Clady versus Mario

August 8th, 2008 - 4:04pm by mark_cooper

O.K. you all are slipping a little out there. Clady versus Mario? Wut up? :o ) I thought you all would have had this on the radar screen long before I mentioned it…..? You aren’t asleep out there are you? I know it’s preseason and you may remember my comments last year on preseason….zzzzzz, but this years different…young team, new lions on the field, let’s go baby!!!

Mario: 14 sacks, 3rd sack King in the league last year.
Clady: Rookie

I like Clady!! This will be a good warm up for him to see a big guy that can fly.

Oh yea, when did Alex Gibbs get back in the game. Gary Kubiak must have made the call. I haven’t talked to Alex in a long time, miss his yelling at the top of his lungs at me…not. :o )

So what’s your call? W or L…….?

I’ve thought about this matchup for a while. I think it’s a great first game for Clady…start with one of the better opponents so he’s able to fully gauge his progress and current level. Afterward, he’ll know some things that he needs to work on and be brutally faced with game time speed. I think he’ll do well and even if he struggles, I think he has the ability to adapt and progress. Having Williams in the first game will give him maximum opportunity to do so before the Oakland game.

W or L? I don’t care in pre-season but I think Denver wins simply because of the number of young lions who are fighting for exposure and hungry to hit someone for real.

I see this as a interesting matchup as well. For sure its going to be good practice for Clady. I am waiting to see how the first unit does. I know its just preseason but this is when I start getting hungry for football again, thankfully most of Broncos Country is optimistic for this year. GO BRONCOS!

I am more interested about Ryan Harris I saw him play as a Freshman at the right tackle spot. I think he played better as a right tackle. He will be facing bigger and not as fast DE’s as apposed to speed rushers. It could be a nice combo of Kuper and Harris on the right side, and Clady, Harris as young tackles on the outside.

After the smackdown last year lets go get a W in Texas.

    Go Broncos!

I think the tackle positions are certainly intriguing, and I like the early possibilities of being set there for many years to come with Clady and Harris. However, I am far more concerned about Ben Hamilton being over the post-concussion syndrom and Tommy Nalen holding up for another year calling the signals in the trenches. I like the move to shore up the center position with Weigmann, but I am still a bit concerned about the guard position right now…we expect a ton out of our guards and they have to produce to make that running game humm.

Weigmann is like 10-12 years pro so i think that he could be good for a year or two but in that time we need to find some younger depth.

Jury’s still out and the tackles being a dominant force. We have some work to do and I’m glad it’s still preseason because we need the work. The pace will start picking up with each game as we near regular season and take a few minutes in each game to see if you can see the difference and it will actually amaze you compared to the opener.

I’m headed to the Cowboys game this weekend so if your around the Alumni tent prior to the game stop by and say hi, please do, it’d be nice to match a face with a blog name. :o )

I’ll have more details by the end of the week.

HEY!! one more thing, how about the Olympics and Michael Phelps tied for the most gold medals with Mark Spitzs and Carl Lewis, pretty cool stuff, huh?

    GO TEAM USA!!!
