D…lightful
Anybody that doubts Mike Shanahan after today has to stop blogging to me or face bodily harm.
) How about the “D”!!!!!!
Who were those guys?
-Spencer (Superman) Larsen
-Josh Bell
-Calvin Lowry
-Wesley Woodward
-Jamie Winborn
-Marquand Manuel
-Jarvis Moss
Offense:
-Peyton Hillis
-P.J. Pope
-Tatum Bell
Better yet, who’d I leave out? WOW!!!!!! Hold down the Falcons running game, make huge stops and stay in the game. I didn’t forget the O line because they’ve have only what? 1 sack this year, are you kidding me. Monumental. Jay’s comeback and the receivers, I could go on and on at how gutsy they played.
Get on the “D’s” Bandwagon now if you haven’t been because that was such a great game to watch and to see all the guys flying around trying to survive beats any Realty TV show (not that I watch them, by the way) I don’t.
Ten rookies playing against the Falcons. Do you really understand what that means in the NFL, huge. I mean really huge. That speaks volumes for the organization as a whole and where will we find our next guy….in the coffee shop? Who knows, this years been the craziest I can remember in some time.
If you can’t tell I’m absolutely beside myself at the way they won that game. Guts baby, guts. Good “old fashioned” show up and start hitting guys in the face, take no prisoners and get them at the line of scrimmage.
I have to tell you, I was honestly worried before the game. But like and old Batman movie BAM! WHAM! BANG! POW! They took it to the Falcons!!!
Tags: Atlanta Falcons, Calvin Lowry, Jamie Winborn, Josh Bell, Marquand Manuel, Spencer Larsen, Wesley Woodyard

I agree, this was a very impressive performance by the defense. I feel that Woodyard continued his great performances on the field. Moss got involved and Larsen did a heck of a job out their on the field.
Jamie Winborn stepped up as a veteran leader and so did Dre Bly. It was good to see those guys play well. And don’t forget about our undrafted rookie Josh Bell starting at corner. He filled in admirably and i think he did great for his first start.
However, still one problem I have with our D…. No getting mad at me here Mark!
I just don’t believe Calvin Lowry is a good player….. He might have made one good tackle all game when he had many chances to get involved and make a play. I believe the guy is soft and he takes bad angles on tackles.
But on a positive note, you couldnt have asked for a better running performance than the one you saw by Hillis, Bell, and Mr. P.J. Pope. They did very well.
Mark Cooper – you are HILARIOUS!!!! I laughed the whole time I read what you wrote. Oh my goodness – you are too much fun to talk to on here. Give these nay-sayers some bodily harm if they talk any more trash about our Genius of a coach we have – only you can.
WOW to you Coop!
And you hit the nail right on the head this time. I couldn’t agree more with you. The defense was just unbelieveable to watch. Very D-lightful as you put it. Larsen was just incredible at what he did playing at like a million positions – I lost track, my mind is just boggled at the fact he took on so much responsibility and for such a brutal contact sport.
I’ve already gone on and on about Cutler but it never gets old. What our offense did was mind-blowing!! Like you said to 10 rookies taking on an experienced team that could have easily kicked our butts – WOW!!!! It is huge and it says SOOOOOOOO much about Shanahan and what he thinks of this team and its potential.
Shanahan – GENIUS!!!!! To have that much confidence in 10 rookies to take on the Atlanta team we took on – I have no words. It makes me think that much more highly of him and respect him for giving these younger guys a shot. Every one of them deserves that chance and Shanny is willing to do that – that needs to rub off on some of you who constantly come on here and talk trash. Shanahan KNOWS what he’s doing otherwise he wouldn’t be the Head Coach. Seriously, have some faith & trust not only in this team but in Shanahan. There’s a reason why he’s the coach and you’re not.
And I’m with ya Coop – I too am completely beside myself. This young and talented team continue to blow me away. Its just amazing what they’ve done and accomplished.
This is your BEST blog ever Coop!! BAM! WHAM! BANG! POW! – Love it!!
Keep the faith Broncos Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!
