Congrats to Coaches Dennison, Nolan and Turner. It’s part of the game. I like how the press and everyone jumps to conclusions and wants to point a finger for a coaching change and make a big deal out of it. That’s coaching. One of the main reasons I didn’t go into coaching after football. Someone else is in control of your destiny. Personal choice, that’s all.
Coach Turner is working his way to a head job and deservedly so as the associate head coach in Washington. Rick Dennison and Gary Kubiak go way back to the days we all played together here in the 80′s and he’ll be Gary’s offensive coordinator….kinda figured that was coming. I also think Rick will be a head coach at some point too. Smart guy. Played against him.
Coach Nolan….difference of approach than the head coach? Maybe, but it’s Coach McDaniels Team. He makes the calls and has to live and die by them. The NFL (Not For Long) League is not very forgiving for players and coaches. I run a business like a team, if I can upgrade my staff or have someone that’s not on the same page, you have to make a change.
The NFL is worse. You win or you get fired, traded or cut. (been there done that) Dan Reeves and I didn’t see things the same way and I asked to be cut or traded. Tampa was where I landed. Look at all the head coaching changes already. Tougher business than you’d think. It’s easy to second guess folks, but when you’re in the head coaches seat…it’s always hot. I say, CONGRATS and good luck to each of them. Thanks for your time here. Each has a lot to offer under the right scenario for them.
THIS WEEKS PICKS:
VIKES AND THE OLE MAN FARVE OVER THE SAINTS
COLTS OVER THE JETS
Those are my picks. Vike’s pick is from the heart and the others a professional pick.

I just realize you’re talking about the refrigerator in Alabama, LOL, we get him and McClain, it would probably be a good draft. The Bamabroncos front 7, LOL.
That would be a dream, the only way that happens I think is if marshall gets traded. Take McClain at 10-11 and then with the 1st we get from Marshall take Cody. Or trade back into the first to get him.
To me, it’s a forgone conclusion that Marshall will be traded, so your dream might come true.
Is it possible that Cody would make it into the 2nd round?
Maybe early 2nd round, depends on his combine.
It would be nice if we got McClain and Cody. I don’t agree with the people who said we will get Dez Bryant. The only way that would happen is if we traded Marshall, and even then we don’t need another WR.
Doom, agreed and I believe Dez Bryant can turn out to be one of those egocentric, “me my stats and me” type of player, exactly why McD will probably trade Marshall.
If and when we trade Marshall, we should try and get another WR from that team, just to replace a WR spot on the roster.
But it makes sense that there are people out here who would want to draft Dez if we get rid of Marshall, because they are holding onto whatever is left of a chance to see the exciting kind of football we played when Cutler was here, but those days are far behind, deep down we all know we are going to play without that panache anymore and it’s just hard for everyone to get over it. I miss the big plays too, but I want to win, let’s hope McD can get it done, I don’t care if it’s ugly.
We need a tall receiver, but by no means a priority.
Exactly, Bay. I just want the team to win, I don’t care who plays or what kind of offense is played. As long as they win, I’m happy. Dez got in trouble for lying to the NCAA. This sounds like a “Baby T.O. Jr.” The Broncos don’t need anymore drama in the locker room.
If we can’t get a great NT in the draft,I say we draft either McClain,or Eric Berry(a younger version of Brian Dawkins) hard hitter, great run stuffer, and a great leader, and motivator.I hate to see Marshall go,but I’m certain he’s gone, but we should get a 1st round pick outta him for sure, maybe we can get McClain and Berry.(WOW)THAT WOULD BE A MONSTER DRAFT.!!!!!!!!
I was pulling for Cody, but his stock is falling fast, maybe a 2nd rounder they say.
BFE92:
Berry will probably be gone before we have a 1st round choice, but if we can get a NT and McClain, I would consider it a good draft.
Beast, how you doin? Agree it would be cool but as far as Berry is concerned it wouldn’t make much sense at all, I mean safety is one of our stronger position with Dawk, Hill, Bruton, Mc Bath, I mean we are loaded there, no need for a safety now, IMO.
