  1. superbowlboundbroncos says:

Fairley, if not available, then Peterson.

  2. superbowlboundbroncos says:

Draft front seven in the second and get a good safety and we’ll be on our way to being Super Bowl bound.

  3. strandoftds says:

I like Fairley or Dareus. Get that DT.

  4. mikebirty says:

Take Peterson, can’t afford to miss with this pick and he’s the best defensive player in the draft

  5. 3rdGeneration says:

Wrong question Coop….should read, “Fairley, Dareus, or Peterson?”

  6. sndvl says:

Fairly. Which is a fairly easy decision. Though, I like Peterson. Or Dareus, but not at #2.
    Who you takin Coop?

  7. milehighmagic88 says:

Dareus all the way. And I for one do think he should be taken as high as #2. No trading down. He’s the best overall player in this draft. The thing is everyone felt he would be the best in this draft about two years ago and now he’s an afterthought because of all the Bowers/Fairley/Peterson hype. But that’s not Dareus’ fault. He kept producing like always, but the football analysts forgot about him and went to the next big thing or in this case the next big things.

I personally think he’s more worthy of being picked as high as #2 than any of those other guys.

  8. baylinorcrush says:

Fairley or Dareus, that’s it. DT.

  9. baylinorcrush says:

I do too honestly hope it’s Dareus, we know what we get there, with Fairley we have to be a little concerned over him saying he doesn’t want to play in cold weather plus he is a bit of a loose cannon but he plenty makes up for it with his play. Dareus is different, he would never say stuff like that, he is a class act with whom we would take absolutely zero chance, he is as sure a thing as you can get for the DL this year, and he has proven he can play in any line up, everybody else has question marks, not Dareus, exemplary. That’s why I’m all for him and Fairley would be fine except that Carolina will very likely pick him up. So easy choice for me: Dareus.

  10. baylinorcrush says:

Or Fairley, specially if Carolina picks Dareus, haha.

  11. milehighmagic88 says:

Yeah that’s exactly how I feel about the whole thing too. I liked listening to Dareus in his press conference. He just sounds very business like and focused. Not really trying to impress anyone, he just goes about his business. If it ends up being Fairley I won’t be disappointed. He’s a great player as well. But I personally would rather have Dareus for a teammate if I was player. He has that quiet, humble approach which I think would fit perfectly with some of the personalities we already have on D like Champ, DJ, Doom and Bannan. I could just see him fitting right in with those guys in terms of attitude.

  12. baylinorcrush says:

He does his talking with his play.

Plus the vocal leader we need is not on the Dline it needs to be our ILB, that’s where we have missed a vocal leader ever since Wilson was done…

  13. milehighmagic88 says:

I agree. That’s where I think Greg Jones comes in. I am a big fan of Casey Matthews but like Dareus I think Casey is the kind of guy who is going to keep his mouth shut and bring the intensity with his play. Jones on the other hand is the type of LB you can build around because he has all the necessary skills and he also has a mouth that never shuts. But in a good way, like the way Al Wilson was always barking out orders. He’s one of the top vocal leader types in this draft.

At least that’s my take on it.

  14. TTDBroncFanTT15 says:

DT… Trade Orton we have a great QB… even w/ out a preseason he is a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Or cut him if it is possible.

  15. Mikeyb1203 says:

I would be happy with either Dareus or Fairley but NO DE. We don’t need it.

  16. MarshMelo15 says:

While I agree that Peterson is probably the best overall talent in the draft we still gotta go with Fairley. BUT if Carolina takes Fairley the definitely Peterson.

    1. Fairley
    2. Peterson

Man, I keep fantasizing on how awesome our secondary would be if we got Peterson for a couple of reasons. First, he would be learning from the very best to ever play that position in our own Champ Bailey. Second the guy is already a freak and can play at this level so we could have both Peterson and Champ locking down the outsides with Cox shutting down the slot. That would just about be the BEST CB tandum in the league.

  17. 3rdGeneration says:

How about this scenario, trade our pick to the Niners for their 2nd round pick and other things, this ensures they get the QB they want. Trade Orton for a 2nd round pick to the Panthers (assuming they’re taking Fairley). Now we have 4 second round picks AND Dareus could/probably would still be on the board.

  18. 3rdGeneration says:

On the board at that Niner pick that we traded for I mean.

  19. MarshMelo15 says:

No way is Dareus still around in the 2nd round. He is a top 10 pick for sure.

  20. milehighmagic88 says:

Yeah I like your outside the box thinking 3rd, but like Marsh said there’s no way Dareus will be around in the 2nd round. He’s just too talented and too many teams need help in the front 7. Even if we don’t take him at #2 like I hope we do, he’ll definitely be gone by the 6th or 7th pick in the first round.