It was so great to finally see some good smashmouth football. Larsen played the middle backer spot like it is meant to be played. If he keeps this up he earned the starting role hands down in my opinion anyway. He played with heart, played his gaps. His pursuit along the line of scrimmage and lack of over pursuit was the best of the year. Winborn and Woodyard, another great week of playing hard and not being afraid to get the job done. When Champ and D.J. get back it will make this defense better yet, Larsen in the middle D.J. and either Winborn or Woodyard, what choices to have to make. To keep an offense like the Falcons from tearing you apart takes effort, let alone holding one of the leagues best running backs to 86 yards of 25 carries, of which 28 came on one play. How fun would it have been to be able to land Turner to carry the ball oh well. Offense played smart no turn overs, ran the ball well considering it has been patched together over the last few weeks. Offensive line had another great game, keeping John Abraham off of Cutlers back, very few teams accomplish that. You also have to factor in that the Falcons place him on either side of line so one side can not just limit him, hats off to the guys who do the grunt work with out the recognition they deserve, ask Big Ben what that means as he has been sacked over thirty times this season so far. Royal was his usual self, unreal what a find that he was, clearly a rookie of the year canidate no doubt. Lastly how about Hillis with that tapdance catch for the first down, not to many fullbacks with those kind of hands or feet. Looking forward to the years coming with all this young talent, keep it up the games are getting better every weekend. Some veterans on this team better take notice, the young boys are here to play and your better step up or get out of the way. Once again Cutler steps up and delivers, starting to feel like Cutler town and no longer Elway ville!
you will really help me beat these people up talking about shanny? saying we need to get rid of him. HE IS THE BRONCOS!!!!!! i vote he doesnt ever get to retire shanny is coach till he dies. coop being a lineman what do you think about clady? kinda impressive huh lol. love the blog your the man.
ps i keep trying to get someone to respond to me you think you could be like “hey baileythebronco clady is awesome” lol jk. looking forward to your next blog coop,
thanks adam
Coop,
Don’t forget Daniel Graham’s winning catch! I predicted last week that he would make a big play to help win the game. I’m so proud of Spencer Larsen, Peyton Hillis, Eddie Royal, Ryan Clady, Wesley Woodyard and all rookies. They are the men who will lead this franchise to an era of dominance. With Cutler at the helm, everyone will loathe seeing the Bronocs on their schedule for years to come!
People sure are writing books I can’t read all that (I shall write my book now as well lol
.
I have to say Defense was amazing and is growing and will only get better with time and the re-activation of Champ and DJ and even Mccree (not feeling lowry).
Still think our safeties suck and I hold safeties to a High standard cuz they are our supposed last line of defense. Manuel is just average as usual but Lowry is horrible. He isn’t a cover safety or a speed safety and he might be a hard hitting safety but his tackling skills are sub par. I think there’s a bad tackling/defense epidemic in the nfl cuz almost everyone seems like they got explosive offenses and its all illusions with the exception of the broncos of course
. Everyone needs to learn from PIT and Titans.
As for our running backs they did awesome and I am sure there shall be no starter for a while or the rest of the year. We might as well drop haynes. Off season will be brutal, we got like 8 running backs counting the ones on IR. quick six and pope will prolly go to PS. Pittman will be dropped along with hall. Torain, bell and selvin will be on roster with hillis as fullback.
side note: Eddie Royal is as versatile as they come. ROY in my book.
To sum up everyone’s 10 page essay, Everyone is happy with the Effort and Heart the Broncos gave this game. I almost cried in tears. Honestly, I dont care to much about losing but I just want EFFORT AND HEART. Thanks Broncos!
Yo Coop you’re exactly right about sunday’s win….. GUTS, TOUGHNESS, GUTS, AND TOUGHNESS. I think this team is finally ignoring all the stuff that the cbs, fox, espn, and all the other has beens have been saying about them. One min they love our team then hate our team. I hope they all keep picking against the broncos so we can keep proving them wrong 1 game @ a time.
Hey baileythebronco…… I think Clady was a awesome pick and he’ll be holding it down for J. Cut for a long time as well as all of the O-Line since they’re young. Matter of fact our entire Offense is pretty young and will be a force for years to come once we have everyone back and healthy.
I really like the job Slowik has been doing with the Deff.! He finally understands that we are undersized but have alot of speed. So now we are getting to the ball quick and gang tackling. each week we are getting more and more on the right path!
Buck Em Broncs!
[...] “Anybody that doubts Mike Shanahan after (Sunday) has to stop blogging to me or face bodily harm.” Well said, Mark Cooper. [DB.com] [...]
COOP what took ya so long?
