Who is Wearing What?

April 6th, 2010 - 4:33pm by Kyle Sonneman

With the roster additions this offseason, many have asked who will be wearing what jersey number.

Well here it is, the most updated list from the Broncos equipment staff. The only player from last season to change his number thus far is Alphonso Smith. Smith switched his 33 to 22, with Nate Jones taking the vacated 33. Here are the rest of the new numbers. Some numbers are still being decided upon and once they are set, we will fill you in.

Brady Quinn – 9
Alphonso Smith – 22
Nate Jones – 33
Baraka Atkins – 58
Dustin Fry – 62
Jarvis Green – 93

    Lol at ortons comments.

” we played as hard as we could to try and earn a contract”

thought it was about winning but I guess it is about money.

  2. brian_schneider says:

C’mon man everyone knows it is about the money.

  3. BeastFromEast92 says:

Orton probably thinks cause McD says he’s the starter,he can act like theres no way Quinn can take his job,and the fans feel the same way…Well some do,some don’t.Either way he needs to play a lot better than he did last year, and to be honest,(I’m not much of a Orton lover),but he will be in his second year of the system, which will help and him and the receivers will be more on the same page, and if we can get a good Center and plug the hole at LT,Orton should do pretty damn good,if he don’t,can his ass, bring in Quinn or Brandstater. If the BEAST leaves all bets are off!!!!!!just one mans opinion, that don’t mean a helluva lot…GO BRONCS 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DB it’s always about the $$$$$$$$$ my friend.

  4. TheRoyalBeast says:

    OC Drunken bronc

I think what Orton meant was that the team needs to improve as a whole, especially himself, so how can the team as a whole improve if he is not there. because the person that need the most improvement will not be there…

but yalls version is funnier. i like it lol…and yes, its all about the money. people dont play proffesional sports without thinking about the money. its a fact. Billion dollar organizations jsut wanna pay slave wages byt NFL standards…so who is the real greedy one? The player that wants his worth or the billion dollar organization tryign to nickle and dime him. Both maybe? lol

  5. DrunkenBronc says:

I thought it was about winning. So we all cheer and root for them to make higher salaries? Ortons comments look pathetic. He is in full panic mode that he will Lose to Quinn. Supports player union for sitting out otas then comes to his “for the good of the team”. Lol he came cause Quinn is better

  6. BeastFromEast92 says:

If Phonzie wanted #2,why can’t he have it if Simms is cut,the #2 is vacant ain’t it????Is there a rule that states a DB can’t have a low #???WR’s usually have high #s but the Beast is #15,and Gaffney is #10.just saying

  7. DrunkenBronc says:

I’m pretty sure low numbers are just for offense

  8. BeastFromEast92 says:

DB thanks for clearing that up,watched football for nearly 30 years but never thought about that scenerio.

  9. TheRoyalBeast says:

besides liek peopel said, in Quinns contract, if Quinn handles 60% or more of the snaps or was it 70, he will get 5 million this year. Cheapskate McD wont let that happen…He will let Quinn “sit in his system for a year”….at least thats what he will say, wont admit he was dodging tryign to pay Quinn.

Im rooting for Quinn as our starter. Orton is just not the guy and has lost me many games in Madden lol. So yea, Quinn for starting. But if Orton Miraculously becomes Manning or something, im all for it…

  10. baylinorcrush says:

I think the way some are treating Orton as a man is uncalled for, regardless of abilities, the man has been everything anyone would want a teammate to be, hard working, always there, always nice with the media, never talking badly of any teammates, never ruffling any feathers, totally dedicated to the team, always in tune with the plan, etc… and that some people can question is motives and even call him up on it is kind of ruthless if you ask me. I agree with you from time to time Drunkenbronc, but I take offense to this bashing, the man does not deserve it, on the field, that’s a different story, but off the field I wish everyone was as committed to the cause as Orton. Of course you have your right to your opinion and so do I.

  11. DrunkenBronc says:

Lol. Look at it this way, if it wasn’t for ortons horrible accuracy on a pass to marshall against cincy, the broncs wouldve had a losing record last year

  12. BeastFromEast92 says:

TRB I was just giving Orton the benefit of the doubt, but it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if we went with Quinn or Brandstater, whatever it takes to get it down the field.Orton said”we need more pass plays of 20 or 30 yards”.WTF if you could throw the damn ball accurately deep,we could have more.Like it wasn’t his fault,I guess nobody was open.LOL

  13. BeastFromEast92 says:

Baylin we don’t need a nice guy QB,I’d rather have a smartass that can play good than a buttlicker that couldn’t.IMO

  14. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah and that’s why you think everything is cool with Marshall, you guys have strange priorities…

  15. broncosfreak30 says:

Yea DrunkenBronc but he wasn’t 100% there. He had just suffered an injury in preseason and I couldn’t even imagine playing with an injury like that and still having a 6-0 record.

