It’s been more than a month since the last Watching the Mocks, and plenty more voices have chimed in.
From NFL.com, Charley Casserly, Michael Lombardi, Bucky Brooks and Pat Kirwan each have the Broncos selecting Alabama defensive lineman Marcell Dareus with the second overall pick.
Their peer at the network, Steve Wyche, predicts the pick will be Clemson defensive lineman Da’Quan Bowers.
Another NFL Network writer, Albert Breer, enlisted the help of a college scout from the AFC for his mock draft. Breer (via the scout) sees LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson headed to Denver.
Sports Illustrated’s Don Banks has updated his mock draft, and he echoes many of the NFL Network predictions of a Dareus selection.
ESPN.com’s Mel Kiper and Todd McShay differ on their guesses for the Broncos’ pick, and McShay brings up a name not often tied to the Broncos — Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller.
He has the Carolina Panthers selecting Dareus with the No. 1 pick, and said that while “Dareus should be the pick if he’s available,” in a choice between Peterson and Miller, he predicts the Broncos would choose Miller for his pass-rushing abilities.
Kiper, on the other hand, sticks with his original pick and sees the Broncos taking Auburn defensive lineman Nick Fairley.
From CBSSports.com, Chad Reuter sees the Broncos going with Bowers, and Rob Rang predicts that Dareus will be the selection.
With the draft a little more than a month away, we will keep you updated as the mocks keep rolling in.

Should be some really good games tonight. The one that got away from me was picking Louiville to make the final four and they lost their first game!
I got:
CONN
BYU
DUKE
WIS
winning today!!! JUST FYI
Yeah, BFE is one of the most ardent Bronco “road” fan you’ll ever see.
baylinorcrush,
RAIDER RATS!!! That’s good man!!! LMAO
Yeah maybe one day I’ll make it out west and watch the Broncos play at Invesco, but for now the best I can do is try to get to the Titans/Broncos game in Nashville this season,if we have a season.
Lucky you, nothing in my neiborghood, remember if the Jags had beaten the Colts in the last game of the season, the Broncos would have played at Houston, just a three hour drive from here. I was bummed!!! Stupid Jaguars…
I had to watch them in Seattle for three years twice at the KING DOME and once at Washing Huskies Stadium, but they had really good teams back then and I swear there were more BRONCOS FANS than Seattle Fans!!!
OR maybe the ORANGE just outshined there colors!!!
Always liked the KINGDOME, great stadium that was.
But my favorite game ever LIVE was at the original MILE HIGH (I swear the fans cheered louder at the old house (STADIUM)!?!?!?
Anyway, 1996 against the Chiefs SHARPE had a HUGE game and like 3 TD’s and every time he scores he would tap the “INCREDIBLE HULK” poster in the Endzone!
Those were fun days and I hope we can get back to former GLORY!!!
We used to “OWN” the Seahawks for years – probably why they left the AFC WEST!!! LOL
Who was there QB that had really small hands and set the fumble record? Those were good times!
Jim Zorn?
But Steve Largent set the receiving record back then too.
Zorn doesn’t sound right and Largent was really good, and so was Joey Galloway, but there QB fumble it so often they didn’t stand a chance.
I think Zorn was earlier – I’m talking about the 80′s and 90′s mostly.
Dave Krieg?
Or Rick Mirer?
Dave Krieg yep just looked it up on-line.
Somebody say Spencer Larsen? Is he a FB or LB. Or ST stud. Or all 3. Who knows?
YEP and they missed on Mirer too!!! Everyone thought he was going to be the next Elway at the time and he couldn’t even carries Johns Jock Strap! LOL
sndvl, I know you are saying that just to aggravate me, it won’t work, haha.
I would be curious to know the total record between us and Seattle over the years??? Anyone know???
Seems like we’ve won about 70% of the time or better???
We even beat them last year pretty bad!
McD didn`t utilize Larson the right way. Not like Shanny anyway. I really don`t know what we have in Spencer Larson. You can blame that on McD.
