Hauchka-tastic

August 28th, 2011 - 7:59pm by mark_cooper

Did anyone know how to spell the kickers name, because I had to cheat? Nice drive at the end of the game for the win. Tough injuries and like we’ve SAID….hmmmm they keep piling up and they hurt with DJ and Bunkley out for a while. DEPTH kills when you don’t have it. But boy do I like the intensity.

Was all day at a Pee Wee (Faulkner) football tournament and our 12 year olds did well and I’m proud of our Creek Royal team. We took some lumps today as a team and it’s funny/interesting to watch players figure it out and get better. Same in Pee Wee as the Pro’s promise.

Liked the pass pro I saw with the ones and again someone made the comment that it’s only Seattle but one more with Arizona and we have RAIDER WEEK coming. Those of you that have been around know how I dislike preseason. The tempo picks up quite a bit as the regular season opens.

What’s on your minds along the lines of our defense with Doom and Milller???

Got to say that being able to watch a live football action for the first time in a while was awesome.

I am quite stoked about Miller & Doom. I dont think we have had a pass rush that good in a LONG time.

I am not too worried about DJ being out as we have great depth at LB this year.

I am worried about DT. I will assume we will pick up a few of those soon.

I am going to go ahead and make 4 bold predictions:

    1. Miller and Doom will lead the league in sacks. Doom with 19 and Miller with 17.

    2. We will beat Oakland 45-10 week 1.

    3. We will finish the year 11-5.

    4. We will win the AFC West.

  2. Atwater4HOF says:

    Possibly for some Oline depth

Oniel Cousins cut by the Ravens. 27 years old and started/played in all 16 games last season. Would be a solid backup at the tackle spot for us.

  3. Atwater4HOF says:

I’ll be interested to see our cuts from today. 7 to make today by the deadline

  4. baylinorcrush says:

I thought the cut deadline to 80 players is tomorrow.

  5. conrose says:

we might have already discussed this, but do we have any idea how badly Bunkley is hurt?

  6. Atwater4HOF says:

It is, I just read we will be making the cuts today. A few others have already started making the cuts like the Ravens and Colts.

“With 87 players on the roster, the Broncos will cut seven players either today or first thing Monday morning. The official day to make the cut to 80 is Tuesday, but, for liability reasons, the Broncos don’t want to practice with players they are cutting.”

    From the DP on Sunday

  7. baylinorcrush says:

Brees and Tebow to be on the “biggest loser” reality show, whatever…..

Bunkley status is at the bottom of the last page of this blog.

  8. Atwater4HOF says:

    Same article…

“Bunkley suffered what the Broncos described as a knee sprain when he was cut-blocked by Seahawks guard Robert Gallery well behind a pass play late in the first quarter. Bunkley also did not return to the game.”

He didn’t sound overly considered about it in the post game interviews. Which I’d assume means he’ll be good for week 1, week 2 at the latest

  9. sndvl says:

Love your predictions Cody! Glad you made it stateside safely.

  10. BeastFromEast92 says:

I think we go 8-8 this year,in the past that would be mediocre, but is a big step up from 4-12!

I think the 4 more wins come from coaching, the Defense, and a better run game!

Man why do we have to have such a hard schedule this year, usually a bad team gets the easy schedule the following year, somebody has it in for us!
I could see us having a 10 or 11 win season with an easy schedule, but before you predict, you better look how hard it really is.

    BFE

  11. baylinorcrush says:

    8-8 it is BFE.

  12. baylinorcrush says:

    Hope you’re feeling better.

  13. dfanaj says:

Ok, here’s my bold prediction for the season.:

I think that we’re going to go 10-6 on the season. With that kind of record, we should make the playoffs as a wild card. Unfortunately, I don’t think that we quite have the ability to take out the Chargers yet, but I think we’ll sweep the Raiders and split with the Cheifs. Naturally, I hope that I’m wrong and that we go 16-0, but my kool-aid wasn’t quite that strong this morning. lol

  14. BeastFromEast92 says:

Thanks bay,had a rough week, but feeling better now, antibiotics for a week meant no beer over the weekend tho,big bummer, lol.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

To think we make a wild card is strong Kool aid enough, LOL.