And I even forgot Barrett.
Dan Williams DT Tennessee could be a good pick up,especially if he falls to us in the 2nd round. He is 6’2-320 pounds, and is a BEAST.
Doin fine Baylin, how about you? I’m just saying players like Berry are hard to pass on if you get a chance to snag a difference maker,it’s hard to pass him up,but he’ll probably be gone anyway.
Here I am saying I rather talk FA than draft for now, and you guys have all suckered me into talking about draft ever since I said that… LOL.
Speaking of FA, who should we be targeting in FA?
Doin fine, thanks, I hear you about getting a difference maker, but this year we have so many needs to be the team we need to be to fit the team concept McD wants, we cannot afford to draft for just talent, we have to draft for needs, just my opinion.
doom, go back to the bottom of the last page, Aussie and I were discussing it a bit.
Like drafting Moreno last year when we needed defensive help, yeah I heard that.LOL
Last year I had us taking Orakpo in the 1st round, that would’ve been great, but it didn’t happen, hope McD uses his head this year.
Beast, you’re not the only one who likes Williams from Tennessee, Woody Paige said he could see picking him in the first round. 6-3, 327.
Even though we could’ve used defense last year, I think Moreno will be good for us for a long time, and we really didn’t have a franchise running back like I think Moreno will be. But your right, Bay, we can’t just draft for talent.
We need NT,OLB,& OL.
Hey,I’ve seen Williams play a lot,he’s a freaking BEAST,for sure.
And DL.
Orapko was available, we passed on him, Redskins snagged him with the very next pick. Moreno, excellent example of the problem of drafting for talent instead of need. At that point in the first round, we did not need a RB, that was a bad pick, plain and simple.
We really do need some good young guards, and center to compliment the best set of o tackles in the NFL.IMO
If we can sure up our running game our defense wouldn’t have to take up the slack.IMO
In a way Moreno was meant to help the defense, by TOP, but that didn’t work out. I remember last year, I was so shocked we over looked Orakpo and took Moreno, we will see in the long run if that was a good choice.
And Williams looks good to. There are a few DT we should really go after.
I actually had us taking Orakpo and Ayers last year in the 1st round.
yeah, we are in agreement, this is my complete list of our needs in order of priority:
A LARGE NT to occupy the middle.
Two BIG DL to stop the run.
A sizable Center and
two BIG Guards to operate the power blocking scheme successfully.
Two STOUT power RB’s.
One DE/OLB to compliment the pass rush opposite of DOOM.
One ILB to stop the run.
One receiving TE with sure hands.
One TALL WR’s.
One full size CB (not a half pint like Phonzy).
Tennessee played Bama this year and lost 12-10.Williams was dominant against the champs.
Beast, I’m buying because that’s who I thought we should also get, I have to say we were the minorities who called for Ayers with #17.
I’ll agree with all that Baylin, and with that said,I’ll talk at you guys later.GO BRONCOS 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You watch the SEC a lot?
Yeah,big Tennessee fan.
baylinorcrush, I like that list, and if they find those guys in that order I will be happy.
That’s not why I’m pushing for Williams though, just know talent when I see it and we could use him.
I also like your list, Bay. If we can get those, we will be a dominant team in 2010.
Unfortunately, it’s just my wish list, man it would be nice if I could make it happen, LOL.
baylinorcrush, for each item on your list who would you want(draft and FA)?
That’s the million dollar question. There are 13 positions on my list, we have 7 picks, we’ll get more trading players, we might have 9 picks, the last two or three probably can’t be counted on for the first year, so we have to get at least 6 or 7 solid free agents to fill whatever we can on the list, then compliment the list in the draft, hence my interest in FA first.
Yeah it will be an interesting year.
It’s like a plan, everybody needs to have one, including fans, LOL.
I forgot who mentioned it but if we do get Pees we can have a better leverage of getting Vince Wilfork. Im all for Pees IF we can get Wilfork.
I dont understand why people have us takking Dez Bryant another trouble maker(someone else mentioned it). So I doubt McD drafts Bryant. Also we still need to see what McKinley is capable of. If we do trade Marshall away wich I hope we dont I still dont see us taking a WR maybe in the late rounds. Because I think any WR can excel in McD system alla Gaffney. So no need for WR.
