A sportswriter friend long ago made the casual comment that “It’s all about the quarterback.”
I would add, it is always about the quarterback, in Denver, regardless of who he is, and all the more so if he is a big time player.
While still in the very early stages of his career, Jay Cutler certainly has demonstrated at every opportunity that he is going to be a very big time player for the Denver Broncos and in the National Football League, and he is a big time person as well.
The world at large is still getting to know Jay Cutler, but as it does so people will find what a fine individual and leader he is.
The latest and forevermore most obvious dynamic at play here is the quarterback’s recent diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes.
Like anything else in life, it is all in how one handles what comes his way, and Jay Cutler is going to not only handle it very well for himself, which is most important, and for the Broncos, which is professionally important to Cutler and of monumental importance to the leagion of fans who inhabit Broncos Country, but he also is going to take a big step forward as national represenative and spokesman for this those who work with this disease.
He did not ask for this role but he has it.
And he is going to do a great job as a very public face, which he will always be anyway as the Broncos’ QB, but even more so on the national level due to how he handles himself in the management of his condition.
There are so many people to be taught, educated, influenced, all in a potentially positive way, regarding the disease and its control, and just coming to the realization that not only can it be controlled, but that the individual who has it can not just function but thrive.
When the crown of spokesmanship is placed upon one’s head, it is impossible to remove.
Jay certainly asked for his assignment as the Broncos’ quarterback, and then quickly developed into one of the team leaders.
But that is all about football.
This is all about life, which even the most ardent Bronco fan would have to admit is a far bigger thing.
As great as his influence is going to be on the Bronco team, even greater will Jay Cutler’s positive influence be on legions of young Americans who will learn valuable lessons about the handling of life from this young gentleman.
What greater role can one have in society than to positively influence young people?
Again, he did not ask for the role, but the graceful and professional handling of something which is suddenly thrust upon an individual is very often the measure of a man.
And Jay Cutler will measure up very well.

I agree Jim, wholeheartedly…but i would like to add a small factoid.
When Mike came to Denver he was highly tauted as the NFL’s smartest offensive coordinator under the Jim Walsh Tree. This was evident once he teamed up with John. However, what probably went under the radar was that under Mike (which was a short stint for John unfortunately), John had posted better numbers after Mike “tailor-made the step timing to Elder John’s less mobile but still scrambling threat legs” and that was during the last three years of John’s career. Which we all know ended beautifully, and his “Last Three” years’ numbers were more impressive than Marino’s, Namath’s, Farve’s , well heck everybodies! It was after the Broncos’ second Superbowl Victory did analyst realized just How Magnificent The Rifle-Man Was. My reference point to this is the obvious comparison for which Denveridians cant seem to “let go and let live” the legacy. It’s ok because God must be a bronco fan because he must’ve seen it ‘fit’ that an apparent “heir” return to the sacred and “mystic” to a certain Mile High _ _ _ _ _. Jay is Incredibly “gifted” with agility that (well let’s just “Cutler” to the Chase) is deceptively fast and beyond “athletic” standards for a 6’2″ 200 ‘n some odd (but Not Awkward) CAUCASIAN Pocket/Scrambling QB, EVER!!!!. Every thing America was hoping to see in Michael Vick—Cannon Arm + (unlike Vick) Underrated Accuracy, and Smartness to boot, with and a “defense alluding quickness during the scramble”…………..and can still take a lickin’ are you kiddin me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you seriously, kidding me?????
OPEN YOUR EYES DENVER, JOHN ELWAY wasn’t even that good, comparing initial first 2Yrs of Each QB. … As a non-Caucasian american, I say that with much love and respect due, that no matter how you all may feel about how i said it,… I JUST SPEAK THE TRUTH..heck, you should hear how scouts talk about these humans like they are actual Pedigree!!!. Therefore you shouldn’t be offended by my comments and you just probably wish you could speak that Real anyway!! So there, whether you like it or not This Kid’s Genetics is Off the Charts, I wouldn’t be too worried about his diabetes, Jay i
Let Legacy’s live yeah,…..but keep your eye ANNA SAY
Great read Jim,
People are blowing this WAY OUT into left field. Jay surrounds him self with the best doctors and medical resources money can buy. If anything I feel Jay will become even a better QB now that the situation has been addressed.
