With so many veterans on the team, the Broncos have had the chance to grab wins for former teammates in a variety of venues.

Defensive tackle Justin Bannan, for example, spent four years in Baltimore. When the Broncos took on the Ravens last week, Bannan was a game captain. And the defense made sure to do its part to grab a win for the former Raven.

This week, the team travels to Cleveland, where safety Mike Adams spent the previous five seasons.

“Oh yeah, he’s the guy this week,” defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson said of Adams. “Last week it was Bannan. This week it’s Mike. We have a team full of guys for everybody, a lot of different pieces. We’re jelling together and I think it’s Mike’s turn for us to try to get him a win against Cleveland.”

As for Adams, he said he’s “definitely looking forward” to taking on his former teammates.

“All I know is that this group of guys that I’m playing with, nothing to take away from the guys that I played with because I loved that group and I still talk to most of the guys on defense, but this group that I’m playing with is something special,” he said. “We have something special going.”

As for whether he’s heard from former teammates in advance of this Sunday’s matchup at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Adams smiled.

“Absolutely, talking smack,” he said. “You have guys talking about they want tickets, they want this. I got them tickets though — in the nosebleeds.”
