Cliché Finish!!

November 29th, 2011 - 1:04pm by mark_cooper

Cliché, you bet!! TEAMWORK, the cliché nobody talks about anymore. Teamwork on Defense, Special teams and Offense and thank you Decker and McGahee.

Thank you offensive and defensive lines, thank you LBer’s and DB’s…you get the point. A total team effort. I didn’t know what to say sitting on the edge of my couch saying WOW!!! They’re going to pull this out or San Diego is going to give this away…back and forth, back and forth. Exhausting!!

Two teams fighting to the bitter end and BELIEVING THEY COULD WIN!

What gets any better than that??? Really what?

P.S. Thank you coaching staff. Little worried about the way the defenses are starting to read the option.

Can’t wait to hear your feedback.

GO BRONCOS!!!

AGREED, 100% TEAM EFFORT, GO BRONCOS!

I agree about worrying that defenses are figuring out the option. But at the same time, it seems like they might have it figured out for 3.5 quarters, then all it takes is a couple wrong guesses, and we’re off to the races. Just like the running game physically wears down an opponent, McCoy’s option offense, with all the various wrinkles he’s coming up with can wear down an opponent psychologically.

Which means that our D has to keep doing what it has been doing so very well – keeping TDs off the opposing board. I like how they talk about being a “grinding” team. That’s an identity that could take us a long way.

    GO BRONCOS!!!

    FOX BALL!

  4. baylinorcrush says:

    D minded team

    Heavy running game

    No turnovers

Add to that good ST and we got ourselves a winner.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

    YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHHH, we’re winning again!

No more stupid looking to get throwing completions and yardage records from the old O that added up to nothing.

Coop, the defenses might be able to start reading our option, but their problem is, which are we going to line up in and which are we going to play. McCoy has developed so many different looks, it is almost confusing to see them line up, and when TT audibles, it really throws the defenses into a dither. Amazing. Just think, they said this wouldn’t work. Seems to be working just fine so far. With the passing game coming around, and TT’s running ability, the defense doesn’t have enough folks to cover everybody the way they need to be covered so things might start to get a lot better for us.

This is a bit off topic, but I need help with something. I am new to watching football, and have been trying to learn as I go along by watching the Broncos this season. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chargers kicker Nick Novak attempted a field goal in overtime on Sunday, but missed. However, something happened, and I’m not sure what, that allowed him another immediate attempt, which he also missed. Would anyone please explain to me what exactly happened?

Thank you for your willingness to help out a newbie to the game!

  8. seweatherman1 says:

One last thing. After each one of these games TT has been the first to praise the team in getting the win. I have yet to hear him take any credit for anything, yet, the media continually goes into the locker room or wherever to interview some of the players and immediately throw it to them “What do you think of TT as a qb and winning the way he is?”

I just hope that the media giving TT sole credit for these wins does not turn the players against him. That is possible isn’t it?

    Cheers Coop!

Worried too about defenses now beginning to read our option offense. I’d like more Ws in an easier way, without spitting chunks of my heart after each game. But it’s fun!

    Go Broncos!

    Minx,
Just prior to the snap for the 1st field goal, Coach Fox called time out. That negated that kick and gave them another shot at it.

This is a ploy used around the league to “freeze” the kicker in hopes that he will miss on his next attempt.

    Tebow’s Quietly Historic Production
There are two underlying reasons why Tebow is so effective, two reasons that explain his impressive Real Quarterback Rating week after week.

    1. He gets the ball in the end zone more often than any QB in football today
    2. He protects the football better than any QB in football today

The Broncos clearly have not scored a lot of points with Tebow at quarterback. In fact, Denver has averaged just 19.3 points per game in Tebow’s six starts and has scored 18 points or fewer in five of those games. And clearly, the defense has improved dramatically in recent weeks, either purely as coincidence or as a by-product of the fact that Tebow has helped the team improve in all areas by protecting the football.

But Tebow himself has been deadly with the ball in his hands. He produces touchdowns at an amazing clip, better than any quarterback in football in his brief career. Here’s a comparison of Tebow vs. some of the more prolific quarterbacks in recent history.

Career percentage of touches that result in a TD:
    Tim Tebow — 6.0 percent
    Aaron Rodgers — 5.7 percent
    Peyton Manning — 5.5 percent
    Tom Brady — 5.1 percent
    Drew Brees — 4.7 percent
    John Elway — 3.9 percent

Wow! Tebow may not pass the ball effectively. But he’s produced an incredible 22 touchdowns (13 passing, nine rushing) in just 368 touches (225 pass attempts, 121 rush attempts, 22 sacks). Nobody in football gets the ball in the end zone more often.

More importantly, Tebow takes incredibly good care of the football. We track something at Cold, Hard Football Facts called the “interception ladder.” It shows us that every interception decreases your chances of winning by about 20 percentage points. In other words, interceptions are destructive plays that severely limit a team’s ability to win games.

But the Broncos are winning not just because Tebow protects the football, but because he protects it better than any QB in the game today. Here’s how he stacks up against some of the more prolific QBs in the game today.

