Winning After the Bye

October 20th, 2011 - 4:52pm by Gray Caldwell

Much of the talk this week has revolved around a certain quarterback stepping in under center.

But the real focus on the Broncos locker room is simple — get a win.

The last time Denver took the field, it left San Diego with a 29-24 loss after nearly fighting back for a win.

That sour taste sat in the players’ mouths for an extra week, as the club was off last Sunday for its bye week.

“You’re sitting on that loss the whole time, festering to get back on the field,” Brian Dawkins said. “Once you get back out there you, want to make sure your best foot is being put forward. I think that’s the biggest thing, especially when the bye week comes after a loss.”

Dawkins said grabbing a win after a bye week can be hard, but having that added incentive to wipe away a loss is a big factor.

Champ Bailey said he and the rest of the team used the bye week to make sure the club gets back on track in the home stretch of the season.

“I think when you review what’s happened in the previous weeks before the bye, you kind of understand where you’re good and where you’re weak,” Bailey said. “We’ve just got to strengthen our weaknesses more and even get better at things we’re good at.”

“I feel like we did that, but it’s only going to show up on Sundays.”

Did you notice D Thomas hands are wrong? Hope he doesn’t do that during the game! FUMBLE

    Go Tebow!!!

Giving up Eron Riley ( a real speedster and true deep threat secret weapon) was very, very stupid!! IMHO!

    Dear Mr. Xanders,

I Know that YOU are personally behind destroying our team and giving away every quality player we’ve had all the way back to Shannahan leaving!!!!

I will be glad when Mr. Bowlen finally receive intelligence that YOU ARE THE Teams SABOTAGER!

I CALL IT……LIKE I SEE IT, AND GOT THE CA-HONEYS TO CALL YOU OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s Right, I said it! I’ve worked in Admin long enough to the the most dangerous person in the Kings(Bowlen)army isn’t the General (Elway), it’s his Vizier(Xanders).

You are like Jafar in Alladin, I can’t wait for you to get exposed!

And would Gladly Replace you as the General Manager.

Everyone know Pat doesn’t know FOOTBALL..as well as most. He’s just an Owner. But you have “wormed” your way into his Ear…and as a result you are the “True Puppeteer”, but soon you will be exposed!!!!!

    To Mr. Bowlen,
Give what you have now a chance to grow….

When, Oh when, will Colorado NOT be Famous for Giving Away every notable player in Every top Sport in My City:
Andre “The Big Cat” Gallaraga, Iverson, Van Exel, Carmello, Chauncey(my friend), Nene, Marshall, Lloyd, Scheffler, Cutler, etc..etc..

It’s a Business, I get it. As a businessman, are you familiar with Logistics? Because the crap you do..Doesn’t make logical sense” at all.

    Here’s the truth:

NOT EVERY SKILLED ATHLETE WILL HAVE OR POSSESS THE IDEAL PERSONALITY FOR “CLASS ACT” THAT WE ENVISION! SO WHAT DO you DO:

Learn to Incorporate Bellichecks Philosophy of learning how to deal with “exceptional personas” instead of just thinking they are cancers immediately!

Not doing so, only reflects the Poor LEADERSHIP of Non-Players(STAFF).

I Served 6 yrs in our Military, and in that short stint I was blessed to come to understand not every recruit turned out to be a stellar serviceman or woman, but the one thing we were Good At..Is “FINDING” away to Deal with What We had, utilizing it to our strengths..although most of the time it wasn’t pretty!

NO ONE ON THIS EARTH IS PERFECT!! But We can Learn to embrace and Harness indifference’s to reach a common unified goal.

  4. BroncoRyan says:

there was no choice, he was on the practice squad and up for grabs from any team to the active roster at any time!

  5. 1ArabianKnight says:

    P.S.

I hate the Pats, but I respect that aspect of Bellichecks Philosophy.

    I Pray..

That the Spirit of Mile-High Returns….and help our Team, do the Unthinkable:

PROVE EVERYBODY WRONG WHO DOUBTS IN THE GREATNESS OF MY CITY, And do so in stunning Miraculous Fashion that the term “Never Say Never”, takes on a whole new different meaning.

    TO: Tim Tebow,

The reason for your Highly overated and un-Fair criticism isn’t because of your Mechanics alone(which are above decent on your worst day), but it’s truly because you are an Outspoken Warrior for God!!! THATS THE TRUTH, and “they” (naysayers) just want to See ANY Champion for Him, Not Succeed, and will do anything to get you to crack and break!!

    Therefore,

I BLESS YOU and Our Team for that fact alone!! Like David vs. Goliath & Against All Odds-

    TIM,
I have but 3 words for You: STAND ……AND ….DELIVER!!!

