CONGRATULATIONS fellas, Welcome to the Denver Broncos, that was a special day for you, your families and a lifetime experience no matter what round you were drafted in. Cool stuff!!
Great day for a player to see his dreams come true. I’m anxious to hear everyone’s comments. My first comment was there was amazing speed amongst that group of guys. Pretty impressive.
I still remember the day I was drafted like it was yesterday. It was a big day. Watching the T.V. surrounded by family and a few of my team mates at my home in Miami.
I’d already been drafted by the USFL, New Jersey Generals (remember those days?) and my team mate Jim Kelly was drafted and headed off to the Houston Team so New Jersey traded them my rights so Kelly could try to get me to sign with the USFL. Interesting times.
The USFL actually offered more money but had no severance or retirement, etc and the NFL was my dream and coming to the Denver Broncos with a QB named John Elway was something no one could compare.
It was fun watching all the families of the players enjoying the day. My father and mother were on cloud 9.
I’m curious on all your feedback you BRONCOMANIACs!!!!!!!!

Man the Starting lineup is goinig to be like this and You guys may be suprised but I think Lynch is gonna have some competion ahead of him.
SS: John Lych, they said he would move back, but FS is still a scenarion
FS: Marlon McCree or Abdullah, I really lilke Abdullah but I think McCree get the job
CB: Champ/Bly
MLB: Nate Webster/ Koutevides
OLB: Williams/ Boss
DT: Mckinely/ Robertson
DE: Dumervil/ Engleberger
Webster played MLB with the Bengals before we moved him to the outside and I think hes the starter for now unless Koutevides says anything about it, but I think Koutevides will get the job in the end
Guys for those people who really want a stud running back, I want one 2 but what I realize is that Denver can make any running back good, and thats just not a need compared to the other needs we addressed like the line on both sides,
By the way, I like Carlton Powell DT of V-tech, hes a run stopper, thats exactly what we need. Good catch shanny!!!!
lynch isnt fast enough to react to short passes anymore, and i think well keep rotating linemen on defense
FS: Lynch/Mcree
SS: Abdullah
CB: Champ/Bly
MLB: Webster/Koutevides/Larsen (HUGE battle in training camp)
LOLB:Boss
ROLB:Williams
DT:Robertson
DT:McKinley
DE: Crowder/Dumervil/Ekuban/Englberger/Moss
First off what is all this excitement over Barrett. We all know that Denver is good at getting second day gems but few of them Defensively have ever made our team. I dont see Barrett on our active roster at all during the regular season, howerver if nobody picks him up off of waivers he will be on the practice squad. Ireally just don’t see him beating out the veteran competition at safety, I really believe he was brought here to create competition and a sense of urgency for our veteran safeties. It is kind of like hey you don’t want to perform you can go take a hike we got more where you came from. I think that the guys that are here in our secondary believe that there job is secure and shanny drafted a CB and a S to let em know that they need to put up the numbers or they will be packing for a new team. You guys gotta realize that Coach shanny has no problem cutting a veteran player or releasing his butt. Every one of our picks this year on the second day were for depth and competition, Which by the way anytime a coach says these guys will provide competition and depth what he really means is I am not happy with our current situation and want a change. As much as I love our secondary as is the fact of the matter is this we stunk it up on defense in every phase of the game last year which is partly due to the offense not sustaining drives and scoring, but mostly I believe that the guys on defense did not get the coach they wanted so they just ignored Bates and his scheme it is no secret that even Champ was a malcontent on defense last year he is just more proffesional than the WR in this league he kept it behind closed doors and now look what happened new co-ordinator, Gold is gone upgraded for D.J. and the Champ’s brother is in town the Boss. however Shanny still picked up another corner in the draft why? He is making a statement to Champ, Bly, Foxworth and Paymah, and it is simple for them to read between the lines this year. This is the defenses last chance to take their game to the next level or we be going younger all the way around.
DT: Robertson
DT:McKinley/Thomas
it’s gonna look like this….
DE/Dumervil (re), Moss (le)
DT/Thomas (rdt), Robertson (ldt)
OLB/Bailey (will), Webster (sam)
MLB/Williams (mike)
CBs/Bailey (rcb), Bly (lcb), Foxworth (nik)
FS/Lynch
S/McRee
yeah thats it….thats the winning D!
Lynch is great against the run, but he has had like one INT in the last two years. McKinley was not cut, that was Antwan Burton. Barret runs a 4.36, he has ridiculous measures and could help against the pass. Larsen will help a lot against the run, him, Kuotouvides or Webster in the middle.