I was ready to blog on sunday.
as far as Shanahan goes, if you cant question authority you will never get better. He some times needs to look in the mirror to improve and some times that has to be pointed out. He is the best coach this TEAM has ever seen but not infallable. Personally I hope he stays on for a long time and crushes all coaching records. But there is still room for improvement even after this Great win on the road!
1) four 3 & outs in the first half. Unacceptable!
2) F 33:42 – D 26:18 TIME OF POSSESSION! BOOO!
now that I got that off my chest I can tell you how proud I am of this TEAM.
Notice how no one has said anything about Marshall, Schef, Jackson’s, or Stokley. These rookies really stood out.
E. Royals 159yrds in kickoff returns what a great set up man!
P. Pope 4-35yrds NICE! hope the ribs are ok.
Winbon 10 tackles ! ! !
Woodyard 9 tackles ! ! !
Leatherhead Larsen 7 tackles and son Great blocking! SPUCK! POW!
Josh Bell GOOD JOB!
I also want to mention T. Bell for his GREAT EFFORT at the end of the game and closeing out the win. That leaves me with one last thing the O Coaches for calling a Great second half 24 runplays and 28 pass plays THANK YOU! ! !
Now if anyone wants to call me out for questioning authority, you may do so but it is self evalluation that makes you better! I feel its those comments that helped Shanahan make the adjustments he has.
COOP, I sent you some contact info for fishing in last weeks blog incase you didnt reed it.
GO BRONCOS! ! ! !
reed HA! self evalluation.
COOP,
I just read that Jim Fassel has applied for the head coach position in Oakland. HA! you might as well manage a booth at the Aurora mall.
Coop…you absolutely “Kill me”. You’re a riot! Threatening the nay sayers. That’s just freaking “CLASSIC”. I played football, and I loved the hitting and contact, and being part of something special. However, the level of which you describe the NFL is a game in which Im unfamiliar. Im a bit jealous that I was not a better player, and to reach the NFL dream.
Im going to add that it’s great to see these “ROOKIES” transform into our future starters before our eyes. Additonally, I dont believe I’ve ever seen a better draft, where the quality of draftee could actually be superior to some of our starters, thats just amazing! This must be the recipe for “How to build a successful franchise”. But the way we’re doing it compared to KC is remarkable. They actually use the term rebuilding? Shanny uses the term improving. But the degree of transformation in Denver has to rival that of KC, but the comparative results speak volumes about the differences in coaching? Thanks Coop…
Outstanding Performance Denver,
From our coaching preparedness to our rookies, we stepped up.
To: My Team, and little do you know, America’s Team!!
Your Playoff Journey has now begun, and you must beat the Jets, Bills and Chargers in your “string of victories” to come.
To: the Strength and Conditioning Staff responsible for the Poorest excuse in the training of Agility Reads, and Plyometrics in the NFL:
Your training or ‘lack thereof’ of in such plyometrics and “agilities conditioning” has led to the ‘poorest performance’ in Sound Tackling Techniques, the absence of Courage, and above all, INJURIES that have compounded almost an entire Depth Chart.
On behalf of the World of Bronco Fans I ask,
What do you have to say for yourself?
To: the Head Coach, and Operations Staff:
I would relish in the Opportunity to train and revitalize your warriors to a Performance level worthy of our Marines. As one who helped train and kept Marines performance ready, I welcome this Challenge and Task and would do it for .33 % Less than his Salary. I will do it gladly for it would be my Honor as a Denver Native to Illustrate through Passion what some are calling “Your Identity”. I have followed the heartbeat of Our Organization since 95, therefore I Remember ‘Your Identity’ and will help your Warriors,
“See it to Fruition”.
I’ve served Country Honorably, now it would be My Honor to serve your Denver Bronco Organization.
Confidently Yours,
c/o Sir Jeshua Jackson, Esq.

In ’08 the Giants benefited from a post Iraq Veteran’s vision and motivational speech, and the result: Superbowl!!
What do you have to Lose, nothing you haven’t already.
What do you have to gain, well let’s see ………maybe SUPERBOWL(s)!!?
It’s Your Move.
Go Broncos!
p.s.s.
And to the Outstanding commentating from staffers like Coop, Jim and Rice, keep up the positive points guys.
We all know to well how easy it is to call someone idiots, but if the shoe fits wear I guess, eh COOP?
We knew we had great players and it was great to see them play up to their potential! Absolutely outstanding!