I do agree with Bay…Orton has given his hardest in a new system last year and he had, I think, really good success with. He’s never been in a system like this before and he only had a little time to prepare for it and learn it and came out the way he did. He played with a finger injury and later a leg injury and still fought his way on and off the field. Hes a class act guy and people just judge him because whenever you have Cutlers numbers and Elways its pretty hard to live up to those standards.

I am very comfortable with Orton being our QB because I think he’ll improve and be twice as good as what he was last year and he’ll be injury free!!

  16. BeastFromEast92 says:

I have a problem looking up and admiring brown nosers, and Orton is one, that’s just my opinion, and Marshall has nothing to do with it.

  17. DrunkenBronc says:

Anyone that wears sunglasses in a bar at night has issues. Bay I respect how you see him but you also didn’t see him in bars on the southside of Chicago like I did. A mess. I do like his work ethic and ability to play hurt. But that’s all.

  18. marshisboss says:

BFE you had a j***ass that could play good but look what he did in chicago last year. Just check Ortons stats in a new system compared to Cutlers stats in a new system. Arm strength isn’t everything

  19. broncosfreak30 says:

Quinn has not even proven anything yet in the NFL. I know that he had no talent in Cleveland but he still has yet to prove himself and people are wanting him to start for the team??? Also with Brandstater, yea he had a couple good preseason games that didn’t mean anything and people want him as our starter???

With QB’s, you have to stick with whats been proven and Orton has proved himself to be our starter. Now whether those same weapons will be there or not is the question that I think will hurt us!

  20. Orange_Crusher says:

“There are things that I’ve got to do to improve, obviously, or we would have been in the playoffs last year,” Orton said.

That is one of the funniest quotes of all…haha.

Well, I have to admit that I agree with KO on this one… It deffinetly was his fault that we didn’t get in the playoffs last year… He said it, I just agree….

  21. broncosfreak30 says:

Haha, what NFL player is not going to go out and have fun??? I’m glad he has fun and everything, I know about his bar experiences and things he went through but just about everyone goes out to clubs and bars!

  22. BeastFromEast92 says:

mb you can’t compare Cutler to Orton our offense is far more superior than theirs.IMO…That’s why Orton’s #s were better last year.

  23. marshisboss says:

OC i think alot of the blame goes to the run D too. But if he is willing to take the blame i give him alot of credit

  24. broncosfreak30 says:

It is never just the QB’s fault with not making it to the playoffs…Look how many sacks our OL allowed compared to the year before! Look at the fumbles from Moreno that he had multiple times. Look at our defense not being able to stop the run at all and allow someone to run 250 yards on your defense in ONE game.

Some people on here are pretty picky with what they want, haha!

  25. Orange_Crusher says:

“Tom Brandstater’s going to try to take my job this year. If Chris (Simms) was here, he was going to try to take my job,” Orton said.

this guy just keeps getting funnier…….haha

Oh I get it now…. he means Brandstater is going to try and take his #2 QB spot…

  26. texark-fan says:

drunk, seems everyone jumped on you at once. I just want to ask where you got that quote from KO about playing to earn money.

  27. marshisboss says:

BFE cool so Cutler would not have been so bad in our system is what you are saying because he would have been new to it as well.

  28. BeastFromEast92 says:

I didn’t say start Quinn or Brandstater,I said in my 2:47 post that if Orton didn’t get better to can his ass.

  29. marshisboss says:

texark he said that a while back when the CBA was not sorted out

  30. broncosfreak30 says:

Not to mention, look at how many PENALTIES we had this year, it was terrible! Also the 4th and inches that we were unable to convert. None of any of that involved Orton and he still took blame for just about all of it and said that he is doing his best to improve!!!

Look at Cutler, he called out Hester several times with dropping balls and everything and not taking all blame. McD likes Orton because he is a class player and a teammate that everyone looks for!

  31. baylinorcrush says:

Glad to see I’m not alone standing up for Orton as a man on this one, I was starting to wonder, it’s like the guy is nothing but dirt to some of you guys, sorry I don’t see it like that. You may not like his play or personality, but he has done nothing wrong to this team, he just gave it the best he could, and he will keep doing so hopefully improving along with the rest of the team. What else can you ask for of someone who has been picked by our HC to be our QB, all I can do is support him, and if he fails next year I’ll be the first one to call for his replacement, but I won’t drag him through the dirt doing it, he deserves better than Cutler.

