Just as we did last offseason, we’ll be taking a look at various mock drafts leading up to the 2012 NFL Draft.
As of today, Feb. 13, there’s a wide variety of players — seven, to be exact — that writers project Denver to take at pick No. 25. The favorite at the moment seems to be Michigan State defensive tackle Jerel Worthy.
Others see Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill, Clemson tight end Dwayne Allen, LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers, USC defensive end Nick Perry and Alabama safety Mark Barron.
The breakdown is below:
ESPN’s Todd McShay: Tannehill
ESPN’s Mel Kiper, Jr.: Cox
(Both McShay and Kiper’s mock drafts require ESPN Insider to view the full list)
SI.com’s Don Banks: Worthy
CBS Sports’ Rob Rang: Worthy
CBS Sports’ Dane Brugler: Allen
FOX Sports’ Peter Schrager: Brockers
NFL.com has all their mock drafts in one convenient location.
The favorite in those drafts is Worthy, who is projected as Denver’s pick in seven of the available mocks. Four see Allen headed to Denver, and two — Pat Kirwan and Dave Dameshek — project Tannehill at No. 25. Steve Wyche stands alone in his prediction of Perry, and Jason Smith is the only NFL.com writer that sees Barron as Denver’s pick.
We’ll check back in on the mock drafts several times as April 26th draws closer.

Strand – should we start the “cut Goodman” petition?? LOL!
I think we`ll sign some FA`s but only a chosen few.
Nah, I wouldn`t. We would come across as being to cold. Its going to happen anyway. Call it a bussiness decision. Goody was a fine CB awhile back.
We’ll sign some FA’s, no doubt, but not by way of Mario Williams, Marshawn Lynch or Peyton Manning.. I think the trick in good FA signings is to find an undervalued player vs. an over hyped player or one coming off a great season.. Sort of like buying shares of a company when they are low, rather than after they shot up.. Just my opinion, whatever that’s worth.. LOL
Player must go was a bay campaign thing back in daa day.
I hear y’all. It would be nice, but without bays reality checks I felt the need to not join u guys on cloud 9 lol. But my guess is as good as anyones.
You build thru the draft. I believe this is a fundemental they will take to heart. Nothing but contributors in FA, no elites. I doubt. Except maybe safety, last year they went after the top safety, and with rahim stinking and dawk prolly out, they might again. But they rather spend money on draft picks than FAs. FAs have burnt em too much in recent yrs
TRB
What I have confidence in is know that the Broncos are 50 million under the cap. Thats alot to go out and sign your own players, FA`s, and the draft. Plenty to work with.
We have to remember that while those big name players sound nice, they also command a hefty price tag.. And with the salary cap, there is a limit on how much you can spend.. Signing a Mario Williams might sound like a great idea, but if it ties up a ton of cash, preventing you from signing other players, it might be counter productive..
Build through the draft and get few key FA`s. We got the money. Dove Valley has a game plan set in place. Whatever they do is fine by me.
I was joking about the petition..
We’ve heard about the good teams “building thru the draft” for years, but with this rookie wage scale put in place last year, draft picks have never been so valuable than they are now, which is why I believe we only got a 5th rounder for Lloyd (although I thought we still could have done a tad better).
Gone are the days you have to give an unproven rookie $50M, and for that reason teams will be less inclined to move down, unless they are offered a kings ransom, or if they want to hold the teams in need of a QB hostage..
Just thoughts and ideas is all, no setting in stone, only opinions.
True and true
Pundits do not predict or forcast trades. Even the #2 Rams pick this year.
Value is our need as we build. Trade down maybe our best value.
CB, DT, QB, LB are needs.
TRB, nobodys ideas are worse or better than anybody elses. We`re all Broncos fans and reaching the same goal in winning a Championship. Keep your snide remarks to yourself. Your arrogance is uncalled for. I can care less whether you join in or not. This blog is for everyone so get over youself.
And stop living in the past, Bay is gone.
Once upon a time Denver went out and signed some real Quality FA’s coming off either thier First or Second Contracts and built a winner…
Mario Williams today = Alfred Williams in 1996
Brandon Carr today = Darrien Gordon in 1997 (A solid Number 2 CB that can help in the Return game)…
There is Zero reason why the Bronco’s won’t go out and spend quality dollars on a quality player in FA… last year they didin’t, but that is because the FA pool was not great, and the new regime was getting comfortable with each other, their systems and the new Rules of the CBA…
It’s absurd to think that this team won’t try to add quality starters through FA if they are available and Denver has a real draw for FA’s with ElFoxaRio…
Mario Williams would be the single biggest addition the Denver Broncos could make to this team via FA OR the the DRAFT… so if Williams is willing to sign his name on a dotted line and bring his services to Denver, expect our FO to do the right thing and give him a dotted line to put his name on…
It could also be argued that it is easier to trade out of the top spots now with the rookie wage scale, b/c in the past teams we’re not as willing to move up and have risk $50M on a rookie, so I guess there are two ways of looking at it…
All I know is that I feel like we have the right leadership in place to draft be committee rather than a dictatorship like with McD’s and Shanny.. I believe that the best decisions are made when there are more than one person involved and it is talked out amongst several people rather than one guy pulling the strings…
If you put Mario Williams in his natural 4-3 rushing in front of Von Miller, across from DOOM their is not a coach in the league that could figure out how to stop that… simply because you have to block 2 of those 3 guys with at least 2 quality blockers…
It is time our D goes back to overwhelming opposing offenses… in ’98 when we won our Second Superbowl we had at least 7 defensive or return touchdowns…
*season of ’98, Superbowl was in ’99, i’m well aware of that… Blah
We got to remember to that when you sign a player, the monies are spread out for each year. Not all monies go in 1 pocket. We have loads to spend. We don`t need to spend it all but we are 50 million under the cap for God sakes. Williams would be a great sign, he counts as two players on the field, a real beast.
Heck, sign Lynch or Tolbert since we`re at it. We only need to sign 3 or four key players and build through the draft. Its not rocket science.
Strand,
How u took offense to that is beyond me. The remark wasn’t meant to be snide. I said my guess is as good as anyones. U are the one who blew it out of proportion, I didn’t diminish anyones opinion. And I disagreed with bay 9 times out of 10 when it came to personell so this has nothing to do with the past, I just heard talks of all these superstars nd I thought u put my opinion which apparently u took affense too even tho u said “everyones opinion is even”. Then respect mine. And if u got a problem with it don’t read or respond to it. Ur attack on me was uncalled for. No one is being snide or arrrogant, I just didn’t want people to get too excited about a rumor was all. So how about u get over urself if u think I care enough about ur opinion to put it down. U are free to post wateva. How about u let me do the same
Turtle, our signings in 1997 that were FA`s are Neil Smith, Alfred Williams, Darion Gordon, Romo, and Eddie Mac. Just to name a few.
I don’t think TRB was out of line.. I like his ‘to the point’ way of writing.. Opposing views is what makes for a good blog, we all can’t agree on everything, otherwise it would be boring..
I had taken offense to your comment on that you felt not to take the need to join you guys on cloud 9 all because of Bays reality checks. Why even go there. It justs comes across as arrogance. I don`t need anyone to tell my what I think unless they ask properly. Call it respectfulness brother. Once again why go there unless you place yourself on a pedestal.
Trust me guys, I’d love if we went out and signed Super Mario, but I’d rather not get my hopes up, and be pleasantly surprised if it happens..
Clearly u don’t know a joke when I referenced bays realkty checks, much like carnage they keep us grounded in a sense. So I offered another side. Its urs to accept it or not. People. Need to man the freak up. Everything is not meant to be a jab or offensive. And no where in there did I tell u what to think. Clearly u jumped to conclusions. No where in there did I tell u what to think. Furthermore, I repeat, don’t like my post keep it moving. You have been on here long enough to know my M.O is not arrogance or a condiscending tone, and if u don’t, I doubt u will realize it by now.
TRB, thats the only sentence that frustrated me. If you didn`t mean it that way, then good. But I had taken it as your words are better than ours and that you just yawn at our comments. If I`m wrong then I`ll man up and apologize. If I over-reacted then sorry. Hey, we`re human, its hard to read people from a blog.
