Who is Wearing What?

April 6th, 2010 - 4:33pm by Kyle Sonneman

With the roster additions this offseason, many have asked who will be wearing what jersey number.

Well here it is, the most updated list from the Broncos equipment staff. The only player from last season to change his number thus far is Alphonso Smith. Smith switched his 33 to 22, with Nate Jones taking the vacated 33. Here are the rest of the new numbers. Some numbers are still being decided upon and once they are set, we will fill you in.

Brady Quinn – 9
Alphonso Smith – 22
Nate Jones – 33
Baraka Atkins – 58
Dustin Fry – 62
Jarvis Green – 93

I can live with Williams,McClain,or trade down and get Pouncey, just as long as we get value with our picks I’ll be(surprised)and happy.

  2. strandoftds says:

I can see us trading down for Pouncey.

  3. baylinorcrush says:

Xanders and McD have to have all kinds of scenario in place, taking in account who might and might not be available when they pick. First scenario might be pick McClain if he is still there at 11, if not second scenario may be go for Williams, if both are not available then third scenario trade down half a dozen spot to pick Pouncey and an extra third pick, etc, etc, etc…. I think what we will do is the best scenario of what’s left, the only way for me to know who we should pick is right after the 10th selection has been made, and even then that didn’t work for me last year because Orapko remained available after the 11th pick, my choice, and we went with Moreno and I was bummed, hopefully that part of the process won’t repeat itself, say McClain and Williams are still available at 11 and we pick Dez, boy will I be upset… Anyway, it’s going to be litterally like a lottery and I don’t know that I or any of us hold many winning tickets, but McD sure does, LOL, must be nice to be the big honcho, pick players for a living….

  4. BeastFromEast92 says:

Good perspective Baylin, now you made me nervous again.LOL

  5. TheRoyalBeast says:

yea good point baylin, ive been thinking about the same thing. easy for us to pick who we want but they have to come up with like 10 back up plans for every pick because things dont always go to order…

I was watching on NFL network when someone was saying how it tends to happen is that the staff and scout make a list of their top 100 or something like that, and then they compare lists…if names are like 2 spots apart, ok, but if they are like 10 spots about they gotta go back and figure out what did u see in this guy that you liked and what did I miss and try to get on the same page. Ultimate decision is McD but so much goes into it. I hope McD does right by us this year cuz im still mad we missed out on both Cushings and Orakpo….

  6. TruBroncFan07 says:

Don’t you guys think that we have to take Dez if we trade Marshall? I begin to think how unproductive this offense would be if we don’t take a play maker and get rid of Marshall. He was like a one man show last year.

  7. socalbigbroncofan says:

i have a question for all of you giving your mock drafts and hopes. did anyone get any predictions right last year? did anyone including myself think that cutler and mcd were going to make up and everthing was going to be alright? just goes to show that he does what he wants which is the exact opposite of eveyone else. so instead of dreams and wishes of drafts the biggest news on this blog even though they wont post it is WHAT THE HELL IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO MARSHALL. i dont want him to go we need him. and the whole league knows and is waiting, for marshall to get traded. we just seen a pro bowl qb get traded for pratically nothing and to a division rival at that. we need to get ready to lose him or sign him.

  8. TheRoyalBeast says:

Im with you socal, McD does what he wants and doesn’t care about the ramification or doesn’t think far enough into the future. I always say this, for someone who talks alot about accountability and everyone needing to be accountable, he needs to start with himself first. But he is our coach, all we can do is pray that he doesn’t screw up and even worse, screw up and then get fired, leaving this organization in the crapper and in far worse shape than when he came in. Because he woulda set us back a couple of years just to get fired, just for nothing. Thats my biggest fear….

Hope Marshall stays and I hope Him and Doom get new contracts worthy of their effort and production. Making them sign the tender just cuz u can and get them at a cheaper value may make sense for this year, but its disrespectful (IMO) and shows you dont care about players who work hard to be top contributors. Just my opinion tho…

  9. MarshMelo15 says:

WOW!!!! I knew Champ was great but I had no idea. I just got done reading the article about McBath and Bruton, and at the bottom it said that Champ has started 56 games, been thrown at 291 times and has only been called for pass interference just ONCE!!!!!!!! That is a pretty impressive statistic. Keep it up Champ!!!!

