By now just about every Denver Broncos fan in the universe, unless he or she has been living in a cave, is well aware that the team lost a preseason game to the Dallas Cowboys Saturday night.
And for a lot of Broncos fans, the right time to panic is as soon as the first thing goes wrong.
Well, relax.
During preseason the coaches work until very late, easily midnight some night, and the players have meetings well into the night as well, certainly until 9 or so.
There are a lot of different aspects of the game with which they all must become familiar, the practices are hard, the days are hot and long, and you always want to win.
But the games don’t count.
By my math, the Indianapolis Colts recently broke a nine-game preseason losing streak, and we all know what the Colts have done during regular season play recently.
It is always better to win, and that’s what the Broncos always want to do. But win or lose you still have to get ready for the only real goal, which is the regular season.
Much is made of every aspect of play that did not go well, but fixing things is part of what the preseason is about, and that is the focus of every coaching staff in the National Football League at this time.
Most teams have problem areas which they are trying to make better, positions for which they would like to acquire more talent or depth, and even if things seem perfect, coaches know that the next problem is right around the corner if you are not working to be ready for it.
The Broncos have two World Championship trophies resting in the lobby of the team headquarters, and both of them were won, and awarded, following a grueling regular and postseason that respectively lasted 20 (1997) and 19 (1998) games.
They give the trophies out at the end.
Don’t panic at the start.
Thanks for the update. We all know how quickly we fans can go into a frenzy over nothing. I can’t wait for the regular season to begin so we no longer have to hear about how the sky is falling.

I for one, am looking forward to watching this team establish its chemistry and come together. If we get to the point, where all cylinders are firing, any team in our way better duck!
For years I would fret over a loss in the preseason. I felt the Bronco’s weren’t up to par. Now I know, that is not the case. The coaches have to see who they can rely on, who is a team player, who has heart and spirit! Shanahan usually always has good judgement in every department of the team. He picks and chooses carefully! He, Shanahan, will find a solution to all problems. At least that is his intention. We of little faith need to put it into the man’s hands! We as fan’s need another Super Bowl! WHAT DO YOU SAY BRONCO’S???????????????
