Congrats Floyd Little, HALL OF FAME!!!

February 10th, 2010 - 6:26pm by mark_cooper

Superbowl was a blast to watch and what a spectacular show. It brought back a lot of memories from SB XXI. They just keep getting better and better. If you haven’t been you need to put it on your bucket list and take a credit card with a high balance, you’ll need it. But no kidding worth, the price of admission.

I also like the fact that Pro-Bowl’s the same week, keeps the dollars flowing and the city full of celebrities for almost two weeks. Fans get to see it all in one place.

Picked the Colts yet New Orleans fulfilled the dream town story. GOOD FOR THEM. Reminds you why you have to play the game. Still think Peyton will be the best before it’s over.

Floyd…CONGRATS to another deserving Denver Bronco making it into the HALL OF FAME. I wasn’t here when Floyd was the 7th overall rusher in the league when he retired. What took so long?? I agree. Class act.

It’s been fun hearing all the stories about Floyd’s career as I was a Dolphin fan as a kid and really only followed them. Great accomplishment for a great man. Congrats to Floyd, his family and the entire Broncos Nation and organization.

Funny story from the holidays. I was at a Heisman Trophy fundraiser here in town for the U and had my wife and two boys take a picture with all of us around the Heisman Trophy for our Christmas card. I get a e-mail from a client a week or so ago and they said they didn’t realize that I won the Heisman in college :o ) (open door), most of my clients know I’m a little whacked and like to have fun, so I preceded to tell them, “No I didn’t win the Heisman Trophy”, it was the Budweiserman Trophy that I won. :o )

Anyway, anything for a giggle, right. So now talks all about do you trade for McNabb with Marshall or Dumervil? Newest rumor I know.

What’s your take?

We Don’t want Mcnabb he sucks and he is old i say we keep kyle orton for 4more years draft a Quarterback in the 2nd if any good avaible or get 1 in the free agent and release Chris Simms besides that we are all good i can’t wait to see what josh mcdaniel Does this offseason and draft

  2. baylinorcrush says:

Coop, from what I’ve been hearing the McNabb thing has been dying down, we talked about it at length in the previous post, the fact that he isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, that he doesn’t fit the disciplined character trait that McD wants, the guy is like a kid in a playground regardless of the situation, point proven by the fact he didn’t know that a NFL game can end in a tie, and wondered how the NFL would handle the tie in a playoff or superbowl game… I’m all for having fun on the field, but being the team leader and getting paid millions of dollars for it, I think would bring in as a requirement knowing the overtime rules. Plus he plays the west coast offense, we don’t, the guy is not a fit here for a plethora of reasons, definitely don’t see it happening at all, just a worthless rumor in my eye.

  3. baylinorcrush says:

And I believe Marshall will be traded and Doom will not. Either way, I can’t wait until March 5th, opening day of FA.

  4. brian_schneider says:

Coop, nice blog. Little should’ve been voted in a long time ago in my opinion. After watching some of his highlights, I find myself wondering, where have all those running backs like that gone? Some backs nowadays are lucky if they can break one tackle, let alone mutliple tackles at the same time. You’re right, its about time he got in.

My take on McNabb, unless the Eagles get some awesome offer they can’t refuse, I think McNabb stays an Eagle until next season (if there is a next season) and then Kolb gets the nod. I think Vick may be the one most likely to be traded.
Marshall, we can keep rehasing the same stuff, but only time will tell. Honestly, I think we need to re-sign Dumervil for sure. Everyone is so caught up in retaining Marshall they forget that we have the league’s 2009 sack leader on our team too. Ideally I would like to see our guys get what they deserve as far as contracts.
I think that the Broncos have a figure in mind for Marshall, but they may franchise tag him, see what other offers come up and if they’re numbers are close to others, they may just go ahead and match em. I don’t think we’ll have an issue matching any offer Dumervil may get. Orton, I’m not sure what’ll happen there. All these talks about selecting a QB in the draft in the early rounds has me wondering. I’m still a firm believer that we need to beef up our big uglies. Being undersized was ok in the zone blocking scheme, but everyone is getting bigger and faster and with the power blocking scheme, we are fare too undersized. On the D side, hey lets face it we need to stop the run. Everything no one hasn’t already said LOL!!!!