  16. brian_schneider says:

So is a “tie” considered half a win and half a loss?

  17. baylinorcrush says:

Only two wild cards in the AFC:

    East; Jets and Pats

    North; Ravens and Steelers

    South; Colts and Texans

    West: Chargers and ?

That’s hoping a lot of those teams do bad for us to even have a remote chance at a wild card!

Only way in is to win the divison, hence to beat the Chargers, just my honest opinion.

  18. baylinorcrush says:

A tie is a tie, haha.

  19. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Denver has released CB Nate Jones & waived RB CJ Gable, LB Braxton Kelley, LB Deron Mayo, G Shawn Murphy, T Curt Porter & DE David Veikune. The roster currently stands at 80 players. The team must cut its roster to the regular-season limit of 53 players by 4 p.m. MDT on Sept. 3.

YAY release Nate Jones day is TODAY!!! … expected all but Viekune. Hoped he would work out but he hasnt really stoodout

  20. dfanaj says:

Maybe, but if I’m right and we go 10-6, then a wild card isn’t outside the realm of possibility. It seems like the wild card spots are usually fought over by teams around 9-7 or even 8-8. Don’t worry, though, I’m not predicting a SB run or anything…

  21. baylinorcrush says:

Mayo, LMAO, I just said after last game I scraped me all the mayo off the field to make a sandwich out of it!

    Nate Jones, good riddance!

Braxton Kelly, thinner yet at weakside LB.

Veikune, obviously too much hair, LOL.

  22. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

Cutting Nate Jones is looking good for the likes of Thompson, Bing, and Vaughn.

The rest arent too surprising really.

  23. baylinorcrush says:

With Mayo and Kelley cut we have only two WLB on the roster, DJ out for a month making Woodyard currently the only WLB!!!

  24. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Wow, Cody is not only drinking the coolaid, he is swimming it it. Thats alot of sacks for the both of them alone but its possible i guess lol. Thats like a sack a game … very believable.

I think either VM or PP win Rookie/DROY … After seeing that electrifying pick 6 by PP on none other than Rivers … man that was sweet.

    My prediction: 9-7

I think we will split with everyone in the AFC West. With that poor Bears OL we should win that. We will either win Miami and lose to Lions or vice versa. Lose to GB, NE, and NY.

You can put me down for 9-7 as my Official entry Baylin. TRB

  25. BeastFromEast92 says:

Loved the Nate Jones cut,why did we cut BK,like bay said we have 2 WS LBs,wtf, hope we pick up a couple!

  26. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Maybe we should sign Lofa tatupu. But im sure Woodyard can hold it down till DJ returns. Also what position is Muhamed our late round pick this year playing….I know he is a LB.

Do you know who i thought would get cut after last game? LB Bowen. I didn’t like the way he played. TRB

  27. baylinorcrush says:

You flipped your numbers over from last year 7-9, which got you second place.

  28. baylinorcrush says:

    Mohamed is strongside.

  29. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I hope bing makes this team, as a returner or something. That 4.28 speed is pheonomenal. I believe this defense is commited to speed and i love it. Our team has been the slowest for a longtime … and while speed hasn’t made Oakland SB champs … there is great benefit to speed. Vaughn was an undrafted rookie much like Bing with a blazing 40. And now Vaughn is playing like a True CB … thats the benefit of a secondary coach as a DC. TRB

  30. raidrhadr says:

Coop!! Always good to hear from you. Love the tandem of Dumervil and Miller. Loving the scheme as well. Saw some cool stunts with Doom circiling back to hit the b gap and some delays and zone blitzes that are effective. Miller makes tackles look ridiculous. I’m glad to see us get that done with the front 7. Loved to see the O-line get McGahee in to the endzone early. BUT, we know this is the pre-season right. and that teams will be able to get some film on us and by week 4 or 5 is when we really know what we have. No wonder Coop hates the pre-season.

Loved to see the pass rush but my favorite defensive play is when Seattle tried to run an end around and Jeremy Beal was right at home setting the edge on the backside. That made me stand up and yell.

  31. BeastFromEast92 says:

DJ can still be forced to sit for a suspension, and what if Woodyard gets hurt, that’s a big position, not easy filled!

  32. 3rdGeneration says:

I bet all the Nate Jones haters are ecstatic.