Anyone else have a bad feeling about Elway checking out Newton and other QB’s? Maybe it is a smokescreen, but I see the Broncos entering the 3rd straight offseason with yet more questionable decisions at QB. I sincerely hope Tebow is the starter next year, whenever that is or if the season starts.
Personally, I feel like even if Elway doesn’t like Tebow, he should NOT focus any attention to this year’s crop of QB’s. Let Tebow start to see what ya got, and if he is less than stellar than do anything to get Andrew Luck next year. I don’t feel like we will need to, because I think Tebow will special. But that could just be me.
I want Tebow under center. I want a defense. And I want Elway to prove the doubters wrong. So please Elway, don’t get any new QB’s…
723, I really don`t see Elway and company drafting another QB. I think it`s just all smoke-screens. Plus Tim Tebow needs more than one year to develope. It`s going to take at least two years for Tebow to get a grasp of the new offense that John Fox is going to install. This year we will see big improvements in Tim but in all honosty he needs to start day one and get the ball rolling so he can get better.
“We believe in Tim, but he’s not there yet.” Elway said.
Thats the only sentence I needed to hear to know that Tebow is HISTORY with the Broncos….
Tebow will be traded or ride the pine as a backup/wildcat until another team offers enough in trade to recoup some of what the Broncos spent to get him.
I really want to believe in Tebow too but if The Great John Elway says that Tebow is not ready to play football going into his second year in the NFL???? Really??? I think that is just a nice way of saying Tebow is not going to be the QB of the Denver Broncos….
There is no smoke screen. Elway is not looking at other QB’s because he doesn’t have anything else to do but try to fool other teams into believing he will draft a QB… All signs point to that we WILL be drafting yet another QB….. And not a late rounder mind you. The Broncos are looking at the best, top round choices in QB’s….
Hold on to your helmets armchair football executives. I believe the Broncos brass will choose a QB with one of our first two picks..Maybe even use the #2 pick to get the QB that reminds John Elway of John Elway…
I wonder if JE can be the VP and the QB’s coach????? I hear tale that some other people in the NFL can do two jobs at once……lol just kddn
One thing is for CERTAIN! I will not be buying the jersey of the new QB until AFTER he wins us the Super Bowl…
ILMSDB!!!!!
OC I strongly believe that Tebow will be with us and start for us aventually remember when we were hiring coaches we looked for one that liked Tebow. I don’t think they changed their opinion that fast with out even giving him a chance to play.
OC, carnagebronco has been saying the exact same thing about Tebow Elway says, and he is pretty much spot on about the majority of things. He used to go by the broncoguy from va handle, and wording his handle backward is the only way it passes moderation since he was banned last season. The anti-McD that man was and he was right about all that….
This is what Klis says about trading back without a cba:
But to trade back on draft day, April 28, the Broncos need a near-miraculous resolution to the current labor agreement. As it stands now, the No. 2 pick would likely get $44 million in contract guarantees (10 percent more than the $40 million Detroit handed Ndamukong Suh last year).
A new CBA promises a contract cap system on first-round picks that would reduce that guarantee figure substantially. Without a new CBA by April 28 _ and face it, there won’t be _ the Broncos will be the second team drafting.
“If it stays like it’s been there’s no way anybody’s trading,” Broncos coach John Fox said at the league’s coach/media breakfast Tuesday. “You don’t want to be up there a lot.’’
That being the case, it really makes you double wonder why on earth would we be trying to bait someone by looking at QBs with the hope of trading down from our #2 pick to get an extra pick, meaning OC’s thinking holds a heck of a lot more water than some are saying. We may just be looking at QB’s because we want one.