    Career interception percentage:
    Tim Tebow — 1.78 percent
    Aaron Rodgers — 1.83 percent
    Tom Brady — 2.2 percent
    Drew Brees — 2.71 percent
    Peyton Manning — 2.75 percent
    John Elway — 3.1 percent

Add in that Tebow has lost just one fumble in his career (with four INT) and his turnover rate is an incredibly miniscule 1.4 percent.

Tebow has suffered just two turnovers all year, one interception and one fumble. Both of those turnovers came in the Detroit game, his lone loss this year. He has a clean slate, zero turnovers, in Denver’s five victories this year.

We’re not trying to extrapolate too much out on Tebow’s career. Clearly, he’s played only a handful of games. The other passers on those lists played over the long haul. A lot can change between here and the end of his career — whenever and wherever that may come.

But for right here, and right now, Denver is winning because Tebow is consistently the best and most productive quarterback on the field.

    Hello folks :)

Look at Bay, having fun again! LOL!

You know what I think could play into Denver’s benefit? The season is winding down right? All 31 teams knows 2 things for certain. 1) We like to run the option and 2) We don’t throw to often.

I would like to focus on the #2

I said after the chargers game that I felt Tim looked more composed throwing the ball. We relied heavily on the run and it paid huge dividends. However, to no surprise there is STILL talk about Tim not being able to throw. Apparently the majority is not willing to say there is progress like Mr. Fox stated on Monday. So what if? What if what I think are very large strides towards accuracy come to fruition? What then? Oh my! You mean we have to watch for passes?

My point is I think in the very near future there is going to be a game where the pass was the key. When that first Td or 2 happen, look out…because now you’ll see NFL teams totally confused! Is it a “typical” RB run play, an option, an option read with a pass to give Tim time…..

Ladies and gentleman, Tim is getting more comfortable by the week…It is my humble opinion that the NFL is in for a rude awakening. I believe that this constant struggle to try and stop the option is going to leave them wide open for dangerous plays in the passing game.

Then have fun shuffling that stuff around!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  14. whitebronco#1 says:

Coach Fox called a time out just before the first field goal attempt (to “ice” the kicker for the next attempt). So, no-play (and the blocked field goal attempt didn’t, either). Novak had to kick it again, but failed.

Now, I don’t know if learning football watching the Broncos is a good idea right now. Maybe the defensive side. Our D is playing great! But we’re not using right now a traditional pro-offense scheme. So, you won’t figure out a lot, but you will surely have a lot of exciting fun! lol.

    Go Broncos!

  15. Broncfalls says:

    royalbroncofan1,

Hey, thanks for the read! good post! kinda of interesting! Even though we are really excited about our Broncos, I can understand some time the eye brow raising when discussing our beloved Broncos.

I thought it was good that the author stated hey a lot can happen but for right now, you have to look at this stuff and wonder what this kid is capable of….that’s what I read into anyways….

    The Minx,

    Welcome to Bronco football!

Contrary to what whitebronco#1 posted….WATCH BRONCO OFFENSIVE FOOTBALL! I’ll tell you why….

Right now your Broncos are using a high school offense to wreak havoc in the NFL and it’s driving them nuts! LMFAO!

I told a friend of mine in the bar during the chargers game who couldn’t understand our offense the following:

Out here in stick land Illinois, it is common to find some guy who has taken a 10 speed bicycle that we have ALL owned at some point and uses it to go all over. Basic bike right? Not flashy! Boring! not very fast or sporty right?

Well….these modern day marvels have put a gear, gas tank and weed eater engine on the thing and they now get there a little bit faster!

I don’t understand it! I don’t know why anyone would ever want one! I don’t know where to get one! All I know is that every time I see one I can’t help but watch and wonder how and the hell does that work!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  19. Broncfalls says:

I can’t wait til Ponder realizes meets 58 and 92!

Can you imagine how fast they are going to be. Miller and Doom in a dome!!! uh….o.k….have fun with that!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  20. baylinorcrush says:

I heard that one before! LOL, just kidding.

Thanks Coopster. Without the DEFENSE the BRONCOS lose this game. Oh ya, awesome ST as of lately. A great team effert once again.

baylinorcrush & Broncfalls….explain the the Bird thing?? I have a feeling it coud be funny?

royalbroncofan1, nice post and ststa…love that stuff, very interesting

Hey All, by the way. I wait till the team gets their information out and then my posts will follow, so be patient with my postings, you guys are the best and I enjoy the banter. :o )

  23. baylinorcrush says:

Coop, Broncfalls is sending something my way, I will let you know when the eagle has landed. I have no idea whether it’s funny yet.

  24. The Minx says:

    Dear seweatherman1, whitebronco#1, and broncfalls,

Thank you so much for your help! I do not come from an athletic or sports-watching family and have wanted to know for years how football worked. I had trouble understanding it just reading it on my own and knew I needed someone to explain it to me.

I just want to say how helpful Broncos fans have been to me. Since I don’t have an athletic background, it’s taken me a while to grasp some concepts of the game, and all the Broncos fans I have asked for help have been so patient and so enthusiastic to help me. I don’t know why that is, because with the exception of a friend who is a Green Bay Packers fans and one who is a Bengals fan, when I have asked for help learning the game from fans of other professional teams, many of them have gotten impatient and sarcastic with me because the rules and such of the game didn’t come as quickly or as naturally to me as it did to them.

So, all this to say, thank you again for your help. I am most grateful.