I am with goat master, i think he hit the nail on the head. Emaldo, not so much on this one, shanahan has already said that DJ gets to move back to Will, where he belongs, boss will be at sam, and i believe Niko will win out the position at mike on the depth chart and the other LB’s will fight it out for 2 spot on the chart and will see some action each week.
Goatmaster is only partially right. McKinley will probably be the third DT on the depth chart but will see significant playing time switching rotation with Robertson both are similar in size while Marcus Thomas and Carlton Powell will both be trading time however with Thomas being a younger player he will get the bulk of the plays while Powell learns the scheme and gets up to game speed in the NFL. With all the S we picked up this year I don’t think Lynch will be the FS in our defense but more so a LB in a 4-4 D or 8 man fronts, look for Mcree and Manuel on passing downs, Abdullah is just not what you guys think he is that is why denver put a 7th round tender on him and nobody picked him up, this is one of those things that make you go HMMMM.
They have the safeties playing out of position IMO.
I’ve watched Hamza and he is a natural play-making free-safety.
I’ve watched McCree and he is a natural playmaking strong safety.
They are trying to force square pegs in round holes.
My prediction ?
It will be sunny in the mornings, then turn to rain and lightning in the afternoons.
I’m like a forecasting God in Colorado.
If the safeties look good early on, look for them to stash Lynch till later in the season. (He plays big in big games)
Hamilton might not make it back, I am really worried about that concussion.
Lick is not gonna see the field till at least mid-season. (Clady will start, Lick will not, he has alot to learn, they will PS him or pull his hammy for him)
Harris will surprise people.
Nate Jackson will surprise people. (Stretching is your friend Nate)
Alridge will be one of those guys that you can’t keep off the field.
Darrell Jackson will return to form, he is a “fantastic” route runner and blocker, he just needed a QB to get him the ball.
I just don’t see Colbert making the club.
Jarvis Moss will be a situational player. (he is a speed guy, that’s what we drafted him for)
Bronco’s will use more spread offense.
Almost forgot, Jay Cutler will finally get a haircut from someone other than his mom.
Outlaw Ribs (Vance’s joint) will become “the” place to watch a game on the western slope.
OK, I’m done now.
I hadn’t seen much of Clady except from a bit of clips on the Draft coverage…but man… that guy has something special… watch the clip on the website
what does everyone else think? does Clady have a few pro bowls in his future?
YES!
The draft was very good considering the 4, 5th, and man…the 7th, was the sleeper and it was a steal; squash what everyone else is saying because most people can’t evaluate raw athleticism anyway, but Barret is the real deal, he will learn from one of the greatest and return the days of lynch and atwater….he just needs to be challenged and pushed hard( he might be the new motivator) that is so desperately needed in the character of this team.
There is however one mistake Denver is about to make…..its pride on “class”
Let me finish….yes we are a “class” organization but we also pride ourselves on leadership by example instead of a lotta “yappers” and trash talkers, but i say put all that aside, and and get the single most important factor and “X” factor in the remaing Free Agents like possibly…..Another Deep threat WR.
I propose……to give Kolbert and Jacobs at WR, and Snell or Hamilton or Nalen at OL, with next years 1st Round…..to Cincey for “ocho cinco”!!! They need a lineman BAADD
Dont worry about the 1st round because we’ll be the 32nd pick after winning the Superbowl ‘09.
Think about it, he’ll be so happy to get out of there he won’t be having an “all that” attitude like Javon….but he is dangerously still the most underrated deep threat at 1 or 2 WR with 3-4yrs of consistent blazing speed and reputation to force teams to account for him, opening our offense up even more…!!!!!!
Put aside your pride Denver………GET CHAD JOHNSON!!!!!
Johnson…..Marshall….Stokley……Royal, and Superman Scheffler, are you kidding me,…are you kidding me, they better pray we don’t get frisky and bring back the hurryup, are go 4 wide two consecutive plays 3x’s a game……..thats the most explosive and pound for pound receiving corps in the NFL
HEEEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOO is anybody OOUUUUT TTHHERRRREEEE!!!
