Great interview today. Waited to post until I heard the interview. If you didn’t, find it on KOA or other sites and see what you think. (DenverBroncos.com will have the video and audio of the press conference on the site shortly.)
Sixteen years in the league and some tough years are “experiences” you can’t read about and/or understand if you haven’t lived it. I was there for four of John and had another three of my own in Tampa with losing seasons, but 16 years and all he accomplished speaks for itself, so I’m excited for the organization, Mr. Bowlen and the fans.
John’s a winner, a leader, a smart guy, and like I mentioned before the MOST fierce competitor I ever played with in my “ENTIRE” sports career and I played with Kelly, Testaverde, Joe Ferguson, Steve Deberg and Bernie Kosar was a redshirt at Miami when I as a senior. You know it when you see it and you know by what a guy does on and off the field. Leadership and respect are earned, not a given.
By the way great posts all week on potental draft picks and links to video on them. You guys/gals keep it rolling. Like I mentioned late in the week if you were reading (Bay) and I discussed John as a team player not a guy you work for BUT “with” and I think the interview today solidified that comment. When he walks into a huddle, “we’re all in this together attitude” will be much the same as an Executive VP. That’s teamwork at the highest level and that creates “lapdog loyalty” in an organization and a feeling of being a part of something much bigger.
I know you all get tired of my PATIENCE comment but we’ll need some because it will be tough to turn this around quickly. Big ships take time, but I have a lot more faith with John involved and so will many of you if you listened to the no nonsense interview and I appreciate how candidly he spoke about the team, organization, Tebow and Champ.
Fresh start today, so stay tuned.
GO BRONCOS!!!

I will tell you one thing, if we keep Wink as DC WE BETTER hire a DC for HC like Williams, Wink with an OC for HC would be a disaster without a doubt in my mind.
For sure! Then again, Williams, I would sincerely hope, would bring his hand picked DC to make sure they are on the same page about the side of the ball he loves the most.
I doubt very much he wants to end up HC + DC. That spells trouble.
Of course, all Williams would need is a yes man as DC and like you say he probably would pick one, like one of his N-O D assistant.
It seems to me that the biggest problem of the McD era is there was NO DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY, and I believe this is exactly what Elway was saying he means to change, spread out the power and delegate authority. Each one has a specific job to do on the team, on the management level just as on the field, that’s something immature McD had no clue about, Napoleon reincarnated I tell you.
Just saw on ESPN that the 49ers are looking at McD possibly for their HC. Good luck lol
I just read that Mularkey canceled/postphoned is interview with the Broncos, in order to prepare for the playoffs. He will hovever interview with the Browns on Saturday, since they scheduled before us.
Napoleon reincarnated…..lol!! Good one bay!!
Weird, first agreeing to a Friday interview, about 10 days before their next playoff game, then pulling out because of playoff preparations? Like they didn’t know that when they agreed to the meeting? Something doesn’t add up, maybe Mularkey didn’t like what he heard from Elway about the team organization yesterday? That could be more likely, just saying.
And he can’t hold the interview on Friday with us but can do so on Saturday with the Browns??? Mmmmm…
Here’s the link.

