Defense-tastic!!

November 21st, 2011 - 10:20am by mark_cooper

Call me a homer but after watching the game, listening to the commentary both on TV and the radio comments after the game, I can’t seem to figure out why everyone wants to talk about what the Jets did wrong. Sanchez talks about taking the blame and the Jets didn’t do this or that…………ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

The DEFENSE tattooed Sanchez and the DEFENSE scored and DEFENSE (Von-Doom and company) kept pounding him into submission. The DEFENSE won at the line of scrimmage a majority of the time and on 3rd downs and is playing as a team and at such a high level and not really getting any credit. Wow was that a run-on sentence :o )

Thank you Andre for the pick “6”!

That’s called game planning, playing as a team, knowing your assignments, being in the right spot and doing YOUR JOB. That’s something that gets so overlooked. There’s a zillion clichés in football about “teamwork” and “everyone being on the same page” and “everyone doing their assignment”. You hear them each and every week from various coaches and players and I really think you let them go in one ear and out the other as a fan unless you’ve coached little league or boys and girls sports or any sport for that matter. It is so true….but you’re seeing it right now with this DEFENSE. More clichés, “if you take care of the little things the big things happen”. Soooo!!! true with this crew. Why to go coaching staff and players.

When you rattle ANY QB, they become average quickly. You’ve seen it with the Mannings, Big Ben, Brady, Cutler and some even say it to the press. They say when they have the time, they can be effective. YEA DUH?? Basically they are calling out their offensive line and saying give me time to throw the ball and protect me. I don’t know if you notice but Sanchez threw a few jump balls last night right before he got hit, so you know he was feeling the pressure.

You have to give Tebow credit where credit is due. Reminds me so much of when I played in that whenever you had Elway behind you you knew you we’re in the game and had a chance to win…same goes here in 2011. My mother is 83 years old and she calls him the “Cardiac Kid”. She says he almost gives her a heart attack at the end of the game. Funny stuff. The gals at the nursing home love Tebow and wear their jerseys for every game.

P.S. Great game plan coaches and staff, keep it up. And mixing it up.

GO BRONCOS!!!

And while I’ve been crapping all over goodie this season, he played prob his best game of the last two seasons……….so like I say, give props where props is due.

Our defense is becoming feared throughout the league, and that to me is great.

  5. CarnageBronc says:

The defense gets no credit for playing 60 great minutes of football because they latch on to the 5 minutes of good football Tebow plays

  6. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Carnage, dunno which news u have been watching but the d is getting credit. U just want them to get all the credit cuz u are anti a tebow led offense. It is what it is. We know what our defense is made of. Only reason we are getting noticed now is because the jets are a notable name in the nfl these days. But in all honesty their offense is garbage. Not to take away from the broncos d but in my mind, scoring on their D seemed to be the harder feat than stopping their offense. I fear the raiders offense more than I do theirs. The last real offense we faced went to town. The Lions. But then gain, offensively, the packers nd Lions are on another level. TRB

If I may, Orang … having read about three blogs worth of your “metaphore, rhyme, alliteration, allusion, intelligence, and vocabulary,” it seems a lot more like juvenile trash talk. That DTing a microphone thing… That was truly classless.

Also, if you had a true mastery of “metaphore, rhyme, alliteration, allusion, intelligence, and vocabulary,” you wouldn’t need to keep referring to your mastery of “metaphore, rhyme, alliteration, allusion, intelligence, and vocabulary.”

I don’t think I have come across a single good point you have made, and it embarrasses me that it seems like it may have been my religion post that set you off, because I don’t think you have taken a break from hassling the boards since then. I take it as an insult that you are the only one that responded positively to that post.

p.s. you are a stinking sulfur fire that everyone is hoping will die out soon.

  8. alexanserg says:

Anyway, great post coop. As always, thanks for you thoughts.

  9. alexanserg says:

My 1:25 post may have been a little overstated. But I still stand by it.

  10. baylinorcrush says:

I take it a sulfur fire never goes out? LMAO!

What in the heck did I miss?

  13. baylinorcrush says:

cody, you didn’t miss anything trust me, LOL.

  14. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

From what I am gathering, it seems we had a religion discussion probably sparked by Tebow’s faith in Christianity, that didnt end very well. This was most likely caused by some ignorant comments made in the wrong context or somebody acting immature and bad mouthing somebody else’s faith.

I have decided that Orangutan is one of the following:

    1. An acutal Orangutan that someone taught football and how to type.
    2. A 12 year old who wants to be all big and bad on computers to suppress the swirlies, wedgies, and locker stuffings he/she gets on a regular basis.
    3. A 30 year old, unemployed, high school drop out living in his mother’s basement.
    4. Someone who likes to pick fights to make themselves feel better.

Now I am very curious to the response I will get but seeing as how I have a job defending our country. I probably will not get to see it until tomorrow.

    Bay – Prediction:

    Denver – 23
    SD – 21

Coop, your run-on sentence was actually a continuation of what I have been saying since watching all the post game stuff. Thank you!!! Miller is a ROY candidate for sure. Can’t wait to see him dump that weeny Rivers a couple times. Broderick Bunkley has been a beast from the 3 technique. Nice to hear from you Coop!!