GET CHAD JOHNSON and SEAL the SUPERBOWL!!!
do what it takes but you’ll remember this blog and say ……who was that
Knight anyway=}
I like the following as our starting line up for the new season:
Offence:
QB-Jay Cutler
FB- Peyton Hillis
RB- Travis Henry
WR1- Brandon Marshall
WR2- Darrell Jackson
WR3/Slot- Brandon Stokley
WR4- Eddie Royal
WR5- Samie Parker/Keary Colbert
TE- Daniel Graham
TE2- Tony Scheffler
LT- Ryan Clady
LG- Ben Hamilton
C- Tom Nalen
RG- Chris Kuper
RT- Ryan Harris
Defense
RE- Elvis Dumervil/Tim Crowder
DT- Marcus Thomas
DT- Dewayne Robertson
LE- Jarvis Moss
SLB- Boss Bailey
MLB- Niko Koutovides
WLB- DJ Williams
FS- Hamza Abdullah
SS- Marlon Mcree/John Lynch
CB1- Champ Bailey
CB2- Dre Bly
Nickel- Dominique Foxworth
Dime- Karl Paymah
Quarter- Jack Williams
Its a good team if we stay healthy, but in all honesty we still lack the impact players in key positions e.g. RB, lets hope Torain is a star.
You can believe me…….or not.
If it’s man coverage……..you are gonna see alot of Paymah.
I don’t like him in zone.
Mano y mano ?
The guy can cover.
Let me clarify further.
Whoever their “deep” threat is ?
Put Paymah on him.
i think Lorne Sam is a great FA rookie pickup….he might surprise some folks with his skills….Seen him live vs. boise st.. a few years and the guy brings it every play! everybody knows he was at Flordia st., and that he moved to UTEP and that he played QB, and WR…which WR would be a great pick for him to go for in the Pro’s he is 6′3 215….imagine him doing end arounds like BMarsh but then him throwing it down the field 60 yards to Royal or Stoke!! Especially when we get that running game going again in full strength and have Cutty doing his bootlegs..i think we have ran plays like that in the past! at least in the pre-season lets try him out!! unlike Maurice who couldnt even get 1 carry!
you only put paymah on a deep threat if there is two deep threats, otherwise you put the best CB in the league on that guy. I think his name Champ?
I really like this draft too, but I think there’s some people going a bit crazy here. In a draft class with 9 picks, I’m guessing that most teams are expecting something like 4 of those guys to make a lasting contribution to the team. Something along the lines of a starter or two, a capable backup/special teams guy or two. I think a team that got significant contributions from six of nine picks would be absolutely ecstatic. The thought that all 9 of these guys are even going to make the team is a bit on the absurd side. The thought that up to 7 of them are ready to step in this season and make a difference is just plain wishful thinking. Maybe I’m wrong and this goes down as one of the greatest team draft classes in history… Which would be so awesome that I think I’d never get over it… But more likely, we’re really *hoping* A) that Clady can get it done against NFL caliber competition. B) That Royal becomes an effective return man who can play some receiver if necessary. C) That Lichtensteiger can develop into the guy that (apparently) Eslinger never could. D) That Williams can be solid enough in training camp that _after_ next season he might be considered for a Nickel position, and in the meantime, he could maybe be a returner if Royal struggles. E) That the remaining picks can shuck off the injuries that have plagued most of them.
Like I said, I really like this draft, but let’s not go overboard here, if we get 4 legitimate NFL caliber starters, this is a very, very good draft. If we wind up with 2 starters and 3 or 4 effective role players, I’m still super-excited.
dave888259: No being realistic around here, some of these guys go beserk if you don’t see all the draft picks making the pro bowl so you better put on your rose colored glasses while looking at this draft!
I consider myself causiously optomistic , I think they have again made some outstanding picks and there is the posibility that more players than average may make the cut. Most of the picks the Broncos made would have gone much higher in the draft if it wasn’t for injuries, a great draft stratigy if you have enough medical knowledge to pull it off. I also expect that either an undrafted free agent or Ryan Torain will emerge as a starting RB sharing time with Travis Henry. My money is on Torain. Sure , the system makes running backs in Broncoland but I think the decision makers do an outstanding job finding RB talent that fits into that system. If they drafted him, they expect him to fit the system.
GO BRONCOS!
Look, for all you saying Lynch is too slow or not as good, u better checks yourselves, Lynch is the vocal leader on our team, just like AL Wilson, he can still play and make rock hard hits, he was injured last season, so I think Lynch will no doubt be the starter.
I see some of your line ups for the offense, and Im scared to say that we have a lot of recievers, I think one of the big name players in danger of being release, especially in the wide recievers, Shanahan didnt draft Eddie Royal just for kick returning, all im saying is dont be suprised if one of the good players on our team doesn’t make the cut!!!!!
