Giants is the Answer

December 2nd, 2008 - 9:39am by jim_saccomano

The answer to my blog question Monday is the New York Giants, who had Vince Lombardi as their offensive coordinator, before he went to Green Bay, and Tom Landry as their defensive coordinator prior to going to the expansion Dallas Cowboys.

The blogger who said the Giants’ Lombardi, Landry and Jim Lee Howell was right on, but before Howell, Hall of Famer Steve Owen was the Giants’ head coach, so that franchise had three future Hall of Famers on staff.

And the only thing that promopted the question on my part in the first place was that at New York against the Jets Mike Shanahan earned his 153rd career win as a head coach, which ties Shanahan with Owen for 16th place all-time.

With one more win Mike Shanahan will pass Owen and move into a 15th place tie with another Hall of Fame head coach, Marv Levy.

Anytime one’s name is being included in the same list with members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, that’s a good thing.

That is definitely great news Way To Go Mike Shanahan! So glad you are the Head Coach in Denver!! Now can we get a little video dance of the Cheerleaders? HAHAHAHA

Seriously he is a HOF Coach in my book! WTG Keep up the great work!!!!

Shanahan is an even better coach than Marv Levy because he’s found a way to win a pair of championships. Just kidding, championships aren’t the only factor because Dan Marino’s the best pure quarterback of all time and he never won one. In any case, I still think Shanny’s better than Levy.

I did not realize Shannahan was so far up the ladder in the record books. It reaffirms to me what a great coach he is. He could quit now and still find a place in the HOF. He still has a lot of gas in the tank and will continue to climb that ladder.

I am thankful Shannahan is a Bronco!

With a Broncos win this Sunday, and the Chargers lost, the Broncos Clinch the AFC West, WOW!