I do have a feeling this situation will do more for Jay on and off the field then we the fans could ever imagine. Look for Jay to mature rapidly this year!
Go BRONCOS!!!!!
I’m all for Jay Cutler, but he is no Michael Vick in terms of mobility, not even close. Not even close to being close. Fortunately, Jay has a much better head on his shoulders than Vick and will use his smarts and strong arm (and yes, some elusiveness in the pocket) to be an effective quarterback for the Broncs.
However, John Elway had a FAR superior cast of teammates (T.D., Rod, Eddy Mac, Shannon Sharpe, Gary Zimmerman, and so many more) and coaches (Alex Gibbs, Gary Kubiac) than does Cutler right now. That amazing team made John the legend he is today, and if Jay wants to be up there with John, the ’08 Broncos have a long way to go from here if Jay is to take them to the top. -A hard core, but realistic Broncos fan.
sorry, computer gliche.
As I was, Jay is a responsible athlete and he understands his importance more so, before you or I, ever knew of him!
Let Legacy’s Live yes…………..But keep your Eyes on the Return of The Scramblin’ Ramblin’ Rifle-Man!!!!!!!!!!!!
and Yeah, I’ll be the first to have the Heart to say what Ya’ll don’t, whether you can say or can see it, Denver’s best Years are Ahead, and by my numbers with Mikes wisdom( AND I HOPE SOMEHOW MIKE YOU GET TO READ THIS) & by new OFFENSE “tailoring it” to suit Cutler’s agility, and with Slowik’s hunger to: Unleash what Denver Alone perfected, with the”All Weapons A-Threat”. Utilizing TE’s and FB’s in passing….in the first ever pure “Balanced West Coast Attack” offense that teams have copied or “tried to capture every since” our superbowls in ’98 and ’99.
Once again “no-named Heroes will arise in the ranks of Mile High” and with this current core we shall once again regain Offensive Juggernaut Status we had in ’98 and ’99, but …………
you must lock in your ” X ” factor Denver……… and I Hope Pat and Mike will read this……….put your pride aside, give next years 1st Round( you will be 32nd), Hamilton or OL, and WR’s Keary or Jackson—
and get****** ChaD Johnson !!!***** “the #85 we never got in Lelie”!!!!!
1)C. Johnson 2)B. Marshall 3)B. Stokely 4)E. Royal 5)G. Martinez
Unleash them, take no prisoners, and Have No Mercy!!
He will serve your Offense well with a solid 3-5yrs still in him!
you will need him to counter Raiders, Chargers, Dallas, and Indie….The Patriot’s “to be” Dynasty won’t,…..It will “Now Rest Securely @ Mile High” and I account for 5 SuperBowl Championships by my numbers!!!
Good Draft, BELIEVE……BELIEVE…….BELIEVE!!!!!!
GO BRONCOS!!
Alright people, no need to get your undies in a wad. You all are taking this to different heights I couldn’t even get through reading a whole comment. I totally 110% agree with Jim… there is no other better role model (maybe other than Elway) to people all over the world with disease; Jay has proven time & time again that he’s going to go VERY far with his career and he’s not going to let this disease take over or affect him doing what he does best in any way.
I wish he didn’t have to go through this and just watching his press conference about it almost brought me to tears… he kept saying over & over that he’s going to have this for the rest of his life, and that alone tore me apart. But Jay is a fighter… he’s fought for his position as the next QB for Denver (which we all know won’t be easy since he is replacing an irreplaceable figure, Mr. Elway) but like Jim said Jay didn’t ask for this disease and he’s not going to stop fighting now, just b/c he has this. He’s going to use his diagnosis as a way to help others that are in worse or similar conditions to him. He now has another way to help kids & adults battling another part of life that will hopefully, one day be cured. I believe in him as a person more than anything just by what I’ve seen him do through his foundation, and of course, I believe in him as our QB and he will do GREAT things for this team, on the field and off.
He’s coming into his 3rd year I believe and I know he will lead this great team to the Promise Land one day, that will not only be a great victory for Broncos Country but for him as a person. His health & life comes first, without that we have no solid QB to take us all the way. If Jay ever reads this, I want him to know that I will forever keep you in my prayers and that God will heal you of this disease and everyone else that is going through the same thing.
