Broncos defensive tackle Mitch Unrein walked into the club’s weight room for an offseason workout with new Strength and Conditioning Coach Luke Richesson when he discovered that his routine was going to change.
Unbeknownst to Unrein, Richesson was in the process of completely overhauling the team’s weight room, replacing nearly all of the old equipment with brand new machines.
That reminded the second-year player of another weight room that needed to be revamped.
Unrein had been planning a fundraiser to help improve the weight room at Eaton High School — his alma mater. He originally hoped to replace one piece of equipment each year, but with the timing of the Broncos’ redesign, a bigger opportunity presented itself.
“I was like, ‘I wonder what they’re doing with that stuff, I wonder if I could buy it second-hand from them or something,’ Unrein said. “So, I went up and talked to (Broncos Vice President of Operations) Chip (Conway) and Chip said, ‘No, we’re actually donating that stuff.’ I said, ‘Oh, really?’ I told him my situation with my high school and everything and he said that they’d be willing to donate some stuff to my high school.”
And just like that, Eaton High School received entirely new equipment for its weight room, which it desperately needed.
“We literally took everything out of my high school weight room. It was all just junk – if you’d have seen that stuff, you’d have said, ‘I can’t believe kids are lifting with this stuff,’” Unrein recalled. “It was unreal the old stuff that we had. I think it was like 1970s stuff.”
Unrein, along with volunteers from the Broncos and Eaton High School, hired a moving truck and transported the machines, weight plates, squat racks and benches from Dove Valley 80 miles north to the school.
He said that he could feel the positive effect of the new equipment on students before the new gear was even in place.
“When we were bringing that stuff in, we had a lot of the faculty, the staff, a bunch of students were down there just watching us set it up,” he said. “It was a huge thing for the school and I hope it motivates kids in sports.”
Even with the new weight room fully set up, Unrein still plans to hold the fundraiser and will use proceeds to help underprivileged kids in the community who can’t afford their sports fees or the new sporting gear.
“In any sport, you can benefit from lifting weights and working out and stuff like that,” he said. “Even if kids aren’t in sports, I hope it sparks a little fire in them to start working out at a young age.”

The new logo is decent, but I think we need to go back to the old ‘D’ uni’s, with a slightly more modern look. Maybe not as extreme as the above link, but something like the Bills did to their uni’s last year. Unfortunately, I think I read somewhere that a team is only able to request uniform changes once every 5 years or something, and we just changed back to orange..
Btw, we need a woman’s point of view on all this.. Where are our ladies at??

Well we still have the Away unis and Alt unis to be unveiled. They only did the home ones yesterday. So we still have something to look forward to a little IMO
I thought we already said our alternate was the all blues, basically swapping the home and alternates from last year.. I would LOVE if we came out with the D throw backs as our alternate, but I highly doubt it
I’d rather see a throwback with the “D” logo rather than those awful “brown and yellow” uniforms..yuck!
Everything i have read is that the away and Alts are still being worked on and being designed. Someone from every team is involved of course.

Actually, It is possible and probable. You need to go look at Manning track record for the last three years. I love how Denver fans think they are getting the manning of 10 years ago but want to ignore the facts. Facts are he has slipped in production and his skill set has eroded. Not to mention two neck surgeries. Do you honestly think that Indy would have let him go if he was still the guy that could lead them to championships? I have no problem personally with you guys getting him. If you go back and read my post from day one I’ve said all along that I don’t want him in KC. We had our Montana time and that’s enough for me. He is a mile better than what you had there in Denver but to say he is going to trump the other three teams in the division Then you will be one of those guys with the paper bag and broken heart this season. less

Dude dont talk about Manning when you dont know the facts. Indy let him go because they wanted to move on. I dont know if you watched the presser but thats what was said. I dont know if you can count but he had FOUR surgeries. Also people who have known Manning for years have said that he is getting back to how he was four years ago and that his velocity which was the only thing eroding has come back. Due you research scared KC fan.

Millertime those were rumored to be our new unis. They may be our Alts. The ones showed yesterday are our new home. Our Alts and Aways are still in production like every other teams.
Winning championships starts with a great defense, something that we are far from. That’s why we need to go D heavy in the draft.
Brian, I would be very dissapointed, if we didnt get 2 of the top DTs whatever it takes, and either ILB, DE with our top four picks. I know their probably going to get a QB, with one of our first 4picks.

I think weve done enough on the back end, we need to shore up our pass rush, and stopping the running game. We need a DT the can penatrate not just hold his groung, I mean disruptive, we need to close the pocket, instead of the QB just stepping up in the pocket, WE NEED BEEF WHOOOOOAAAAA! I like the new uniforms. I have concerns about those wire necks. Have those been field tested? The players seemed to like them and pads getting away from the jersey has always been an issue, but a nice horse-collar tackle looks like it could be fatal.

Hey DB, I wonder if I am one of the youngest anymore lol. I am 23 and turn 24 in September. Thanks to those who think my posts are mature beyond my years (I do have my childish moments lol) I tend to believe its because I graduated HS at 16 and college at 20 so I was always with people older than me. Most of my friends are in their late 20s and early 30s.

1st Stephen Hill- A beast WR that opposite of Optimus, could very well be his Bumblebee
2nd Brandon Thompson- A DT that will probably slip through the first round due to him mainly being a run stuffer
3rd Casey Hayward- A fantastic man coverage CB that suffers from being from a small school
4th(#108) Cyrus Gray- A RB that could potentially replace Knowshon Moreno
4th(#120) Nick Foles- A QB that had questionable decisions in college and so it’s questionable how well he’ll fare in NFL
5th Derek Wolfe- A DE/DT that’s very strong and agile that uses a strong swim move to get to QB and push him to the outside.
He doesn’t have a 6th round, but maybe we take a linebacker and see how he works out in the future..

I think our helmets should keep the dark blue, but replace the logos with the old “D” logo and striping, with white face masks. I think it’d look awesome. Modern, but retro. There was one logo someone made online that had the new horse in the D. That was pretty cool looking as well. I am very interested to see the alternates. I’m just glad to be back in the orange full time!

Was trying to think of when I actually started blogging on here………and I can’t recall exactly when it was………..I think it was the season before cutler got traded………or demanded a trade is more like it……the cry baby……..lol
if that was the time, u are much similar to me, back then I used to use a different name but it was in the 2008 season with the emergence of Royal in marshalls absence and the ensuing tag team butt whooping they layed down (before the dismal season end) that I blog even more frequently and became the royal beast.