  21. 3rdGeneration says:

No, I wasn’t clear. I don’t think Dareus would be around in the 2nd. I mean if we swapped with the Niners for their first round pick plus their second round pick. He might be around come the Niner pick.

  22. oldsouthstander says:

Bowers and Fairly have some serious performance questions. Dareus gets my vote.

  23. milehighmagic88 says:

    3rdGen,

Oh yeah that makes a lot more sense. That may be possible. I have a feeling that several teams want Dareus badly like Buffalo at #3 but I know a lot of people don’t agree with that. Most people think they’ll go for a QB or WR.

So I really think we should stay with the highest pick possible this year to finally get that truly elite player we’ve been lacking from our first round selections for a long time. Just my thoughts on it though, I could be wrong.

  24. broncosfreak30 says:

    BTW guys…

Shockey didn’t sign with Miami!! Someone said that he signed with them but the only thing I found was that he passed a physical with them! Apparently Carolina is really interested in him and he might be headed there, but if we would like him, which I think we should get him, we better hurry and get him!

But I think right now we need to sign Prater, Woodyard, Harris and bring in Atowge and sign him!!!

  25. broncosfreak30 says:

Hey guys, some more interesting news!!!

The way North Carolina defensive tackle Marvin Austin sees it, he should be a player Denver should consider with the No. 2 overall pick.

Austin missed the 2010 season for accepting gifts from an agent. He said he thinks he is a better prospect than Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley and Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus. Yet, those two players did play in 2010 and Austin doesn’t have much of a chance to be taken ahead of them.

The Broncos don’t have a visit set up yet with free agent safety O.J. Atogwe, but one could be in the making soon.

I would absolutely love to sign Austin in the 2nd round!!! Get a DT in the 1st with either Fairley or Dareus and then try to get Paea in the second and if he is gone then take AUSTIN baby!!! Seems he wants to be a Bronco and has a lot of determination and is a beast!!!

    Fairley/Dareus
    Paea/Austin
    Jones/Wilson
    Matthews/Sands
FB Ojecvick from Stanford or however you spell his name, haha!!

  26. socalbigbroncofan says:

whats the schedule for the work outs. anyone got a good link. thanks.

  27. baylinorcrush says:

Freak30, when you drop Peterson off your wish list you know the Peterson train has finally left the station, this is a mad mad world, LOL.

  28. baylinorcrush says:

About the trading Orton bit, back to reality guys:

NFLPA Exec Dir De Smith addressing agents now. An agent in room texted: “Not close on one single issue. This WILL go into September.”

Without a cba NO ONE will be able to trade players for draft picks, period.

  29. baylinorcrush says:

Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis’ release is imminent — likely tomorrow, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Guess who got the best of this trade? Portis out of Washington, Bailey just signed a 4 year contract with us! Love it…

  30. baylinorcrush says:

I remember someone here saying if I was a scout I would have more credibility here, well, maybe not just any scout:

    Rams scout arrested in Indy
February 26 St. Louis Post-Dispatch. St. Louis Rams general manager Billy Devaney said the team is aware of the situation and is gathering information on the arrest early Friday morning of team scout Luke Driscoll for public intoxication and public nudity.

    LMAO…..

  31. baylinorcrush says:

    This sounds like a nightmare:

General manager Scott Pioli said the Chiefs were trying to reduce their considerable list of players without 2011 contracts before the league’s collective-bargaining agreement ends next Thursday. The Chiefs have 25 players without a 2011 contract.

Which brings up the point that there is only 4 days left after today to sign guys like Atogwe.

  32. Ikiratuki says:

I’d like things to go like this.

Round 1: Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson Height: 6-3 Weight: 280

Round 2: Aaron Williams, CB, Texas Height: 6-0 Weight: 204

Round 2 (46th Overall): Martez Wilson, ILB, Illinois Height: 6-4 Weight: 250

Round 3: Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina Height: 6-2 Weight: 309

  33. royalbroncofan1 says:

Marcell Dareus is the logical choice for us as we need an interior DT who’s disciplined with both recognizing the run & pass. Dareus played in pro style defense with Nick Saban. He did bulk up to over 315 lbs so he may be marketing himself for a 3-4 Team. Either way, we could use this bona fide player from the Crimson Tide.
It would be great to see Dareus in Orange n Blue !!

Nick Fairley is another kid who runs with a high motor. Fairley did get alot of media attention after the National Championship, as he had an outstanding game. Oregon did blow some blocking assignments and left him open to make some plays. Fairley seemed to get stronger as the game went on. Questions about his tempermant are due raise some red flags, but he should be a high impact player.

Da’Quan Bowers is being compared to Julius Peppers. Bowers did lead the nation with 15.5 sacks and played with an injury from October on, per his media interview. Mel Kiper has us taking Bowers. OT Anthony Castonzo had some good things to say about Bowers.