Oh, and to rolls3… Jay is no Michael Vick — he’s better!!!!!!! In order to be a great QB or football player you have to prove yourself as a person first… guess what, Vick screwed that up BIG time!! There is absolutely NO comparison between the two. Vick had the chance of a lifetime to prove himself as a person (that when down the toilet) and he had that same chance to prove himself as a QB. He became more popular for his little fiasco than playing football, I hardly remember him even being in the NFL. Jay took his chance & ran with it… as I remember, a time or two to the end zone!!! I don’t care at all what Vick was like at the very beginning of his career, the point is Vick took his chance for granted & screwed up his life and Jay did the exact OPPOSITE!!! Putting that completely off to the side, Jay is the present & future for this team. I’m behind you all the way #6. 2008 is going to be all about us… Patriots who???
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!
dude you are crazy, we dont want or need chad “cry baby” johnson. He is pulling an Ashley Lelie on the bengles as we speak. Housh is the new number one guy and his team isnt winning, so he is gonna sit at home and cry. B-marsh is gonna put up better numbers this year then ocho has ever put up in a single season in his whole career. He is better than chad, so forget him. Lets wait to see who we can get next yeat with our first round pick. Even if it is the 32nd, that wouldnt be enough to get the cry baby. IMO, Darrell jackson is gonna fit right in and put up numbers close to the top #2 receivers in the league(#2 as in depth chart). And we will resign him for a few more years until eddie royal becomes our #2 receiver after spending a few years in the league. This kid is good. I agree though and i see it, denvers better years are yet to come and we do have a bunch of upside to our team with the young players we have.
oh, and in honor of jay and this blog being about him, the only reason Darrell jackson will do so good is because Jay will be throwing to him. Elway07, great post, i agree with what you have to say, and I challenge all broncos fans, believers or not, pray that jay gets healed because believe it or not, there is a Big God up in heaven and he listens to our prayers.
Retort to 07Elway
my posting is a retort to an earlier posting at the top of this page. Someone compared Cutler’s mobility to that of Vick, but there is no comparison. Nonetheless Vick is one of the biggest idiots I’ve ever read about but not personally known. However, anyone who thinks that the Broncos are going anywhere this year is as disillusioned as they were in ’07. The Broncs are far from competing with the Chargers for the AFC West, let alone a Super Bowl. That doesn’t mean I won’t cheer for them though. I still love em. And I’m glad Shani realized that he has to stop bringing in guys with bad character. The Broncs are in rebuilding and you can’t build around guys with bad character (like the Falcons tried to do with Vick!). You got my support Jay C.
Back to rolls3…
We may agree now about how dumb Vick turned out to be but you are the disillusioned one!!! The Broncos WILL, I repeat WILL go places the Chargers don’t even know about. I’m not doubting your faith in this team or anything but fact that the Chargers rely solely on Rivers (I call him Big Turd) ahem… talent???… they will fail & fall. You know, the more you say & think that we can’t beat the Chargers, it might happen… do you really want that?? You’re not a Bronco fan if you do. With Cutler, we have a fighting chance and I know Cutler won’t let us down. We are beginning to move past the rebuilding stages, we’ve come a LONG, LONG way and we will beat them. It’s nice & all that you support Cutler… he needs it but it would be even better you supported the WHOLE team, dude!!!!
As for Chad Johnson coming here to Broncos Country…. Are you out of your mind??????? He’s got just a bad of an ego as Terrell Owens, we don’t need any of that crap here, we have enough already to deal with, why add to the problem. He’s not all that he hypes himself up to be. If he would put his ego aside, he might actually be a good football player… but that’s a far cry. HA HA HA… and someday I’ll live on the moon.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!
You know I have been kind of sad lately about the firing of Andrew Mason, and I am really mising the old blogs. Sorry Jim you just dont fill the void…
Now on the subject of Jay, he will benefit from Diabetis as a football player. He may take some hits as a human and life may be a little harder, but the fact that he is going to have to watch what he is eating on a regular basis is a positive. Plus he says he has a lot more energy, and that is always a good thing, especially when he is trying to learn a new pass sceme. The broncos will do a lot better this year than they have the last couple years… I just hopes it happens soon I am not ready for another slump like we had in our BRian Grisie era.
I hope Jay Cutler’s greatest achievement in his life is being the push behind finding a cure for diabetes. I hope his second greatest acheivement is being the greatest quarterback in Broncos history!