Hey guys, look at what I came up with, I know it’s just coincidence, but anything that can give us a little hope for the future is well worth mentioning to me:

In 1991 our record was 12-4
    1992 8-8
    1993 9-7
    1994 7-9
    1995 (Shanny’s 1st year) 8-8
    1996 13-3
Notice we went 32-32 between 92 and 95.

In 2005 our record was 13-3
    2006 9-7
    2007 7-9
    2008 8-8
    2009 (McD’s first year) 8-8
    2010 ?-?
Notice we went 32-32 between 2006 and 2009.

Now, would it be far fetch to expect 12-4 in 2010? The exact same scenario, except flip the 12-4/13-3 nineties records to 13-3/12-4. It’s just freakingly identical.

WELCOME TO ANOTHER EPISODE OF THE TWILIGHT ZONE………

  6. brian_schneider says:

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, get me outta here!!! LOL!!

  7. baylinorcrush says:

Anyone who picks us to go 12-4 next year will have to answer to me, or at least give me credit, hahaha, LOL.

  8. broncosmex says:

I pick the broncos can go 12-4 next season :D if McD can address the team in a correct way this offseason.. Nice research baylin :P

  9. broncosmex says:

    to go** sorry

  10. baylinorcrush says:

Thanks broncosmex, I have to say this stuff I unveiled even impresses me, LOL, that’s just tooooo spoooooky, but somehow soooooo real. I have a feeling 12-4 might be a popular prediction, LOL.

  11. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

    baylin

I dont care if we go 12-4 or 9-7 as long as we make the playoffs. My prediction right now is we go 8-8 unless McD drafts better than what we got last year. However, McD had nice pickups in FA so we will see. Is it March 5th yet?

  12. baylinorcrush says:

I never predict until the FA, draft and undrafted picks are all in, sometime in April I’ll be ready to evaluate our chances and make the season prediction. I did that last year and turned out to be 100% correct with my 8-8 prediction. If I wait until pre-season is over to make my prediction, as I have done in the past, I always let my emotions take over my brain and seem to be much further off the mark that when I do it early with only my football brains keeping my emotions at bay.

  13. Orange_Crusher says:

Well if we had McNabb last year he would have probably scrambled for several first downs and we would have won a couple more games to put our record at the 10-6 that I repetedly predicted. But noo, we ended up with a slowpoke QB who couldn’t run 2 yards to save his life from a salty Croc, by Crakie. That just left me real hungry for a plate of pickled crows toes.. I’m just say’n….. lol

  14. florio's_mom says:

i like going 12-4. It shows that you are a quality team but you had to work for it.

Records can really show the teams attitude.

15-1 You were striving for perfection but came up short

13-3 You are a great team and lost those three games by fluke

7-9 You didnt try hard enough

4-12 Every one wasnt on the same page

2-14 you won those games by flukes

0-16 you suck at what you are paid to do

  15. broncosmex says:

baylin do you think we will pick a NT in FA? I just really think that McClane is the best shot with our first pick IMO..

orange_crusher, dont you think we could give Orton another year? He was getting used to McDs offense and he played the second half of the season with a sprained ankle..

  16. S.D.Bronco30 says:

No McNabb he is not the answer, besides he is not close to a fair trade for Marshall or Dumervil IMO. I would be very unhappy to see either of them go for him.

  17. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

If we trade McNabb for Dumervil, i will join sndvl’s fire McDs attitude! Otherwise that better come with a 1st and a 2nd and a time machine

  18. brian_schneider says:

I know a lot of people think McD isn’t too intelligent, but I can assure you he knows that trading the 2009 league sack leader for a 33 yr old QB that has only played in a West Coast offense, to come here and take us to the promise land. That’s just ignorant.

  19. florio's_mom says:

    Hey guys,

Did any of you hear that arena football is making a return, but the Crush isn’t in the new league. (Arena Football 1) Doesn’t Elway still own them? Why wouldn’t they be in the new league?

I loved watching Dutton throw it all over the place.

  20. Orange_Crusher says:

haha, florio you left out 8-8?

  21. Orange_Crusher says:

I’ll only give Orton 4-6 games into the season.. Just like Pat.

