REPORTS: BRONCOS ENTERTAINED TRADING CUTLER

Adam Schefter of NFL Network & Vic Lombardi of CBS4 in Denver report that the Broncos have been shopping quarterback Jay Cutler.

The Bucs and Broncos were trying to swing a three-way deal pursuant to which Matt Cassel would have been traded from the Pats to the Broncos, Cutler would have gone from Denver to Tampa, and the Patriots would have been compensated presumably by the Buccaneers.

According to Schefter, the Lions also approached the Broncos about a trade for Cutler.

Schefter’s version creates the impression that the Broncos didn’t initiate the talks, and merely responded to the offers presented. Vic Lombardi’s version suggests that the Broncos were and are shopping the eleventh overall pick in the 2006 draft.

“I’ve heard the rumors,” Cutler said. “I know what they’re trying to do. Even though I love Denver and I’d love to remain a Bronco, I know how this business works. If they want me to play somewhere else, so be it.”

Despite Cutler’s generally P.C. comments, sources say Cutler is angered by the news.

There’s a consensus in league circles that Cutler has plateaued after showing some improvement early in the 2008 season. He has been criticized in some circles for having a nonchalant demeanor.

The reality is that, whenever there’s a new coach, there’s a chance that he’ll want to pick his own quarterback. Regardless of whether the Broncos initiated the trade talks, the fact that the Broncos said anything other than “hell no” suggests that new coach Josh McDaniels wants to go in a different direction.

We can get into the new signings later. A buddy called me from Kansas and told me about this story.

What’s your take Broncomaniacs??

This is why I come to Coop’s blog first.

His cool wisdom, and the great additional input from all you fans.

As for the young men who perished in the boating accident - God Bless them and their families.

It just goes to show how tenuous life can be and how dangerous the force of nature is. If you make a mistake on the field you can lose a touchdown, but if you make a mistake at sea you can lose your life. Be safe out there.

Thought I’d do another mock D, just to see what it looks like on paper. I’m bored.

  7. monodono says:

Obviously We cant have 4 NT, and 9 LB’s and Raji in the first rd at #12 is a little far fetched, but Moore is the best Safety available and He is projected around the 48th pick and Freeman is also projected to be around the 79th pick these two could really help.
Then maybe we trade down and pick up Ron Brace inthe second.
Food for thought. I also like Paymah over Travis Daniels out of Cleveland which The Broncos may be looking at.
I guess I’ll go to bed now.

Hmmm Simms?? The Coaching staff has been busy.

Mondono has a mock D up. Any comments on it form anyone?

Did you all see the salaries in the paper. I can’t even count that high. :o)

Let’s move to the next post.

  9. DHB#1 says:

I agree with what I have read so far this has become a Pats team and I think as we go on there might be more. Simms had a bad injury. Can he over come this. If they decide to trade Cutler I think we should give him another chance. He might snap out of it but would like to see him get a little more excited when he does get touch downs and congratulate the guy that gets it done. Its like Brian Greise all over again. Hope Pat Bowlen knows what he’s doing.

  10. broncomaniac4life says:

everyone in broncos country will know what the deal is this coming Monday. If Cutler doesn’t show up for voluntary OTA’s then that says a great deal on his mind set. Bring back the Snake!!!!! I’m sure McDaniels+Bowlen know what they’re doing. Cutler isn’t untouchable. He might think he is, but he’s in the wrong. High drama in Mile High. punches n bunches.