  10. sndvl says:

Oh blah di, oh blah da…
Ill take Orton over revolution #9 anyday. He reminds me of mother natures son! With the neckbeard and all!
Long, long, long- Orton go long like its your birthday.
I know he’s not sexy sadie or sexy rexy but at least hes not cry baby cry cutler.
As far as the draft is concerned, everybody has something to hide. No telling what kind of Helter Skelter McD has in store this year. Im so tired of all this waiting around. Trade Marshall or not. Its like the continuing story of Bungalow Bill. Hopefully we draft some piggies for the O-line. May very well end up with a wild honey pie WR. Just hope we dont come out looking like rocky raccoon with two black eyes like last year.
Well Mr.B, while youre sitting in your glass onion, eating those savory truffles, listening to dear prudence and back in the USSR, hope the decision to not pay DOOM and the others does not backfire. I will continue to cheer loud and proud for the
    DENVER BRONCOS 2K10!!!!!!!!!!

  11. sndvl says:

BTW, Yay Duke!!! lol that was by far one of the best basketball games I have ever seen…Good Night

  12. 19bk90 says:

lol im assumeing he switched cuz nate jones has played longer…..

lol thinking he has an attitude..

  13. atwaters da man says:

A Smith wore #2 in college. Has nothing to do with Nate Jones

#11) Earl Thomas, Joe Haden or
    Trade with Giants #15 & #46 for Sheffler & #11
pick Brandon Graham, Witherspoon or Pouncey.

#45) Jerry Hughes, Javid Best or Taylor Mays

  14. steveatwater5 says:

I just want to say that McDaniel’s drafted every player I wanted last year. I hope we trade down and get Golden Tate and Pouncey.

  15. steveatwater5 says:

I have watched all the Notre Dame games the last 3 years and from what I can see Golden can break multiple tackles, catch running full speed, and get open when your offense seems like its ready to break down.he caught so many short passes and turned them into huge plays,I also noticed that since mcD has been here,he has put multiple ND players on our roster

    13 days left till awesome

  16. atwaters da man says:

We will sign Doom, Kuper and company. All the big RFA are doing the same thing (Vincent Jackson, SD etc.etc.) Once the Draft is over a couple will sign and the dominos will fall for all the RFA. Quinn’s stats as a Brown are meaningless> He has never had a good QB coach or a good team. They (Tom B, Quinn and Orton) will be pushing each-other hard. Good thing for us because when someone gets hurt we will need it.

    Go Broncos!

  17. steveatwater5 says:

well Quinn is use to our system and he will flourish when he steps in.I also think Doom will be with us for a long time he’s productive and doesn’t have any off the field issues plus he play which ever position they tell him to very versatile.what about you man who do you think is the best player in the draft we will be able to take?

  18. brian_schneider says:

If Clausen does fall to us, depending on who else is available, I don’t think McD would draft him. Not because McD doesn’t take QBs high in the draft, but because he’s already got a first round QB in Quinn with very low risk involved and at a cheaper price. If the Broncos were planning on trying to draft a QB in the first round I don’t think they’d of traded for Quinn. I think that taking Clausen would sort of be a knee jerk reaction, especially when we need some inside help on our o-line and at the MLB. Everyone is talking about how draftees haven’t proved anything, well Clausen hasn’t proved anything. While Quinn hasn’t really proved anything he has proved he can compete at this level even if it is with a sub par team. Now he’s on a better team, better coaches and an actual chance to turn his career around.

  19. baylinorcrush says:

Socalbigbroncofan, I only had one player right in the draft last year, Ayers, I thought he would be the best pick for us with our second first and bingo, but that was it.

In order to pick Claussen if he falls to us, McD would have to be fully convinced in his mind that this guy is the guy. At most we would keep three QB’s on the roster, so I guess that would make Brandstater the odd man out, because no way you could get rid of Quinn considering we just traded Hillis and two picks for him, no way you could get rid of Orton now because he is the only who half way knows what’s going on at this point and of course Claussen being a first round pick would basically guarantee him a spot. And somehow I don’t think McD is willing to give up on Brandstater quite yet, remember he fits the McD QB mold to perfection a la Brady and Cassel. So it’s an unlikely scenario, unless like I said McD sees that Claussen is THE MAN, but he doesn’t even really fit the McD QB mold, only 6’3″ I think, so it’s a stretch to say the least.