  22. baylinorcrush says:

broncosmex, I believe if we do not get a NT in FA, we have to get one with our 1st pick in the draft and since Suh and McCoy will be long gone, I would pick Williams over Cody, just my opinion. McClain gets a lot of rave reviews, but I have seen him a couple of times, like in the title game against Texas, and I found him to be out of position quite often and not being able to close down for the tackle. I am not completely sold on him, even so I realize we need help at ILB to help the D line with stopping the run. We might be better served going with an ILB in latter picks.

  23. florio's_mom says:

8-8 not too bad not too good. hence the .500. lol

  24. Orange_Crusher says:

I’m with cody on this one. If we trade the Doominator I will join charlie “sndvl” in the chocolate factory.

I wouldn’t trade the Doominator for ten McNabbs..

I might consider trading him for Drew Brees or Payton Manning though….kddn

  25. baylinorcrush says:

OC, giving Orton only 6 games next season doesn’t work for me, because I swear this year I rather we start slow and finish strong, I’m so sick and tired of the hot start and nothing to show for it, so with that in mind, even if we are 2-4 we better hold on to Orton at least through November, and like most good teams make that push come November, kind of like the Chargers type of thing, let’s model after them, right guys? LOL.

  26. Orange_Crusher says:

Well it certainly wasn’t a ho-hum 8-8. It was more like a rocket that didn’t hit the third stage then fell back to earth in a flaming heap…lol

  27. baylinorcrush says:

Even McNabb for Marshall would be sick, and coming from me that says a lot about what I think of these rumors, not exactly your ardent Marshall fan here…

  28. florio's_mom says:

If we keep Marshall. Orton really needs to have more confidence. He has 4 quality WR’s and he should really stretch the field out more. And I swear if we have 15 screens a game. I will punch my tv. He could really let it fly if he wanted.

If we draft a QB i think orton woould shut down. He doesn’t out preform any one if there is competition. (Rex grossman)

  29. florio's_mom says:

    well 8-8

    Good:

    Beat the Pats, Cowboys, Chargers

Bad: Lose to the Chiefs, Raiders, Redskins

not to good not to bad. lol

  30. baylinorcrush says:

florio, it’s not Orton not opening it up, it’s McD not letting him, he is the culprit in that regard, you guys are bent on giving it to Orton today, aren’t you? LOL.

  31. florio's_mom says:

Im not mad at orton. I’ve seen him throw deep. I’ve seen WR’s catch deep. Its just a matter of doing it. Hopefully McD will let him feel it out more this year.

  32. baylinorcrush says:

    there you go.

  33. florio's_mom says:

Its that redskins game that was the killer.

I saw Orton light it up and i was like yeah awesome this is what it will be like the rest of the season. And then he craps up his ankle. I knew he wouldn’t be the same.

    That was killer.

  34. Orange_Crusher says:

florio, he doesn’t out-perform anyone at all. Thats kinda the root of my angst with him. Great Guy, yeah but his delivery looks really elongated and slow just like a certain over rated future draft pick we know…lol

Kidding aside, I think most agree that Ort is not the future of the Broncos, so the sooner we find “the future”, the better. imho

  35. florio's_mom says:

In other news… I can’t wait to see what Clancy barone will do for the
    O-line this year.

I guess i’ll see this weekend when I see him speak.

  36. baylinorcrush says:

We can’t rush into it, there are no great QB’s in this year draft in my opinion, this is not the year to experiment with QB’s no better than what we have, let’s patiently wait and see what will be out there next year, we have plenty of other areas to fix now that can be fixed, like the D line which is very deep in the draft this year.

  37. baylinorcrush says:

Where are you going to see him speak, florio?

  38. florio's_mom says:

    A coaches clinic in Denver.

  39. baylinorcrush says:

Good for you, let us know if he talks about the power running scheme and his take on it, better yet, ask him!

  40. florio's_mom says:

    Yeah I will. Im excited.

A bunch of guys will be there. Dan Hawkins, Troy Calhoun, Dave Logan. I can’t wait.

  41. baylinorcrush says:

Antonio Pierce just announced he is being released, ILB, 31, worth a look.

  42. florio's_mom says:

Neck Problems and too many miles.

  43. baylinorcrush says:

Here is a bomb, sort of, just a rumor at this point, this is from INDT (In Denver Times):

The fact that the Rams have found a buyer reminded me of a rumor that snaked its way through the grapevine last week.

There’s talk that the Denver Broncos could be available to be purchased from current owner Pat Bowlen.

And there’s a connection between the Rams and the Broncos. If Shahid Khan will be buying not only the 60 percent of the Rams currently held by Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez but also the 40 percent owned by Stan Kroenke, Kroenke could couple the cash he gets from Shahid with a chunk of his wife’s Wal-Mart money and purchase the Broncos.

Kroenke already owns the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and the NBA’s Denver Nuggets. He reportedly was interested in acquiring controlling interest in the Rams, but the league’s cross-ownership rules require teams in multiple leagues to be located in the same market.

We need to be clear on this one. We’re not saying that the Broncos are for sale; we’re saying that there’s a rumor they’re for sale. And we’re speculating that Kroenke could be interested, especially if he’s cashing out his chips in St. Louis.

  44. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

Unless that QB is LeFevour in the 3rd/4th round, I dont want to draft one.

What is most likely going to be the top 7 QBs next year are:

Jake Locker – Washington – 6’3 226 230 for 395 for 2800 yds 21 TDs 11 INTs (He has the most upside and was considered one of the top 3 QBs in this draft but he wanted to stay for a senior season)
    Christian Ponder – Florida St. – 6’2 219 227 for 330 for 2717 yds 14 TDs 7 INTs
    Jerrod Johnson – Texas A&M – 6’5 243 296 for 497 for 3579 yds 30 TDs 8 INTs
Case Keenum – Houston – 6’2 210 492 for 700 for 5671 yds 44 TDs 15 INTs (Not sure if i want a guy who throws 700 passes in one season)
    Ricky Stanzi – Iowa – 6’4 218 171 for 304 for 2417 yds 17 TDs 15 INTs
    Greg McElroy – Alabama – 6’3 220 198 for 325 for 2508 yds 17 TDs 4 INTs
    Ryan Mallett – Arkansas – 6’7 238 225 for 403 for 3627 yds 30 TDs 7 INTs

  45. baylinorcrush says:

Thanks, Cody, I have heard quite a bit about Locker already, a lot of big guys on that list.

  46. hometeam007 says:

    Baylin—that is a big stretch.

Back to the QB discussion. Orton is the number 1 rated free agent qb this season. and there is not any starters in the draft. So, short of making a crazy deal we need to accept that he is probably going to be here this year. He has a lot of good attributes that I think are worth building on. What would make him the Bronocs qb of the future? The answer is wins. He is poised and professional and complements the team well. He is not a self centered super star. I am fine with that. I wish he weren’t so fragile; but I would be on the IR after just one snap so……. anyway the point is– I like our chances with a healthy Orton. Which means—we need to invest in the O-line, the running game and defense. Look at the success the Jets had this year. Give me some!

  47. florio's_mom says:

Well if anyone would buy the Broncos. It would be Stan.

He already owns like every other Denver sports franchise.

    Wouldn’t be shocked.

  48. broncos20 says:

I like reading all these posts guys,,i visit this site everyday just to read up….
the Mcnabb rumor is pretty etchy..if thats even a word..lol.

I know its out of topic, but here is my take on the FAs.
The Eagles have a bettr chance of landing Peppers..and “rumors” could stirr up more action for them, they have 3 qbs and could be interested in making a move for Shaun Rogers.(keeping Mcnab and trading Kolb or the other way around).if by any chance this turns out real, which I think it might considering the fact that the Redskins have a new offensive guru “shanny” in town (division), those eagles might make a move for Rogers….now which defensive player wouldn’t want to play for those eagles if they have Cole, Witherspoon, Bradley, Samuel, and maybe Rogers playing on D…hence, Peppers could be lured in…

I think Orton will be fine, absolutely..I like the way he carries himself on the field and during interviews, but thats not what wins games..even so I feel confident he’ll get the flow going next season…but it wouldnt hurt to start grooming whoever will be our “franchise” qb..IMO
aiite fellas,,dont grill me on all that…lol..

  49. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

    broncos20,

You make a good point about the Eagles but at the same time, the case could be said about our D with Dawkins, Bailey, Dumervil and DJ among others, if we add Wilfork then Peppers could be lured here as well, especially if we make him a 3/4 DE/OLB opposite Doom, that would be a horrible site to see for QBs
