Marcus Thomas Quite an Athlete

July 29th, 2007 - 1:36pm by jim_saccomano

Sunday was our first day of twice-a-day practices for our 2007 training camp, and before the morning practice fourth-round draft choice Marcus Thomas, defensive tackle from Florida, displayed the kind of athletic ability rarely seen among football players, and unheard of among players in excess of 300 pounds.

Just prior to the team calisthenics, Thomas took off his jersey and performed a backflip for his new teammates, drawing “oohs” and “ahs” among press, fans, and teammates.

A great player for the Florida Gators, Thomas is hoping to make his mark in a defensive line loaded with veteran and young players alike.

Seldom is athletic ability like that ever displayed, and it is always fun to see.

The challenge for any player, of course, is to convert all his physical and mental skills into performance that translates on the field.

That’s the next step, the one that all the new Broncos are trying to show the coaches every day, starting today, in the hopes that a young Bronco can become a permanent Bronco.

 As always, thanks for reading.

Coached Marcus in High School. Can dunk a B-Ball off 2 feet with 2 hands also

Man, I hope he listens to Jim Bates and plays his ass of this year. He could be the steal of this century for the Broncos in the draft.

Yeah this sounds a lot like Warren Sapp. He could dunk the ball and catch punts behind his back. I think this guys is going to be starting before the season is over. Hopefully my guy Dumervil gets lots of play time also.

And now we need the video please! I caught the tailend of the flip on the local news, but want to see it again.

I hope he has the chance this yr. to do that to a QB,that will be what counts. The way I see it we have a steal that might fill the gap,300+L.T.stopper!Jim Bates will really open up on everyone and Mr Lynch will be able to pop and stop WR from running in the middle or deep.