I like what Berry brings to a team but he’s not a necesaty. We still got Bruton and a promising McBath(I predicted we would draft him I SWEAR!!!)
If we could get Cody or Price in the second round that would be AWESOME.
Trade Scenarios:
Trade Marshall to Baltimore for their 1st and hopefully a 3rd. The Ravens really need a WR and I think they would be willing to take a chance on Marshall. If not maybe the Jets are willing so Sanchez can progress. i would prefer Marshall to land in the NFC but I dont see any team there in need of a WR. I would have said Seattle but that would just give us back our 1st and we would just be giving them a talented WR.
I still hope we dont trade Marshall away.
I hate to say it but Scheffler is DEFINETLY GONE. I dont see us getting more than a 3rd but if we can get a late 2nd that would be preety good.
If we do trade Marshall to the Ravens for their 25th pick we should go after Brian Price. If trade him to the Jets for their pick(29th-32nd) I still want Price but wouldnt mind Cody.
So assuming we have 2 first round picks Im hoping we get McClain and Price. That would leave us with A LOT of options in the 2nd -7th round. Maybe in the 2nd round we can get a DE and with 3 3rd round picks assuming we get 1 from the Marshall trade and Scheffler and our very own we could move back up to the 2nd and take maybe a CB since Champ and Goodman are aging and Smith is to small for a starting CB. Or we could get a big OG like Iupati. So many options!!
The day before the draft im going to write my wish list. I hope we get 1 player I picked just like last year(McBath).
FOREVER A BRONCOS FAN!!!!
Since FA and draft seem to be the topic of discussion, figured I would weigh in with my thoughts. For what its worth.
Aubreyo Franklin is #1 in my book. Though it looks like SF will place the franchise tag on him, maybe a package with Marshall?
Wilfork will most definitely be resigned by New England. IMO So I say look in the draft!
DE- this is where I think we should focus on. Elvis BETTER be resigned. And with LB type coin!!!!! McD— Show him the $$$
Next on my list is Johnny Jolly from GB. 27 years old,6-3 and 325, run stopping is his specialty! Could also double as a DT!
2nd DE, is not Seymour, like a lot of people are clamoring for, but a smart savy veteran. The type of person that would be a steal in the mold of Goodman and Andre Davis- Reggie Hayward. Yes that Reggie Hayward. 31 years old, 6-5 and 275. He got hurt in the 1st game of the season. Think he had an achilles injury a few years back, but we could make a serious effort to get him, for a good price too….
Which might leave more money for our OL needs. Tackles are not an issue. Im a BIG fan of Wiegmann. A true iron man. Really. Has started every game in the last 8 years. EVERY GAME IN THE LAST 8 YEARS! But, undersized for the power blocking scheme we are moving to. He is still under contract for one more year, so maybe draft. Justin Hartwig, C from Pittsburgh will be available. 6-5 and 315. Plus only 31 years old.
The 2 guards I really like, and hope we get one of them. Nick Cole from Philly, 26 y/o, 6-0 and 350. Then the Patriot, Logan Mankins, who I’m sure McD is salivating over. 28 y/o, 6-4 and 310.
The running game, we need a power back, to compliment KM. Hillis is my first choice, but McD refused to use him, so I don’t see him being used next year, no matter what crap he tried to feed us in the video conference. So there is one in FA that kinda piques my interest and that is Lendale White!6-1 and 235. 25 y/o and a Denver native. Though, I see him going to Seattle to be the feature back. Maybe one in the draft?!?
I really feel we have most of the pieces in place in the other positions. WR good, QB good, CB and Safety good, LB good. TE is the last question mark. Oh almost forgot about ST. Are kickers really football players though? lmao and seriously, just kidding! Prater is all-pro. Should be fine at punter. Maybe a 1st rd pick at that position…
We all have our wish lists though. And as Baylin pointed out, we are just some know nothing fans… GO BRONCOS 2K10!!!!!!!!!!