BTW, it’s just really painful to go to the DP right now with that McD pic on top of the front page…. Get real DP!!!
calm down people sky isnt falling yet. We are not drafting a QB. dont get me wrong anything is possible but mark my words Tebow will get his shot. All he has to do is prove himself in practice, nothing has ever been given to the kid and he wouldnt want it that way. Aaron Rodgers in all his awesomeness sat for a while and now is a super bowl champ. If we were still under McD his chances of starting would be better because not only did McD draft him but he would also have a year under McDs system. But this year is a new system they all have to learn. I doubt it will be as complex as McDs system and with orton not having head start on tebow like he did in the McD system. tebows chances are as good as anys. The only way we woulda drafted a QB this year would be Luck but Luck didnt come out. Luck is the only QB that reminds JE of himself. Blaine is ok and Cam is probably as much of a project as Tebow with 1 year less experience. Elways has also said defense has been neglected too long, that plus the fact that we have a defensive HC i see us going defense. I know my personell backing skills are usually unlucky but Tebow is hear to stay, count on it.
2P’s = D in 2011, Later days, TRB out…
“not there yet”…that doesn’t mean there is no faith….I believe in Tebow and from what I’ve seen so do a majority of the fans, so I think this organization would lose a lot more support than it already has if we just give up on him…Tebow has a work ethic unlike any player I have ever seen and he has an amazing ability to lead!….I think Tebow deserves a chance! He earned it with his 3 starts last season!….I have faith in Tebow and I have faith that the Broncos organization has faith in him too! I think next year will be Tebow’s year…if he can’t do it oh well, but I at least wanna know we gave him the opprotunity to succeed!
Tebow 11′
Not that I didn’t before, but I’m really starting to hate this no football thing…Not having any insight on what your team is thinking is killiing me!
Hey Bay I hope you didn’t no this but Lamar and sixth street have been having anti-war protest so I have been advised to stay away so I will have to visit some other time.
Well, yeah, Austin is like a democratic island in the middle of an ultra conservative republican state, so the music peace and love attitude you would find on 6th street and surrounding area would be prevalent, but that definitely doesn’t stop me from enjoying it and I’m a 56 year old with a crew cut, haha. To each is own, that’s what this country is based on, gotta take all kinds, and boy do we have all kinds nowdays!!!
Of course I do understand the position of Camp Mabry of advising you to keep out to minimize altercations, with the booze and what not….
Wow, only two guys sticking their neck out for Tebow last night, not a very strong endorsement that’s for sure, maybe it all has to do with not wanting to be closely associated with a dude sporting his underwear in front of the whole country, including us dudes….:
An NFL work stoppage has not prevented Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow from finding work.
Tebow will make his commercial debut next week as the first professional athlete to model Jockey underwear since Jim Palmer in 1980, when the former Baltimore Orioles pitcher wore the Jockey Elance brief, according to a spokesman for the company.
Tebow will be wearing Jockey Staycool products and he will be featured in a blitz of magazine ads and television appearances in the coming days.
“People may say it’s underwear, but everyone wears underwear — it’s not like I’m doing something risque,” Tebow said this week from his home in Denver. “I wouldn’t do anything that goes against what I stand for. The whole campaign is very classy.”
Whatever rocks your boat dude, Kramer did it, LOL. However Tebow comes up with some weird stuff for a missionary man. Money, oh money, the things it will make you do, avid Christian or not. Tebow is not any more perfect than the guy next door other than his drive and physical talent, just a dude trying to navigate himself through this game called life, and he just went through a good size pothole, LOL. So Tim, you wear speedos at the beach in Jacksonville too? Wow, the girls are gonna go giddy…
This out of the Charlotte Observer, but the Denver pick part is by Legwold who keeps is wild evaluation of this draft going strong:
1. CAROLINA: BLAINE GABBERT, QB, MISSOURI
Maybe it was a case – like figure skating judges – of saving the best marks (or remarks, in this case) for last. But Rivera seemed to rave about Gabbert, whom team officials worked out and met with last weekend in Missouri before Rivera attended the owners meetings.
Rivera mentioned Gabbert’s size, arm, touch and footwork, but said he was most impressed with Gabbert’s “presence.” When coaches start talking like that, it usually means they like the whole package.
2. DENVER: PATRICK PETERSON, CB, LSU
It’s early and either Nick Fairley or Marcell Dareus could go here, but John Fox was a long-time defensive backs coach as a college and NFL assistant and said he’s “never seen a corner” with the size-speed combination Peterson has.