This is very well written. I always appreciate your writing. I wish you had time to contribute more to the website, especially since Mason is gone, but I understand that you have more pressing responsibilities.
Jay Cutler has already proven himself to be an excellent leader and outstanding quarterback, but he can not only win the hearts of Broncos fans, he can be a role model to thousands of people who don’t even care about sports. I with him luck, on the field, of course as a fan, but also in all aspects and facets of life. He is an outstanding man and we’re fortuitous to have him as our signal-caller in Bronco Country.
To Jazzyfrizzle and 07Elway,
I bet the two of you never played football past high school =}
and i don’t mean that disrespectfully gents but listen,
I like the fan blog atmosphere of all y’all beer totin’ , tailgaitin’, “weekend warriors”, as well as some individuals with real football knowledge, but seriously- I’m an athlete, warrior and businessman, and coach, and father.
I played Semi-Pro before joining the Navy, and ran Olympic Qualifying times (10.29 100mtr dash) and for all you know, you’re bloggin with someone who has Champ Bailey work ethics and attitude when I play. He has been my role model in athletic production since Georgia who’s athletic agility and determination resembled myself. While my personal’ credentials are irrelevent, i thought i would shine some light on my passionate football knowledge and not just “emotional” passion that the two of you exert in retort.
Allow me to explain myself and maybe you will understand, sure “ocho-cinco” has an attitude, but he has a great desire to be the best and he still got the wheels but more importantly than his 40 time is his “release”, if you weren’t a wide receiver, cornerback, or a DB Coach like myself then I wouldn’t expect you to know what i’m talking about. Of the 5 top Receivers with wheels, (just wheels, flat out wheels) C.J. is still in the top five with excellent “release” (that is the ability to use natural agility to create separation from the DB’s.
C.Johnson, Andre Johnson, Wayne, and Moss still have it along with guess who……Javon Walker at the 6’0″ and over club of receivers with flat out speed AND “SEPERATION”.
I agree with you not to trade Problem child for Problem child, however, but this is a system we have been perfecting and we simply recruit like and similar “cookie cutter” players that are reminiscent of a championship mold
for what its worth I don’t like the whole show-off attitude like Owens or gimme, gimme, attitude like Javon’s either but they are still a threat.(period) Why do you think Oakland snagged him so quickly, b/c he’s young and fast?? NOOOOOO my friends, Oakland and especially teams in our division know we boast the #1 Corner tandem and Overall Most Dangerous Secondary(despite last season)in the league. Al (Davis)needed a deep threat to occupy Champ in hopes to have 2 deep threats like Patriots had in Moss and Stallworth and you see what offense that opened up…. Patriots were stupid to give up Stallworth.
So what are we talking about here, from a Business standpoint you hire what can produce in terms of numbers and production, from a military standpoint you think to exploit your enemy’s weakness and take no prisoners (like peyton did to us between bly and ferguson), that leaves a father and coach standpoint and they are the same. So weather the “potential” and i say potential attitude problem because we don’t know if he will come to denver with an attitude, but here is more truth:
Having two 6’1″ 4.5″(40) Deep Threats that create seperation and acceleration with an arm like Elway, accuracy like Brady’s and soon to be smarts like Peyton, with TE’s that stretch and a slot WR that you had better not sleep on with stokely and royal, and my friends its gonna be a long day for most teams against us this year. take a closer look, we have the ingredients that mirror another Championship organization.
Leave the Locker Room Leadership and “blue collar” mentality that we have to the players and staff to “put him in his place” like we did Javon……
But we are the Broncos and we give good Players a chance to compete and be Great(period). Besides, who knows, that “attitude” or any “attitude” we could’ve used last year but hey, lets move forward and my coaching instincts tell me our leaders had better get more vocal or all our “class act” will keep us from ‘gel-ling’ and produce a lop-sided season again.
Gentlemen I remain, remove the emotion from your thoughts and just think “logistically” and logically, its in the numbers and they look good for us, but i fear that having the ability to “Command and Dictate” the defensive packages lye in 3 people…
WR Chad Johnson, a true speed and power Bronco RB like T.D. thats TBD right now, like Duece McCallister or maybe Torrain (if he is indeed the long awaited remodel a of T.D.), and B. Stokely (he is our version of Ed Mccaffery)!!