  33. Atwater4HOF says:

No real surprises with the cuts. Glad Jones is gone

  34. BeastFromEast92 says:

In case anybody is interested they are showing the Broncos/Seahawks replay on NFL Network in like 35 minutes.

  35. seweatherman1 says:

Miller is backing up what he said he was going to do before the cba was even settled. He made it real clear that he was going to make the Broncos proud to have picked him. He is doing just that. I think he and Doom are just getting started and I further believe that our Bronco defense is going to be instrunental in us winning more games than any of you think.

Bay, mark me down for (going way out on the limb here) 11-5.

  36. stevecan2 says:

    Season record prediction 5-11.

Almost went to 6-10 after this last game, but sorry fellas, I don’t see a lot this year. Things are looking on the up and up though. Enough foundation being laid this year for the future. So if I am wrong and we are better Here and Now, I will be elated to lose any prediction contest.

  37. brian_schneider says:

    Season record prediction: 6-10

I was going to add in a tie but I don’t think we’ll “McNabb” it this season. LOL!

  38. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Right now its Batman and Robin … he is still and apprentice … Maybe he will graduate to Nightwing (for my comic book fans who know what I mean lol) … I also like the Batman and Superman thing, because Miller wears glasses and when he takes them off he goes from Mild Mannered Von Miller to Superman. Lmao (I think I read that somewhere) TRB

  39. 1nOnlyTRB says:

wheres wearmr, I believe he was the one yelling every day is nate jones release day lol. TRB

  40. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

1nOnlyTRB – Of course I am swimming in the Bronco Kool-aid….i was born a broncos fan.

Gotta say nothing is worse than being stuck in a tent in the desert with 2 raiders fans after getting beat up on 59-14. Worst time of my life!

  41. 1nOnlyTRB says:

If Talib and Britt are cleared for 2011 … I don’t think they will be touching DJ … even tho TJs own was last year during an actual season. TRB

  42. raidrhadr says:

stevcan2: I’m with you. I refer to my 9:19 post where I said it’s early. Teams are not playing like they will for the season. By week 5 offenses will have film on us to scheme us better. If we can make adjustments that will be awesome. But the reality is that we are still a 5 or 6 win team this year. Things are looking up though and I hope I’m wrong about the win-loss thing.

  43. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I wish we could get Phonzy back so badly … sure he wasn’t much. Definitely not worth the “1st round pick” but man … seeing what Dennis is doing with Vaughn, him being a secondary coach before and all, add that to the pressure we are getting, mix that with Phonzies performance in Detroit with a team that can bring the pressure, add that to our thinness at CB, multiply that by the fact that Gronkowski sucks and we are stacked at CB and man … as I can say is with the loss of Marshall, Sheffler, Hillis and Phonzy … McD left a couple months too late lol. TRB

  44. brian_schneider says:

I wish just once we’d get a “mulligan.”

  45. stevecan2 says:

Out of all the “whatever” would be said to McD by Broncos fans. I would ask him one question. What happened between you and Peyton Hillis. Seriously just that one question.

  46. sndvl says:

How about Dawkins moves to weakside LB, kind of like Champ when he moves to the slot! Or here’s an idea, Spencer Larsen anybody?!

  47. raidrhadr says:

BTW. For those of us who are going to games this year…..I have been trying for a couple of years to get a DOOOOOOOOM! Chant going in the stadium when Dumervil makes a play. The Cowboys had MOOOOOOSE! in the ’90s now we can have DOOOOOOOM and GLOOOOOOOOM for Miller. Tell your friends….Mile High needs an upgrade in the fan department. This is the kind of thing that will help us get there. It might even mean more Bronco fans will show up and that less of the opposing teams fans are in our house. That is a big problem. Don’t forget to tell a friend….let’s rock that house this year!!!!

  48. raidrhadr says:

    DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! Practice it at home

  49. brian_schneider says:

I’m pretty sure this is how all of McD’s conversations went.

    McD: Are you a QB?
    Players: No
McD: Then I don’t like you and there’s a good chance you’ll be traded.

McD: Are you good at coaching QBs?
    Coaches: No
McD: then I don’t like you and I’ll try and get you fired or make you so mad you’ll want to leave.