Jeff Legwold, Denver Post
Don’t say I don’t try to keep everyone happy here, haha, even the PP happy campers.
The longer the players thumb their noses at the owners the more complicated it will get:
As if there weren’t enough back-and-forth, he said/he said between the NFL and the NFL Players’ Association, now there’s today’s news that the league is insisting that testing for human growth hormone be part of a new collective bargaining agreement.
Alex Marvez of FoxSPorts.com spoke with NFL vice president and general counsel Adolpho Birch, who oversees the league’s drug-testing program. Birch said that the league feels testing for HGH is a “necessary” component of a new CBA.
“We want it. We think it’s necessary. We’re going to ensure that it’s done,” Birch said. “That’s something very important to us and the integrity of our game.”
Ditto that!
Friday and no cba, watch today will be deader than a door knob, did my part though….
Oh, ye of little faith! There is always something to kick around if you look a little bit. BTW, stay out of the peacenic rallies in Austin. There are some really weird varmints hanging out at those things and you never know what you might catch!
Thanks for the info Bay,just like reading the paper when I drink my coffee, keep up the good work bro,it’s well appreciated!
Dareus/Fairley=front 7 in 2011 !!!!!
You’re welcome BFE, my pleasure.
Now let’s try to stay up to date with the mocks for the last few days, out of 15 mocks this is how they have it:
For the #1 pick (Carolina)
9 have Gabbert
2 Newton
2 Fairley
1 Dareus
1 Bowers
For the #2 pick (Denver)
7 Dareus
5 Bowers
2 PP
1 Fairley
As you can see BFE Fairley is indeed falling out of favor rather quickly with most. And notice not a single one having us picking a QB.
Tebow in his Jocky’s! Where do you find this stuff Baylin? LOL
What’s next Quinn in his CK’s?
Nobody can sell underwear like Jordan and Charlie Sheen. Ok just Mike. Haha…
2Ps = D in 11
Just for fun, this is how they had it at the beginning of February:
#1 pick:
12 Fairley
1 Newton
1 Bowers
1 A.J. Green
#2:
6 Bowers
5 PP
3 Fairley
1 Dareus
Talk about a fall from grace for Fairley, and a rocket like ascent for Dareus!!!
And Gabbert too came out of nowhere.
Bowers is about the only constant in there, that’s interesting, true2broncos will be pleased.
sndvl, yeah, you know, when I saw that stuff about Tebow our pretty boy Brady Quinn came immediately to mind, and I see it did with you too, LOL.
Bay,Dareus will make me more than happy, just as long as it’s not PP or another QB!
BTW,I’m not sold on Bowers either.I say Dareus or Fairley, but Hell I’m not drafting, just hoping, lol.
I don’t like the fact of drafting Bowers, cause he’s hurt, never draft hurt players, look what happened with Thomas.
BQ wasn’t the only pretty boy that came to mind. I hear the ladies like Decker too!

About Bowers’ injury status, here is what his agent Joe Flanagan is saying:
“Shortly after the combine, on our advice and based on input from the teams at the top of the draft, it was decided to push Da’Quan’s workout deeper into the pro day schedule, simply to give him more time to train.
“On March 4, all NFL clubs (and certain media) were notified that Da’Quan would hold his pro day at Clemson on April 1, the day after North Carolina’s pro day, to best accommodate NFL personnel.
“As announced at that time, Da’Quan will indeed work out on Friday, April 1, at 9 a.m. at Clemson University. He will participate in all combine and defensive line tests and drills. He will be meeting and dining with several teams in both the days leading up to and after the workout.
“Starting on April 4, Da’Quan will begin traveling for visits currently scheduled with eight teams at the top of the draft. Those teams will visit with Da’Quan and conduct physicals. He will also participate in the medical re-check in Indianapolis, which will lead to updated medical information being provided to all 32 clubs.
“We believe this series of events … the meetings, dinners, workout, visits, physicals and re-check … will show that there exists no short- or long-term concern about his knee and also confirm that Da’Quan is the best defensive player in this draft, with as much upside as any prospect in a very long time.”