First, I think that both Larsen and Woodyard have taken the starting spots. Second, bring back Josh Barret, he has freakish athleticism, it would not hurt to try him for a bot at safety. Hopefully the Full contact practices would make him better at hitting people. Loved the O. Jay Cutler is so poised.
There sure are a lot of people chaging their mind real quick about Mike Shannahan and the defense after Sunday. The defense did look much, much, much better this week, and they should be proud of their performance. However, this has never really been about Mike Shannahan. People like to blame the coach, but he hasn’t been the one missing his gap all year. I have never agreed with the people calling for Shanny’s job, but I agree with monodono that even the coaches need to be questioned at times. One or 2 games doesn’t mean anything, but a bunch of games does. I’m glad to see the defense slowly progressing, and I think the coaching staff has done a good job adjusting things. We finally seem to be getting away from the 3-4 looks. We had a hard enough time getting QB pressure with 4 or 5, so rushing 3 made no sense. Either way, the coaches deserve credit. I will say it is about time though. We are lucky our offense carried us through the first 3 wins and the win against Cleveland, or our season would have been long over. I’m glad the young guys are getting a chance to show what they can do as well. Veterans have been missing their assignments all year long, but nothing was done. At least the injuries have allowed guys to step up. I hate to say it, but the new guys aren’t any more talented than the vets, but they aren’t missing their assignments as much. That is what we need. Before our talented starters at LB were hurt, we sucked against the rush. Now we are suddenly doing better and guys are where they should be. I say let them keep playing if the vets keep sucking. I’m not naive because I realize the line has also played better. However, I consistently saw our starting LB out of place, and I haven’t seen this with the young guys.
The rushing defense has looked much better the last 3 games, but this was really the first real overall good D performance. It is still just one game. We need consistency. This D has a lot of room for improvement. I just hope all the people jumping on the bandwagon won’t jump off as quickly as they jumped on. I’m still living in reality. We played one good defensive game, but we still have about 8 other really poor outings. Good job this week, but do it a few times in a row to make me a believer.
On a final note. It is crazy to see all the people who love Mike Shannahan now that just last week were dogging him. I believe Mike is a good coach that occasionally needs a kick in the butt to make adjustments. He didn’t deserve all the firing talk before. Either way, I hope all the people falling in love with Mike again will stay that way because this week by week evaluation of our coach is nuts. Some people hate him for 9 weeks and suddenly love him today. Nut jobs.
i can agree with every1 on ur list except Lowry what game did u watch he had a great opportunity to stop turner at the goal line and he just sat there waiting for him to run him over
You forgot the “whishh!” of the Cutler bullet.
Hey Adam, I mean “hey baileythebronco clady is awesome”
) couldn’t resist, sorry. Clady and the O-line are so steady I almost forget about them like another day at the ballpark mentality and keeping the flies of Cutler.
monodono and rustycletis, everyone needs a little push or kick from time to time but I’ve yet to see a perfect football game played on either side of the ball, close…. but there’s also only been one perfect season, so you have to take the good with the bad and it this case with all the injuries, “I’M SAYING” it’s still a long season but after what I saw Sunday, the futures so bright I have to WEAR SHADES!!!
On Lowry…give the guy a chance. I saw what you all did but his first start is something to build on and be coached on. Rookie mistakes can kill you but you have to start somewhere….we all did. Let’s see how we fair against the Raiders and I’m a little shocked no one has jumped on that yet. Big running game so it will be a good game before the Jets to get the kinks out before we see the FARVE man!!
I had to repeat this………47rocksurworld, said “Once again Cutler steps up and delivers, starting to feel like Cutler town and no longer Elwayville!” WOW…….hmmmmm.
hey mark you forgot peyton hillis……
If the Broncos can run the ball consistantly, and play some good D they will win this game. The Oline is playing well perticularlly in the pass blocking, if the line keeps working on thier run blocking they could once again be one of the ellite Olines in the NFL. I agree the future is bright for this young TEAM!
P.S. There is more than one rookie Ryan on that Oline playing well.
Don’t you wish every rookie class could come out & play like these guys?
Now its Raiders week! I don’t think there rookie class is near as good.
broncfan99, nope, look at the original post…Payton Hillis was mentioned, he’s got bragging rights the way he’s playing right now!!
monodono, agree 100% a little tweaking here and there and we have the makings of a great O-line for years to come.
outoftowner, ahhhhhh, finally someone said it!!!!!!!!!! Let’s go pound the Faders…..!!
Go Broncos, see you on the other side of the Raider game!!!