With the diagnosis of Cutler, I truly believe he has found the answer to what was ailing him last season. We all noticed moments of greatness, then moments of “oh my gosh”. Cutler’s in-ability to make smart decisions (in a hurry) were most likely due to his diabetes. I don’t have the condition myself, however my grandfather has lived with the condition for over 50 years. He’s 81 yrs old, and his strength still amazes me. He is still able to mow 5 acres of land by hand, plant trees and be very active. He’s maintained a good diet and good lifestyle, those are beneficial for any diabetic. My point is, Being a diabetic and not knowing it, effects the brain. Like a defense in front of you that can be seen, Cutler couldn’t scramble his way out of this, because he didn’t know it was there.
I believe with his treatment of his condition, with all the medical staff around him, he will be just fine. I fully expect to see a sharper, more energetic, faster, stronger, Cutler than we all seen last year. His mind will be sharper, more alert, and he’ll make quicker decisions. Although it sucks he’s got this condition, I’m glad they found it and it’s treatable. Cutler, being an athlete, can and will live a long life even with Diabetes. Go Jay, Go Broncos, looking forward to the 08 season.
BRONCO COUNTRY!
Let’s all be thankful this was caught in time. My nephew is 22 years old. At age 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It is a serious disease and at one point went into a diabetic colma. very, very serious. He is doing wonderful now with the aide of a pump. However, after watching the press conference, I don’t think the average fan understood the threat of a major catastrophe happening from this going undetected for so long!!
WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY MOST IMPORTANT POINT!!!!!!
GREEK! can you explain to me why no testing was done when Jay was visiting your office and speaking to the conditions in which he was feeling? The man had lost almost 30 lbs!!!!! urinates all the time, constantly tired, etc. Why wouldn’t you do a blood test right on the spot? Mind you this was all on the press conference that Jay admitted to. He admitted to visiting with Greek and being told “We see this, it’s the grind of the season..”
GREEK, I have never called into question your ability of a team doctor, EVER. However, I am wondering why extra precautions wouldn’t be done for Jay or any of our players. Why wouldn’t we have simply said, “Let’s do a blood test to make sure there isn’t anything going on inside.”
It terrified me to know he played the last part of the season, went through the first part of the year and didn’t get dianosed until April 15th.
Careless, simply careless……
Jay, I wish you the very best. Actually my nephew played a very mean RB in highschool while diabetic and did an amazing job! You will too!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!!
1ArabianKnight, can you have someone edit your posts please? I know English grammar can be complex, but my God man…I need a cypher key to read those ridiculous posts.
Jay will make it through this. I’m a little stunned that nothing was done last year when he wasn’t feeling right, but I know that the football season is long and everyone is hurting and tired by the end. I guess things like this kind of slip through the cracks.
It says a lot about Jay that his first step was to involve himself in Diabetes foundations and charities. I hope that he continues to be that philanthropic, regardless of how he does as quarterback of the Denver Broncos.
Still, I expect us to eventually be the #1 offense under his leadership, and I hope that happens sooner rather than later. Whether or no he has enough quality targets remains to be seen, but if Bmarsh can get his hands working, and stop wrestling T.V.s we should be ok…
Go Broncos!
dare2bme;
I second that. I think offensively, we are going to be great!
Also, I pray to God (Because we know he wears Bronco Gear on Sundays with his back to the West Coast) Can we PLEASE! put Rivers on his a$$! Please!
p.s. loved the wrestling T.V. comment. Nice!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Chad Johnson sucks for real…i dont know why u fans want this cat!! so he can hold out and screw up the broncos just like the bengals…please he has nothin on BMarsh…just give it time!!
You know what 1ArabianKnight, you are absolutely right… I never played high school football – I’m a GIRL you moron!!!!!! But I did however play soccer, I’ve played that sport since I was 4 & I’m in my college years – but I have absolutely no clue what your point with all that was? Like someone else said, we need a cypher key to even try to understand what you said… I could barely get past the first paragraph. We speak english here in A-M-E-R-I-C-A… wherever you’re from, obviously not.
And I don’t know where you get off calling me a “gent” you booger… next time get your facts straight before you ramble on & on about whatever it is you were rambling about… only God knows what you said. I’ve followed football my entire life, I was born with Orange & Blue blood, I was raised on football… I know what I’m talking about, do you? Your comment was almost pointless, it really made no sense but oh well. Not trying to offend anyone here but now my head is really swimming. Stay strong Cutler!!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!