LE - Tim Crowder/ Ebenezer Ekuban
DT - Marcus Thomas
DT - Dwayne Robertson/ Alvis McKinley
RE - Elvis Dumervil/ Jarvis Moss
WLB - Nate Webster/ Look for Jarvis Moss to be injected here at times
MLB - D.J. Williams
SLB - Boss Bailey
CB - Champ Bailey
CB - Dre’ Bly/ Domonique Foxworth
CB - Jack Williams
FS - Hamza Abdullah
SS - John Lynch
D.J. Williams said the only LB spot locked down is Boss at SLB. I just don’t like the huge drop in speed and athletic ability with Niko in the middle. Broncos have been known over the years for having the fastest backers in the league. Niko is not a three down back. D.J. is a three down back and so is Boss. D.J. should get the Mike position as it is the most important.
Until we draft Rey Maualuga next year. That’s our corps.
Vinci, DJ’s natural position is weakside so he needs to play there, and dont count Niko out just yet, different doesnt always mean worse
ok heres my lineup..
QB:Cutler
RB:Henry/Hall
FB:Sapp
TE:Graham
LT:Clady
LG:Hamilton
C:Nalan
RG:Kuper
RT:Pears
WR1:Marshall
WR2:Jackson
WR3:Stokley
WR4:Royal
WR5:Colbert
RE:Dumervil
LE:Crowder
DT:Robertson
DT:Mckinley
OLB:Boss/Webster
MLB:DJ/Niko
CB:Champ/Dre’
FS:Lynch/Mcree
S:Abdullah
DJ is ganna play middle trust me on that
Some interesting comments on some of the Broncos Fa’s from the “experts”.
Anthony Alridge: Better chance of making pros as a WR rather than a RB because of his size (174 lb).
Note: He played both positions and did some return duties.
Tyler Polumbus: Best chance of making pros is in a zone blocking system. Smart, learns quickly. Has short arms and is not nasty eough.
Brett Kern: Rated as a 5th round pick but did very poorly on East/West game. He improved steadily and his senior year was by far his best. Biggest concern is his inconsistancy.
Wesley Woodyard: Has long arms. Plays smart and understands the game. Only marginal coverage abilities.
Note: He started as a safety and moved to LB.
Some intersting prospects. I like the “expert” bios of Woodyard, Kern and Polumbus. Time will only tell where the next Tom Jackson or Tom Nalen will come from.
By the way, FA’s are not necessarily cheaper to sign than draft picks. A draft pick can negotiate with only one team. I’m sure that some of the FA’s the Broncios signed were contacted by more than one team. That FA can play one team against another and get a better deal than the drafted player.
DJ said he has been told he is moving back to weakside and that it is where he wants to play. He also said moving to a different position every year stunts his growth at being the best he could be at his position. The mike position is Niko’s spot to lose right now and I think he will do great. Dj’s contract is over after this year, so lets hope the broncos do the right thing by letting him get comfortable where he belongs and signing to a large contract. I am guessing with Gold gone, he can also get his number back. He did great at MLB and finished second in the league at tackles. But if Niko can play in the middle, then there is nobody who I would rather have on the weak side than DJ.
Vinci you are moron. your lineup has several flaws.
dude, thats kinda harsh
that is pretty harsh, no matter how right it is.(in regards to the flaw) But thats okay, it’s just a prediction.
Oh it has several flaws? Turn it up, turn it right up!
Does everyone know that BroncoBoy 902101 is the actual head coach of the Broncos???
If a flaw is leaving the second leading tackler in the league in the middle to grow and dominate then I must be on the wrong planet.
If we had added an Urlacher, Lewis, Tatupu or Vilma to the side then I would understand D.J. moving back to Will. But instead we get a Koutovides (who?). D.J. is a cut above Koutovides, so why weaken the whole corps by having a stop-gap journey-man in the middle?
If Koutivides does start in the middle, he’s going off for passing situations, which will fall between the more athletic and instinctive Boss and D.J.
this is just according to reports and things dj and shanahan have said about him moving back to weakside. now anything is possible, but the way things are looking, dj wants to play outside and shanahan is willing to put him there. (no pun intended).
look vinci, you might be fine with the way everyone ran all over us last season, but the rest of us arent. I think its awesome that hes playing mike linebacker because that puts him in the best possition to STOP THE RUN!!!
look vinci, you might be fine with the way everyone ran all over us last season, but the rest of us arent. I think its awesome that Kout is playing mike linebacker because that puts him in the best possition to STOP THE RUN!!!
sorry bout that, thought i canceled the first one while it was loading
D.J. being in the middle wasn’t the problem. Working around that turntable of a D-Line was the problem. Not to mention differences in philosophy with then co-ordinator Bates and key injuries along the way. D.J. said it himself that he had a break out year in the middle. A coming out you might say.
