, but, I have gone to bat too many times for you, and there is only so much I can handle of you taking my good will for granted, and making me look stupid in public.

  30. mark_cooper says:

Wow are things flying around or WHAT?? and yep, I’m here, that wasn’t me, lost at sea. Sad story about the guys getting lost out in the Gulf of Mexico. Scary place. I guess they found one today clinging to the boat and the rest were separated, sad, sad story. About the time I posted the blog I heard out of Kansas the phone started ringing to see if I was in Denver or Florida fishing.

On my BLOG, I followed the story all weekend and didn’t get a chance to see the paper today as I started early with meetings, etc. So with just what I’ve heard today (busy day) on the radio between meetings and the office, the press is chewing up coach McDaniels, Xanders and Jay. Typical. I expected the fire storm and you did too.

I’ll read/catch up tonight, but here’s what my gut says.
    1. It’s the NFL and if a coach can improve his team, no one is safe.
    2. Because you make millions you’re not bigger than the team
    3. People make mistakes, media included
    4. You don’t have to like the coach you play for
    5. Respect is earned
    6. Leaders make mistakes
    7. A few wins and no one will remember this conversation :o)

    Catch you all tomorrow.

Hey, say a prayer for those guys lost at sea and their familys tonight. please!

  31. thundersrevenge says:

Glad to hear from you Coop!!!!! I hope those guys get home quickly!

Thanks for putting this whole mess in perspective.
Do you think Xanders and McDaniels are really that ruthless? I know that the NFL is cut-throat but it seems like reckless-abandon to me. Jay and the offense were just about the only thing that kept most of us Bronco fans from drinking ourselves under the table last season (with a few exceptions).

I really like your number 7. Let’s see a streak of wins and forget all about it!

    GO BRONCOS!!

  32. thundersrevenge says:

broncomesa……I’m starting to agree with you about Marshall.

T.O. has been nearly the same type of disruption to every team that he has been on and Marshall seems to be on that track.

Maybe it was just me, but at the end of last season it seemed that Marshall was getting a bit big for his shoes. (anyone see Brandon Stokley keep Marshall from pulling a prop out of his jock after a touchdown?)

  33. 07elway says:

Hey Coopster, so glad to hear from you and know that you’re alright. Its terrible what happened to those guys. I pray that they will get back to their homes safe and sound. God bless them and their families.

I like the list you have Coop, its all true especially 1 & 2. Every single player in the NFL is NOT safe at any point and just because they make a few millions doesn’t put them above anyone else for any reason. I really believe Jay wants to be here for the ‘09 season and many more… hopefully his entire career and retire a Bronco. He looks great in Denver Orange & Blue!!!!

I especially like your number 7 as well, as long as Jay stays, no one will remember this crap come September when the season starts. I know I’ll force myself to forget all this… this is just plain torture!!!

    With faith…
GO BRONCOS in ‘09 with Cutler!!!!!

  34. monodono says:

    COOP, HOWS THE FISHIN?
Lot’s of people spewing all kinds of emotion around here, even Cutler. I hope everyone gets over it soon its getting old. I also hate how so many people are throwing either Jay, Coach McDaniels, GM Xanders, and even Mr. Bowlen under the bus and now Brandon Marshall has put Himself in a bad position. I just want people to show a little more respect around here.

COOP what do you think of The New TEAM Roster, and who do you think The Broncos will bring in as a back up QB? What’s the next step?

GOD BLESS The families of those simple fishermen lost at sea.

  35. imready says:

Man Coop, having spent a lot of time on the water you wonder why they had the boat anchored in rough water? Makes you wonder if they had motor trouble? I’ve seen swells up here in Wyoming that were probably 6′ from top to bottom on Glendo , made me about crap my drawers and of course I was on the other side of the lake from where I launched my boat. That kind of weather is why I gave up fishing tournaments because as you know, in tournaments you get disqualified if you beach you boat unless the officials determine the situation is life threatening. Spending 8 hours on Seminoe fishing in 35-45 mph winds pretty much did it for me. My heart goes out to the families of those men and to the men themselves, a terrifying experience if you live though it an not a pleasant way to meet your end if you don’t. With the boats I’ve owned I always bought the motor being first priority and a deep-v hull with strakes to keep her going in the right direction. An auxilary power source to get you to shore also is a plus just in case you get in trouble. Lastly, you need to know how to handle you boat in rough water , don’t take stupid chances and lastly , learn to read the weather patterns where you spend most of you time on the water.