  20. brian_schneider says:

I already told everyone how to solve our QB problems: You stack Brandstater, Orton, and Quinn. Quinn’s mobility and quickness, Brandsaters arm strength and Orton’s decision making. Now we just need a really big uniform so they can count as one player. LOL!

  21. baylinorcrush says:

    A three-headed monster, LOL.

  22. marshisboss says:

I am all for drafting golden tate i really like his ability and what he can bring to the team he can also help with the kick return game

  23. DrunkenBronc says:

Baylin your post was spot on. Last year they had a list of players they looked at and that’s it. Very narrowminded approach to the draft. Their first pick was Tyson Jackson. He was gone so I think they panicked by picking moreno thinking he was the best out there. Orapko wasn’t even on their board for the first. They have more tine this year to prepare though. But if that scenario happens and they go for dez i will be upset. Dez had a HORRIBLE pro day. He’s way overrated in a weak wr draft class.

That narrow approach of only looking at their board, which had I think about 150 players is the reason we took Alphonso smith so high.

  24. sndvl says:

Heard a rumor that Marion Barber might be on the trading block.

  25. sndvl says:

I could see why McD had rated Phonzy so high

Smith holds the ACC record for career interceptions (21), he broke the record (previously held by Dre’ Bly of UNC) in the 2008 Eagle Bank Bowl in a rematch against Navy.[2]

In 2008 Smith started all 13 games as a senior for Wake Forest, totaling 37 tackles (28 solo), seven interceptions, 20 pass breakups and two forced fumbles and tied for first in the nation in both interceptions and pass breakups. He was First-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection and a consensus First-team All-American. He was named one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Award.

As a junior in 2007, Smith started all 13 games as a junior for Wake Forest and had 44 tackles (36 solo), eight interceptions, three sacks, 18 pass breakups and four forced fumbles and returned three of the interceptions for touchdowns. He tied for first in the nation with a school-record eight interceptions and was First-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection and picked up Second-team All-America honors from Walter Camp. In 2006 he played 14 games (3 starts) as a sophomore for Wake Forest, registering 48 tackles (37 solo), three interceptions, four sacks, 11 pass breakups and one forced fumble. In 2005 Smith started all 11 games as a redshirt freshman and finished the year with 60 tackles (52 solo), three interceptions, two sacks, 12 pass breakups and one forced fumble. He received First-team Freshman All-America honors from ESPN.com, Scout.com and CollegeFootballNews.com.

  26. DrunkenBronc says:

Ryan leaf also looked good in college. Lmao

alot of other teams and analysists had him goin late 2nd round 3rd. They definetly didn’t have him as a 1st.

  27. rebelbronco says:

sndvl, you must be a big Beatles fan with all your references on your previous post. Love it! Greatest band ever, they revolutionized music. FYI, Rocky Racoon didn’y get two black eyes, he was shot by McGill. LOL!!

  28. rebelbronco says:

I mean Danny, McGill was the woman

  29. rebelbronco says:

    Who called herself Jill

  30. atwaters da man says:

Smith was a solid pick where we took him but anytime you give up a 1st round pick for anything in this league you are asking to be scrutinized. I think that having his number back will do wonders for him! He is getting stronger as we speak and to add some good young competition is only going to make him better.

Ayers, Mcbath, Smith, Quinn and Bruton are all going to be better this year. Also watch out for Wesly Woodyard he might make the probowl.

    Go Broncos!!

  31. baylinorcrush says:

Phonzy’s number was #2 in college, he is now #22.

  32. atwaters da man says:

That is the number he wanted but hillis had it. He cannot b #2 in the NFL

  33. baylinorcrush says:

That’s why I didn’t get you saying he got his # back. But he did the best he could with what # he could get, however if we have to hold our hopes that his fullfilling his first pick expectations he has to have the correct jersey #, I think we are paddling up the creek without a paddle….

  34. Broncos4ever80 says:

Xanders………Get a 1st round for Marshall if not we keep im until week 6 and get draft picks for next Draft! Dont let him go with less than a 1st rounder

  35. KooDUDE says:

I agree with you Broncos4ever80 I think he should stay as a bronco to be honest. If we give him up for a first rounder will end up taking a reciever in the first or second round in this or next years draft. How do you know that player will be as close to good as Marshall has been for us?