  17. 07elway says:

    Hey Coopster…

Was a great game but nothing seals it like the ending. Leave it to Tebow to watch in awe as he drives the offense 95 yards. Incredible… reminds me of someone……..

Defense was outstanding. They held their own, they held down the fort & Von Miller is a long-time keeper. That kid is flat out amazing at what he does. Big year for the rookie. I can’t wait to see what Von-Doom has in store for Rivers this time around and the rest of our D.

Would really love to see Champ get a pick 6, long overdue for one… no better time than to do that to Rivers. ;) But I’m glad to see someone like Goodman get a pick 6. That was huge.

Keep fightin’ to the end boys,
    GO BRONCOS 2011!!!!

  18. mark_cooper says:

raidrhadr, agree Rivers O-Line has be beat up pretty bad so he may on the run all night.

07elway, QB’s and O.C’s have been avoiding Champ for the most part and that’s been fun to watch, he looks like he’s in top form right now.

This week should be fun to watch, as Rivers has ad out number lately and if we put pressure on him he’ll throw picks. He’s had a tough year.

Hey, the comments on Tebow by Elway yesterday curious on your take, because I love Tebow’s fire and intangables and I think he’s making strides but objectively you have to look at the whole game and the 3rd down efficiency and hope he gets better. Like I mentioned early in the year, I think of all the players in the League, he was hurt the most by the lockout and no OTA’s.

  19. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

Coopster, always good to hear from you and you bring up a good topic here.

I think that the comments made by Elway were exactly what HE needed to convey because saying Tebow 100% IS THE GUY would be untrue, untrue to what he and the FO believe. John is looking long-term and he just doesn’t see it in Tim.

They inherited Tebow, from a guy that i’m sure will forever leave a bad taste in Mr. Bowlen’s mouth, McDaniels, and I really think Elway wants to hand pick HIS franchise QB — from his POV, all things considered, were exactly what the organization said that they would be, transparent and honest, even brutally honest obviously. And while I commend Elway on being real, I think that those type of comments have to weigh heavy on Tebow’s heart.

I mean it’s hard enough with the media circus this kid has had to endure but then having to hear it from the Duke himself, who’s shadow alone has played into past QBs’ minds, with expectations on how to play here in Denver; who also is now the VP executive of football ops… OUCH!

I believe that you hit the nail on the head Coop. Tebow did suffer a lot more than others without OTAs. In my opinion he’s still a rook, still learning the professional levels’ in’s and out’s.

Many would point out how other rookie QBs have excelled E.G., Cam Newton. But what is excelling? Throwing the ‘pretty’ passes? Having a high completion percantage? Which in Cam’s case he’s doing… imo the answer is NO.

I would have to say that the stats that count the most are the ones in the W/L column and, RIGHT NOW, at THIS moment Tebow IS winning. You can leave the style points for figure-skating.

    Thanks Coop!!

    Hey ‘Big and Mean’,

Had no idea you had a blog! Nice job! You’re almost as good at this as you are real estate! LOL

I’m in 100% agreement with you regarding Denver’s defense this past week. I’m not a defense gal, but I still noticed. Awesome work! Von is pumping up that line and is looking at ROY if he keeps this up.

But, can’t deny that the Tebow did a great job in the final drive! He rocks. And of course, I’m a sucker for rugged and passionate man! He’s the real deal.

Give your mom a hug! I was out of town Thurs so didn’t know the result of the game until Saturday nor watch the game until Sunday when I got home. Although I already knew the outcome, I was still screaming at the TV and my heart was still pounding in those final minutes. Tell her that ‘Cardiac Kid’ is the perfect name!!! :-)

  21. 07elway says:

I think with time Tebow will grow on Elway. Elway must know that at the beginning of his career he was far from perfect and all he needed was time & a coach & a team to surround him with support. Same situation we are in now with Tebow.

Elway had his own oddball features but he was given countless second chances. I would only hope that he sees that as well in Tebow, not just his imperfections with 3rd downs & to throw more accurately. The things those 2 have in common is more than I think Elway may realize.

I do his his concerns though. Not blind at all to what we have (or not) with Tebow. But Tebow has plenty of room to grow, its just a matter of will he get the support Elway had when he started. We lost how many SBs with Elway and we still stuck with him??? C’mon now, we lose one game with Tebow behind center & everyone blows a gasket & thinks the world is over as we know it.

Tebow deserves a fair shot to grow, mature & become a better QB.

‘Comeback Kid’, ‘Cardiac Kid’… whatever you want to nickname Tebow, either one of those suits him but his fight, passion & determination will take him the distance. We gave Orton a fair shot, its Tebow Time! Give the man room to do better, that’s all I ask.

    GO BRONCOS 2011!!!! ;)

    COOP!
I just wanted to wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.

I don’t post much any more, but I do read you Blog every week.

In fact last week I was talking to one of the security guards were I work and I was telling him how the OLine must’ve loved that game and how I never knew an OLineman who didn’t like to run block and mix it up on the ground and that I felt Coach Fox was building on the fundimentals for a young OLine and then a few minutes later I pulled up your blog and couldn’t believe what I was reading. It was like I was reading my own words I had just spoken.

You have a Great perspective on whats going on in Broncos Country, and Us Broncos Fans want more.

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !
