This is a very exciting time for all of us at the Denver Broncos, and the excitement is palpable on multiple levels.
The new coaching staff that Head Coach Josh McDaniels has put together is truly dynamic. This is a group of individuals that is a lot of fun to work with and very professional. Even more notable, I believe, is their personal demeanor and how they treat people.
Every man in that group deserves credit for being such, but like a lot of things, it flows from the top.
And that’s Pat Bowlen in ownership and his new coach, McDaniels.
Followers of the Broncos are accustomed to the great enthusiasm which Mr. B. brings to the job, the team and the city, but Josh has truly taken this to a new level.
I wrote on my Twitter entry this morning that I have not seen such enthusiasm here in years, that the excitement level is bouncing off the walls at Broncos headquarters.
This is all true. I realize that anyone could say that as Vice President of Public Relations, it is my job to be enthusiastic and to convey it, and that some could be suspicious of how true that is.
Theodore Roosevelt, in my mind one of the greatest presidents in American history, gave what I consider to be the finest quote ever about the truth. To paraphrase it, we have a moral, legal and ethical obligation to tell the truth, but NO OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER to make sure people believe us.
So what I am saying is, I have been here for 32 years and in pro sports for 35 years, and I have seldom seen such excitement or enthusiasm. I don’t care whether you believe me or not.
Very soon, this enthusiasm will be here for all to see, so obvious and visible that someone would have to be hiding in a cave somewhere to miss it. When that tidal wave crests, it will be advisable to be prepared for it.
It is tangible, it is real, and an attitude like that is both infectious and capable of carrying an organization a long, long way.
And that’s all I have to say about that.

Oh I know all about the improved defense… so so so excited to see Dawkins play for us! Like you said its all reminding me of the Orange Crush, Dawkins will be a force for us! Its bigger than huge having him on our team, I don’t even have a word for it, haha. Its going to be an awesome season!!
I also wrote an article on McDenver, its on the new blog you joined but here’s the link.

He’s gonna help this team put all the nay-sayers in their place and make them eat their words!

Man, nothing like a good Public Relations article to wind up and whip the fans into a frenzy. I absolutely just love these “virtual reality pep rallies.” The cheering, the vast optimism, the various predictions for Division championships and complete certainty of Playoff success. [Long sigh, smiling and shaking head.]
Hmm… I wonder what the team’s PR guy is going to say about the coach, the players, the fans, and the owner… Nothing negative, or could POSSIBLY be construed as negative, of course. Come on people, despite what many of you think, there actually are pretty good reasons why virtually ALL of the analysts are picking the Broncos to finish in the cellar. Is it possible for the Broncos to prove everyone wrong, put it all together and actually win? Sure, it’s possible. Likely? Not really. In fact, if the Broncos don’t win any of their first three games, it’s actually possible for them to go 0-16. Do I want to see that happen? Heck no. Despite what many of you may think, I am indeed a Broncos fan. I will be cheering for them each and every game, just like I have for the last 25 years. However, in my opinion (which, by the way, I believe I am allowed to have…), all of the recent changes have unfortunately left the Broncos more likely to fail than to succeed. I’m talking like 3-5 wins. By the midpoint of the season, I predict that Orton will be benched and many of you will be thinking ’8-8 would look pretty nice right about now…’
Thanks LB!
PhotoHound… you are exactly the type that needs to actually READ Jim’s article.. Talk about reading between the lines, good gravy man! Its so typical and too easy to think they’ll fail this season than to think that they’ll do better than last year. Try thinking outside the negative box and give your brain something to rattle with will ya?? You fail to see the bigger picture and you fail to give this team a fighting chance. You are entitled to your opinion but I don’t see how you can sit there say your a Bronco fan and give this team a failing grade before they’ve played one down. Makes no sense man, no sense!
How on earth can you sit there and say Orton WILL BE benched by mid season when you haven’t even seen what he can do in McD’s offense and for a new team??? You baffle me!! You must know something about Orton, McD and this new offense that the rest of us don’t… you DON’T know what’s going to happen and neither do I. I think you’re going to end up VERY surprised… gonna be more like a rude awakening to you. hahaha, can hardly wait!
With faith…
GO BRONCOS in ’09!!!!
Hey, I’d absolutely LOVE to be surprised. If it happens, you’ll be the first to whom I’ll admit I was wrong!
Better get ready to admit photohoundAK…
Just finished watching Knowshon Moreno ultimate highlight reel @ youtube!! Moreno is going to be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh I know royalbroncofan… I’ve seen that and other videos of him, what a stud!! haha Can’t wait to see what he does for us if he’s given the chance, which I think he will. I’m so excited its almost ridiculous! HA!
With faith…
GO BRONCOS in ’09!!!!
I can’t wait!!!! I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so excited. I will miss Shannahan on the sidelines, however I believe this change was long overdue. A new attitude, a new scheme, new players and a new outcome. Last years offense was to predictable and the defense was well, no need to say what all of us already know. I think we will shock the world this season. This team will be hard to prepare for. If McDaniels keeps the scheme fresh week to week, it will be hard for opposing defenses to prepare.
I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised by Orton. If he had receivers that could catch last year, the Bears fans would be pissed that they traded him. I watched a lot of footage on Orton and found it amazing that he could hit the receivers in the hands with the ball and they would drop it, weather hit or not. I think he is the type of QB we need right now. There will never be another Elway, even though everyone crowned Jay Cutler the second coming. Elway, is in a league of his own. Cutler will have some success, but does not have the talent around him in Chicago, also Jay tends to be a one receiver guy. He rarely spreads the ball around, rather looks to a favorite target all the time, then forces the ball even when the other options are open.
DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE!!!!!! Wins Championships!!! Our defense will swarm the ball and have a nasty attitude and play with confidence, we will be set. It won’t be another defenseless year. I’m confident there will be great improvement in this Broncos Team.
GO BRONCOS!!!! I BELIEVE!!! DO YOU?
Photohound: Shanahan left this team in a mess and the schedule next year is brutal. But 0 and 16? Man, I just don’t see it.
I really believe this team will be better than last years….not saying much, I know. I think we have improved everywhere but QB. But just because he doesn’t have a rocket arm doesn’t mean he isn’t a good QB.
All the hairs on my body were standing and goose bumps chills WITH EVERY WORD!
“ALL READY”