Can we stop all the drama and discuss the Broncos? I read a comment earlier calling a blogger’s comments “stupid” and if that isn’t disrespectfull then I’m confused. I also miss Bay but am just interested in information from those more knowlegeable than I. Let’s just move on. Go Broncos
Its cool strand that’s why I said “my guess is as good as anyones”. For me to attck or put someone down on here would require alot. I am rarely right when it comes to personel so I know better than to ellivate my opinion over others. But watch out, when I start being right I might show y’all some real arrogance lol. Just jokes. Later days, TRB
I over-reacted then on one stinking comment. LOL! Thanks for being Christian minded.
@ strand I think our only free agent signing in 1997 was Neil Smith. Romo, EdddyMac, Alfred Williams and Gordon were on the roster in 1996.
And Howard Griffith.
Howard Griffith was a free agent signing as well in 1997 by way of Carolina.
Anybody think C Jeff Saturday has any gas left in the tank? He’s a free agent from Indy… he’s kinda old, but has always been quality…

Don’t we have 7 picks? two fifth rounders?
First time back on the boards in a couple years. Good to see Bay off of here. I would love to see the Broncos take a DT first. Worthy or Poe. Both players weigh over 300. Tired of watching this D-Line get pushed around.
All I want for Christmas is for the broncos to draft worthy!
Sparta… Lol
http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/39901/tim-tebow-working-with-qb-guru
Anybody post this yet? if so my apologies…
Yep… OT posted it… I just caught up…
Does this also mean the TT is fully healed?
Turtle, I was born in Rawlins!
That’s one heck of a wish list….Manning, Moss, Lynch, Tolbert, Williams……lol
I still think Goody holds value at the CB position. As injuries proved, we need depth there. Why cut him when he still can play, opposite Champ mind you. And if it’s true that we’re 50 million under the cap, how does it make sense he would become a cap causality?
I’d love for Hillis to return. But my wish list is Bush and Grimes….
Broncos Country Strong 2012!
I am just happy that Tebow isn’t wasting any time working on things. Anyone know when the teams can officially start working together? Is it only when OTA’s start?
I suppose calling a blogger “stupid” is disrespectful. (wasn’t me by the way) But calling a post stupid isn’t. Not nice and not a way to make friends, but some posts are indeed stupid.
I like TRB’s ablity to be thick skinned. Definitely a personality trait that’s rare now days where, “don’t ‘dis me” is the ever present whine.
Just my opinion and it’s OK to call it stupid, if you want!
AJ, I’m not sure who called a post “stupid” on here either. Not disputing it, but if it happened, I missed it, and I thought I’d read them all today. We WERE talking about some crazy posts earlier by some bloggers on the ESPN blog, not here, where all of this talk about Peyton, Moss, etc., started, but “stupid” must have gotten past me somehow. But, I’ll say it again, those posts were some crazy football talk, as in….Peyton called Randy and promised him 2 or 3 Super Bowls if he could be the player he was when he came back, and John Elway was the only one who would give Peyton what he wanted, etc., etc. Some pretty unbelievable stuff going on at ESPN.
The Broncos have not posted their 2012 schedule yet, but according to the new CBA:
Each year offseason workout programs cannot begin prior to the first
Monday in April for Clubs that have hired a new head coach after the end of the prior regular season, and cannot begin prior to the third Monday in April for all other Clubs.
Each year on a date to be agreed upon by the parties, but no later than twenty-one days before the scheduled commencement of a Club’s program, each Club shall provide the NFL and the NFLPA with the Club’s schedule for its offseason workout program that year, and shall advise the NFL and the NFLP A in writing in advance of any changes to that schedule; if the NFL provides such information to the NFLPA, the Club’s obligation
under this sentence shall be deemed satisfied.
The only free agents that I believe the Broncos should invest some of their, what 27 million+ available cap space on that are not Broncos right now, is Ray Rice and Vincent Jackson.
I wonder how McGahee would react if he Broncos signed Rice….
Yeah Tide, that AFC West blog gets pretty weird.
wow a lot of arguing going on. wish Bay was here to put an end to it. lol.
I don’t mind the arguing I really don’t think it’s a BIG DEAL but BAY had his fair share in causing the arguments as well so.
