All QB’s looked good to me.

August 12th, 2011 - 12:10pm by mark_cooper

So will my title start a new QB controversy….nah. I liked what I saw out of everyone and I have to tell the truth, I had my little guys football practice last night till 8pm. Creek Bruins 12year olds (GREAT GROUP) by the way and having a blast teaching them hands, feet, body position, HOLDING :o ) and few other tricks of the trade…SO I missed the first part of the game but caught as much as I could afterwards on NFL Network and switched around for all the highlights and the late news and early shows this morning.

Great comments on the last blog. As you can tell I have a different perspective on things often as a former player. Overall I thought it was a good game for the fellas only being together for such a SHORT time as a new staff and players andhaving such a short camp and the lack of contact that the have these days. HAVE to share a comment that was made during the negotitations that you may not have heard. Someone made the comment, that the owners, “gave the players everything they could possibly want, except for someone to play for them’. Is that funny of what???? I had to laugh BUT I also have to say, it will be interesting when we compare this year versus past years injuries?

I don’t want anyone to get hurt but you have to wonder if guys have had enough contact and the new guys enough reps to be competitive. I think a few guys will get cut that just never had enough of a chance to be seen in action….will be interesting to watch over the next few years.

BACK TO THE GAME..I enjoyed what I saw and thought for the short amount of time together the offense looked ALOT better than I expected. Same with the Defense and we didn’t get to see a lot of the #1′s so I hold those comments a bit.

Pre-season is a tough time to judge a team, both offensively and defensively but it was fun to get cranked up.

Oh yea, on the fishing thing that got out of hand and I never commented on because it wasn’t worth it. I fish Celebrity charity (catch and release tournaments) 80% of the time and I host one September 22-24 in Basalt that have raised $MM of dollars that have impacted lives of folks with Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis..no regrets. The tournaments buy science. It’s a passion of mine since leaving football. A lot of you know that I do them on weekends during the season so I’m late commenting sometimes. So yep still fishing when I’m not doing the family thing/kids football coaching or selling real estate. :o ) I work to fish.

Love to hear your thoughts.

DUIs don’t just happen one time. The stats behind how many times people drive impaired to the first time they get caught is unreal.

I have family members that have gotten multiple DUIs and am very ashamed to admit that I have been impaired too many times to count while driving.

I know the last time though, October 14th, 2009. I was driving home from a friends house after consuming way to much alcohol to be driving. I was turning a corner and lost control of my car. I straightened it out and was driving on the wrong side of the road until I saw headlights approaching me. I pulled off the side of the road. Parked my car and called a cab. It was at that moment, that I swore to never drive impaired again. For me, I am more than fortunate that that is what it took, to click in my head to knock it out.

Four days later, a friend that I was drinking with that night, was driving impaired, passed out and wrapped his car around a telephone pole. He died 3 days later.

I am sharing this story to illustrate, that bad things happen to good people due to bad decisions. My friend was one of the most honorable people that I had ever met, with one bad decision, his life ended and he will be remembered by some as just another drunk who killed himself.

Hey Austin, (to be fair), how do you keep Orton out of your front yard? Put in a goal line…

Just trying to keep the playing field level. I get to hear how much of a choke artist Orton is a thousand times a day. Geeesh

  3. sndvl says:

    Thanks Stevecan2

Call a cab, call your friend, call your mom. (in case of the NFLers call the limo service).

  4. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, but your guy is the starter!

And no problem as to keep Orton out of my yard, I have ample supply of Orton-Be-Gone. haha.

  5. royalbroncofan1 says:

Thanks for sharing your story stevecan2 – There has been alot of tragedy over DUI’s. It’s like taking a revolver and loading one bullet…. russian roulette. You knever know what round will take you out but eventually one will. Better to have a DD or call a cab.

  6. randy2191 says:

so what do you guys think.. henne threw 2 ints already.. maybe this will get things fired up in miami for orton again?

  7. Atwater4HOF says:

    randy-

Miami can not be pleased and you can bet their fans will be booing him even more when he returns to the practice field and even at their preseason home opener. Who knows maybe they’ll make a play at Quinn… they can’t be satisfied with their QB situation

  8. Atwater4HOF says:

In contrast, Grossman looks good in DC right now.

For some reason I think he’s going to have a good year. He’s another QB that in that had no weapons around him. Quinn and Grossman are very similiar to me in terms of just needing to find the right situation.

