After his stellar performance in Oakland, Broncos running back Willis McGahee has been named a finalist for FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.
McGahee rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns against the Raiders Sunday, helping lead Denver to a 38-24 victory over their division rivals.
Fans can vote for McGahee here until 3 p.m. EST Friday. Winners will then be announced on NFL Total Access, on NFL Network and on NFL.com.
Texans running back Arian Foster and Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray are the other Week 9 finalists.

You don’t have to be in Mile High to do the Salute, do you? lol
I wish I was a player so I could vote for him as one of the team captains, replacing Orton would be just fine with me. McGahee is captain material if I ever saw any.
He shoulld get an award for saluting the Oakland fans on the 24 yard TD lol that was great and I’d agree should be a captain
Well deserved nomination. Playing through the broken hand showed toughness on this team that I haven’t seen since Al Wilson.
Great job Willis

Richardson at 11?
Atwater what about Dawkins his first year ayed the first month with a broken hand
THere were two things that surprised me in the Raiders game
1) According to announcers, Quinn was back up QB.
2) Biggest surprise of all is that after McGahee’s 60 yd TD the Raiders flat out quit!!!
THe game at KC is sure a hard one to figure. Broncos suck at KC, KC had 3 horrible games followed by 4 great games followed by being embarassed by Miami. Which KC team will show up Sunday??? History says that no matter how good or bad the Chiefs are they usually beat the Bronmcos at KC. Broncos broke Miami loss streak. Broncos keep KC in a talispin!!
Broncos 27-23.
But that also has Landry going 20th so not very reliable I’d say
Broncos 34
Kansas City 13
True LAX. I love Dawk but his age has prevented him from being effective in anything other than blitzing and helping against the run. My memory of him in a Denver uniform is mostly the back of his jersey chasing a receiver into the end zone.
Love his heart and leadership though. Just wish we had him in his prime
They should bring in sharper and relegate Dawkins and Carter to running dowsn and Moore and Sharper to passing
Well deserved for McGahee. Great player for sure.
Does the Broncos Vs. Raiders game reair sometime during the week. I was at the game and forgot to set my DVR to record it? I would like to see the TV version.
If Quinn is indeed the #2 QB it’s only because this staff is still in the “let’s see what we have” mode. If you have Quinn at #3 and Orton @ #2 and there’s an “issue” with Tim via performance or injury, then the “message” you’ve been trying to send to the fan base gets cloudy.
Fox has said many times that he is still trying to find out who fits and who doesn’t. That includes Brady. Also, it was reported that had there been an issue with Tim in Oakland, Brady would have been the QB to go in.
I frankly could care less! I wanna ride the Tebow train all the way to the end and then construct thoughts afterwards! Orton’s done and actually I agree with Brady being #2…for the very reason as stated above.
I personally think that this Timmy thing might be washing off on the coaching staff. It reminds me of a guy I wrestled with years ago. He actually wasn’t very good. However, everyone enjoyed him and liked him! He was good for the locker room and he took losing matches very well. He was simply out to be part of something and be part of a team. Well, after practices he would always want to horse around and one day in practice he hit me with this junk move. Now for all you non wrestler fans, a junk move is simply a move that is not in the handbook. Many times a wrestler will create their own move. It’s called junk because if it doesn’t work, 99.9% of the time you’ve put yourself in a very very bad position. Well after hitting this move and putting me to my back i got out and said “What in the sam hell was that?” He said “I call it the MS Express”….
Well…this kid didn’t didn’t break the line up but 3 times. Each time he was trailing severly in pts. He ended up winning all 3 of those matches. During the 3rd and final period of each of those matches, the coaches would be screaming….”Hit the Express!” LOL!
Sometimes you go with what works for you at that time! LOL!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Richardson would be a mistake in my eyes. Would much rather see us take a DB. Plenty of good ones this year that we could trade back in the draft for.
But that is far, far down the road. All of that depends on our draft position obviously. If we end up in the top 5, it means Tebow didn’t pan out and Elway will look to snatch up a QB. This year’s class is/could be loaded in my eyes. Luck, Barkley, Jones, Claiborne, Burfict (love, love this guy), Kirkpatrick, Blackman, Jeffrey
Hey Bay,
On a side note. I wanted to send my belated well wishes for you while you were away with your surgery. As many have stated previously it’s good to have you back and feeling better!
It’s like you’ve returned!

GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Too early in the week for predictions. I must say I am so proud of the way our O-line has developed over the last couple years. Early last year they couldn’t block my grandmother. This year our guards are really occupying real estate as Mark Cooper would say. J.D. Walton had an awesome block to spring McGahee for that 60 yarder. The raiders initially had 9 in the box prior to that play and while 1 safety dropped off to cover Decker in the seem that left 8 in the box and we still blasted ‘em. Go to the fedex ground page to see what I’m talking about.
Was it me or did Eddie seem really really fast during that punt return for a TD? Holy crap I was like….”Boy got some skills!” LOL!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
It’s funny how many people were ripping our Oline and their talent level after the Lion’s game. They are young, they have potential. I’m sold on 3 of the 5 at this point. Walton, Clady (stop holding), and Kuper. Franklin and Beadles just need to come along and we are all set
Funny story:
I was just on the phone with our home office with our communications center. I was having some troubles logging into a particular site I use. Well I also had nfl.com up. So as I was talking to the IT guy, he remoted into my computer.
I said the following “You can just close out all my windows if you want. I was just checking to see who San Diego plays this week.”
He responds with “The raiders. They play the raiders this Thursday. I’m a raiders fan!”
My response “HA HA HA HA HA HA..! Yeah, I’m a Broncos fan!”
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Atwater4HOF: I think those guys have been steadily improving. They hit a brick wall in the form of the Detroit D-line and all teams are having issues with them. I certainly expected our guys to struggle against them. I think they are doing a great job right now getting better. As far as Clady goes, this is all new to him. He came from a zone/stretch sysytem at Boise State so he is still adapting to this read option thing we have going now. I did dog on those guys last year but they are getting better and I love it.
I don’t think our O-line did all that bad against Detroit (except the rookie). We had over a hundred yards rushing, Kuper kept Suh in check.
Sure there were the sacks and trouble in pass protection, but Tebow should shoulder most of that blame. The sky is the limit for Beadles, IMO, Clady will return to form and Franklin is a rookie.
Kuper plays with a mean streak. It seems like every game he is getting in scuffles with the opposition’s Dline. I love it. Walton is starting to develop that too.
Half of playing O-Line is knowing when you can get away with holding and when you can’t…not trying to sound sarcastic here, but every lineman holds…Clady has just been getting beaten up on lately which tends to lead to getting busted for holding. He’s got the talent and size and I can’t wait till he figures it all out again because when he’s on he’s one of the best young tackles in the league! I am really high on our entire line. Walton and Beadles are 2nd year guys and Kup’s the solid anchor on the right side to balance out Orlando Franklin who’s gotten better in every game this year. Great things to come for the running game. Maybe we won’t care who’splaying QB if they run for 300 yards every week…yeah right!
After Royal score on the punt return I told my wife, “we have no reason to throw the ball anymore in this game.” The D held the raiders off and Fox and McCoy called nothing but run plays the rest of the game.
Icing on the cake is that the Raiders knew we wouldn’t throw another pass and we still marched down to get McGahee TD number 2.
Will NFL Replay reair this game? I forgot to record it.
The thing I like most about Willis McGahee is his return to the Mile High Salute after scoring. I think I saw Decker give the salute after one of his touchdowns this season. We haven’t been winning since the players abandonned that tradition made famous by Terrel Davis.
Change our fortune and return to the honorary Salute.
I have to think that Kansas City would rather have this game at home, and view a win this week against Denver is important, rather than face a “must-win” situation, coming into the Mile High. I spent a lot of time reading articles on-line from the Denver Post — I don’t have anything really constructive to add from the many insightful comments written about aspects of the upcoming game against the Chiefs. I found the link to the Denver Post, by the way, at the Kansas City Chief fan page site. They have a stable of running backs they are enthusiastic about — two of them, McCluster and McClain, are 3rd down situation backs. I am pretty sure that means big, physical, and punishing. Kansas City will pride themself on play-calling, and, their wide receivers, two in particular, Dwayne Bowe, who they consider a vertical threat, and Jon Baldwin, admired for his ability to create separation in coverage. On pass defense, they don’t reserve their praise for their Defense End, Tamba Hali. When I think of Kansas City, I think of their big line, and their physical play. The way I look at it, the sweetest sound in the world to a Chief’s fan, is the sound of the pop of a hard hit — heard everywhere in the stadium. But I also think of their secondary — much as I do the Raiders — with unbelievable, blazing speed, who love nothing more than not just intercepting the ball, but intercepting and taking the ball all the way back for a score. Needless to say, Kansas City fans look upon it as their duty to fulfill their role as the “12th player”….You and I can talk about “loud,” and on TV or a laptop screen, it can seem, “loud,”…but what it actually is like on the field during game time, probably is pretty unimaginable. I have been away from football for a longtime, and for some reason associated quarterback Matt Cassel with Baltimore. Mr. Cassel is the quarterback who replaced Tom Brady, when Brady went down and out for the (2008) Patriot season, and has had quite a few American Football Conference honors. Last year, Matt Cassel registered 3116 passing yards, with 262 completions listed. If my math is correct, that averages to just under 12 yards per pass.
I think if switch Franklin with Beadles the line would set for years to come.
So far im relatively happy with the Broncos that have showed up. Clearly Orton has played his way out of here (like most of us predicted) and unless we are playing the elite in the league we have been right in every game! Tebow clearly has work to do but at least we are seeing improvement… Very happy tosee Eddie have a huge game, and I am really pumped to see how many yards we run for on sunday lets go for 400!! lol Chiefs are falling apart I know Arrowhead is a tough place to play but I say a 2td win at least…GO BRONCOS!!!