  32. DrunkenBronc says:

Tex got it from the Denver post. Also on ben mallers site.

Another interesting spot on bens site is about doom.

  33. marshisboss says:

    DrunkenBronc what is that site

  34. BeastFromEast92 says:

mb at least he wouldn’t have to dink and dunk to get it done, and I’m not a Cutler fan or an Orton fan,but Cutler can get it down the field, and I know he had a lot of int’s,but look what Orton did in the last game when he tried to throw deep 3 int’s.just saying

  35. DrunkenBronc says:

He isn’t immoral or totally horrible. He’s just vanilla. Mediocre. Mediocre doesn’t win unless you got Rex Ryan. An orton 3 and out with a Mitch Berger punt is the same as an interception IMO.

  36. marshisboss says:

If we were not spoiled by Elway some of us would be willing to give Orton a chance they are alot of teams out there dying for a decent QB we at least have that.Fans booed Orton in preseason and he still came out and played his all for this team hurt and all. Yes some of it is for the pay but some of it is because he has alot of pride and heart

  37. BeastFromEast92 says:

I guess I’m just used to Elway and Plummer,I like a QB that can air it out,if you don’t have that in your arsenal you are one dimensional, and the opposing D will key on it.

  38. DrunkenBronc says:

marsh Benmaller.com. Some good info in there.

  39. marshisboss says:

    Berger is horrible Colquitt please

  40. marshisboss says:

    BFE understood. DB thanks

  41. texark-fan says:

    weeek 17 stats:32of 56, 3 ints, 428 yards, no b marsh

  42. BeastFromEast92 says:

mb I totally agree but you got to have a lot of talent to play QB,pride and heart is good as long as you got the skill to get it done,Orton might have those skills but not showing them yet,if he improves this year I don’t have a problem with him at QB,but like I posted earlier Orton said we need more pass plays of 20-30 yards,I see him as failing to do that, whether it be him or McD’s playcalling,we need to change that part of our Offense to be successful.IMO

  43. DrunkenBronc says:

Marsh it’s a pretty cool site. He takes stories from all around America and puts the links up. Updates them everday. One in there about Marshall trade and how Denver demands 1st round compensation for Marshall. Nothing less

  44. marshisboss says:

I don’t think dink and dunk will get it done all the time either so i hope McD opens up the playbook and Orton pushes the weights

  45. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Agreed

  46. BeastFromEast92 says:

And please can Berger and start Colquitt.

  47. texark-fan says:

“We didn’t do anything to cause this, the RFAs,” Orton said. “We went out and played as hard as we could to try and earn a contract. Somehow down the road, somebody opted out of something that caused us to get in this situation. Everybody was making a ton of money and somehow it wasn’t enough. It’s frustrating. As players I feel like we’ve got to be ready for a lockout because the steps that have been taken certainly looks like it’s leading to that.” Yet, Orton has also demonstrated that his top priority is his role as team quarterback.

  48. marshisboss says:

texark if you show me the player that does not care about money i will be the most surprised person there is

  49. Orange_Crusher says:

Okay, Orton is a “Great Man”. He’s soo wonderfull, and some believe he is going to somehow, drastically improve this year….

He’s just not the future QB for the Broncos…. If he was then the team would be getting him signed to a long term contract. There’s just no reason to hook my wagon to the guy when it is obvious that he will not be with the team after this season.

I don’t think he will all of a sudden get way better this year. Players just don’t become great one year. He isn’t going to be able to change that much. Maybe he will smooth out the edges a bit but he will still be the same player.

  50. TheRoyalBeast says:

Dont get me wrong, i was the first to defend ortons statements and i have nothing against him as a man but as a player he just doesnt cut it. In real life and in madden lol. Costing games. but seriously, liek i said, if he turns into peyton Manning overnight ill run with him. But i would rather have an A-Hole like Phillip Rivers than a QB like Orton thats a nice guy but can’t get it done. Would be nice to have talent and a great attitude but they rarely come together

And u cant compare Ortons stats to Cutlers stats. Our system is all about low risk passes and high percentage passes, even with that in the final game against chiefs with no Brandon Marshall, Orton threw 3 INTs 2 that went for a Touchdown. Anyone can shine in our system with the right work ethic, but they can be amazing with the right physical attributes… something Orton doesn’t have. His numbers for year last year are misleading. Cuz many times we watched a game and said orton stunk it up only to lok at his stats and see them look good. All about the system. And technically Orton proved he could throw the deep ball accurately against the Redskins. McD just doesn’t call those plays. Thats not his system. But his system doesnt work when everyone sits on the short route so he has to mix it up.
