Week 7 – Wednesday: Notebook

October 19th, 2011 - 4:00pm by Stuart Zaas

GATOR CHOMP

The Dolphins plan to honor the 2008 University of Florida National Championship team, which included three current Broncos, on Sunday. While appreciative of the gesture, the Broncos plan to keep their focus on the Dolphins.

“We’re all professionals, including Tim. His focus will be on the Miami Dolphins,” Head Coach John Fox said on Wednesday. “I’m sure he’s happy and proud that they are doing that for him, but at the end of the day we have to go perform and I think that’s going to be his mindset.”

Despite the fact that the Gator tribute is taking place on their former home field, Denver’s Hurricane contingent is happy for Tebow and the rest of the Gators.

“Florida’s Florida,” University of Miami alum Willis McGahee said, laughing. “But it is what it is; (Tebow) did a great job. He had a good college career. So it’s a good thing they’re honoring him.”

NEWCOMERS PRACTICE

Wednesday marked the first practice for newly signed Broncos S Rafael Bush and DT Sealver Siliga. WR D’Andre Goodwin also practiced on Wednesday for the first time since being waived at the end of the preseason. He was signed to the practice squad to fill the spot vacated by WR Eron Riley.

DAWKINS BACK

Dawkins returned to practice, making it the first time this season that all 53 members of the team’s active roster participated in practice.

FOX KNOWS MOORE

Head Coach John Fox is familiar with Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore, having spent four seasons (2007-10) in Carolina with him. During that time, Moore completed 260-of-452 passes for 3,011 yards with 16 touchdowns in 22 games (13 starts).

“I’m very familiar with (Moore),” Fox said. I have a lot of respect for him. I like him – He’s very tough minded and he will bring his best for sure.”

INJURY REPORT

Broncos: S Brian Dawkins (neck) – limited; TE Julius Thomas (ankle) – limited; RB Willis McGahee (back) – full; WR Eddie Royal (groin) – full; WR Demaryius Thomas (finger) – full.

Dolphins: RB Reggie Bush (groin) – did not participate; S Reshad Jones (knee) – did not participate; WR Brandon Marshall (quadriceps) – did not participate; CB Nolan Carroll (hamstring) – limited; S Chris Clemons (hamstring) – limited; RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring) – limited; LB Cameron Wake (hamstring) – limited; TE Will Yeatman (shoulder) – limited.

Wow, if the current injury report is any indication of the inactives on Sunday, the Dolphins are gonna be seriously crippled without Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush… Bodes well for us…

  2. mcmcnees says:

Daniel Thomas too. Man, I might pick the Broncos this week… :)

  3. savinghyrule says:

Saw that Darren Sharper is a FA, we could use him. bay, is there any reason we shouldn’t sign him?

  4. since1972 says:

Still think Bay should get his own blog to make it easier to round up all these score predictions, my guess for this game is Broncos 21 Dolphins 10

I remember the play against dolphins when marshall took a shot going across the middle towards his quads that probably hurt him .. he stood up and kept running and finished the game but I could tell that hit jacked him up lol.

Wow the whole gang is here … good stuff … starting both TT and Decker in my league. I actually drafted decker in fantasy and I picked up TT after the Bolts game. Many were vying for him but I had a good waiver position. Only 3 people ahead of me and one was a chargers fan with aaron rodgers as his QB, the other had tom brady, and the 3rd person with the 1st waiver pick (my bro) just hates TT lol.

    Later days, TRB out…

    Bloggins a little slow today.

Bay – I’d love to debate GM’s, but I can’t figure what is really happening in the front office. Your guesses are as good as any. I would love to know how much dealing Elway has actually done in his dealerships. Getting the most for your cars could be similar to getting the most for a player. I’d guess you are right in that it seems like the hard nosed negotiator is missing from the front office.

I don’t understand letting Riley go.

I think letting Lloyd go was good for Lloyd and good for the Broncos in the long run. Sixth round seems like a give away, but not as dumb as 2 1st round picks for a 32 year old QB. Who is Cincy’s GM? Kudos!

Looks like anyone over 30 – could be on the Broncs chopping block. Anyhow it looks like they wish to backfill with younger players, which seems more like giving up on this year and possibly next.

Who was it said they wanted to see Quinn get his chance? What is that? I saw enough of Quinn in the preseason to have made an instantaneous cut. Quinn is done! Adam Weber did better than either Orton or Quinn. Fall 2012 – welcome Weber to the big leagues.

    DEN 45 / MIA 10.

It’s gonna be a good day!

  8. millertime2 says:

I agree with daddybronc, I believe chris weber will be a very good nfl
qb and hes used to throwing to decker.

  9. 1nOnlyTRB says:

With all the overwhelming confidence from fan predictions … ill laugh so hard if we lose … IF … its very unlikely IMO but anything is possible on any given sunday. TRB out…

since1972, I appreciate you trying to lighten up my blog workload however I’m not sure how well that would work since they have so many blogs during the week, even if it was on my own blog it would be so far back by week’s end, no one would get back to it.

  11. Greatness007 says:

Chris Weber is retired and does NBA games. lol Adam Weber is our PS QB.

  12. nc.bronco says:

Looks like Marshall and Bush just given an extra day off and will play. Looking forward to Champ shutting down Marshall.

All I know is the Starting QB of the Denver Broncos is being Honored in a hostile stadium on Sunday and that is a hellofa way to get Tim Tebow started in the NFL. Get a W and get our season back on track! Go Broncos!! Go Tebow!! Go Doom!! Go Miller!! Go Ayers !! Go Decker!! Go McGahee!! GO BRONCOS!!!!

  15. BroncoBoy2012 says:

Which Thomas was making that catch, Demaryius or Julius? haha…im guessing Demaryius Thomas since his return is a bigger deal.

My prediction: Denver 24, Miami 13

@savinghyrule… Darren Sharper is much passed his prime and is virtually another Brian Dawkins, an experienced safety that has lost a step physically but his mental edge keeps him in the game and is also a good mentor. But we need more of the youth movement, which is what EFX seems to be leaning towards (i.e. trading Lloyd).

Hopefully the game experience will help out our young players, especially those in the secondary and our WRs. Really excited to see these young guys go to work…LED by Tim Tebow. After seeing how he sparked the team against San Diego, I am giving him free reign, personally. In my opinion, this season is his; either to succeed or to fail. 10 games to show us what he can bring to the future.

    Bronco Pride!