  34. strandoftds says:

Thats twice that Shanny got rid of Portis. If the Skins don`t go after a QB with there first round, they might trade back 5 or six spots and draft RB Mark Ingram. As for the Broncos and Portis, I don`t want him back. He`s to old and injury ridden.

  35. strandoftds says:

    new blog

  36. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    1. Dareus
    2. Peterson
    3 Bowers

Just cuz I have Bowers at 3 doesnt mean I dont like him. Like him alot. One of the few that actually like him. ut we are set at DE with Doom and Ayers…We need DT. Dont like Fairleys attitude…I like Dareus attitude, size and play. Dareus it is. But the skill lover in me loves me some Peterson size, speed and talent.

  37. Yovi21 says:

I want Peterson. Just think Peterson, Champ, Atogwe, and Dawk. Talk about a secondary haha we can pick up 2 good linemen in the second! I think Peterson will be an immediate difference maker, I doubt we will grab him, but it would be nice!

  38. baylinorcrush says:

I’d be willing to bet that if we bring Atogwe in it will be with the 6 mil saved on what Dawk is due this year, just like we won’t have two expensive CB in Bailey and Peterson, we won’t have two expensive safeties. Just looking at things from the business side of it.

    But anyone can dream…

  39. royalbroncofan1 says:

    pipe dream anyone……LOL!!!

  40. Yovi21 says:

haha dawk is obviously past his prime too…but if there is a rookie cap peterson will not cost us the big bucks and in 4 years when he is up for a contract renewal Bailey will be finishing up his contract…it will be a perfect switch…We have a 3 2nd and 3rd round picks as of now (hopefully more once he trade Orton) and with the depth this draft has in D-line and linebackers it shouldn’t be difficult to grab some real talent in those rounds…I just feel the risk is worth the reward, besides we could get rid of dawk (not a huge fan of the idea, but oh well) we could just put Peterson at safety…maybe the next Ed Reed…

    Think about it! lol

  41. imready says:

    Fairley

  42. baylinorcrush says:

I’m thinking, I’m thinking….. man that hurts, I just don’t like thinking that much, LOL.

  43. Borrachazo C.R says:

Fairley or Peterson…. It depends on Carolina!

  44. ChargerHater0315 says:

Wow, no love for DaQuan Bowers at all! I like Peterson and what he brings, just not quite able to picture the Broncos drafting him.(Assuming he doesn’t go #1) I think that Bowers brings more to the table than Fairley. Fairley has benefitted from a good showing in the National Championship game but a star isn’t born out of a single game’s performance! (e.g. Larry Brown’s MVP performance in SB 30 and subsequent retreat back into mediocrity after the foolish Raiders made him one of the highest paid players in the league.) Bowers is a better overall prospect than Fairley as far as I’m concerned. I still don’t wanna see Orton shipped off. Tebow is a great competitor, but just not ready to be an NFL QB. Maybe if he gets some time to learn the position from an experienced cat like Orton he can be the guy to lead this team in the future. Worked for Aaron Rodgers. Not that I’m trying to compare Orton to Favre (Although I can only imagine if Orton plays as long as Favre his interception numbers will be far lower than good ol’ #4!) Everybody wants to get Tebow in there to see what he can do and I get that. My argument is why not let Orton get back out there run the offense that he knows and is comfortable with and see where it goes? Better that than sitting there every Sunday making excuses for Tebow saying “Well, he’s young…bound to have a bad game.” Let him learn and grow with the system without throwing him to the wolves right away. When the time is right I think he can be a winning QB in the NFL, but I haven’t seen anything yet that tells me he’s ready. Look at Matt Leinart, capable athlete, good arm, had some decent games but never was truly ready to be out there. Don’t want to see the same thing happen to Tebow.

  45. mark_cooper says:

baylinorcrush…you crack me up flopping around like a pancake up top there, but I agree with you and milehighmajic88 on Bowers and not Fairley.

Saw a few things I didn’t like in the BCS game. The film on Bowers I like so far. BOWERS IS MY PICK.

Some of the mock drafts have us picking Peterson……I like another lockdown on both sides but eventually a receiver gets open without any pressure on the QB, so we need that D-Line spot filled and with a guy that can play TODAY.

Seems like Cam Newton was being pushed higher in the draft a few days ago but seems to keep bouncing around depending on who you ask/read…with the Cowboys even drafting him???? Not sure that would happen. Romo just needs someone to work with him at that spot.

  46. baylinorcrush says:

The pancake flopping was about Dareus over Fairley, not Bowers, but who cares really, it’s not like we matter, haha.

  47. mark_cooper says:

come on ..I care. Dareus really?? Like him but not over Bowers.