It seems like the Defensive line will mold together better this year, so we’ll see an improvement against the run, but it won’t be because D.J. is moved back here or Niko is inserted there. It will be because the D-line is tighter.
Let me just add that Nate Webster and Jamie Winborn are also in a battle for a starting spot too. Niko hasn’t earned a damned thing yet. So don’t just hand him his jersey just yet.
DJ said it himself, he wants to be on the weak side. Webster, Niko, and Larsen will fight for the starting spot. I think most of us want to see Niko there tho. Shanahan gave him a pretty solid contract, so it seems like he has faith in Niko.
We all know that the addition of Robertson will help out the run defense. But wouldnt it be better to have two new solid run stoppers than just one?
dude no one said any one is handing niko the spot. But when we picked him up, shanahan said we picked him up because he wanted to move DJ back outside. Now DJ did say he enjoyed playing mike last year. But because of what shanahan says, it is like i said earlier, it is Niko’s spot to lose.
I dont like the Jack Williams Pick at all. Why are we redrafting a player like Darrent Williams. 5-9 doesnt cut it when you are going against big receivers in the division Like Walker, Bowe or Chambers and even 6-5 Vincent Jackson. IF aldrigde is a great returner why not get Trevor Laws in the second round. We are banking on Robertson who has bad knees.
I like the Hillis pick and I have some hope for the ASU safety. Lictensteiger has short arms and the Vtech DT has limited ability. We are now in my mind the worst team in our division.
I was very pleased with this years draft. I wanted Clady more than anyone on the board. I am so happy that we FINALLY got a return specialist. I don’t remember what we ranked for our starting position off kickoffs the last 2 years or more but it sucked! Jack Williams is a solid pick and he could end off just being a starter or a pro bowl safety (who knows). Ryan Torrain looks promising, but guys I really like Selvin Young. I loved watching him run the ball last year, and look what might have been the case if he started all year. Might have been up there with Peterson or even Tomlinson. Nevertheless, We have a pick btwn. what I see is 3 probable starters on most teams. OK Back to the draft. Now I can’t imagine what our run game will do with Hillis this year, with probably Travis Henry. It was worth it to sit through the whole draft to see him picked. and the oth noeable that is really unknown is Spencer Larsen. He dropped off the map a little when he went on his mission so I’m happy that we got him in a later round, because if he hadn’t gone away, someone else would have prbably snagged him in the 2nd or 3rd round. But don’t worry, I’m also happy with Lichtensteiger, and Powell. Oveall this is the best draft we’ve had in a long time. Then again, only time will tell that. Also, Mark is right, LOTS OF SPEED!!! I Love It.
OK, just to touch up on the LB positions. Guys, we know it is all up to Shanny when it comes to where palyers will play. After last year I saw that DJ can play either position amazingly. But why was he put there in the 1st place? There wasn’t much choice. His size fits in the middle but his speed fits him outside. Like it was said, Niko isn’t as fast. But we didn’t see Al Wilson running circles around ppl. He just plain stuffed the run. In my opinion DJ fits better outside but I don’t know if Niko is the answer in the middle. But hoestly I hope he proves me wrong, I think he’s a class guy.
Clady and Fast Eddie!! Followed by a great bunch of second- day guys. Looks as if the Broncos made a haul this year.
I was raised in Ft. Collins and came to AZ State Univ. –Been here in the desert much of the past 35+ yrs. Watching Ryan Torrain most of the past 2 yrs., he’s been a dominating tailback. He was a good mix of power thru the holes and could break it or get around the corner. He had good strong legs and hard to bring down and would punish linebackers and def. back when he broke thru. He was fun. He had an injury that took him out of the last 4 games or so this yr. or would have gone in the top 2 rounds I believe. My opinion is he’s a sleeper and could be a jewel at 139. I’m glad he went to the Broncos who needs a good back and depth at running back. He can also catch the ball and get down the field. Here’s hoping he finds a spot and makes a solid impact for the Orange and Blue. Always a Broncos fan and hoping Cutler breaks thru this yr. and that we get solid work out of our recievers. –from a Colo. Boy in the desert.
