Back in the Bronco Saddle, who ya want?

July 26th, 2011 - 7:53am by mark_cooper

OK, I know you broncomaniacs have been at it behind the scenes and I stepped out of the blogo-sphere for a while because I was honestly tired of all the speculation. Did the Mac and Doog show a number of times over the past few weeks and was pretty fed up with the finger pointing and who said what stuff…….had enough of that bad press on both sides…….to an attitude of let’s see how all this plays out………………so here we are.

Still don’t have all the details and on how it affects the retired guys like myself as I said, “Show me how the additional benefits will be handled accounting-wise”. So far everything I read sounds good BUT you never really know until you can read it to REALLY know what it says. Outside that, you know what???

I’m really excited that FOOTBALL IS BACK and we’re ON!!!

So tell me your main thoughts on Orten being on the blocks and who you really would like to see as we’ve seen some moves already today with McNabb and others being signed to their current teams?

Love to hear your TAKE?

I want Orton to stay, but only if he’ll be a good boy. Otherwise, hopefully we can sign Delhomme and get a good pick for Orton (3rd?). Get McGahee, a few DT’s and we’re good to go.

    A Defensive tackle!

    Hey MC!
Definitely need to move Orton, and let Tebow play to see if he can lift this franchise up! Have you checked out his The Chosen One videos… they are on youtube now.
I am soooo glad that he has a chance with our Broncos.

Question for all the past season ticket holders…. When Tebow
does the *clutch* play (pass or run… or both!)

    does the MH crowd chant…..

    You’ve Been….

    TEE – BONED!!!
;) GOOOOOOO BRON COOOOOOOOOS !!! TE-BONED da Faiduhs in Week1

I think Orton will get traded to the Rams and reunite with Josh. Maybe Bradford could have a hard time understanding McD’s system and Orton would be the perfect tutor.

Just a little ol’e third round pick and bye bye Orton pie…..lol

It’s great to have you back Coop!

    IT’S TEBOW TIME!!!!!!

    ILMSDB!!!!

I like the Orton trade. Unfortunately the guy is just not a winner. I think we’ll get good value. I’d love to see DeAngelo Williams and Brandon Mebane in a Broncos uniform.

  6. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I swear people just like to call Orton, Orten … maybe Oroton should change his name lol.

Brandon Mebane alone would make my FA … other than that … any DT i guess. I beleive in our edges … no so much our middle tho lol. TRB out.

    welcome back Coop.

  7. BeastFromEast92 says:

Hey Coopster, glad you’re back dude,I for one want Mebane DT Seattle!

I think Orton would be better off going to a team where he can start, and Tebow is primed to take over for the Broncos Field General position!!!

  8. BeastFromEast92 says:

Man I read that the Cardinals are willing to trade Antonio Cromartie and a draft pick(not a #1) for Kolb or Orton,Mr. Elway you listening??????

  9. sndvl says:

Glad to see you back MC!

Seems like Orton is old news already. Speculation rampant. Seattle and Tennessee seem to be out of the mix. What impact will Carsons “retirement” have on the market? Is Miami front runner? Will the Desert birds pay the seemingly steep price for Kolb? What about team Shanahan and a reuniting with Rex? Is it possible he returns to the NFC North? Ole neckbeard would fit right in with those purple people eaters! Personally, I think he should stay, lest I be vilified (yet again), cuz honestly it would not hurt Tebow one bit to sit and learn one more year. Worked for Rodgers in GB! (granted KO isn’t Favre, but Orton isnt terrible either).
I’m more interested in who we may add. Not get rid of!

  10. 3rdGeneration says:

Welcome back Coop. Glad to see you’re back in the saddle.

  11. Nobodytheghost says:

Tim Tebow all the way. And we want Dummerville back.

  12. baylinorcrush says:

Coop, nice to see YOU’re back in the Bronco saddle, good for you, good for us, welcome back.

  13. baylinorcrush says:

Funny I just talked about how I hoped you would be back in the previous blog, ESP I guess.

  14. strandoftds says:

Coop, missed you bro. WE`RE HERE!!!!

  15. keithschear says:

Tebow is a good QB but I think he needs Orton to show him the way Orton is familiar with the broncos offense so I think it would be a mistake to let Orton go and bring someone else in with no experience with this offense.

Thanks guy and gals, I appreciate the vote of confidence. I try to bring another look/idea/thought as a past player. “YOU ALL” make me better because often you have some insight I missed that’s what keep this interesting. There are some really “In the know folks here” and I miss stuff during the day being at the office or with clients so I try to catch up in the early morning and late night on Cable and radio.

Be interesting to see if the Dolphins stay in the game after signing Reggie Bush, reported this morning. Orton is $6M to the cap so there’s the number I keep hearing. BUT what’s funny is we’re not seeing the passion and heat for trading him like was here when we traded Cutler….kinda funny. What’s up? :o )

Tebowtown…and I like him and this is the perfect scenario inwhich to start him and get some reps rebuilding the team and get experience.

Some good comments above but keithschear we will have a new offense so Orton would have to learn it too, if he stayed.

1nOnlyTRB, ya got me on the spelling…I must of been thinking about Dr. Suess…LOL

So the Patriots hit it out of the Park with Haynesworth, The CB from Oakland Nnamdi Asomugha may land at the Jets another great signing.

I don’t know about you guys but so far this has been a fun week to watch who gets signed, who gets cut, who gets resigned and for what $$$$$…some big money flying around out there. Kind of like winning the lottery…can’t even imagine.

The retired player dollars sounded big at first but no details still on how it will be implimented. I’ve been on the Mac and Doog show AM1510 or FM93.7, Mile High Sports Radio numerous times and most of last year weekly and will continue to give them my 2 cents as I get the numbers and the number of actual players that it really affects. When you say pre-93 guys they are all over 49 or so years old and the average life expectancy is 52-54 depending on who you ask so we’ll know more later on that note and many have already taken their pensions due to the life expectancy charts????, soooooo, we’ll see.

The CAP will dictate who we do or don’t go after of get since they changed it this year.

  17. mark_cooper says:

Looks like things have cooled with the Dolphins and Orton so it will keep things interesting in this negotiation because Orton has a ton of value without doubt and is a viable starter in any systemand Kolb kind of set the standard and how about Ocho to the Patriots with Haynesworth.

Nnamdi to the Eagles shocked me when I thought that would be icing on the cake for the Jets that are sniffing a Superbowl and (close)and then McGahee another CANE here to compliment Moreno in the backfield.

No to be too repetitive but as a fan of the game I’m enjoying watching all the moves and motives explained for the moves. Hey…the Bucs punter Koenonen ust got $19.5M with $16M guaranteed. WOW!, better gets your kids out there playing “kick the can” after hearing that one. :o )…I know, I know, I’m dating myself :o )

  18. 07elway says:

Hey Coopster!! Loooooooooooooong time no see. So glad to have football back in action! Can’t wait for this season to start.

Just wanted to drop in and say hey.