  9. stevecan2 says:

way off subject here. I do it often….. Are there any on going Free Fantasy Leagues going on with the fine folks on these boards?

  10. Atwater4HOF says:

QBs like Rodgers, Manning, Brady, Big Ben, Brees can make WRs that are typically not great, look amazing.

  11. randy2191 says:

quinn for a 4th rounder in 2012 or quinn for two 5th rounders 2011/2012.. sounds like a good deal haha

  12. Atwater4HOF says:

    13-17 152 yds and a TD

not a bad stat line for Grossman against the Steelers D

  13. broncosfreak30 says:

Haha the Chiefs just had their 2nd fumble!!! Tell you the truth, and yes i KNOW its preseason, I am most impressed by our team throughout the 1st preseason games…hopefully it stays like that throughout the entire preseason!!

  14. Atwater4HOF says:

Lions look awfully impressive too. A healthy Stafford could finally get them back to the playoffs

  15. randy2191 says:

cassel hasnt even thrown a pass yet

  16. randy2191 says:

I think if henne plays another bad game like today next week and moore keeps up on his 3 and outs this week and next i bet the dolphins start gettin desperate

  17. killerkod says:

I’m anticipating a BMarh Blowup with Henne in the near future. The guy can’t get him the ball……or anyone for that matter. Makes me appreciate what we have here behind center!

  18. stevecan2 says:

I just read about the Packers going to the Whitehouse to meet President Obama… I remember when John Elway turned down the invite from President Clinton and went golfing instead. Forever classic JE moment in my book.

  19. randy2191 says:

i thaught they already went and gave him a jersey? .. i think its funny though cuz isnt he a bears fan?

  20. stevecan2 says:

they did, i just read about it though. yes, he is a Bears fan, and a Whitesox fan. Southside!! lol

  21. stevecan2 says:

I just thought it noteworthy on how Elway refused. I personally don’t care who is President, I haven’t and won’t turn down an offer to meet any of them. I have met George Bush43, Bill Clinton and Barak Obama. A good friend of mine had a picture with President Obama holding his daughter. I got to actually speak to him for about 5 seconds, lol.

  22. MillerTime58 says:

I personally believe anyone caught driving while under the influence, should be tried for attempted murder. Most of the time when there is an accident, they kill someone and they walk away unhurt.

  23. randy2191 says:

i have never met a president.. got a letter from Clinton through the school once for grades.. im pretty sure it was fake and thousands of other kids got them to though lol

  24. HomeTeam007 says:

Guys, I was re-watching the Broncos game from yesterday anf just wanted to mention for the short time he was out there Orlando Franklin just crushed Dallas, running the ball. At one point he was pushing three Cowgirls to make room for Moreno. It is amazing how good some openings on the line make a running back look! Mays was on fire too. He was just a little too eager on the one long run play by Felix Jones. He had him in the backfield and just over shot the tackle. Didn’t wrap up. Lots of good things in our Defense. I am excited to sse what the full line up can do.

This QQ is just getting started. Orton is who we thought he is!!!!

  25. stevecan2 says:

to me it’s an honor, putting political ideology aside, they are still the most powerful man (soon enough woman) in the world. The only politician i have ever been personally disgusted by was Vice President Biden. At a union rally here in Vegas, he made some off the cuff remarks about the city I love, (off record) and is just over all an unlikable guy.

  26. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Sorry to hear about your buddy Steve. It truly is a shame that that is probably what he will be remembered. But to the people that know him best Im sure it won’t be that way.

Imready, Bay has a point, when I read your post it sounded very condecending but since he had already addressed it I felt no need to and its rarely my style. But I get your point, I am often the person always saying players get a bum rap like they don’t do dumb stuff and act “selfish” things that regular humans do. But at the end of the day Kids think ANYTHING they do is cool sooo … trade off of fortune and fame. Might not be a big deal cuz everyday people do it all the time, but even they shouldn’t be doing it and u acknowledged u werent condoning such things.

Haha, yea sndvl, we bust Ortons chops alot but thats because he has like 7 years more experience than Tebow and has been annointed the starter. Heavy is the head that wears the crown …. or something like that LMAO.