  36. broncomaniac4life says:

yo what up? is Cutler acting like a baby or what?!?! He thinks he’s untouchable. are you kidding me? who cares if you went to the ProBowl. Look @ your W/L record. Mediocore @ best. Snake took us to a play-off game+had a much better W/L record. I heard there “might” be trade talk w/Vikings+Bucs. I’m all for it. We can get Garcia+draft a QB in the later rounds. I’m start’n to get the vibe that we got the 2nd coming of Jeff George. I’m not a Cutler fan. Do not care if he has a rocket arm. He needs to start winning games (That’s what a QB is measured by) before he’s allowed these tantrums. What do you guys think ’bout that? I’m happy ’bout signing Dawkins. He’s an All-Time Warrior, but…how many good years does he have left? 2…maybe 3??? I still think we need to draft a stud Safety in the 2nd/3rd rd. Groom that kid behind BDawk. Dawkins will bring instant toughness+leadership. No joke ’bout that. I hope he+Champ work well together. Not sold on Safety Renaldo Hill. He seems stop-gap for only 1-2 years. I hope I’m wrong ’bout that. Andre Davis made plays in Cleveland+I hope he does a better job than Niko (Bust!!). I still like Webster so not sure where his future lies in Denver. keep it real. punches n bunches

Did anybody else here or read this article?

    OWOSSO, Mich. (AP) ―

The father of former CSU and Denver Broncos Quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt has died. Linebacker Brad Van Pelt, who spent 11 of his 14 NFL seasons with the New York Giants, died of an apparent heart attack. He was 57.

The Giants announced the death Wednesday.

The elder Van Pelt starred as a safety at Michigan State. He was chosen by the Giants in the second round in 1973 NFL went on to make the Pro Bowl five years in a row from 1976-1980.

When the Giants drafted Lawrence Taylor in 1981, he and Van Pelt, Harry Carson and Brian Kelley formed one of the league’s most feared linebacking units.

Van Pelt also played with the Los Angeles Raiders and Cleveland Browns.
My condolences go out to Bradlee and his family for their huge loss.

Van Pelt’s son Bradlee, began his college career at his father’s alma mater, but then transferred to CSU to pursue his dream of playing quarterback.

In the 2006 NFL draft, the Broncos drafted Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler. In training camp, Cutler moved ahead of Van Pelt on the depth chart making Van Pelt the third string quarterback, behind Jake Plummer and Cutler. He was released by the Denver Broncos on 2 September 2006.

Van Pelt was then signed by the Houston Texans on November 27, 2006 to be their third-string quarterback, brought in by his former coach in Denver, Gary Kubiak. He was released by the Texans on August 27, 2007.

I wonder if Bradlee is still interested in playing in The NFL? I really liked this guy and I thought He may develope into a good NFL QB. It also seemed that He and Jay Cutler worked well together. Some one get on the horn and find out.

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !

  38. shoe4x says:

You would have thought that Bowlen would have gotten an assurance from McDaniels during the interview process that he was OK with Cutler as his QB. Or, alternatively, Bowlen might be behind all of this. I am not sure why and it just seems senseless.

I can understand McDaniels wanting Cassel as it would have been his guy and he wouldn’t have to teach him the new offense but now hearing continued trade talks with Minnesota, etc. it’s really not adding up.

I think a lot of Bronco fans are in for a big surprise this season with the offense. It likely won’t be recognizable as it won’t be Shanahan’s style but the New England style (for better or worse). Maybe McDaniels doesn’t feel he needs someone who can throw the ball down the field - just someone who can run the offense, make the short throws, and not make mistakes. Thoughts?

  39. thundersrevenge says:

Finally…..the head office has confirmed that ” they absolutely will NOT be trading Cutler”

    http://cbs4denver.com/broncos/nfl.broncos.cutler.2.949657.html

I don’t know if our blog has anything to do with the fact that Cutler and McDaniels have a meeting set up but I think this is exactly what many of us die-hard/bleed orange fans were waiting for.

Great pickups on the D. Looks promising so far.

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  40. George Bush says:

I cannot believe that Coach McDaniels would EVER consider a trade in which Cassels replaces Cutler.

All along he has been saying that winning is the most important thing so why would he replace a young pro-bowl franchise QB with an inferior back-up.

That is why I believe them when they say they will not be trading Cutler.

McDaniels should have already decided on those current Broncos players he considers can form the spine of his teams and his first move would be to obtain players to strengthen that spine. Since the QB is the brain and heart of every team from which the whole offensive plan and rhythm emanates a decision on the QB is the first one any Head Coach needs to make.