I am from Arkansas, so I love the Hogs & Broncos. I have followed 7th rnd: RB/FB-Peyton Hillis. Let me tell you that he is AWESOME! He runs a 4.5 40 & will run you over. He broke the All time Arkansas High School Rushing record playing TB in high school. Then he got to UofA D-mac & Felix also arrived. Coach wanted all 3 of them on the field at the same time because they were our 3 best players, so we moved Hillis to FB. Oh yeah he was also our leading receiver in catches & yards last year.
Cisco - In reference to “Oveall this is the best draft we’ve had in a long time,” I’d like to draw your attention to a time that I like to call “Just over two years ago”
1- Jay Cutler
2- Tony Scheffler
4a- Brandon Marshall
4b- Elvis Dumervil
4c- Domenik Hixon
5- Chris Kuper
6- Greg Eslinger
Assuming that Eslinger is still with the Vikings, every one of those players is currently on an NFL team, 4 were regular starters by the end of last year, and Kuper should be in the discussion as a postential full-time starter either this year or next. 3 are one the verge of pro-bowl production. One was an effective contributor to last season’s Super Bowl champs. I submit that 2006 is probably the best draft I can ever remember the Broncos having. (Although the Atwater/Humprey first round was pretty sick, and the Tom Nalen/Rod Smith/Keith Burns end of that draft was awesome too). Of course, it would be awesome if the 2008 draft can have as much of any impact as the 06 draft… I’m just not exactly holding my breath on that.
I’ve heard everyone’s blogs and they’re all nice, I can’t wait for the season because I live in San Diego and if the Broncos cream the Chargers, all of you will hear me from where ever you are at.
Someone mentioned it earlier that we should’ve drafted Nashard Mendenhall, and you know what, I love our draft but I DO miss that stud runningback. I’m tired of all these minor runningbacks who we have to wait and see and hope that they’ll be good. I look at the Chargers and they have the one thing that we don’t have, a Star at Tailback. Think, when the Broncos have been at their best who was in the backfield, Terrell Davis. I want that back who can tote the rock 25-30 times per game and really take the pressure off of Jay Cutler and I’m sorry but Travis Henry alone is not the guy. We need a workhorse and we haven’t had one since Clinton Portis and even he shared carries. Until we get one people will line the Demarcus Ware’s of the league up on our LOS on 3rd down, and bury Cutler everytime.
No need to watch ESPN with all the comments and matchups you have all have thrown up on the board. I love reading through the commentaries and the mixes. Don’t count Lynch out and Royal reminds of the three amigos but much faster and he can help on special teams. I like Jarvis Moss and with a little weight, he has all the tools.
I’m anxious for the season because I’m not sure I ever saw a season as injury riddled as 2007 for the Broncos as long as I’ve been watching. Can anyone confirm that. I can’t remember one. I was actually surprised we faired as well as we did ans stayed close in games.
I’m glad press got off the diabetes band wagon on Jay as many players have played with that and many other medical issues, let alone the wear and tear of the season. He’ll have the best medical assistance available and the trainers at Dove Valley are the best. I can attest to that with all the injuries I and many of the fellas played with in that day.
The Michigan tackle being picked first did bring back a memory of Tony Mandrich who was at Michigan State and a offensive tackle who was the second pick in the draft after Aikman, he had a heck of time adjusting to the NFL, so there’s never a guarantee.
Still early in spring and the Tarpon are moving in the Keys so I’m headed that way to chase them on a fly rod. Anyone a fly nut out there? I know you think Coop’s crazy (O.K. a little) after I say this, but after the NFL I couldn’t find anything that gave me that Game Day RUSH and adrenaline pump. I was fishing a few celebrity tournaments and BOOM! I was introduced to fly fishing in saltwater. Now let me tell you, seeing a triple digit Tarpon eat a fly in front of you in nano-seconds is a mind blowing experience. (TALK about adrenaline) You blink and shake your head the first time and are trying to comprehend that you really saw what just happend in front of you, and can’t believe your eyes saw that…..and it’s crazy. Then you have 100’s of pounds of fish on a Gloomis fly rod jumping GIGANTIC holes, the size of volkswagons in the ocean in front of you. Game Day Rush ON!!!!!
I know it’s not football or the Broncos but for me it fullfills a spot I needed filled and yes I’m a adrenaline junkie for Tarpon!! You have to try it once in your life, even if it’s on spinning tackle. Catch you all in a week, I’ll be out of commission with Tarpon fever :o)