I had a feeling henne would suck. I was actually thinking he might get hurt and that would get Miami interested again, but maybe the INTs is enough lol . Later Days, TRB

  27. 1nOnlyTRB says:

wow KC is stinking up the joint. And Lions are playing as good as i expected. They had a potent passing attack and a good record last year without stafford. They will be good this year. Thats what happens when u draft in the top 5 for the past like 5 years LMAO … what they really needed is a OL that can keep stafford from getting hit. Protect the franchise, Megatron will do the rest lol. TRB

  28. broncosfreak30 says:

    Hey TRB..

What’s going on bro? Have you been playing the Madden 12 demo at all???

  29. broncosfreak30 says:

Haha dang it looks as if KC wont even score at all tonight!! They look to be struggling in this game!

  30. BeastFromEast92 says:

bay…..can’t believe you’re taking all the crap from you know who!!!!!!!!

  31. 1nOnlyTRB says:

BF30, yea ive been playing it. Feels very wierd. I don’t like the speed. Camera angles don’t feel the same. Tackles are over exagerated. Hate the new kicking system, hate the visuals (its hard to see stuff) … they moved the score and time bar, which throws me off. Flipling a coin and all that too. Just alot of gettign used to but since its come out, thats the only madden i play just to get used to it. TRB out..

  32. BeastFromEast92 says:

BTW………just sprayed my driveway with some weed killer, and mixed in some Orton-B-Gone…..don’t think I’ll have any problems with him stepping out in my driveway,I still love my Broncos, and will ride the wheels off the Tebow train!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. strandoftds says:

    BFE, Whats up BRO!!!!???

  34. strandoftds says:

    LMAO!!!

  35. strandoftds says:

    GO TEBOW!!!!

  36. strandoftds says:

    Prater, what were you thinking??

  37. strandoftds says:

BFE, yo BFE, where`s my brewski bro!? HaHa!!

  38. randy2191 says:

reading the comments from the dolphins fans on the game blog there not calling for orton there calling for tebow and some seem to think they could get him haha

  39. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Hey strand whats up bro?

If anybody is interseted they are showing the Denver/Dallas replay on NFL Network right now just started!

  40. BeastFromEast92 says:

strand, got plenty of brewskis bro…………..but you are too far away, lol.

man I can’t believe they run, run, run, and then Orton chokes in the redzone, actually I can believe it,I watched it all season last year!!!!!!!!!

They could have runned it in for a TD the first drive,Dallas couldn’t have stopped them….seems like live coverage to me,since I didn’t get to watch it live last night…….ORTON SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fox you better not rely on Orton to win games,he may not lose games, but he sure as Hell can’t win them either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO BRONCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Orton lovers, but it is what it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. BeastFromEast92 says:

BTW……..the new kickoff rule sucks too~!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. strandoftds says:

    That rule is cheesey bro.

  43. strandoftds says:

Bro, same ole noise with Orton, and on top of that we ranthe ball 90% of the time on the first drive. I give little credit to him on the first drive, give the credit to our RB`s.

  44. strandoftds says:

Dude, our running game looks strong, even Jeremiah Johnson loooked awesome.

  45. BroncoBoy2012 says:

I’m watching the NFLN replay too since I couldn’t get it yesterday. I know the announcers are probably from the Dallas area but they’re really sucking some Cowboy dick. Hardly mentioning the Broncos. They’ll say “Sean Lee made the tackle…” but never say who ran the ball or for how many yards. They’re paid announcers. Call an unbiased game. And there are a crapload of commercials

  46. 1nOnlyTRB says:

WOW broncoboy, im suprised that post got through lmao. I had a feed for the game yesterday, it was a dallas feed so it was annoying … nothing but pole jocking (the clean version of what u said), silly cowboy interviews, and other nonesense i could careless about. TRB

  47. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Wow Henne really sucks lol. He sucks so much that after throwing two INTs … ATL sat their first team defense, and his only real yards and TD came against thier second team lol. Im amazed how an organization can truly give the keys to a guy like henne (and yet we cant take a leap of faith on Tebow). They would be better off with Brady Quinn lmao. I have a feeling Matt Moore will win the job in Florida. TRB

  48. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

BroncoBoy2012 – The Denver broadcast was just as biased. Each team gets their own local broadcasting, NFL Network chose Dallas’ broadcast. Denver did a Radio/TV Simulcast because they’re cheap I guess.

  49. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

    BTW

Right now IMO: 1. Quinn 2. Orton 3. Tebow (He needs another year in the system)

  50. BeastFromEast92 says:

    GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Quinn #1……………..awwww man…you’re crazy!!!