For HE will not Forsake the meaning of why Destiny has brought You to Mile-High, or The Meaning of why you were drafted:

To GIVE our Team the ONE thing it has lacked Since ELWAY. Something that all the talent or skill can’t convey, and that’s the Undeniable Gift you POSSESS———-H E A R T!!! That’s What has been Missing since John.

Now go out there, and PLAY YOUR HEARTS OUT!

“I think when you review what’s happened in the previous weeks before the bye, you kind of understand where you’re good and where you’re week,”

Just an edit Gray, should be “weak” not “week” … I believe

excited for this game … I like Jeremiah Johnson … I think he is better than Ball. Man o Man I miss Mario Fannin … never got to see him play. Its a shame

I see arabian night came with the aladdin references … fitting I suppose lol. Trading players for being ego maniacs is ridiculous … especially at the receiver postion … 99percent of them are ego maniacs … so chances are u replace one with another … athletes have been priviledged like thier whole life … thats why they have that thing about em. Only a few dont. And u cannot build a team on a few that dont … cuz not all of them will be good enough. The question is can u coexist with them … can u control them to an extent … thats what its about … the rest of the personality issues u will just have to deal with … as long as they don’t do some real criminal crap. Knight one area I disagree with is Riley… True they should have signed him to the active roster but they couldnt stop NY since they didnt. The Bush signing befuddles me… How does he make our team better? And why did they not bring McBath back if they were in that much need of a saftey?

  8. 3rdGeneration says:

…..ok…..Anyway, I am also wondering why we didn’t bring McBath back. Good point LAX. Is he even on the practice squad? McCarthy was also looking pretty solid in preseason. Also I must say, now that the dust has settled, I’m surprised (only a little) that someone didn’t take a stab at Orton or Quinn before the trade deadline passed. I guess no one wants their contracts. We should have traded Orton to the Raiders. Now with Al gone, we could have given them a new reason to be a bad team.

  9. arch4662 says:

I hope that the team does good. I can’t bear to watch Oakland be better than us. Kills me inside. Arabian I like your Passion but when the team is in such bad shape the way it has been since 08 its hard to be positive all the time. I love elway as a player but so far him and Xanders suck in the front office. We could have drafted/ signed players to make us competitive this year but here we are again in last place in AFC west. I hope Tebow kills it this season and proves all the naysayers wrong. But its unreal to think we are a playoff team. We would need to go 8-2 the rest of the season. Even with Payton manning as our QB it would be near impossible. We lost our opportunity in the off-season. And keeping orton is like having cancer in our locker room. I love this team I will never jump ship. NEVER. But I will always call it the way I see it. Positive or negative.

  10. jjluvsdabroncos says:

1ArabianKnight…FABULOUS speech!!!! Lets Go Tebow!!! Lets Go Broncos!!!

  11. Kengro says:

As things stand right now we are a basement team. As many people on here said in the offseason….Top FA do not want to come to such a poor team that has little chance to make the playoffs let alone the superbowl. While i am no big fan of Xanders, i dont think the lack of making solid moves it totally his fault. Sure im disapointed by getting a possible 5th for a pro-bowl reciever. Letting all the other good players (Cutler, Marshall….etc) go boggles my mind. He needs to get better at his craft but the team having a better record could really help him in that task.

  12. Thanks for the heads up, 1nOnlyTRB. Change has been made.

  13. Borrachazo C.R says:

Kengro, I think we have too take that into consideration!! Makes sense to me at least!

  14. 1ArabianKnight says:

    Kengro,
I understand it may not be all his fault, however Elway is entitled at VP, but we wont see his full effect till next draft. He is the type of person that his main concern is keeping his job by pleasing Bowlen in terms of saving Bowlen money–which is Xanders primary focus!!!

    Thanx Jjluvs!

    1nTRB, Arch4662,
Thanx for comments and I agree with you both!

    LAX,
after watching clips of Bush, he has good recovery speed is like a Baby B. Dawkins- he is a sure tackler and excellent in run support!

    http://youtu.be/dJYwfR_XWSs

Bruton however is questionable and not as agile as McBath. Keeping Bruton over McBath befuddles me as well. But from what I see, Rafael Bush brings It, and with no fear! I think thats what Fox is looking at.

Remember Fox is defensive-minded and its imperative to have a “bend don’t break” defense during “rebuilding”, and excellent safeties can give you that, as they are literally the “last line of defense”.

Between Carter, Bush, Moore and McCarthy..we are Solid at future S position!

I actually hope Cox is innocent, and we pick him back up. He was a “steal” in that draft IMO and is the closest I see to another Champ in terms of cornerback(my position). He is ideal at height, physical size, agility, speed, press coverage, and tackling for a 2nd yr man. He has a tremendous upside, if he is dealt a second chance in life.

I don’t blame Xanders for the Team’s Play..but for not allowing their chemistry to gel!

  15. 1ArabianKnight says:

may not be all Xander’s fault*