Chad Johnson sucks, and he thinks more highly of him self than any body ought to, I would use a shirt with his autograph for wiping my toilet. and arabian night, stop hating on people or its gonna turn back on you. You call us who disagree with you “beer totin’ , tailgaitin’, “weekend warriors”, I don’t drink, never finished a whole beer, I just love the broncos and I enjoy blogging. So state your opinions, but only on what you have knowledge about. Don’t go dissin your fellow fans.
I hope for the best for Cutler. I believe that the broncos have a chance to have a good season. If the broncos players believe that they are good, then they should have a good season. Who would have thought that my St. Louis Cardinals would be this good this year and that the seemingly over-hyped Tigers would be this bad? Go Broncos!
hey, no prob,
glad you were willing to listen and thanks for fighting for the country. You do understand my concern that there is a possibility that if we ever did get CJ, he could complain and want out if we had a few bad seasons and Marshall got the ball more than him. He is fast, and he can catch, but he is just inconsistent, and he draws all the attention from the team to himself. He is not a team oriented guy. I would prefer to have guys who are greatful that a team is willing to pay millions of dollars to have you catch a ball for them. I pay close attention to stats and all that goes on in the league. Playing fantasy football sometimes causes you to know more than you need to know, but really does help when it comes to giving opinions and blogging. So hey, lets all be friends. And sorry but your second to last blog was a little harsh towards 07 broncos. I think she was just offended by some comments you made and wasn’t looking for a response like that. Lets just try to focus on football in the blogging here and leave the negative comments out. Lets get excited for a new season. Any given sunday (or monday, saturday, or thursday). Lets Go Broncos!!!!
07bronco, “We speak english here in A-M-E-R-I-C-A… wherever you’re from, obviously not.” That wasnt cool either, you two are fans of the same team, kiss and make up! haha
Sorry, Don’t believe the Bengals will let CJ go. The Situation has become personal with Club and CJ. They would rather see him not play, than to trade him. I was listening to Serius Satellite Radio the other day and Marv Lewis made it clear the club would not let him out of his contract, via trade or any other option. They are making an example outta him to show the rest of the players where they stand. Can’t say I like his big mouth, however sometimes a change of scenery for a player can make all the difference. Just don’t get your hopes up about seeing CJ in Orange and Blue.
Okay, 1ArabianKnight… I respect the heck out of anyone who has fought for this country, I’m actually one of the few people who is still in favor of this war for reasons that I won’t go into – my opinion. You deserve the thanks from everyone in this country don’t get me wrong. But there is no need to come on here & shove it in anyone’s face – sorry if I came off blunt, didn’t mean any disrespect but you had no right either chewing me out, dude!! (Same goes for me, too – I’m not thinking on a one-way street).
I do know what I’m talking about when it comes to football, I grew up on it and I don’t have to have high school, college or professional experience playing the game in order to have an opinion about the game or this team. This team, believe it or not, is my life. I love this team, I was born in the heart of Denver, I grew up watching Elway turn into a Superbowl champ & MVP… don’t tell me I don’t know anything about football!! That’s all I have to say about all this – don’t underestimate me & I won’t do that to you either. I’m not “kissing & making up” to anyone but again, thank you, 1ArabianKnight, for serving this great nation.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!
Hey what do you think of the Darrell Jackson acquisition? I think he had his down year last year due to a little thing called “the 49ers QB situation”. We have a great QB, so my thought is that last year he didn’t have a decrease in talent, but a decrease in balls thrown TO him or getting to him. Randy moss did great with minnesota, then sucked in choakland…go figure, then he did great in New England. So DJ did very good in seattle, had some thousand yard seasons. Goes to san fran, (which is geographically close to Choakland) and sucked there, now he has a chance to show people what he can do with the best young and upcoming QB in the league. He still has his best years in front of him. Correct me if I am wrong, but DJ is younger than Moss, I believe.
jazzyfrizzle,
Im not sure whether or not he is older than Moss, but I agree with you that Jackson’s drastic decrease in production last year was due to having poor quarterbacks in San Fran. I think, however, that he is more of a possession receiver than anything else. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with being a possession receiver (look at Rod Smith), but I think that the Broncos do need a speedy and consistent receiver (as Marshall doesn’t have blinding speed) such as 1ARABIANKNIGHT suggests (Although I’m not sure if that needed receiver is Chad Johnson). I think that Jackson will surprise most of the expectations that people have of him though, and he should be a consistent receiver and have solid numbers.
1ArabianKnight, I do accept your apology… don’t know why you would feel humiliated but we’ll just this craziness behind us. You, and all the others, do deserve all the respect for what you’ve done & what some keep doing (by returning several times). I can’t thank our military enough for what they’ve (you’ve) done. I applaud you for continuing to help our veterans. I hope we are on good graces here.
And I have to know, not that I really want to know but did I hear right when someone on here said that the Broncos fired Andrew Mason???? Please tell me that’s not true… he’s the best blogger on here, no offense to the others.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!
1ArabianKnight, I have to say, I would not be opposed to the idea of having Chad Johnson on the team. When a guy gets sick of loosing, then I truly believe a change of venue is needed, i.e. Randy Moss, Terell Owens, and on and on. Lets face it, as a man, if you face defeat over and over and over, you become un-satisfied. As a man in the NFL you also realize that every snap, every game, every season your closer to the end of your career. As a business man myself, I want to be surrounded by winners so I can maximize my net revenue. In the NFL they have the money, now it becomes about the championship. Chad Johnson wants to win, right now!. He wants to be on a team that has the opportunity. If, and this is a big if he were to come to the Broncos, I believe our coach and players would coral his ego. If Johnson were to concentrate on his skills as he does his end zone celebration he would be awesome. Enough said about that. I am a huge Al Wilson fan and although he no longer plays for the Broncos I am curious what will become of his NFL career. Last I heard he was speaking with Detroit. I have not heard anything since, anyone with info I would greatly appreciate it. I love this site. Helps ease the withdraws from my drug addiction known as the Denver Broncos. Can’t wait till the first pre-season game. GO BRONCOS
07broncos,
mason got fired with a bunch of other front office people a few months back. And yes, you along with everyone else misses having him here. It has been a drag, but most people still have a good time talking. best wishes to him eh? A nice receiver to have on the team would be a reggie wayne type player. That guy is unbelievable, or even better, wes welker.
I agree lol
Jay is gonna be fine, I mean he’s has to change his lifestyle but if anything it’ll be better for his health. I can’t wait to see what the guys can do this year
go broncos!!
1ARABIANKNIGHT not to be cruel but you said you were in the Navy. So unless you were a seal, which is highly unlikely. You were never shot at. Nice try. But I’ll play your game, I’m wondering why your men where looking at you though if they were getting shot at, why weren’t they looking for the enemy. Probably because you didn’t train them properly. Sorry Fans. I really hate when idiots try to play the military card.
Jay I wish you all the best. We’ll be praying for you.
Chad Johnson in Denver ? i don’t see that happening ; he’ll demand much more money than the team can afford . The Moss situation was different , he sign a one year discount deal simply to escape a terrible team . Of course , having CJ would be great as it would have been great to keep Javon but a team can’t have all the best player at one position .Regardless , i’m very happy whith the receiver we still have , Brandon , provided he’ll be fully recovered , stockley as a slot receiver , Darell J , a good veteran acquisition and even this guy from Carolina , colbert , he’ll shine much simply because our QB is better . I ‘m very please whith our receiving corps and generally whith our offense , i liked the picking an OL in the first round , remember , you can have the besst QB in the league , if you have nobody to protect him , it’ll be a long season for your offense . It’s up to the D now to put the offense on the turf so hopefully our front 7 will do the job this year but i’m confident whith last year draftees and the newquisitiosns , can’t be worse than last year !!
I am deeply saddened by the recent rash of vile and very personal attacks by several individuals. I realize that being a true Orange and Blue Bronco fan is a very emotional “occupation”, but, please show some respect for the opinions of each and every one no matter how stupid you may think their opinion is. Remember, anybody posting something in this website is expressing an opinion and not any single one of them is “gospel”.
Again, please, please stop the vitriolic personal attacks and show some respect.
