Mountain Man is full of correctness. I apologize for miss-remembering the Bob and Larry team. I too grew up listening to both of them. I am just pleased to find Larry’s voice on the airwaves…

No disrespect to the current Bronco announcers - I listen to you every week and I do appreciate the great job you do.

I remember as a kid listening to many a Broncos game on 850 KOA and hearing Bob Martin and Larry Zimmer. What great memories they were. Today we have Dave Logan and I think David Diaz-Infante. Dave Logan reminds me a lot of Bob Martin, and does just about as good; however, I really loved listening to Bob and Larry.

I knew next to nothing about Bob Martin today, but I'm glad to know of him now. He is the original voice of the Broncos and as one who works in radio, I can appreciate his accomplishments.

The former Broncos announcer who can still be heard on CU broadcasts is Larry Zimmer, now the color man for the Buffs, and for many years the play-by-play announcer. Zimmer was Martin's color man on Broncos broadcasts before sliding over into the play-by-play chair after Martin died in 1990.

Jim,
From your blog, it's obvious that you read the comments and are willing to comment on them. It says a lot about you and the Bronco organization. Can anybody imagine any Raider exec having anything to do with we lowly fans?
While I'll always feel the Bob Martin should be a ROFer, I understand your reaaoning. It's just to bad that all the new Bronco fans will probably never know what a major role his broadcasting expertise played in greatly expanding the fan base of the Broncos.
Don't know who is broadcasting the CU games, but the Bob Matrin who broadcast the Broncos in the early years died of cancer many years ago.

Wow, it's good to hear about Bob Martin. Thanks for that.

I grew up with Bob Martin and the Broncos. I don't remember now how far back he went with them, but I saw the 9 Sept 1960 game against the Boston Patriots . . . the first the Broncos ever played. So I was treated to Bob's voice for many years.

It's also good to hear he's still doing it. Thanks for that info, Phelpster.

I might add that you can still hear Bob call the University of Colorado games. Sirius carries some of the CU games. He continues to be one great announcer!

Hey, I’m a WYO alumni and I still listen because it’s Bob...

Jim,

Thanks again for the post. Living outside of Denver (well outside, like in Illinois outside) :) I didn't have the chance to hear Bob. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how great he truly was though.

I have a montage tribute in video format regarding the Broncos and Bob is on it. It's one of those things that when your organization gets to the level of success that the Broncos are at, we expect greatness. Bob was no different. When you carry that kind of an endorsement around with you from an ourganization like ours, well.....fitting isn't it?

Take care Jim and best wishes to your family and friends....

Now go kick Jacksonville's ASS!!!!

GO GET EM' BOYS!