The fact that they have now openly nailed their colours to Jay Cutler means that they cannot trade him without looking like complete lying idiots.

To me it is all a storm in a teacup and Jay has been wound up by the media.

The only thing that concerns me is the apparent lack of communication with Jay.

Anyway the Broncos now have a new Head Coach, and like it or not he will be making the decisions on the tactics and style of the team going forward. As we all know we needed major changes to improve the defence and special teams, but the offense was close to perfect and would have been the number 1 offence in the NFL if the running back injuries had not torpedoed so many games.

What annoys me are supposed experts on sports channels who have no common sense. They try to malign Jay by blaming him for all the interceptions. However more than half of these were made because of the state of the game causing the risk factors to be far higher, which obviously results in more interceptions when you are forcing the game.

Now the media start causing rifts between management and players.

Beware of the media. The Broncos management need to communicate with the players and fans, not the media. Together players, fans and management can make the Broncos great again under Jay Cutler’s captaincy.

  41. mark_cooper says:

I try to keep life simple. Mistakes get made, feelings get hurt…get over it Jay and be a Leader. Personally, I like him but his stock just went way down by the way he’s handled this whole mess. Might be his agent. I don’t really care who it is. Winning football games has to be the main objective period. Oh yea, and the media beating this dead horse doesn’t help, but we expect that, right.

I might get in trouble with my next comment, but I was getting my hair cut today and Catrina who has cut my hair for ever ,seems like, asks me, “so what about Brandon.”

I just started laughing and said he kind of reminds me of a quote from a movie, “Stupid is, as Stupid does.” The guys got the God given talent and he’s going to blow it. So Catrina asked, was it the same girlfriend. My comment was, I didn’t think so from what had been reported, but I’m not sure and it doesn’t really matter because the common denominator is HIM.

I like the Dawkins move and don’t get to worked up on the age thing because the Raiders (if you’ve been around) use to take nothing but cast off’s an won plenty of Superbowls doing it. You’d be surprised how age knows where to be on the field.

For those of you that have been around this blog for the past year or so know I don’t get to worked up over trades and the draft as it all has to come together in July-August when it counts so you won’t hear me get to overly excited about anything in the off-season. You all keep me more informed than I keep myself through the off-season and especially when it comes to the draft. I did watch some of the combines with my boys a few weks ago and that was interesting, brought back a few old memories.

On the fellas lost at sea. I’ve been racking my brain to figure out how they flipped the boat. Could have all been on one side pulling up a big grouper and a wave caught them just right?? Don’t know but I do now this. They broke a Cardinal Rule in boating….you never leave a floating boat. It’s an easier target to see from the air…period. Sad, really sad.

I haven’t heard the story on Brad Van Pelt and wow, young at 57. Say a prayer for the Van Pelt family too, tonight. He was a great player.

mark, i think you have clamed down everyone not by what you said but the way you said it. good work.

Very well said Coop, very well said. I don’t even want to add to anything you said… you’re good man!! ;)
And hopefullly texark-fan is right… everyone just needs to chill!!! All will be well in Broncoland, God willing.

One thing I just don’t get is how they can just call off the search for those missing guys. That makes the story even more sad. The families of those guys must be in complete agony… God bless them.

    With faith…
GO BRONCOS in ‘09 with Cutler!!!!

Big poppa’ Coop bringing it back in! This is the only Blog in the world where the moderator always knows what to say! (even if it might get him in trouble :)
I don’t know that my stock in Cutler has dropped any through all of this. I really think that Jay saw what Shannahan was building and believed in it. When the possibility of that vision started to fade, he really showed what a passionate player he is. Can’t fault him for that. It may not be how the NFL works a lot of times, but I think that Jay believes you gotta play at 110%, 200% of the time. This is what will make Cutler a champion.

As for Marshall, he’s got to learn or it will all come crashing down on him. I think he is a helluva receiver, when he wants to be. Too many stories about guys in the NFL that have the off-field life ruin their career.

    GO BRONCOS!!!

Check it out and let me know what you think. IMO Simms would be a great back up.

Thanks for the great post coop, think you hit the nail on the head with that one. As far as those guys being lost at sea, if they did have the boat anchored hard in rough water, it could pull the bow under, then the boat could roll. Maybe we will find out more when the lone surviver starts to feeling better.

Welcome Chris Simms, have a seat and let’s talk.http://www.denverpost.com/commented/ci_11828379?source=commented-broncos