Right on man! I agree. But check this new way of thinking out…. We are all so good at trash talking. So lets use these skills that we are so blessed with and go to the faiders website and lets just let em have it. This way of thinking is just being let out in the wrong blog site. Let’s use this to our advantage. Anyone in?
hey just a thought!! i know we re-signed John E and DOuble E on the D line but damn can we get a look at Coleman from the Falcon’s at DT…..he is one bad man and with him or RObertson one of them will be able to split time for sure with Thomas and be affective……spread the word!!

PS…NO more Bronco vs bronco crime!!
Firday I saw the tale end of a crawler at the bootom of the screen on ESPN. I swear that it said something about a Bronco DL being arrested for possession of cocain or some other drug. I haven’t seen anything about it again. Did I imagine this or do I need to switch to a better brand of weed?
oldsouthstander … I think it was talking about Marcus Thomas and the charges being dropped. Also…Broncfalls, no more cracks about the West Coast because I am 50 miles north of the Chargers Stadium and always wear my Blue and Orange!!!!!
where in the deep south is Mason???????????
Fired, from here, some other place is enjoying his work.
Mason if your still reading our post just know if you ever come out to visit the West Coast you have a place to stay. I will kick one of my kids on the couch. We all miss you man…..West Coast
its all good
West Coast relax, I’m not calling into question any fan of the orange and blue. Simply stating the “logistics” of the raiders and chargers in relation to Denver.
Secondly, Jazzyfrizzle. I’m not saying I’m going onto raiders web site. However, I have to admit that I did goto the Patriots website after the super bowl and it was PRICELESS! You should’ve seen the on-line chats going on. It got so bad that if you said 1 negative thing about the patriots they kicked you out. (Yes I was removed) Reading the posts from Patriots fans was hilarious. Not to mention the post coming from fans around the league. I wish I had a copy actually.
GO GET EM’ BOYS!!
If you take a step back and think of how Cutler played last year, you can see that at times he was tired and not at the top of his game. Now knowing that he has diabetes he can keep it under control which, in turn, will give him much more energy and focus on the field. I think we can look forward to seeing a brand new Cutler this year! GO BRONCOS!!
Broncfalls….No worries. I will give you a little insight on Charger and Raider fans in So Cal. When the Chargers are winning you see bolts everywhere but when there losing you have to really search to find a fan. San Diego is a awesome city weather wise but the fans are the ultimate band wagon fans around. As far as the Raider fans, you see a lot of Raider paraphanalia but most of them could not name even 3 players on the team. In this house we bleed Blue and Orange and that’s why we will drive 1000 miles each way for Fan Fair baby. Go Broncos!!!
I got ya West Coast! Bringing a little Bronco love from Cal…Nice! Infilltrate the enemy
It’s amazing you mentioned Fan Fair. I noticed a week or so ago the tickets were going up for sale. I live just outside of Chicago (about an hour east) and I have never been to Denver or Colorado for that matter. I did however get to see Sauerbraun kick twice to Hester last year. I wanted to freakin choke the a$$ whipe. At any rate, I told my wife mark your calendar off in 09′ because I really want to visit Denver, INVESCO all of it.
I really think both San Diego and Oakland are going to struggle this year. San Diego has been flirting with good seasons without capitalizing and I just don’t see them doing it again. Oakland is going to be much better but still a couple of years away from doing anything. Denver on the other hand, is going to surprise a ton of people. I really think Shanny, has the player and the coaches in the right place to do something special.
I can’t wait to see Eddie Royal and the return game, that extra excitement on special teams is going to be HUGE!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Hey people: John Elway was not only the greatest q.b. to ever play the game but probably the greatest athlete PERIOD !! To go through what he did for so many dissapointing years and still come out on top, well, not many athletes get to do that EVER. But, now is the time to forget about that dynasty. It’s over. Obviously, these Broncos are not the Broncos of Elway, Davis, Sharpe, McCaffery, Rod Smith, etc. etc. The 2008 Broncos have been re-made and should be ready for a playoff run. Last year was very, very dissapointing but it’s over now. Cutler is a playoff caliber Q.B. Eddie Royal will help tremendously !! Our field position should be much improved and with Clady blocking, Cutler will be even better than the last two years. We have a stable of running backs and if B-Marsh can come back unscathed, our recievers should be adequate. With a new defensive scheme that allows D.J. to roam from sideline-sideline, we have to be improved. I think Champ is due for another 10 interception season now that his brother is around to motivate him. It’s all there for Denver – let’s do it !!!! Go Broncos !!!