Good point bay……maybe he didn’t like fact that Elway referred to him as “Mark Mularkey”.
I just watched ESPN show”First Take” and they had an interview with Tebow (lasted better than 5 min.) and discussed his documentary which will be on this evening 7 p.m. est “Tim Tebow: Everything in Between”.
His interview with them was great by the way. He is so much into being the best Denver Bronco he can be!
LMAO!!! Yeah that could of offended him a little.
Mularkey may want more control than what he knows he is going to get. The way I understood what was said it was going to be a concensus of decision making. If one gets offended that easily, enough to cancel his appt., do we really want him anyway? That kind of shows me that he is not much a people person.
Yeah as bay mentions, somethings not adding up.
Well, I guess it is better to find out now about this type of attitude instead of later.
I really don’t like the guy just because of his name! Thats a bunch of Mularkey! But its true! lmao!
Careful broncowildkansan, we don’t want to offend him or hurt his feelings in any way.
bwk – a bunch of mularkey!… lol!
sweatherman1 – thanks for scoop on the TT interview on ESPN tonight.
seweatherman1 what station is the Tebow documentary coming on tonight? If Mularkey got his feelings hurt that quick then he needs not be our coach. We have a “Tell it like it is” fan base and his feelings could get hurt much more and worse.
Never mind on my doxcumentary question. Just saw the answer.
ESPN caramelloo. 7 p.m. eastern, so that should be what 5 p.m. Denver time? I’m in the eastern timer zone, and anything out of that I am lost!
Sounds like Miami really wants Harbrough. The offer is $7.2 M How in the hell can you pay a college coach with little NFL coaching experience that kind of money? It reminds me of Spurrier. And what kind of organization would negotiate for a new head coach when they still have one? I will take a hard working defensive coordinator who appreciates working for the Broncos and with Elway.
Very true melloo…. He may not like being a coach for the Broncos… John will figure that all out I am sure and not hire a guy that can’t handle the position that is offered. I have complete faith that we will make a careful calculated decision on who will run this orginaztion for years to come. John is a go getter and he will go get us a Super Bowl Winning Coach!
Agreed, any day of the week!
Danso, my sentiments exactly!
Tsk Tsk baylin. You forgot Dumervil. And Ayers is a keeper for at least 1 more year. Lol
DEFENSE in 2011
Allright! We are all getting on board with a DC for HC, now all we have to do is convince Elway of it, please read my 8:29am post.
It’s easy to see why I forgot Doom, haha, but yeah and Ayers is nothing I would rely on even so I wanted him in that draft he has not produced and has failed to remain healthy. Anyway, you are just being a stick in the mud, I was obviously over brushing the whole picture to show that we are clearly in distress on the D side of the ball, and just a few pieces away from being great on O. How would anyone be able to argue that? You probably could, LOL.
yeah it would be 5 Denver time, but 6 my time since I’m in the central time zone. Yeah broncowildkansan John is a go getter and will handle get things to fall into place.
Hahaha @ Josh McDaniels not interested in the 49ers HC job! guess he’s gonna wait for the Raiders call.
It doesn`t hurt any of my feelings that Mularkey doesn`t want to interview with the Bronco`s. We may have our HC by the time the Falcon`s season is over. SO BE IT! WE WANT A DEFENSIVE MINDED COACH ANYWAY!!
BFE, thanks for the Info on the trading start date.
I would love a 4-3 defensive head coach or really good coordinator for the fact that it works well against the run (because of gap control). I have played both as a linebacker and am more fond of the 4-3 because i always knew where the D-line men in front of me was going and where I had to go for example linemen goes a-gap i go b. With the 3-4 its more of a guess nose tackle goes strong or weak a-gap and I have to see what way he is going and go opposite making more thinking involved.
what is sparano lost his job if miami is going after harbaugh. hadnt heard that he was fired
Breaking news luck not going to nfl this year.
Sparrano is in limbo right now. The dolphins are waiting things out to see what to do. Bad business in Miami. Cut the ties already, his goose is cooked.
What?!! NO WAY!!
“So bottom line with all due respect I would put very little credence into that Xanders research in my opinion.”
Numbers still don’t lie. It seems like there is a great deal of conflict of interest. I am more than confident this research was not a high school level research project. No one, not one on the NFL level has questioned Xanders ability. Just the fans that hate McDaniels that guilt by association has labeled him. With that debate made, when looking at who is already on the coaching list, that 2% mentioned is not the ultimate deciding factor. Just another sign to me that this research was indeed impartial and scientific. Listen to the fine details and rest assured, it looks very likely we will be going with a D minded HC.
We should of kept Mc D for one more season. Then we would have the #1pick and get Luck. lol
how can a team interview a coach b/4 firing the current HC. The QB (HENNING) I think and the kicker Carpenter , not Sporano killed the phins
Okay….this Fairley kid. He has looked dominant but also boneheaded with the spear of the Georgia QB, twisting his head to hit the QB in the knee and the whole grinding his facemask into the QB’s chin. I got no problem with a guy playing hard, but I think that kind of stuff is going over the line and could lead to fines and/or suspensions especially in the “dont touch the QB league”. Thoughts?
I know I’m late with this, but I feel like I got my Broncos back when they announced Elway. It’s kinda like they finally got a teacher back into the classroom after all the students tore everything apart!
Bay and Freak, great stuff, like the mock draft and it’s not off by much, like the picks. DEFENSE baby……..DEFENSE.
Week was little crazy with some closings and went to the Flyshow at the Merchandise Mart today, then hit the ISE at the convention center to get my saltwater fix and catch up with a bunch of fly guys I know around town.
Drove by the old facilities,…..hmmm, boy was that weird. Haven’t really thought about them in some time….a building and quoncet huts for lockers…boy has this organization come along way…had to laugh. Had better facilities at the U, than when I first came in the league.
I don’t know about you all but the suspense is killing me….real curious to see the interview process get going. Too bad about Harbaugh.
Stay tuned huh….you all are the best source of info and love the links to players and other interviews. Anybody see the year of the quarterback show I mentioned a num,ber of weeks ago.

GO BRONCOS!!
